Happy Fan Joy July, Oma!!!

Oma, thank you so so much for making Fan Joy July and sharing it with us! Our fandom, our artists, writers, readers, etc have loved seeing or taking part in this crazy challenge.

This is our gift to thank you- from artists all around who were affected by, or got gifts from, or took part in Fan Joy July. We all love you so much- so we made letters/art for this (Zelda themed!). Many said that they had already wanted to make/write you something, and this gave an opportunity.

One of the things I've loved about this month is how community/interaction centered you made it. The challenge was for yourself to make art each day (you absolute maniac /affectionate)- but then others joined. This July we saw or made art or fics with recommendations. Every day you made art for a writer with a scene from one of their fics, and inspired others to do the same, and writers even wrote every day for an artist based off an art piece they made! This led to a month of gift giving- everyone interacting and getting love for creating.

You truly led to a month of Joy for a lot of loz/lu fans- making the name "Fan Joy July" quite accurate

I'm so grateful to all my artists who stepped up so we could do this when I asked- almost 36 hours and 19 artists. The art is like patchwork, with all these different styles, both traditional and digital put together. But that's exactly what happened- we all got drawn together, just like the other month-long challenges. It's so cool how art always connects people.

There are letters based off of the colours/theme of each of the Lu boys- it's mainly Zelda and linkeduniverse themed... but we couldn't not have frogs for Oma! I did a frog, his name is Froggy and I'm very proud.

The Dads!

The Cinnamon Roll with Hidden Skills (Rusl) - A farmer and blacksmith, Rusl is used to the quiet and simple things in life except for all those times he goes on secret undercover missions and has years of fighting experience under his belt and is like a Hero of Hyrule in his own right. Gentle, definitely the most emotionally intelligent of the bunch, with just enough touch of chaos to be able to put up with the other two and simultaneously throw them both for a loop sometimes.

The Tired and Paranoid One (Abel) - This man needs that 100 year sleep almost as much as his son. Was definitely a Workaholic in his glory days, put duty before everything, kind of hates himself sometimes for it and other times just... doesn't have faith in himself anymore. Or anything. But he's a hell of a fighter, very protective and tries to be honorable... most of the time. He will slit someone's throat if he has to, and he more often than not thinks that he has to. He's a survivalist, not a knight. Not anymore. But he tries to still have a soft heart and help others.

The Otherworldly Bizarro Mildly Terrifying but Soft One (FD) - Nobody knows a lot about him except that he can kill an army with one hand and has no idea how social situations (or people in general) work. Sees everything tactically because that's all he's ever been used for. Softie at heart but do not make yourself a threat. Ever.

The Sons!

Brother Wolf (TP Link) - Absolutely will protect the hell out of the other two. Unfortunately stuck in wolf form for a long while because he doesn't want to transform in front of anyone, so kind of has to deal with that. Very worried about his Dad, last time he saw him he was unconscious!

Coma Boy (BotW Link) - So much personality. Sleep. More sleep? Some more sleep. Maybe he can moan sometimes! Kind of dying, actually. Maybe Fairy Boy and Brother Wolf can help somehow.

Fairy Boy (Hero of Time) - Quiet, sweet, reserved, cold all at once. Nice to Wolf because he's a wolf. Nice to Coma Boy because he's in a coma. Cold as ice to literally everyone else. Will help someone but never get close to them. Knows how to kill way too freaking well for his age. Kind of bitter but doesn't bring it up much. Has no clue that Fierce Dadity is on the hunt, thinks they're on their own.

Honorary Dads!

Mr Upstanding Citizen (FSA Dad) - Everybody loves the manga, apparently lol, but also he seems like a cool character. So he's like... there? Sometimes? I guess?? Abel is in awe of him. He doesn't know how to take it.

Linebeck. Just... Linebeck - I don't know what he's doing here, and he doesn't either tbh, but I just love his character so much even if I know next to nothing about him, the game he's in, or the Hero of the Winds. This is @smilesrobotlover's fault, I don't make the rules. He just comes and goes as my brain pleases.

Honorary Sons!

The Captain (HW Link) - Technically is the one wearing FD's mask, so in Fierce's eyes he's already protected and safe. Except for all the PTSD he's been dealing with up until this point and the now nearly fatal magical fatigue he's building up from being Fierce's host for so long. But he was in trouble, needed help, and kind of sort of vaguely recognizes that Mask is in trouble too and isn't bucking against the possession. What little of his consciousness registers it, at least.

The Pirate (Hero of the Winds) - I don't even know, guys, if Linebeck is here I guess Windy Boy is too. He's somewhere out at sea blowing things up and the Yiga have no freaking clue how he got there or how to get to him. Oh, and he found FSA Link and they're bffs.

The Boys (FSA Link) - I know nothing about this little quartered muffin, he's just vibing with his Pirate Friend, I guess, but if his Dad's an honorary member who comes and goes as people please then I guess FSA Link is too. OR or he actually fought off the Yiga and he's fine at home and is now freaking out because Dad's Missing Oh No

I've definitely been learning a lot with this challenge haha. I like to think I've been getting faster at backgrounds! And it's definitely been a learning curve to do a background for EVERY SINGLE ONE.

I'm hoping I can learn to be more dynamic with my shots and staging in the future! I can tend to be a bit boring with my "cinematography"(if that's what's we wanna call it).

I know your Linebeck father's day snippet is meant to be lighthearted and silly (and it is! I like it) but that last bit of Linebeck telling Link to not come back bleeding could be used for angst purposes 👀

Link gets injured and doesn't have resources to stop the bleeding/recover but remembering what Linebeck said he purposely avoids returning to the ship despite bleeding out.

Apparently I am incapable of keeping anything shorter than 500 words...

Anyway, I've been looking through a lot of @smilesrobotlover's Strangers Across Eras stuff and figured "hey, why not just dump a bunch of hyperactive toon Links on Warriors?" So here we are, 851 words later.

The problem, Warriors was beginning to realize, with having teenagers was that they were at that unfortunate age in which they're not exactly adults but they're also not exactly children. More specifically, they were expected to be mature like adults and be obedient like children.

Due to the nature of their situation, he had been saddled with the responsibility of supervising the younger members of their group for the day. Originally, he had planned on recruiting his younger brothers to help him run some new cadets through their paces, but somewhere along the way they'd been detained for a meeting and it had snowballed from there.

Spirit was staring at the map on the table with a blank look on his face that meant he was thinking about trains again. Green was making an admirable effort to pay attention, even if he did seem very confused by all the technical jargon and lingo that was being thrown around. Vio simply appeared fascinated, eyes wide with that fervent curiosity he possessed. Blue had excused himself to go to the bathroom 20 minutes ago, and at this point Warriors was pretty sure that he'd have to pull him out of whatever trouble he'd gotten into later.

The more pressing concern, however, was how much Red and Wind were wiggling. They were beginning to reach dangerous levels of wiggliness, and Warriors knew from experience that if he didn't find a way for them to blow off all that energy then there would be consequences.

Red bounced his leg just a bit too high and it was only Warriors' finely-tuned reflexes as a hero that prevented the victimized tea cup from rattling off the edge of the table. He carefully set it back down near the center of the table with relief.

The queen lifted a regal eyebrow ever so slightly in their direction.

Warriors gave her a tense look back, trying to convey the sense of urgency the situation required.

She looked away, redirecting her attention to the Sheikah who was speaking.

Red continued to bounce his leg despite Green trying to casually push down on the knee next to him to stop the perilous fidgeting.

Warriors spent the next several long minutes preventing porcelain from crashing to the floor and carved figures from tipping over and rolling away.

They were beginning to receive more and more impatient looks when the tension was finally broken by the sound of the queen sighing with exasperation.

"Captain, you and your brothers are dismissed. I will have the minutes copied and sent to your office later today."

The younger heroes perked up, sensing the sweet promise of freedom.

Warriors stood up and gave her the acknowledging bow required of etiquette, then proceeded to herd the boys out of the room and into the hallway.

As soon as they left the meeting room Red bolted, and if it hadn't been for Warriors' prior experience with Mask and Wind, he wouldn't have been able to catch him before he made it out of reach.

Red squeaked in surprise and scrabbled at the arms suddenly encircling his torso. "Put me down!"

"Nope. You know the rules."

"Sky and Twilight don't have to do the buddy system! It's not fair!"

Warriors grunted as Red started kicking his legs and trying to squirm out of the bear hug he'd been trapped in while the others watched with amusement.

"Twilight can both bench press a wagon and bite a man's hand off if he wants to. And Sky killed a god. As far as I'm concerned, he can do whatever he wants."

"It's still not fair."

"You know what the rules are and you know why we have the rules. I'm not explaining it again."

He didn't bother waiting for an answer, nothing good would come of entertaining an argument, especially one with such stubborn people.

Luckily for him, it seemed that only Red was interested in making a run for it, and the others were preoccupied with poking fun at each other and running around him in circles.

They really didn't get much of a chance to just be kids...

Before they left the castle, he took the opportunity to pull aside a Sheikah and ask them to make sure that Blue got home safely. He was definitely going to be treated to a lecture at the end of the day, but the supervised freedom would hopefully help him blow off some steam.

Somehow he managed to get the rest of the gremlins to the public garden that Zelda had established near the castle.

Finally confident that they couldn't get into too much trouble in the confined, albeit large, space he let Red wiggle to freedom and shooed them all off in the direction of the duck pond before sitting down on a bench to watch the ensuing shenanigans from a distance.

They had some hours before they needed to head back, so maybe if he was lucky they could wear each other out and get all that wiggly, hyperactive energy out of their systems for the day.
