Wimsicott is shiny and i think it would be funny if you actually couldnt tell if john was pranking you about not knowing it was a shiny or that genuinely he didnt realize it was a shiny. Wimsicott is also because they're silly lil pranksters!!!! lil guys!!!

Togekiss is because they appear in times of peace and given Johns avoidant personality, I feel like he would also dip and just return during the peace (i say that as if thats not heavily implied to be canon)

Altaria is literally a cloud (/j). you cant get more breath then that- but Altaria is also musical!!! Which given John plays piano and has to play it for his quest, I feel like it really works

Grimmsnarl is also a prankster! Though his pranks tend to be a bit more mean spirited, which I believe plays well into how John can't really read the room and goes with his flow, so sometimes pranks aren't welcomed but he does them anyways

Inteleon is because when I was imagining what John would get as a starter, I landed on three choices and ended up going with Inteleon because I feel like he'd take a look at swobble and go "Oh my god am I a father now?" like with casey!

(rainbow swirl) is because it's described to have a complex flavor and I feel like that fits John! It's a desert, as a reference to his dad and the entire Crocker family
