Three years and eleven months ago, I saw back-then Brooklyn and now Los Angeles-based trio Dreamers for the very first time at one of their SXSW2015 shows. Since then, the band comprised of vocalist/guitarist Nick Wold, bassist Nelson and drummer Jacob Wick sharpened their talents and released one hit single after the other. Their catchy party anthem “Sweet Disaster” still in our ears, it now receives serious competition with “Die Happy”, another banger with crazy catchy hooks.

Nick Wold comments on “Die Happy”:

“I wrote ‘Die Happy’ about sitting on my steps till the morning light with a girl I know. She was chain-smoking and I was talking philosophy, and it all made me think of how those little moments can be the most deeply gratifying, where you just feel like your life is complete.”

With music like this accompanied by lyric pieces like “happy for a moment because you stole my spare time“, we can pause for a moment and sing and dance along while feeling carefree at least for a little while. Listen to “Die Happy”, our Song Pick of the Day:

Tom Westerlin is a creative director with an emphasis on emerging tech and a drive to connect brands and users through authentic experiences. Their work combines creative vision and storytelling with excellence in execution, and resulting in work that is impactful, inspirational and provoking.Nice Shoes Color & Finishing artists specialize in look development - the art of crafting a unique visual language with a full spectrum of color to speak to viewers’ emotions.

Jon Clickenbeard is a long-time storyteller who has created work for film, television, virtual reality, and everything in-between. He has collaborated with some of the world’s biggest brands to blend immersive content and cutting-edge technology to create some of the first and most widely-experienced VR projects, including Marriott’s VR Postcards, The ConVRsation, and most recently First Date, a project in collaboration with Good Brother. Jon also hosts the monthly panel ConVRsations, where working professionals come together to discuss techniques, experiments, and best practices to solve VR’s unprecedented challenges.

Emma Mankey Hidem fell in love with VR in 2013 when she was part of the team who created most of the media for the state-of-the-art College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. After falling in love with (and watching other people fall in love with) 360° video, Emma decided to start her own virtual reality studio and worked toward this goal while still working in video production in DC. In 2015, she quit her full-time production job to fulfill this dream and officially launched SunnysideVR at SXSW2015. SunnysideVR is a full-service virtual reality studio based in Washington, DC with one simple, primary goal: to create awesome, immersive video content for advertising, marketing and journalism. Since launching Sunnyside VR, Emma has shot VR all over the country and even as far away as Nepal and she couldn't be more excited about the future of VR and the ever-expanding capabilities of 360° storytelling.

Kane Lee is the head of content at Baobab Studios, a VR animation technology company that creates story and character-driven cinematic experiences located in Redwood Shores, California. In 2016 Baobab Studios produced INVASION!, which won the 2017 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Interactive.

Charlie Fink is a VR and tech consultant, and former Disney, AOL, and AG Interactive executive. In the ‘90s, Fink was EVP & COO of VR pioneer Virtual World Entertainment and is now a frequent speaker at conferences like CES, AWE, ARinAction, VR Toronto and Digital Hollywood. Fink is a regular contributor to Forbes, HuffPost, and VR Voice, where he writes about AR, VR, and New Media. He is the author of VR/AR 101, Evolution & Revolution, which is due from Cool Blue Press in January 2018. Over the past 30 years working as an award-winning writer, executive, and producer, Charlie Fink has created and launched new media brands for Disney, AOL, and American Greetings. He is best known for coming up with the original idea for Disney's "Lion King" (Bambi in Africa).

Moderator: Bob Fine provides IT strategic planning consulting services to both the private sector and non-profit communities. In 2011 he launched the only printed magazine covering social media, The Social Media Monthly. In January 2014, Bob launched his second print title, The Startup Monthly. In May 2016 he launched VRVoice.co, a content vertical on all things virtual reality. VR Voice is committed to educating and developing the relationships that will propel Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality into the mainstream. They are a membership based media company that is dedicating its resources to creating a community where companies and individuals can communicate with each other in meaningful ways.
