Progress Update

There’s been some delays with properly revising the first five chapters. The university semester is done at the end of April for me and I will have waaay more free time to write and post updates. Definitely did not forget about this.

Hilda’s Full Team

Starter: Chimchar

Final Team: Infernape, Staraptor, Floatzel, Lopunny, Rampardos, Leafeon, Togekiss, Drapion, Electivire, and Froslass. 

Hilda Shiro is twenty years of age and is from Snowpoint City. Her family lives in Castella City, Unova. She selected Chimchar as her starter Pokémon. Due to a lot of positive feedback on including Hilda as a side character and the many requests to feature her as a main protagonist I’ve decided to flesh her out more and strongly consider having her travel with Leia. 

Here are her possible teams for if she becomes a member of the Sinnoh Elite Four (Bertha retires or Aaron is replaced) or if she becomes a member of the Sinnoh Gym Leaders (undecided as to who would go). I also want to create a third position that is on par with the Gym Leaders / Elite Four and call it Warriors, they use a mix of types - “Warrior Hilda”.

Chapter Overhauls

Yoooo, so as previously mentioned I am going to change the opening chapters. It will start differently with Leia at Sandgem Town and heading to Lake Verity. Professor Rowan tells her about the rumored legendary Pokemon Mespirit at the lake and she wants to go see it. This new introduction will have way more characterization of Leia and Piplup. Delays the lab break in and Jubilife events.

Cynthia (Shirona) is the Champion of the Sinnoh region. This full roster of all her Pokémon is gathered from the in-game appearances in Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, White, Black 2, White 2, Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, and mobile spin-off Pokémon Masters.

Chapter Updates

Eventually I want to add a new starting chapter.

It feels a wee bit sudden to me to have Leia start off with Piplup and in the same chapter get Charmander, Snivy, and Shinx. The new first chapter will be added with starting at Lake Verity instead of Sandgem Town and it’s just Piplup. While at the lake Leia bonds with her starter after spending a week with Dawn, Lucas, and Barry going to Beach Rose and Twinleaf. The route from Sandgem to Lake Verity is short and would only take an hour of walking. Trying to merge the real life aspects of travel with the game travel times. I also like the idea of Leia catching Shinx before the laboratory has a break in. Anyways, if you see a chapter shift that’s why.

Did you make the new region map?

Yes I did! 

I made it several years ago for a roleplay I had created on a website called ChickenSmoothie. I wanted to have more towns, cities, and other locations that were only seen in the Sinnoh anime seasons. I took the official game region map and then added the new locations based off of their anime descriptions. Some of them had more exact geographically spots that others according to the anime’s information. Some of them are never specifically mentioned to be near anything so I guessed and tried to space them out. Arrowroot and Daybreak are not as close to each other as the map makes it seem. The only context for them is that they are by Sunnyshore. 

The Mystic Forest and Silver Falls Forest are not apart of any official canon, I had just made them up for the old roleplay. That arena of the region is already so heavily depicted as woodlands that it made sense for there to be more forests aside form just Eterna. 

I’d like to update this map as it’s kinda pixelated and old looking.

Rival Trainers

Naturally, as on any journey, Leia meets other trainers who become her rivals. These three characters are from various games and their names are (from left to right) - Hugh, Victor, and Maro. These three are her primarily competitive rivals aside from Barry, Hilda, and a few others.

Hugh, originally from the fifth generation games Black 2 and White 2 he is the primarily rival of the protagonists Nate and Rosa. He choose Mudkip as his starter. His hometown is Veilstone City and Hugh is twenty years of age. Hugh has thick spiky navy blue hair and brownish red eyes.

Victor, originally from the eighth generation games Sword and Shield he is one of the available player characters. He choose Chespin and is from Floraroma Town. Victor is eighteen years of age. He has shortish coffee brown hair and light brown eyes.

Maro, originally from the second generation / fourth generation games Gold and Silver + Heartgold and Soulsilver he is the player character’s rival. In the games he is actually named Silver. This was changed to have his name be derived from ‘maroon’. Maro’s hometown is unknown to Leia and he stole Bagon from Professor Rowan’s laboratory. He is also seventeen years of age. Maro has long dark red hair with light grey eyes. He has suspicions interactions with Team Galactic.

Chapter 1 Teaser

Leia begins her journey across the Sinnoh region. Professor Rowan makes an unusual request of her in light of recent events. Full chapter coming.

"Professor?" The scientist said. "She's here."

"Miss Astra. I expect you are wondering why I asked Mr. Diamond to bring you here. By this point I expect you have either been told or gathered from your surroundings that the lab suffered a great loss in the last few hours." Professor Rowan said, solemnly staring out the fragmented glass. "Earlier today, before the laboratory had opened someone broke in and stole a rare Pokémon from my personal care. Over 80% of Pokémon are known to partake in evolution and I had just begun to conduct my research on the young dragon type Bagon. Their motivations are currently unknown- whether this was the work of a single individual, a gang, or something more I cannot be sure. One thing I am certain in is that I must ask something of you, Miss Astra." He said, turning around to face her. He wore his usual attire consisting of dark loafers, black slacks, a white button-up shirt, a blue vest, and a grey tie. In his hands Rowan held two Pokéballs.

"We are very fortunate that the marauder did not lay waste to the whole laboratory. They only thing missing was Bagon. These two were still here safe and sound along with this." The Professor explained and gestured to Lucas's father to show Leia that a Pokédex was left untouched. "Miss Astra, I am asking you to take this Pokédex and these two Pokémon- Charmander and Snivy -with you." Rowan declared sincerely. "My two young lab assistants- Miss Berlitz and Mr Pine each have a Pokédex of their own and Mr Pearl would have been given one had he not dashed out of my lab so quickly." He said becoming momentarily distracted. "Nevertheless, these two Pokémon will be safer with you and I believe they will benefit your journey greatly." Rowan said holding out the two Pokéballs. Leia accepted his offer and released them from their capsules. Piplup also burst forth and greeted the new team members. The three of them looked up at Leia before going back to playing. These were the last starters Professor Rowan had at his lab- his team of experts were breeding more for the future trainers.

The Pokédex was the newest model, the professor told her. It resembled a smartphone and was equipped with the latest technology. Not only would it identify any Pokémon before it but it would also work as an electronic version of her Trainer Card ID. Leia's Pokédex was primarily grey in color with purple markings. Holding it she swiped up to activate it and it picked up the three Pokémon and added their entries. Satisfied with his task complete Rowan turned again to peer out the shattered window.

"Miss Astra, it would do you well to be wary of any trainers you may come across with a Bagon. Before anyone arrived at the scene they escaped- the thief in the night. This mystery person, or persons, remain in the shadows with their motives concealed for now. I fear this may be the criminal doings of Team Galactic... they have been known to steal Pokémon before..." Rowan said trailing off as he was lost in thought.

"Here is the phone number for the lab- should you ever need to call." Lucas's father said, handing her a slip of paper with a string of numbers written on it.

"Thank you, Professor Rowan. I will not let you down." Leia stated.

The Sinnoh region is plagued by the mysterious Team Galactic but that hasn't prevented a young hero from embarking on her Pokémon journey in pursuit of quests for glory. Plot basis follows Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Generation IV games - with their hopeful remakes eventually added. Elements are also taken from the four seasons of the anime set in the Sinnoh Region (Diamond & Pearl, DP Battle Dimensions, DP Galactic Battles, and DP Sinnoh League Victors) with regards to characters and setting locations. Major events from various Pokémon movies (including 4 - Celebi: The Voice of the Forest, 5 - Heroes: Latias and Latios, 8 - Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, 9 - Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, 10 - The Rise of Darkrai, 11 - Giratina and the Sky Warrior, 12 - Arceus and the Jewel of Life, and 13 - Zoroark: Master of Illusions. There are also several influences from the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games that appear- most notably Steven Stone and Latias.

Additionally- in the core series games you can only have six Pokémon in your player character’s party before they start being sent to the PC Box. This is being done away with to allow for ten members of the party. Similarly, Pokémon in the games can only learn four moves at a time before one must be forgotten- this is changed to six moves to allow for greater variety (the post with the full team evolution list has their move listings- it will be changed because it only features offensive ones currently. Like in the anime Pokémon do not always need a a Technical Machine  or Hidden Machine (TM or HM) to learn a move. Also, in the core series game the Professor only gives the player character one starter Pokémon... not three as in this story. This is changed to allow for type variety and as a special factor to Leia Astra’s character since Professor Rowan has never been known to give more than one Pokémon to any new trainer.
