BACKGROUND
BEFORE THE APOCALYPSE
marcia is the oldest of three children. she spent most of her childhood with them or her mother who was a mechanical engineer, always eager to learn something new. in attempt to be around her mother whenever possible, marcia would always ask her mother what she was developing, listening to her ideas and soon trying to come up with her own little inventions ( failing too much for someone as impatient as marcia). when she was little, she thought she’d grow up just to be like her mother ( and everyone else did as well ) but she was lucky and found something she’d even love more. little marcia suddenly talking about wanting to become a ballerina wasn’t met with surprise, after all marcia frequently changed her interest ( except for her love for of coming up with new inventions ) but as years passed and marcia’s ambition grew, people would question her what she imagined her future would be like. the answer was clear and she wasn’t naive enough to believe that she could just do both, get a mechanical engineering degree and become a ballerina. so she decided to postpone one dream in order to pursue the path of becoming a dancer. knowing that it wouldn’t last too long anyway. and somehow, as if fate still wasn’t ready to throw her life around and she managed to become one of the top dancers. eventually, she married and became mother to her wonderful daughter amaia. this is the first time marcia allowed herself to be naive, dream a little more. she thought she’d still have enough time and energy to continue pursuing her career as a dancer. but her life had changed, everything about it and she could be replaced by other and younger dancer. marcia told herself that she was fine with it and that she could now focus on getting her mechanical engineering degree. and she somehow managed to be a mother while studying. however, quiet resentment coming with missed opportunities grew within her and more than often she’d find herself overwhelmed with her situation. one day she lashed out, like never before and spitting hurtful words at her husband. then she just left, wanting to drive to the ballet studio she always spent her time at. but she’d never make it and the last thing she’d remember was the flash of the light and the screeching of car wheels loud enough to mute her screams, and then her whole world went dark. and it’d stay like that for a long time.
THE APOCALYPSE
time had passed and she was alone when she awoke at the hospital. she felt utterly alone and abandoned but those feelings would need to be pushed back into her heart for a long time because she wasn’t safe. somehow she managed to get out and all she could think about was to find her family. luckily, she found her daughter amaia . but she was alone and the thought of her husband not making it crossed her mind ( but would be another thought she’d push aside , until she could deal with the pain ). after all, he would never abandon their daughter. but she needed to be strong, and if she couldn’t live for herself after losing so much, she’d continue to push through for her daughter. she soon found another group of survivors and together they managed to stay alive. they were like a second family to her and after a long time, she felt useful again. marcia would use her engineering skills to come up with all kinds of inventions and also build weapons. part of her didn’t want to do it, especially having them around amaia but she knew it was necessary for survival. marcia somehow became one of the leaders of the group. she never wanted that role but she did it anyway. one day, another group of survivors approached them and suggested a deal. they’d exchange some weapons for food and other materials. the same night, she had an argument with the other leaders, as she refused to make weapons for any other than the people at her camp. but when she remembered that she’d allow her daughter to starve if she didn’t agree and the deal was made. that decision would turn out to be a mistake. only a few hours after the deal, the other camp launched an attack on her camp, attacking them with the weapons marcia made. the next moment would pass within a second but would haunt her forever. gun pointed at her daughter and before she could do anything it was already too late. if miracles existed, marcia would never know if she believed in them. somehow, her daughter survived but the injury would cost her everything else. she was barely alive when marcia found refuge at the abandoned shopping centre. and with every passing day, marcia is stepping closer to an inevitable fate. however, she refuses to give up on her daughter and is still looking for something to cure her. she got the position as the radio operator, hoping to talk to someone who could help her ( and a part of her still hopes that a part of her family and her husband are alive and that one day she’d get to talk to them ) . she didn’t tell anyone about her engineering skills as she’s afraid that the same thing will happen again.

I've seen a lot of comments regarding Damon's friendship with Alaric in the 8th season, so I'm clearing the air about it.
Alaric had every right and reason to kill Damon, fans should simply be happy in the knowing that Damon made his deal with Cade prior to his death. Matt wanted to kill Damon for killing Tyler. Alaric added to that, killing Damon for killing Tyler and for his children being placed in a dangerous situation.
Young, innocent children. Damon was hanging out with Sybil, Seline, and the twins. Even though he didn't help Seline with the abduction, Damon still could've fought her with the intent to return them to Alaric and Caroline. Rather than fight with the ientent to return them to their parents, Damon had them drive to a motel for the sake of making a deal with Cade.
Because Cade could've chosen the twins over the Salvatores, Damon most certainly put the twins at risk. He put them at risk, and did so for the sake of escaping hell. That's why Alaric killed him. Sybil outwardly admitted that Damon flipped his humanity switch when she first introduced him to hell. One glimpse was all it took, that's how terrified he was and why he was so desperate to make a deal.
So what you get is Cade agreeing to Damon's deal, then Damon's death that would've sent him to hell. The point. Had Alaric killed Damon before the deal, he would've went to hell. He didn't go to hell because he already made a deal to escape it. Terrified of hell, yes. But we're also talking about an Augustine vampire that was tortured for 5 years.
Damon understood Alaric's position.
"You know, at least Ric looked a little torn up when that stake went in my heart. And you looked pretty psyched. But I forgive you, Matty. You've had a lot of tragedy in your life. Here's the deal. Ric was just doing the parental thing, much like what he's doing upstairs right now. Do I want to kill him? Yes, but that's personal. This should be principle."
Damon's intention at their Christmas dinner is to kill someone for Cade. It's his job. Him wanting to kill Alaric isn't about his job, it's about their friendship. Of all people, Alaric should know Damon. He should've given Damon the chance to speak in his own defense. I say this because Damon only had two choices.
Damon's first choice would've been to fight Seline with the intent to return Alaric's children. This choice would've resulted in Damon's death because Sybil wanted to stop serving Cade, so she would've aligned with Seline. This would've resulted in Damon's death, and the twins woud've ended up servants to Cade anyway.
Damon's second choice would've been to do the selfish thing, and despite it being selfish, would've been the only way he could save the children. So what appears to be a completely selfish choice isn't, it's a two-for. It wasn't just Stefan, it was Damon who saved Alaric's children. That's the truth Alaric would've gotten had Damon been given a chance to speak. Instead, Alaric straight-up killed him.
Did this ruin their friendship? No.
"Did I ever tell you why I came to Mystic Falls? I was hunting Damon. He had killed my first wife. Then I found out he had turned her, and that was what she wanted. Eventually, I got past that. I guess I didn't have the energy to hate somebody forever. We've all made terrible mistakes in our lives. Done things that no apology can heal. But you just have to keep going. Try to find some new happiness. No matter how much you've lost. The strange thing is losing those people is what brought us together. It's how we found each other. It's what made us a family."
Here, Alaric put Damon in the family category. As he told Stefan earlier in the season, Damon is the closest thing he has to a brother. Despite this storyline with the twins, the dangerous situation they were put in with the sirens, Alaric trusted one of his daughters to live with Damon and Elena in Legacies. If you'd like to see the mention, it's in 3x9. Alaric has a conversation with Josie in front of Delena's home.
Stop saying Dalaric's friendship was ruined. Stop saying that Damon didn't deserve to get killed. Step saying that Alaric had no right to kill him. A real parent would put their children first, period.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Totally Excellent Adventures of Mack and The D (7x07)
I mean, this was a lot of fun, obviously. What else is there to say?
Cons:
You all know what I'm going to say. I freakin' miss Fitz. He wasn't even mentioned in this one!
Pros:
As soon as I realized that Deke and Mack were going to be settling in to 1982, I immediately thought Deke would try to invent technology early/buy in on stocks for things he knew were going to make it huge. Basically, the same thing he did back in the 2010's, using his future knowledge from the Lighthouse. And we sort of got that - only we got Deke becoming a musician, and "writing" a bunch of famous '80s music that hadn't come out in '82. I loved it! So great! This is what I'm talking about with the show having a lot of fun with the various decades/motifs. Deke saying, with full confidence, "I wrote this song," and then playing the SUPER recognizable opening to "Don't You Forget About Me" was honestly so funny.
But along with the comedy, you see the way in which Deke has really earned his place as an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Put in an impossible situation, trapped in the past, with his only ally an extremely depressed and un-engaged Mack... Deke doesn't just say screw it and try to make a lot of money. He actually recruits allies, works on getting Coulson back, tracks the presence of the Chronicoms, and checks in on the younger Mack, a ten-year-old boy in 1982, along with the older Mack, trying to coax him out of his shell. The episode did such a good job of showing how even though Deke is a goofball and he doesn't always make the smartest choices, he's actually good at what he does, and he's doing his best to help.
All of this makes for a delicious contrast with Mack's arc in this episode, which is all about regaining his hope and deciding to keep the fight alive. He starts off despondent and depressed, and then when he goes to meet Deke, he yells at him for being childish, before eventually realizing that he needs to come around and be the leader he is. It's satisfying to watch, because his depression is so understandable, and yet his resilience still survives, up against terrible odds.
We've also got Sybil and Coulson both returning from the "dead" in the form of robots with their faces imaged on them, which I thought was a funny, low-fi science fiction concept to include here. You even have Coulson mentioning that he's not sure if he's really still "alive", and what does it mean that his entire existence is now made up of a bunch of tech and no flesh and blood? This episode wasn't about the nature of what makes a person themselves... but this season contains that as a major theme and I enjoyed seeing a nod to it here.
Over a year later, and the Zephyr pops back up so the rest of the gang can reunite with Mack and Deke. I loved Mack and Elena's reunion, as you can see how the time apart has worn on them both. But it also gave Mack some time to process his grief and to come back to her with a good head on his shoulders. The circumstances were less than ideal, but Mack might be all the better for that.
Gosh, I feel like there's so much more a person could say about all this goofiness, but I'll stop there. I've been incredibly impressed with how this season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has managed to combine the more zany energy of the premise, along with the darker/more intense personal themes of these long-standing characters. We're rapidly approaching the end of the show, and I'm glad to have been here from day one!
8/10

8x15.
“Yeah, it's happening fast." Bonnie saying exactly how I feel about these final three episodes. They should’ve pulled 22 for this final season because a lot of it feels rushed. Too rushed if you ask me. Hell, just two more episodes would’ve spaced it better. I’m not talking about Sybil and Seline because they were devil servants, so I didn’t expect their arc to take long. I’m talking about the switch from Cade to Katherine, making both of them so easy to kill, then doing a rush job on Caroline’s wedding. As happy as I am about their Delena endgame, they could’ve given certain characters more time. I’m not even happy that they chose to bring Katherine back for the finale. On the other hand, the perfect choice for Damon’s character journey, and I do like the way he refers to her as Kitty Kat.
I love their scenes of Bonnie and Enzo. So beautiful. Damon carrying drunk Stefan home is the best. I love his toast to Liz. I know how much her eulogy meant to Caroline, and Damon was the perfect person to write it. Full circle back to the beginning for those two. Like I said, her character acts as a marker for Damon’s journey. Their road to forgiveness is ongoing, as I feel it should be for her character specifically. She was able to forgive him while in his head, but has yet to be in scene like Bonnie’s was. You might as well imagine it because it won’t happen on screen, but it’ll happen. Difficult to break 145 year old habits and way of living. Love did that for Damon. And he’s taking advantage of every moment since he got his humanity back, earning his redemption. Now more human than he is vampire... imo anyway.
Katherine gifting Caroline something old. A necklace she was shown wearing in some of her flashbacks in past episodes. Something new from Bonnie. Elena’s necklace, borrowed from Damon. I would’ve preferred they not split Alaric and Caroline for the sake of her marrying Sefan only to kill him off in the finale. A complete waste of time if you ask me. However, I did like the return of Matt’s mother. Glad she died because I didn’t like her. She didn’t give a damn about her kids, so I considered her a complete waste of oxygen.
“Did I ever tell you why I came to Mystic Falls? I was hunting Damon. He had killed my first wife. Then I found out he had turned her... and that was what she wanted. Eventually, I got past that. I guess I didn't have the energy to hate somebody forever. We've all made terrible mistakes in our lives. Done things that no apology can heal. But you just have to keep going. Try to find some new happiness. No matter how much you've lost. The strange thing is... losing those people is what brought us together. It's how we found each other. It's what made us a family.”
Alaric’s comment is one of my favorite of the series. It’s the point of Enzo’s scene with Bonnie. If she’s happy, best she not hold onto the hate she feels for Stefan. I love Stefan’s vows because the same could be said of Elena and what she’s been for Damon. Damon and Bonnie dancing is gorgeous. If it weren’t for the way this show was written, I’d have shipped them, but they’re best as friends. I still plan to read the books.
