He was already setting off for a mission by the time you had your "Giggles".

At that time he was likely looking for his swordsmaker to sharpen it for him.

He came back from a very long training session, this was the first time he really was tired from it since he pushed past his limits, Though he wouldn't admit it.

He laid down somewhere with you just holding you in his arms, Ever so quietly.. Until you started laughing again!

Then he would pull you back in his arms after that, even though you were still laughing he didnt want it to be ruined with your laughter that would probably go on for hours.

Like the baton-like weapons that Nightwing wields, when the tasers are not engaged, (traditionally called ‘escrima’ in the Philippines) or a bo staff, one side of this sword is not sharped, so as to stun, and not cut. Twisted Stone: How We Got Here

Since I’ve posted some more of Twisted Stone (and more is coming), I thought I would give a brief recap of the series so far. The story so far consists of:

A Twist of Fate Twisted Stone (In Progress)

On October 31st, 1981, The Potters were brutally killed by Lord Voldemort in an attempt on their son’s life. The curse Voldemort cast at Harry rebounded and destroyed Voldemort’s body. Harry was rescued from the rubble of his home by Hagrid. Sirius Black arrived at the home shortly after.

AND THEN A TWIST... Hagrid, knowing Harry was better protected with a fully trained wizard, gave Harry to Sirius to bring to Dumbledore. Rather than doing that, Sirius took off, knowing he had to protect his Godson from everyone, even his allies.

Beneath the cut are our main characters (thus far). Spoilers for both stories. There are also pictures of all of the characters, so you can see how I picture them within the story.

After getting Harry from Hagrid, Sirius dedicated his life to protecting the son of his best friends, even if it meant travelling the world as a fugitive to escape Dumbledore. He would create a family when he discovered his ex-girlfriend had secretly had his own, biological son. The pair would eventually marry and have a third child.

Wanting to protect his family, Sirius chose to remain at home with them, although he did become a mechanic for magical vehicles. He reluctantly reconciled with his mother and upon returning for England for Harry’s schooling took over the Black Family School Governorship.

Realizing Sirius’s betrayal made no sense and Dumbledore was manipulating the situation to get Harry where he wanted, Remus abandoned the Order to support Sirius. He became an uncle to Sirius’s children. His second attempt at Muggle University was foiled by an attack by Death Eaters, but he settled into work as a freelance translator and journalist.

Ever the voice of reason, Harry often turns to him in his most troubled times.

Sirius’s off-and-on girlfriend became his first ally when he escaped with Harry. Thinking he could beat the news of his supposed betrayal, he was able to explain to her the situation before Dumbledore could manipulate her. She had a very compelling reason to believe him: their son, James John.

Yuki dedicated herself to her family, becoming mother to Harry as well as her own children. She taught them all in Mahō Budō in order for them to protect themselves. She would study alchemy under Nicolas Flamel, so she could become a swordsmaker, receiving a request from Albus Dumbledore for a copy of Godric Gryffindor’s sword. Shortly before Harry began attending school, she mastered Animagic to help Remus.

Despite being on the run since he was a year old, Harry Black grew up loved by his adoptive family. He cared for them so deeply he completely disavowed his identity of Harry Potter. While he recognizes the sacrifice James and Lilly Potter made for him, he feels Sirius and Yuki are his true parents.

Brash and headstrong, Harry is prone to anger and cockiness. But he knows that there is danger out there waiting for him. He plans to meet it head on, not waiting anymore people to suffer in order to protect him. He knows his adoptive grandfather, Nico, was attacked for the Philosopher’s Stone and he’s going to do everything he can to stop Voldemort’s followers from getting it.

The second child of Sirius and Yuki Black and their first biological child. He was born at the tail end of the War against Voldemort, while the pair were split up. He was named James John after his two of his father’s best friends, with the hope from his mother they would reconcile. This would become the case when Sirius went on the run.

He was raised on the run along with his elder brother, Harry. He idolizes his older brother and the pair are the best of friends, due to being so close in age. JJ misses his brother terribly now that he’s gone to school. His only comfort is his recent friendship with Ginny Weasley, a girl his age who is also waiting to go to Hogwarts.

The youngest child of Sirius and Yuki and also the only girl. Shy and studious, she lacks the the bravado to her elder brothers. She looks up to both of them, particularly Harry. She’s very cautious and doesn’t like to cause trouble.

She is still very young and only time will tell if she will eventually develop the Marauder spirit so prevalent in her brothers.

One of Sirius’s few allies when he was on the run, Frank used his position as Deputy Commissioner of the Auror Department to give him head’s up if anyone was ever getting close to finding him. He felt empathy for Sirius, knowing that it could have very well been his own son who was targeted by Death Eaters.

After Bellatrix Lestrange’s attempt on his life were thwarted and a second attack by other Death Eaters resulted in his mother’s death, Frank and his family went into hiding along with the Blacks. They became a blended family of fugitives. Frank even became a bear animagus in order to help with Remus’s werewolf transformations.

As she was in the same year as the Marauders and Yuki, Alice was very close to them when they were in the Order. She even briefly dated Sirius while in school, until he convinced her Frank Longbottom wasn’t too mature for her to pursue. She gave up her career as an Auror in order to raise her son, Neville. She considered returning until she discovered she was pregnant a second time with Lex.

Along with her husband, she travelled with the Blacks in order to protect their son from Death Eaters. While she loves her family, she misses life as an Auror. With their return to England, she has made the decision to rejoin the ranks, knowing another battle will be coming. Like her husband, she’s become an animagus in order to help Remus.

The Boy Who Was Overlooked, despite Voldemort choosing to mark Harry as his equal, Neville’s life has been drastically touched by the prophecy made that could have applied to either boy. Only Bellatrix Lestrange attacking a street full of Muggles prevented his parents from being attacked. Later, another group would attack them, causing the death of his grandmother and sending his family on the run.

Neville has been travelling with the Black family for so long, he sees Harry, JJ and Noriko as siblings as much as his own younger brother, Lex. He is more cautious than Harry and JJ, trying to be the voice of reason in their adventures together. Now that they are in school, he’s trying to keep Harry in check, despite Harry’s instincts to find the trouble that is looking for him.

The younger son of Alice and Frank. Lex was only a baby when Death Eaters attacked, sending his family into hiding. He grew up alongside the Black family. He is close to Noriko Black, who is only a few months older than he is.

Being so young, he does not remember as much strife as the rest of his family.

Even as a child, Nymphadora was certain of her second cousin’s innocence. While visits were sporadic, she grew up with the Black/Longbotom families. Harry, JJ, Noriko, Neville and Lex all looked up to the older girl, thinking she was the coolest. Her mother was often aggravated by Sirius encouraging Nymphadora’s wild streak.

While she was in school, Nymphadora developed a crush on her Muggle Studies Professor. Not realizing it was a Professor she was after, Yuki encouraged Dora to pursue the object of her affection. Dora took Yuki’s advice and won the heart of Professor Quirrell. Because of her age, he took a sabbatical while she finished school, so not to be tempted. When he returned from Albania, Dora Tonks was on the way to becoming an Auror. Dora is uncertain why her boyfriend has been acting so strange since his return…

On the train ride to Hogwarts, Harry made his first friend outside of the family in Ron Weasley. While his bonds with JJ and Neville are unwavering, he has already developed a close friendship with Ron. Ron greatly encouraged Harry to try out for Quidditch, despite Harry’s initial reluctance, due to Oliver Wood being more interested in his broom than Harry’s skills.

Ron is frequently baffled by Harry’s odd ways of doing things, due to Harry’s international upbringing.

Since the moment they met, Harry has had a combative relationship with Hermione. She found him to be an arrogant troublemaker. She was, however, very interested in his multilingualism and study of Mahō Budō.

Harry sought Hermione’s help in figuring out why Death Eaters would be trying to hurt his Grandpere Nico. She later became hurt when she believed Harry was just using her for her knowledge. Harry is confused by his friendship with Hermione, especially after they shared their first kiss together shortly before they were attacked by a Mountain Troll. But Hermione has now been accepted as part of Harry’s gang.

auverse misaki and friends!

misaki- a swordsmaker with a competitive streak, her main “rival” being a red haired “overrated shirtless boy”. she was separated from her twin brother at birth due to her natural ability to resonate with inanimate objects, but more recently has taken up swordsmithing as to further the connection. and kick that overrated boys butt too. shes elegant and graceful, with a slight affinity for foxes

tanjiro- an assistant admiral whos usually on the go. dense and soft hearted, he dotes on a particular deliveryman, calling him “senpai” and obviously infatuated (tho completely oblivious that he is as well). but also a hard worker who uses his emotions to his benefit, a compromising and diplomatic type whose very perceptive to others

tadeo- a deliveryman for his parents’ shop, but has a reputation as a bit of a “hero”, helping out everyone who may need it. hes mutually infatuated with tanjiro, but utterly unaware of the returned feelings and believes his feelings to be unrequited. popular with people regardless of gender, and sweet and caring

chihaya- an amnesiac young man who was taken in by a famous swordswoman. however, she was suffering from an illness and disappeared and presumably died from it. now her protege remains, faithfully holding and honing her famous sword until she returns. hes good natured and enthusiastic, and as romantically charismatic as tadeo. tho has a “rival” in gudako

gudako/cleone- a mysterious traveler who often says perplexing things. she says she is a warrior, but what her speciality is is anyone’s guess (she claims its the shield, but also that she herself doesnt fight with one?) and despite hanging out with misaki and the others frequently, she often seems bitter and sadly nostalgic around them

ichihara- a young man, enrolled in a small military ish branch? tends to downplay his abilities and views himself as weak willed. a bit of a chuunibyou, he is always thrilled when people make wild assumptions on the subject of his chipped teeth. he lives with the eccentric arisato, and despite bickering views her as an older sister

arisato- an eccentric inventor who works mostly with metal, despite possessing some magical talent prefers to keep them separate- working w metal is her passion and love after all. she basically does repair work for the most part on appliances, and treats them all with love as much as she treats ichihara with teasing. however she hides more than her piercing gaze behind glasses, and underneath the smug grin is self doubt stemmed from a family steeped in magic who she strives to break away from

rilian- a mysterious sleepy young woman who seems to always be disinterestedly napping

so the plot twist is gudako/cleone is from an alternate universe where the seven others were the seven crypters. in this universe she and the others were forced to actually legitally kill all of them. gudako is post this, having defeated the last one and ended up traveling to another dimension- this one. its like a personal hell seeing the smiling and friendly faces of those whose lives she had to take.

and the second plot twist is they are actually the ones from her universe- her friends before the universe forced them all to compete to the death. they are the spirits of those seven, with only the wish that she be at peace with them and not guilt herself over the inevitable outcome. it even turns out that rilian is alive, having survived the final confrontation, which is why shes always disinterested and sleeping due to being alive in her own world

It’s Widowmaker. In this au she kills Mondatta, who’s Tracer’s master (she’s an apprentice swordsmaker) and Tracer then sets off in revenge for “the woman with seven eyes”. Because it was Widow’s helmet that she remembered. the helmet had a pattern of seven eyes on it.

The Swordmaking Legacy of Longquan

The Quest of A King

Legend has it that an ancient ruler of China, King Chu, once called the greatest swordsmith of the land to make him a few masterwork weapons.  That man’s name was Master Ou Yezi.   Ou heeded the King’s command and traveled far and wide, looking for a place in which he could make such weapons.  He finally found a suitable place – one with plentiful iron for smithing, special water for quenching, and suitable stones for grinding.  The name of the place was Lonqquan.

There, Master Ou spent three years of labor, painstakingly crafting the blades the King wished for.  In the end, he created three swords: Longyan, Tai’e, and Gongbu.  The first sword, Longyuan, means “Dragon Abyss”, and was named such because its shape reminded the viewer of someone standing at the top of a tall cliff and looking down.  The second sword, Tai’e, means “Great Mountains”, and was named so because its soul existed in the mountains where the sword was forged before being contained in the sword.  The last, Gonbu, meant “Exquisite Cloth”, due to it feeling as smooth as silk when touched.  The King was pleased with these swords, and Master Ou’s name has been revered among Chinese swordsmiths since that day.

LongQuan

Nestled by the tallest mountain in the province, the town of Lonquan still holds much of its ancient beauty.  Surrounded by forest and a nearby a river, this quiet town contains the top swordsmiths of China.  Supposedly the water in the river has minerals that react with the sword during quenching to enhances its sharpness and resilience.

Getting there is a journey – there are no airports or major transport hubs.  Once there, one can visit the many swordsmithies in the area.  Swordsmaking is a tradition handed down from master to apprentice that has been passed on for centuries.  Unfortunately, this tradition is in danger as fewer apprentices choose to make swordsmithing their career due to the hard work and low pay, instead choosing to look elsewhere for job opportunities.  The quality of Longquan swords is unmatched, with local smordsmiths having made swords for foreign leaders, movies, and for wealthy clients who can afford to pay for the months of work it can take to make just one high-quality sword.  The swordsmithing of Lonqquan has been recognized as an Untangible Cultural Heritage of China.

Fun Facts

The ancient name of Longquan is actually Longyuan (the same name as the first legendary sword made by Master Ou Yezi).  Due to a later leader named Yuan, the name was changed out of respect and to avoid naming conflicts.

The art of swordsmithing was originally imported into Japan from China.  Now history has come full circle, with Chinese smiths having imported the knowledge from Japan for making Katana and other Samurai Swords.

we’re only so lucky that the ones with highschoolers are few and far between. the swordsmaker episode is the second high school girl ive seen in like the 150 episodes ive watched which still isnt great but at least theyre outliers in the series. like you can still say the series is good and people know you arent talking about the one episode with the swordmaker in it.
