Swaran Salaria: A Political Biography

Swaran S. Salaran, winner of the “Rashtriya Ekta Award” of 2002 have had an exemplary trail of work which still is in continuation.

His contributions in the society unfolded a phenomenon which transpired to be a model for his contemporaries. Swaran Salaria was the ex-youngest director of world association of detectives (U.S.A. of India) and the ex-chairman of the state commission of protection of child right, the government of Punjab. Apart from the various accolades he has received, his presence itself has been a gift, for his social works had a deeply embedded impact on the society. When Gujarat saw the destructive forces of an earthquake, arrangements were made by him to initiate evacuations and supply medicines to the people affected for 45 days. His affiliations to moderate the mid-day meal schemes in schools during his time as an executive member of the SSRRC committee of Hare Krishna Temple (Juhu) had helped many children.

Being an altruistic person that he is, he has carried Yog Shiver campaign in Pathankot, under Yog Guru Swami Ramdevji, where he provided basic needs to men, women,and children for six days. All of these expenses are willfully carried by him and the same has been extended to ventures that included donations. He provided donations to the Mini Bright Future Mentally Challenged School, Goasainpur and further extended such donations for the provisions of a school hostel. He has made a considerable amount of donation to institutes that helped many helpless children, some of the institutes where his donations went are M.C Asha Kiran School for Differently Abled Children, Usha Mata Minar Public School, SMSO Rajput Sr. Secondary School. His involvement in uplifting the youth had also seen to have its manifestation in the donations given to Maharana Pratap Youth Club, Behrampur.

Apart from his inclinations towards philanthropy, his political positions at BJP also saw consolidations since he had been in a number of exceptional positions over the year. He had been the national executive twice, Co-convener of the national industry and trade cell, permanent invitee as a Punjab state executive member, chairman of the state election campaign during Lok Sabha and a member of the delegation of national BJP president Nitin Gadkari.

Since he also hails from a business background, he has been the chairman and the managing director for many companies such as Chintpurni Medical College & Hospital in district of Pathankot (Punjab), Trig Guardforce limited, Trig securities and detectives Pvt Ltd, Salaria industries ltd, Slim SammAirways Pvt. Ltd., the white hotels and Proclean hospitality Pvt Ltd.

Lok Sabha Elections: Sunny Deol files nomination from Gurdaspur

CHANDIGARH: Actor and BJP candidate Sunny Deol on Monday filed his nomination papers from the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat in Punjab. After paying obeisance at the Golden Temple and Durgiana Temple in Amritsar in the morning, Deol filed his nomination in Gurdaspur.Deol was accompanied by his brother and actor Bobby Deol. Punjab BJP chief and Rajya Sabha MP Shwait Mailk, Haryana finance minister and party's election incharge of Punjab Capt Abhimanyu and Akali leader Gurbachan Singh Babehali also accompanied Deol. Deol will be addressing a rally at PUDA ground in Gurdaspur later in the day. Senior leadership of BJP and SAD will also be present in the rally. In a tweet, veteran actor Dharmendra sought support of the people for the victory of his son Sunny Deol from Gurdaspur seat. "We seek your support...Support us...it will be your victory. It (victory) will be of brothers of sisters of my Punjab. Sporting a navy blue turban and blue shirt, the 62-year-old Deol offered prayers at the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple on Monday morning.He also offered prayers at the Durgiana Temple. The BJP has fielded Sunny Deol, a Jat Sikh, from Gurdaspur constituency. Deol is pitted against sitting MP and Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar, AAP's Peter Masih and PDA's Lal Chand in electoral fight from Gurdaspur seat. After filling his nomination papers, Deol will be addressing a rally at PDA ground in Gurdaspur. Senior leadership of the BJP and the SAD will also be present in the rally. After the rally, he will leave for Mumbai for casting his vote. Currently, the Gurdaspur constituency is represented by Congress MP Sunil Jakhar, who won the seat in the 2017 bypoll, which was necessitated after the death of Vinod Khanna in April that year. Congress wrests Gurdaspur from BJP Jakhar wins by huge margin

English News - The ruling Congress today wrested the BJP bastion Gurdaspur as its candidate Sunil Jakhar won the Lok Sabha bypoll seat by an impressive victory margin of 1,93,219 votes.

Jakhar polled 4,99,752 votes while his BJP rival Swaran Salaria polled 3,06,533, poll officials said.

Aam Aadmi Party nominee Major General (Retd) Suresh Khajuria was at the third sport with 23,579 votes.

The seat had fallen vacant after the death of BJP MP Vinod Khanna in April this year.

The poll was seen as a prestige issue for the ruling Congress which won the assembly polls six months ago.

The Congress won this seat after the 2009 Lok Sabha poll when party candidate Partap Singh Bajwa had won this seat by defeating BJP candidate Vinod Khanna.

Khanna was four-time MP from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat. The actor had won this seat in 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014.

An elated Jakhar thanked voters for the resounding victory in the bypoll.

"With this victory, people have reaffirmed faith in the leadership of Amarinder Singh," said Jakhar.

"The BJP must read the writing on the wall now," Jakhar said and added that the "People have rejected the BJP and also shown mirror to (their ally) the Akalis".

"Now, I think this (Gurdaspur win of Congress) will be the beginning of disintegration of SAD because nobody has seen Prakash Singh Badal for the last six months. The new leadership under Sukhbir Singh Badal is on the verge of disintegration. I think the entire SAD is going to be reformed under some new leadership, I believe," Jakhar said.

Congratulating Jakhar, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said it is a victory for the development agenda of the Congress.

"The massive win for Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar shows the people's complete denunciation of the corrupt and immoral BJP and SAD," the chief minister said, adding that it also underlines the "political annihilation" of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state.

"Jakhar’s victory comes as a strong rebuttal to the persistent Akali efforts and campaign of the past six months to undermine the work being done by his government in the state," he added.

"For AAP, this election marks the end of its political ambitions in Punjab," Amarinder Singh said, pointing out that the dissolution of the Pathankot and Gurdaspur units of AAP a day before the declaration of the results showed that the party had conceded defeat.

Hailing the Congress victory, Punjab cabinet minister and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu likened the party's victory in the bypoll to winning a Test cricket match by an innings and said it would have a "demoralising" effect on the BJP-SAD combine.

Meanwhile, Both the BJP and the AAP accused the Congress of misusing official machinery to win the bypoll.

AAP candidate Maj. Gen. (Retd) Suresh Khajuria also accused the Congress of using "undemocratic means" in the bypoll.

"Ruling party used undemocratic means in these elections. People were scared and youth was almost absent in the bypoll. If they (Congress) win then that victory will not be a respectable one," Khajuria alleged.

Swaran S. Salaria- A man of few words and many deeds!

It is rightly said that legends are not born but are moulded in the fiery furnace of the circumstances society puts in front of them. Swaran S. Salaria is one of the youth leaders of India who is redefining the traditional notions about a politician. His involvement in humanitarian work is not only reflective of his qualities as a responsible citizen of our country but also an indicator of his commitment to the betterment of our nation. Presently working as the National Executive Member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Salaria has established new benchmarks for the budding leaders of India. Mr Salaria was also involved in the rescue work after the Gujarat earthquake. He made necessary arrangements for helping in evacuation and supply medicines and food to the affected people. He arranged a contingent of 500 volunteers to help in the relief work. His contributions to the general good of the society can also be identified in his donation to the Durga Jyoti Manav Kalyan Samiti which organizes eye camps for poor women, children and men on a regular basis.

Swaran S. Salaria has also accomplished many laurels in his political career with BJP by serving in different crucial positions from time to time. Encouraging the rights of the children along with their development, giving them a chance to become the youth of the country is the foundation of a strong and progressive nation. However, these days, many children are abandoned from their rights, suffering from violation to a great extent. They do not attain an opportunity to visit a school and get the right education they need. They are left on the streets to beg for themselves. They experience a variety of violent acts from many culprit people. Sometimes, they are left behind for not getting even the primary healthcare.

This violation leads to inhumane and cruel treatments given to children every day. In the current times, many people belonging to the society, political parties have come together to stop this kind of violation, in which the children are deprived of their rights. One of the most popular personalities in Indiais Swaran S. Salaria, who have contributed a lot towards helping children, who are getting abused by others. He totally apprehends the child rights including the right to survival, right to protection, right to participation, right to development etc.

He has taken many initiatives to assist poor and helpless children in carrying out their education in a proper manner. He has opened a private school for children.
