8 dead, 19 hurt in bus-truck collision on Agra-Lucknow Expressway

Sleeper bus, carrying around 40 passengers, was en route from Lucknow to Delhi when it rammed into the truck

PTC Web Desk: A tragic accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway near the Auraiya border in Kannauj district claimed the lives of eight persons and left 19 others injured. The collision occurred in the Sakarava police station area during the early hours of Friday, involving a sleeper bus and a truck.

The sleeper bus, carrying around 40 passengers, was en route from Lucknow to Delhi when it rammed into the truck. Police and emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, taking the injured to Saifai Medical College for urgent medical care.

The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police visited the accident site to oversee rescue operations. Uttar Pradesh Water Resources Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, who happened to be travelling nearby, stopped to assist in the efforts. He ensured that the injured received prompt medical attention and provided support to the rescue teams.

Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar stated, "A collision between a bus and a water tanker occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Emergency services and police responded immediately to manage the situation."

The police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, while relief efforts are underway for the victims and their families.

He added, “Our efforts should ensure that the BJP’s philosophy, principles, and ideological foundation reach the people. According to the BJP’s constitution, youngsters should play a significant role in organisational expansion through consensus-based elections.” Tawde also underscored the importance of inclusive representation, urging the party to ensure adequate participation from all sections of society, particularly women. “Alongside organisational expansion, we must analyse sociopolitical conditions and bring capable leadership to the forefront,” he stated. The workshop was attended by key leaders, including Uttar Pradesh BJP Chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, Election Officer Mahendra Nath Pandey, General Secretary (Organisation) Dharampal Singh, and former state presidents Ramapati Ram Tripathi and Swatantra Dev Singh. District-level officials, election officers, and leaders of various party wings also participated in the event. Chaudhary provided an update on the progress made during the first phase of Sangathan Parv. “We conducted workshops at district levels, followed by mandal-level workshops. We are now advancing organisational elections at the booth level,” he said. Pandey outlined the progress of the election process, stating that elections for 98,000 booth committees had already been completed. “By December 5, all booth committees will be formed,” he added. He also provided a timeline for the upcoming phases, which include the formation of mandal committees by December 10 and elections for 1,918 mandal presidents by December 15. General Secretary (Organisation) Dharampal Singh shared that the BJP’s membership drive had achieved significant success, with 2.6 crore general members and 2.05 lakh active workers enrolled. Firoz Nadiadwala's Welcome To The Jungle hits a snag after receiving a non-cooperation order from FWICE for alleged non-payment of Anees Bazmee and crew members' dues.

Producer Firoz Nadiadwala is in hot water after making his long-awaited announcement for his new project Welcome To The Jungle on Akshay Kumar's birthday. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), a Mumbai-based film industry workers union with over 500,000 members, has issued a cease-and-desist order against Nadiadwala and his prospective behemoth Welcome To The Jungle.

In a letter dated September 9, 2023, the FWICE president accused Firoz Nadiadwala of failing to pay dues to various artists who performed in Nadiadwala's Welcome Back in 2015. Director Anees Bazmee, makeup artist Bashar Khan, cinematographer Kabir Lal, actor Adi Irani, actor Mushtaque Khan, and actor Swatantra Bharat are among the performers. Director Bazmee is owing Rs 2 crores on his own.

Anees said in an interview with this writer during the release of Welcome Back in 2015 that Firoz had agreed to pay him Rs 11.27 crores as his directorial fee. He only paid him Rs 6.64 crores out of this. Anees had given up Rs 2.62 crores freely. Anees merely asked Firoz for Rs 2 crores from the delayed payment. This does not appear to have occurred. It appears that Firoz's past ghosts have returned to haunt him, and there is no way he can move forward with his grandiose 24-actor Welcome To The Jungle without first paying the artists who collaborated with him on the previous film in the hilarious saga.
