Tell us about your family back home :3
Oh gosh, where to start. I've told you lot plenty about Ethel, won't stop me from telling more!
She's about as sweet as a peach cobbler after a day workin' out in the winter cold. The kind of woman who somehow always knows just what you need, offers her shoulder to cry on, and genuinely can empathize with..anyone. She's just about the loveliest lady around. Well, when she wants to be. She can be as fierce as she is sweet, especially when it comes to the kids- or me, surprisingly. As great as she is at controlling it she's got the temper of a momma bear when someone crosses the people she cares about, and won't hesitate to unleash her internal Russian babushka on you! But if you're kind and respectful, then you'll be welcomed with open arms. She used to love hosting neighborhood events for all of the kids; every year she'd have me dress up as Santa, we'de buy little gifts like stuffed animals, toy cars, and animal figurines, and go door to door visiting any houses with children. She always dressed up as my Misses Claus!
On Easter we'de spend a good two or so HOURS hiding eggs all around the neighborhood park, have the parents bring their kids, and let them have a huge Easter egg hunt. She adored our neighbors; truth be told, everyone loved her too. Once we had a scare; shortly after the twins were born, they found a mass on her uterus. We were terrified waiting for results after the biopsy. Just about every day we'de have neighbors visiting, offering to babysit, bringing us snacks and food. Thank God it ended up being nothing; but, really did open our eyes to just how strongly she managed to pull our little community together. Ethel was like that; people gravitate towards her. Her demeanor, that smile that could clear my brain in seconds and leave me speechless. She was *beautiful*. Inside, and so help me god, DEFINETELY outside. Feel bad she got stuck with a shmuck like me!
Then my kids. The two troublemaking boys, Asher and Ace. They aren't fraternal, thank God; Asher got my (albiet longer and less thinned) blondeish-brown hair and dark eyes, and Ace got his mother's darker brown hair, and pretty green eyes (My dad had green eyes; carried the gene over.) love them to pieces; I swear, even with everythin' else that's happened in life, I've never cried as hard as the day they were born. Holding them in my arms, even screaming their tiny little heads off? Perfect, most love-filled feeling in the world. Even if part of me always wanted a baby girl. They're perfect; even when they cause trouble. Asher is the wiser of the two. Which, helps them get away with more. They love playing pranks on me; Hiding all the sweets, hiding water balloons under my pillow, and once when they were younger, they used the food dye bottles from our kitchen to dye Jaxson BLUE! Nicknamed 'em 'Blues Clues' until the dye finally washed and faded out.
Asher was the orchestrator behind most of these; and, once found out, was proud of that fact. Ace is the free spirit; and I mean that in the BEST of ways. While Asher liked staying home with Ethel and reading or watching her sew and knit, Ace was the one who wanted to go fishing with me, go on hikes, and occasionally tag along with me to work back when I was stationed on the ground working ship maintenance at the harbor; before I was needed to be sent up. We went between drawing and babbling away while I worked, to intently watching me, and even trying to help (which, I usually had to decline, promising he could always help me out when he was a little older and less likely to get me in trouble!) Ace best reminds me of- ahem. He's really similar to Daisuke. They're probably be best friends if they met.
But life at home was good. Every night, after the kids got into their pajamas, I'de curl up with them and tell them bed time stories. Their favorite being one I made up about a pirate who traveled through space! Ethel would join in, sometimes she'd tell the story. We'de all be snuggled up, usually on me and Ethel's bed, and then send them to their rooms to sleep afterwards- or on the occasion carry them to their beds, when they fell asleep laying in our arms mid-story. If wasn't perfect. Me and Ethel had our little scraps..but nothing ever big. The kids of course had their moments, but they always made up. We were *happy*.
And God, I can't wait to get back home to them.

ppl dont talk about the fact that even Daisuke's characterization is affected by Jimmy's unreliable perspective. He refers to Daisuke as a spoiled rich kid who has his mommy and daddy behind him, that he's impressionable and stupid, and i do see people kinda characterizing him like that
like he has these rich parents who will dote on him and give him everything, that he's an airhead who isn't good at anything...
yet in curly's perspective we see that he's good at board games, he's trying his best, he's trying to listen to swansea and learn from him. He did get the internship from his parents but not because he wanted to, but because his parents thought he wasn't going anywhere in life, that he needed to be doing something. Daisuke is silly and a positive person but that's just for show, we see in the scene where Jimmy finds him lying on the floor drunk on mouthwash, that Daisuke isn't doing well, he's scared and feels sad about his parents. He makes jokes to cope with the horrible tension on the ship.
people characterize him as a stupid little kid too much for my liking, that's how Jimmy sees him. As a spoiled brat who came on the ship just to be an inconvenience. Even Swansea didn't see him like that, sure he complained about him but in Daisuke's final moments we see Swansea's true colors and how much he actually cares for him. He's an adult, who's putting on this happy go-lucky persona because he truly wants to succeed in life, and he's doing the internship for his mom and dad even though he doesn't want to. So he makes friends, he tries his best, he wants to be on the good side of everyone on the ship.
Jimmy just saw him as an easy target, someone too trusting and easily manipulated. A stupid kid he can use to get what he wants. He even plays with Daisuke's feelings of needing validation from Swansea, someone he looks up to. He tells Daisuke that by going in the vent, he'd make Swansea proud.
Daisuke isn't someone who has it easy or someone who's a stupid airhead. Jimmy just saw kindness and positivity as weakness.

Catalyst
so in my au which i'm totally not using to cope or anything haha, after realizing that curly isn't going to do anything about jimmy, anya confides in swansea and he goes Protective Dad Mode. i'm calling this the "Responsibility AU." ramble below cut.
swansea doesn't immediately go after jimmy with an axe or anything because 1. they're not in a high stress life/death crash situation and 2. anya specifically requests that swansea not enact violence upon jimmy after swansea says, and i quote, "i'm gonna beat his ass." anya just wants to feel safer and more supported on the ship—she doesn't want swansea to get in trouble even if jimmy does deserve to get destroyed by 10000 punches.
what swansea can do is watch out for anya and make sure she's never alone in a room with jimmy. if there's a situation where she has to be alone with jimmy (like the psych evals), she and swansea have a system where she can signal for help. with anya's permission, swansea asks daisuke to help look out for her too (without telling him the details as to why since that's anya's right to share or not). daisuke has already picked up at this point that something is wrong based on how much more hostile swansea's become towards jimmy, and he trusts his boss, so he agrees without much question.
anya, feeling less alone now that she has people watching her back, gains more confidence to stand up to jimmy. which makes him angry because his unwanted advances are being denied and swansea and daisuke keep getting in his way. he just can't understand why he's being treated as the bad guy here (this is because he is a delusional asshole).
meanwhile curly is slowly realizing that he needs to actually do something here because the tension in the crew is palpable and increasing by the day. also swansea is being mighty passive aggressive to him and talking about "responsibility" a lot. curly keeps trying to talk to jimmy about it but the guy just keeps downplaying it and blaming everyone else but himself. and curly is realizing that his friend isn't who he thought he was.
it all comes to a head one day when an angry jimmy tries to confront anya alone and swansea steps in. things get heated, people start yelling. curly show up to see swansea and jimmy on the verge of fighting with anya and daisuke trying to hold them back respectively. curly breaks up the fight. jimmy storms off. curly follows him and finds him trying to get the gun from the case in the cockpit. curly asks him why he's doing this and jimmy claims it's for his own protection because he feels "threatened by swansea." he tells curly to give him the code. curly, the sheer wrongness of the whole situation hitting him, finally calls jimmy out on all his bs. jimmy just laughs in his face, still believing that he's not in the wrong and curly doesn't have the guts to do anything anyway. so the captain fires him on the spot. jimmy snaps and he and curly get into a fight in the cockpit. jimmy is trying to crash the ship and curly is trying to stop him. then the rest of the crew show up and anya knocks jimmy's ass out with the gun case. swansea is so proud.
they throw jimmy in the cryopod so they don't have to worry about him pulling anything else and he can be properly dealt with once the stupid delivery is over. everyone's like, "wow that was a close one—could you imagine how messed up it would be if we ended up in a crash because of jimmy? thank god that didn't happen." curly makes swansea the copilot until they can get a replacement and swansea's like, "goddammit as if i don't already do enough shit around here."
anyway my whole goal here was to get rid of jimmy early so i can have beautiful Found Family shenanigans in space with the rest of the crew. apologies and healing and happy times will happen. no the whole getting laid off thing doesn't happen. no i don't have an explanation for it. sorry for the essay.

You and your dad had an unbreakable bond. Ever since you came to the family, that man was attached to you by the hip.
He was a typical dad, throwing dad jokes around, carrying you around his shoulders, hanging your silly drawings on the fridge. Yeah, it was safe to say that he made you feel loved.
When your younger siblings came you were more than excited, you tried your best to suppress your happiness when your dad put your baby sister in your arms.
Just a child carrying a baby, how cute, your parents cooed at the sight.
But your dad never stopped giving you attention when your siblings were born, a matter of fact he tried his best to get you to bond with them, and it worked.
The more you grew up, the more you started discovering yourself. Everyday you'd find yourself a new hobby, and that hobby of yours started to show more in your teen years.
Your dad was actually thrilled but didn't show it. Like, one day you made him lunch, the second day you sculpted him, the other day you made him a scarf. Dam, he was proud.
School competitions? Yeah you joined them, and somehow won each single one (just imagine Swansea standing next to you with a smug grin on his face as he looks at the parents of the other contestants).
Then it hit him, it hit your dad that you weren't a child anymore, you were 17, your birthday in a few months. He was a bit heartbroken but knew that's how life is. You reassured him that you'll frequently visit them.
And that's how it went, you moved out, got a job, and started living your own life. But since you never really had any friends besides your co-workers, you payed frequent visits to your family. It was great, sitting at the dinner table and talking about your life and job.
Your mom did ask you about your dating life, it got a little heavy on you, but you did tell her that you were 'waiting for the right moment' and she let go of it.
At the mention of your job, your dad brought up the topic of his new job that he had applied to recently, apparently he was going to be a mechanic in a tulpar or something.
It... Something felt wrong, your gut was telling you that there was something wrong with what your dad had applied to. You brushed it off as you had nothing to say about it.
Until that day came, the day your dad left for the job. Before he went he spend a good time around you and your siblings. You made sure to hug him tight before he left, he joked about wanting to find a grandchild when he comes back from the job, which made your mom and sisters tease you about it.
Then he left...
For a few months nothing seemed out of the ordinary. You leave for work, hang out with your colleagues then visit your family. Nothing unusual.... Right?
It was when you stepped inside your family's home, a box of baked goods in your hands as you sat on the couch. Your sister practically snatched the box out of your grasp and inhaled half of the box's content.
You really didn't care as an uneasy feeling crept up your stomach. Brushing it off you looked at your mom who was busy on her phone. Taking a hold of the remote, you scrolled through channels, from one to the other. You kinds zoned out a bit, snapping back to reality when your mom dropped her phone, staring at the TV with a mortified expression. Looking at the TV screen, the colors on your face drained as you listened to the reporter's words.
The tulpar went missing...
Without missing a beat, you rushed to the bathroom and threw up from shock.
Why... Didn't you stop him from going?...
We're you scared that you'll come off as paranoid?...
Scared that you'll come off as clingy?...
Scared of disappointing your dad?...
Now look, he's now in the middle of space, in the middle of god knows where with limited food and resources to survive!
You were disappointed in yourself, you could've stopped him but you didn't.
After the incident, you quit your job and moved back to your old home to support your family. It wasn't easy, just thinking about what might've happened to your dad made you sick.
You'd gotten yourself a new job near your home. You were in control of the house now. Your mom became less energetic than she used to be, but you didn't care, you let her rest and have some time for herself.
As for your younger sisters, they started skipping school a lot, you went to the school yourself, to try to explain the situation to the school council to at least have some empathy for your sisters.
It was a draining job, you felt yourself become less and less bubbly than what you used to be. Your manager noticed it and decided to give you a break.
You wanted to cry, everything about this was overwhelming. You missed your dad, the guilt was eating you alive. Why did things go so wrong?
And that became your routine, maybe drive your sisters to school, comfort your mom, do your chores then lay on bed and cry yourself to sleep.
It was like your hope was completely shattered. You became more depressed those passing days, neglecting your own needs as you were busy helping out your family. Your mom took notice and tried helping you, pulling herself together so you can at least have a rest from all of this.
But what did you know? No one knows where your dad is, and it's your fault. You could've stopped him. But here we are.
Now you laid on the couch, staring at the ceiling just hoping something good would happen to at least give you some motivation to stay alive.
A slam from the door made you jolt up. You looked up to find your mom looking sweaty and rushed. When she saw you she screamed at you to get in the car. Absolutely freaked up, you sat in the passenger seat as she drove.
You were sure the police would pull you over at any moment by how fast your mom was driving, maybe crash into a few cars, but she didn't and that was good.
When she parked the car you found yourself at a hospital. Your mom dragged you there with her as she went to the elevator. Now inside, she stood there, shaking up. You wanted to ask her what had happened but didn't as your voice was stuck inside.
As soon as the elevator door open, you were dragged again to a room. Your heart was beating fast, your body sweating a bit from anxiousness.
The nurses let you inside the room. Scanning the room, you felt your jaw drop, there was your dad, sitting on the hospital bed with his left eye remaining and a scar on his forehead. Your eyes became hot with tears as your legs made you move to your father.
You immediately dropped your head on his lap as you sobbed. You felt like a kid again, as if you've woken up from a nightmare and went for your parents for comfort.
I mean... It was some sort of nightmare....
You managed to calm down a little. You felt your dad's hand on your head, patting you.
Moving to sit on the chair that the nurse provided you with, you looked up, seeing your dad stare at you.
"So, any grandchildren?..." You started crying again.
Tumblr media
Your mental health have started to get better when your dad came back, your younger sisters were sobbing hard when they saw dad alive and well.
Seeing everything now back to normal, you suggested you move out again since you've done your job, but you had no other choice as you were forced to stay by your parents.
Now in a better mental state, you quite your job and got a new one at a cafe. You enjoyed your time there with your new co-workers. The customers were nice as well. It's as if a weight was lifted off your back.
Working at that cafe, you've met many lovely customers, but one had caught your attention. He came to the cafe every week, would order something then sit at one of the tables and do his thing.
He had brown hair, brown eyes, a scar in the middle of his face and some moles. He was cute. Wait what.
You never had an eye for anyone, so whys a random guy that visits your cafe suddenly cute? Weird...
Whatever, but these days, you've noticed something about him, he never orders, unless you were the one taking orders, you also noticed how he'd always tip you, despite your job paying you well. Does he.. Like you?.. Nah there's no way.
It was raining heavily outside, there was barely any customers, so you took your time to clean up the tables. You then made your way back to the register, made yourself something to drink as you waited for a customer.
Soon, the door bell rang, looking up from your phone you found no other than... Him.
"Hi what can I get for you?.." God your tone sounded rude, gotta work on that voice..
"Oh hey uhh, the usual you know.." He said awkwardly, scratching his head before looking away, sliding the cash on the surface of the register.
The usual was caramel frappe, sweeter than normal and some heated molten, he got a sweet tooth...
While doing his order you snuck glances at him, just to find him staring back.
Now placing his order in a tray, you made your way towards him, setting the tray down, you steadied your feet to walk away. "Hey! I'm sorry.."
You looked at him, he was wobbling in his seat as he tried to find his words. "So uhm... Can we.. Get to know each other?..."
Looking around the place, it was still empty, no customers, even if there was a customer, your co-worker Matthew would've delt with them so... You sat with him on the table.
The conversation was awkward at first, he confirmed your name and introduced himself. The conversation escalated quickly, you found out that you had a lot in common, you both the same age as well as you both had a passion for art.
You found yourself giggling at his jokes, amused by his humor. He also asked a lot about your interests, and like that you began to explain everything to him. Although, you were avoiding eye contact with him as he kept staring at you the entire time and you felt shy.
The night passed quickly, before he left, he handed you a pink envelope before walking out the door. Looking at the clock, your shift was going to end in a few minutes. You were curious about the envelope. Impatience and curiosity are the worst combos, being both, you opened up the envelope to find...
A detailed sketch of you, behind it he wrote his number and asked if he can go out sometimes...
Your heart skipped a beat when your brain processed everything. That night, you came home all giggly and smiley, your family took notice of that but didn't comment.
In the past new days, your family, especially your dad, took notice of your change.
At first, you didn't have a big skin care routine, but now, every morning, you're up early making sure everything's nice. Same with your clothes, you didn't pay much attention to your looks, now you're over here making sure you didn't wear the same fit twice.
Sometimes your parents caught you packing food in a tupperware while going out.
Something was off...
While your family wondered what you were up to, you were enjoying your time with Daisuke.
Few dates from time to time escalated to daily ones. He'd take you out to movies, restaurants, parks and cafes. He was a gentleman, doing cliche things to you every now and then.
He holds the door open for you, feed you sometimes, share his food with you and hold you close.
He started inviting you over to his place, it's when you started packing food you'd make for him.
And yeah, he's touchier in private, whenever you're at his place he's technically glued to you. Cuddling was his favorite thing to do whenever you watch a movie.
Not gonna forget to mention the gifts. He's always making you something. Either a drawing or some origami, and you loved them.
It took the both of you a few weeks to get comfortable with each other, with that, Daisuke started planting kisses on you everywhere, forehead, cheeks, lips, neck and hand.
And those weeks made you comfortable enough to tell your family about your new partner. You arranged a day for them to meet him and get to know him. Your dad was the one that suggested that idea, as he wanted to know if that boyfriend of yours was a real one or not.
Telling Daisuke about it, he was more than thrilled about the idea, he even asked you what outfit he should put on. It was quite the show. And the day finally came...
You, your mom and your sisters stared at the two scarred men in front of you. They were holding some... Intense eye contact.
Your dad's expression was unreadable while Daisuke pressed his lips together, a smile forming on his face as he tried to prevent himself from laughing.
"Pfft... L-long time no see..." Daisuke muttered before bursting into a fit of laughs. Snapping your head at your boyfriend, you looked back and forth at him and your dad.
"Wha- wait you know each other?!.." You asked, looking at your dad whos face-palming. "Yes.."
The dinner table was full of conversations, one side from Daisuke and how he was at the tulpar, the other Swansea exposing him and spilling the embarrassing things Daisuke had done.
After all, you all enjoyed the evening together. (But Swansea kept asking you for grandchildren)

Tumblr media
━━ ❝ CURLY
Curly would be definatly an older brother.
He would be those type of brother who would take care of their siblings all the time, 24/7
He would like to go out with you as much as he likes to go out with his friends.
He would be the type of brother to ask if someone is bothering you at school, and if you give him a name he would take care of it for you (giving the kid a long ass talk that they would never forget)
Even being a caring brother he would not share his things, have boundaries
He would always talk sense into you but if you disagree he would be mad
But not for long, he would quickly come back and apologize if he went too far into disciplining you
I can't see him as a immature brother, even if you were older he would still be the caring one
He would always come to you for advice and look up to you as if you were perfect
But not everything is flowers, he would also snitch you to your parents
Want to secretly go out at night? You better make him believe you're at home or pay for his silence, otherwise you're busted.
"Mom and dad are going to be so mad at'ya!" "They won't even know this happened!" "Oh yeah, they are going to know"
━━ ❝ DAISUKE
I can see him as a silly younger brother
He would absolutely use all of his brain power to get you out of your mind
He's definatly eating your food and saying it wasn't him
He would be the type of brother to smack your head and run away from you suddenly
He would always ask for your help when doing homework but he would end up making you do it for him
Even though he would be playfull, he would also be really lovely.
Nothing too much clingy, but he would always share his things and help you with anything he can
He would always have his parents by his side, but also look up to you
If you're more successfull then him in something he would be proud and jealous at the same time
I can see him ditching your lovers to your parents and getting you in trouble at least once a week
He's the type of guy to go out and have a fun day with you if you're sad, he would do anything to see you happy
"Give me one cookie" "no" *gives you the cookie*
━━ ❝ ANYA
I can see her as a middle sister
She would be the smart one in the family and would always try and help you with anything
I have a feeling she would like to cook you sweets in her free time
When she goes out and see something that reminds her of your she would buy it and gift it to you
She wouldn't like you invading her personal space, she likes to be around you, but she needs her alone time
I can't see her as a clingy sister, but I'm sure she would always confort you if something went wrong
I can see her playing videogane with you but unplugging your controller and pretend you're playing when you're actually not
She's the type of sister to hold your secrets with her life
She wouldn't snitch you to your parents, otherwise, she would be the one to help you with your wrong doings
"Wanna go to this party tonight?" "Mom said we can't go out" "Are you telling her?" "No" "Then it should be fine! Let's go"
━━ ❝ SWANSEA
I can see him as a much older brother, but acting like the younger his whole youth
He would definally be the one who brought you your first alcoholic drink
After he stopped drinking he would force you to stop too as if he's not the one who's addicted
He would take you in car trips as soon as he got his drivers license
He would be the one the buy you fast food in secret when you weren't supposed to
He's also someone who you can trust your secrets with, he wouldn't tell your parents (he know he has worse secrets)
He would protect you from every bully, but not like Curly would, he would actually beat a teen up
Not much though, just enought for them to stop harassing you
Would teach you how to drive and make you take him home when he was drunk in some bar
You would be really friends with his wife and he would make sure of that since she's the most important woman in his life
Would definatly call you anything but your name
"Wanna sip?" "I'm underage" "so?"
━━ ❝ JIMMY
Can see him as a spoiled young brother
He would definatly be the type of brother to eat all the cookies who were meant to be for you both
He would like to watch series with you on his free time
He would be the one who thought you how to punch someone to protect yourself
He wouldn't ditch you to your parents, but only if you gave him something for it (money)
I see him as the type of brother to ask you to land him money and then never pay you back
Would take you with his friend when they go out but wouldn't let you talk to no one so it turns out super boring
I cannot think of Jimmy in a brotherhood way, for me he's definatly an only child
"Can I borrow 20?" "Yeah, but for what?" "So I can pay the 40 I owe you"
Tumblr media
F/n: Swansea and Curly were the most fun to write for, they just have this vibe! Also, sorry for Jimmy, I REALLY can't see him as a brother, but I did my best hehe

What are your thoughts on the mouthwashing characters?
FIRST ANON ON MY BLOG LETS GOOO
Andkdedjeidheidheu there is so much I could say. Where to start.
Curly is sooooooo. He makes me insane. I need to put him under a microscope. There are so many posts on my blog where people have talked about him in far more eloquent terms and I don’t know how to succinctly explain him in a way that wouldn’t take 10 paragraphs. But yeah. I love him so much even though he kind of sucks,,, blorbo from my game.
I want to beat Jimmy with a bat. Swansea should’ve ended him. The way the game leaves you in the dark about everything at the very start and you slowly find out about him and how shitty he is. I wish I could say I hated him but he’s such a good character that I can’t help but acknowledge him for his place in the story. As a person though. Horrific.
Swansea reminds me a lot of my dad 😭😭😭 which is kind of nice. I think he’s a really good guy and his relationship with Daisuke makes me incredibly miserable. Big Swansea fan, I should draw him at one point.
I LOVE DAISUKE SO MUCH IM GLING TO CRY HE DIDNT DESERVE WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM. He’s the babygirl of all time and he means so so so well, but he’s in such a shitty situation, like. My poor boy. Alexa play “I Bet On Losing Dogs” by Mistski. I think he’s really cute and pretty and also a really miserable character once you peel back how happy he appears to be. He just wants to make his mom proud and find his way :((((((
Anya. Oh my God. She’s so so so gorgeous and she makes me so miserable. She’s trying her best but she never expected things to get that bad, and she’s trapped in a tin can with the man who raped her. What the fuck. The fact that I have to purposefully seek out information about herself because otherwise we don’t learn about anything her because Jimmy doesn’t give a fuck. We learn more about her in the tiny stargazing scene with Curly than any of her conversations with Jimmy. It’s so. I can feel that she’s SUCHHHHHH an interesting person, but we just don’t get to know a lot about her!!!! I love her so much and I want her to take anxiety medication and go on holiday to Switzerland or something.
The embryo monster thing freaks me out and fascinates me in equal measure. I hate it.

my silly little hcs
more under the cut
Curly
comes from a very very very big family, the kind of australian family that always has either a slow roast or a grill on at all times. their house smells amazing. but no food lasts longer than 10 minutes.
went to college with jimmy, absolutely had a weird fling with him that he doesn't really think about anymore. if you ask him about it he just shrugs "ah yeah you know, we were young. still figuring stuff out" and jimmy is in the corner still recovering in the worst way possible
had a dog when he was younger named harry, he was a boston terrier
actually wanted to join the air force and be a real pilot, but he had to settle for next best and applied to be a freighter pilot a couple years later after becoming burnt out in his early 20's when pony expressed picked him up, he offered the job to jimmy when he was 25
Smokes with Jimmy, totally shouldn't. Anya gives him a serious glare every time he does it, but she doesn't turn down a cigarette either, depending on the day
is sort of ? dating anya ? its a bit complicated, its become a situation of waiting for the first person to act first (they never do)
voice claim - bluey's dad, bandit
Anya
comes from a very small village, she moved away from home when she turned 19 to go pursue medicine in america, unfortunetly it got pricey very quickly, and she was unable to finish her courses, but kept applying regardless until pony express approached her. shes been with them ever since
had a white cat when she was younger named roan
her younger sister got married as soon as she turned 18, which made anya feel a little left, she felt very "behind" and ended up making some questionable relationship choices because of this. realized that was stupid a little too late.
has a very obvious and very terrible crush on curly, doesn't do a very good job at hiding it but thankfully the man is very dumb and hans't realised it yet (neither has she) (daisuke brings it up once and she almost dropped her favorite mug)
doesn't have her license, and probabaly never will. she rides a bike everywhere, is definitely some end of the hippie spectrum but never has enough free time to truly commit to that.
she has a habit of chewing her fingernails whenever she is nervous, so she paints them regularly to try and break the habit. Her favorite color is actually orange.
voice claim - diane nguyen
Swansea
despite what many people think, Swansea actually got divorced on relatively good terms with his ex-wife. As he was sober entering the relationship, and ended it. He still talks to his kids, and laments over how they sound just like Daisuke sometimes. They'd be around the same age too.
he actually hates coffee, and can't stand the taste of it. Tastes like dirt to him, and would rather drink something sweet or even tea if it's an option. He sometimes drinks coffee if it's the only thing though
Curly was actually his intern for a little while when he first started out, he was helping out carrying boxes and moving stuff around to help him get acquainted with the layout of the ship or to put those young legs to work. They go back a little, so it means something to Swansea to see him achieve what he has. He would never admit it publically, but he is proud of him.
He wanted to play instruments when he was younger but never got much say in it considering how quickly his life fell apart. So he settled for the first thing before him to get him out of that pit, and it just stuck.
He plays card games in his spare time, usually practising. Now that he has a victim, he beats Daisuke at everything.
Swansea actually did not trust Jimmy at all when he first came on board, said Jimmy reminded him too much of a weasel. And he kept that right up until the end.
He notices a little bit of his own kids in all the crew, and it's definitely something he internalizes like crazy. Being so far away from his own kids, he tends to let them lean on him a little more than he should and would make a poor Captain for this exact trait. He just can't bring himself to be too strict, and even after reprimanding Daisuke, he feels extremely guilty, even if it was an important lesson. His sentimentality gets to him easily, but he tries to not show it.
Voice Claim - Ron Swanson
Jimmy
Wanted to be a cop at some point.
He doesn't speak to his sisters, they've long left him or gone off to go do their own thing. He's better off without them anyways.
He met Curly when he was younger, and wanted to desperately be his friend but didn't know how to express that. So he hit Curly over the head with his lunchbox, and they've been friends ever since. Curly took it as just roughhousing, something he was very used to in his large family.
He is allergic to cats, and constantly sneezed around Daisuke in the first few months.
Jimmy actually hates playing board games, he thinks they're extremely boring, but it was very hard to say no when Curly would drag him into them every time. It got the point where he had to start purposefully avoiding him until he got over this phase.
After Curly graduated early and went off to go to flight school, Jimmy dropped out. He was studying finance and law. Went on a four-year bender, and got himself stuck in multiple dark pits that he thought couldn't get any deeper until he ended up somehow on Curly's doorstep. Curly has been working hard to essentially rehabilitate him to a healthier life. Jimmy hates this.
Totally doesn't have a huge crush on Curly still, it rots him to his core at how disgusting it is. Half the time he doesn't even know if these feelings come from desperation, genuine love or anxiety of being in that pit again, and he rolls his eyes at the idea of even discussing it.
Despite being very lanky, he is not the most acrobatic man ever. And is quite clumsy, he tries to hide this but Curly always notices and it drives him nuts.
Voice claim - Bojack Horseman
Daisuke
He has three cats back at home. Junebug, Jazzy and Ducky.
Daisuke actually really likes pokemon, but unfortunately, he didn't bring any games with him. He complains about it almost daily.
Even though he beats Anya in board games, he will probably never beat Swansea. He's so jealous of the card deck he holds.
Has an even bigger sweet tooth than Swansea somehow, and absolutely split one of the last few candy bars from the vending machines.
His mother is a writer, and his father is an architect. He wanted to pursue art but felt like it was very lacking in comparison to his parent's achievements. He didn't resist when they gave him the opportunity to intern, but It wasn't fantastic news either.
Daisuke is actually extremely smart in very technical stuff. He will repeat the dumbest string of words, but accomplish something only a master electrician could in seconds. Swansea and Curly don't understand how his brain works, but it gets the job done. (Its the Autism)
Daisuke is actually terrified of doing something without his parent's permission. He was never an extremely rebellious kid, and it always felt weird to do something without them knowing or their permission first. He was a nervous kid and wasn't always sure if what he was doing was the right thing to do or if he was doing it correctly. This was a habit that got on Jimmy's nerves very quickly.
Daisuke sings in the shower, very loudly. He brought his own walkman, but unfortunately, that got misplaced somehow and he's been bummed out ever since. In return, Swansea and Anya let him have choice of the music sometimes to make him feel included.
He doodles with Anya, showing off their art skills to each other. Anya has a portrait he drew of her in her office desk. She loves it.

how do u think swansea's relationship with his family was like
I think he had an average relationship with his family.
Like he was an okay father and his kids were okay. They had average accomplishments, nothing to throw a party over in his mind but they got a special dinner or a simple gift. They went into average fields and are ok people. He never got a world’s greatest dad mug but he knows his grandkids and his kids call him. He’s not proud but he’s not exactly disappointed, just wishing they were more I suppose.
He loves his wife but he stopped liking her. They go out more as people who’ve known each other for a while rather than a couple. She’s his permanent companion and he’d never leave her but sometimes he wonders if it was right. He’s to old to actually question it but he wonders about it like an old memory. The feelings mutual. They are an okay couple.
I think Swansea loves his family but he doesn’t like them. His whole deal is sort of being disillusioned with the “good” life. The proper life is so dull to him, he’s gotta give too much and he doesn’t really have much to give. He doesn’t neglect them but it’s the bare minimum so they know he cares. It’s mutual in a sense that’s all they know. It’s sad in a way it’s not. It’s telling that he prefers to celebrate his sobriety by buying himself something like sneakers rather than an event with his family.
They are more of a reminder of what he’s not and what he can’t go back to rather than an active reason not to. They are a fine family and that’s his problem. It’s just fine.

So I watched a mouthwashing playthrough the other day and haven’t stopped thinking abt it. Like. Ok undercut bc spoilers
ANYWAY Listen man I know the point of mouthwashing is that everyone but curly dies + the only way to stop it all was if curly either got to jimmy before he fucked them over or for jimmy to have not been a massive bastard in the first place. I know.
but by GOD do I wish they lived. I wish they lived and someone took an axe to jimmy instead. I wish we got to see them being space buddies more and actually finishing out the trip and moving forward together, for curly to maybe advocate for bringing them with him to whatever new job he gets using his status to show he’d LEARNED from what happened on the ship, I want Swansea and daisuke to have an actual proud gruff dad and ecstatic son moment, I want Anya to feel safe, I want Swansea to reassure her and her and daisuke to get up to funny things, I want curly to have done something to show them all he cares, he cares, he cares, and that he’ll protect them like a captain should.
But mostly I wish Jimmy fucking died before the rest of them lmao fuck that guy

The Umbrella Academy Story of The Mothers (6/6) sparrow edition: Elinor
TW: childbirth, mentions of vaginal tearing, mentions of blood, abusive birth mom
October 1, 1989. Swansea, Wales. 25 seconds before noon.
Elinor Bagworth was a 17 year old cheerleader at the now defunct Daniel James Community High School. She had been practicing her routine with the squad all morning long, her heart full of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming game. As the clock ticked down to 25 seconds before noon, she found herself standing in the center of the football field, her teammates surrounding her in a circle. They were about to perform their signature cheer, one that would surely bring the crowd to its feet.
The cheering squad was made up of five girls, each with their own unique style and personality. There was Daphne, the captain and the most experienced cheerleader; Melanie, the choreographer and the one with the best technique; Elinor, the one with the most spirit and the best smile; Kylie, the shyest and most introverted one; and finally, Jessica, the newest member of the squad and the one who had the most energy and the best tumbling skills.
As the clock hit zero, the girls broke formation and began their routine, shouting and jumping in perfect unison. Their bodies moved fluidly, their voices echoing across the field. They went through their stunts and tumbling passes with precision and grace. Even Jessica, who had been nervous about her first real cheerleading performance, seemed to have found her rhythm.
The crowd, which had been growing more and more excited as the game approached, cheered them on, clapping and whistling as they watched the girls show off their skills. Elinor couldn't help but feel a surge of pride and happiness wash over her. She loved being part of the squad, loved the sense of community and belonging it gave her.
As they finished their final tumbling pass, the crowd erupted into thunderous applause. Elinor felt a weight lift off her shoulders, a sense of accomplishment that was almost indescribable. She smiled broadly as she took a bow, waving to the fans who had come to support them.
Daphne, the team captain, walked up to Elinor and gave her a high five. "Nice job out there, Ellie. You really brought your A-game today." She nodded towards the stands, where Elinor's parents were waving proudly. "Your mom and dad must be so proud of you."
Elinor beamed with happiness. "Thanks, Daphne. I couldn't have done it without you and the rest of the squad. You guys were awesome." She glanced over at Jessica, who was still catching her breath. "And Jess, you did great for your first time. I'm so glad you joined us."
The other girls nodded in agreement, clapping Jessica on the back as they made their way off the field. They stopped briefly to stretch and cool down before heading back to the locker room to change out of their uniforms. As they were walking, they couldn't help but overhear the crowd still cheering for them, their voices echoing across the field.
Elinor felt a pang of sadness as they neared the locker room. Secondary school was almost over, and she knew that things would never be the same again. She would be going off to university, and she would have to leave her cheerleading days behind her. But for now, she was determined to enjoy every moment of it while she still could.
“Why didn’t Este come to the game today, Elinor? I haven't seen her in ages," Kylie asked, breaking the silence as they walked into the locker room. She sat down on the bench and began to untie her shoes.
Elinor sighed, the warmth from the game slowly fading away. "Oh, you know how it is. Este's been busy with her internship and studying for finals. Plus, she's not really into sports like the rest of us." She began to untie her shoelaces, her mind drifting back to her friend. "I wish she could've been here though. I miss her."
Daphne, who was sitting next to her, put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, Ellie. Este's just going through a phase. She'll come around eventually. In the meantime, we'll just have to make sure to keep you all entertained with our awesome cheerleading stunts." She winked, trying to lighten the mood.
Elinor smiled weakly in response. "Thanks, Daphne. I just wish she could've been here today."
As the girls began to change out of their cheerleading uniforms, Elinor felt a strange sensation come over her. Her stomach began to tighten, and she felt a sudden burst of warmth spread throughout her body. "Um, guys?" she stammered, clutching her midsection. "I don't feel so good."
Daphne looked up from tying her shoes. "You okay, Ellie?"
Elinor's hunched over as she noticed her midriff starting to rapidly expand. Her heart began to pound and she felt a sudden urge to push. The other girls in the locker room looked on in shock and horror as they realized what was happening. "You want me to get you a hot water bottle or something, Elinor?" Daphne asked, her voice trembling.
"No, it's not that... I think..." Elinor gasped as another contraction came over her, forcing her to double over in pain. She clutched at her midsection, feeling the sensation of what felt like a rock being forced from her body. "I think I'm having... I think I'm having a baby!"
Kylie and Daphne exchanged horrified looks, their faces draining of color. They exchanged a brief glance before Kylie spoke up, her voice trembling. "But... how? When did this happen?"
Elinor gritted her teeth as another contraction wracked her body, her muscles tensing and relaxing in a rhythm that seemed entirely out of her control. She felt the familiar burning sensation as her perineum stretched to its limit, and a sudden sharp pain as something ripped inside her. "I... I don't know," she managed to choke out between breaths. "I just felt... different... earlier today."
Daphne and Kylie exchanged glances again, their faces pale and terrified. Kylie swallowed hard before speaking up. "But... how can this be happening? We're in high school. You can't get pregnant just from having sex once, right?"
Jessica managed to set up a makeshift delivery area in the corner of the locker room using towels and blankets from their cheerleading equipment. The other girls looked on in horror and disbelief as Elinor's contractions grew closer together and more intense. Her screams of pain echoed off the tiled walls, making it clear that this was no ordinary stomach ache.
“Go get Headmaster Ambrose and the nurse, now! She's having a baby in here, for God's sake!" Daphne yelled, her voice cracking with fear. Kylie and Daphne took off at a run, sprinting down the hallways of the school, their heels clicking against the linoleum floors as they desperately searched for help.
Jessica, who had been standing close by, now found herself thrust into the role of birthing coach. She had seen it in the movies, of course, but never thought she'd actually be a part of something so raw and real. Elinor's screams were piercing, her body convulsing as wave after wave of pain coursed through her. Jessica did her best to comfort her friend, wiping the sweat from her forehead, rubbing her back, anything to try and ease the suffering.
"I can't... I can't... I just can't do this..." Elinor sobbed between contractions, her voice breaking. "It hurts so much..."
Elinor's words hung in the air as another contraction began, forcing her to double over. Jessica could see the perineum stretching, the skin turning an alarming shade of red. She braced herself, waiting for the inevitable tear. "You're doing great, Elinor," she lied, her voice steady. "You're almost there."
But it seemed to go on forever. As the pain intensified, Jessica could feel the hot wetness seeping through Elinor's clothes, pooling on the floor beneath her. She knew what it was, but she couldn't bring herself to say it out loud. Not yet. Not until the baby was born.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Elinor let out a primal scream and her body went rigid. Jessica watched in awe as something wet and squirming emerged from between her friend's legs. But that look of awe turned into horror as she realized it wasn't a baby. It was... something else. Something alien.
Elinor collapsed onto the makeshift bed of towels, gasping for air. Her body was covered in sweat, her hair a tangled mess. Jessica looked down at the squirming object in her hands, feeling a mixture of disbelief and fear.
"What is it? Is it a boy or a girl?" Jessica asked, her voice trembling as she looked down at the strange object in her hands. It was small, about the size of a softball, and covered in a slimy, translucent membrane. It felt heavy, and there were strange markings etched into its surface. But it definitely wasn't human.
"Well whatever it is, it’s not human," Daphne gasped, staring at the writhing mass in Jessica's hands. The creature that had emerged from Elinor seemed to be covered in a thick, slimy membrane that glistened in the dim light. Its surface was etched with strange markings and lines, like some sort of twisted code. It twisted and squirmed in their hands, as if struggling to free itself.
It was a metallic like the surface of a cold, ancient machine, and etched with strange markings that seemed to shift and move as the light caught them. Jessica looked at Elinor, who was panting heavily, her face twisted in pain. "Elinor?" she whispered, feeling a growing sense of dread in her stomach. "What is it? Is it supposed to be like this?"
Daphne shook her head, her eyes wide with fear. "I don't know. I've never seen anything like it. But it's... it's not human." She glanced around the room, as if searching for something, or someone to help them.
Elinor's horror-stricken expression mirrored Jessica's as they stared at the alien creature in disbelief. The thing twisted and writhed in their hands, its surface shimmering like liquid metal in the dim light. It felt cold and heavy, unlike anything either of them had ever experienced before. The strange markings that covered its surface seemed to shift and move with each passing second, as if it were alive and trying to communicate with them. But it wasn't human, and that terrified them both.
"Oh my God," Elinor gasped, her voice trembling. "I-I don't understand what happened. I thought it was supposed to be a baby..." She trailed off, her eyes filling with tears. "It's not... it's not supposed to be like this."
Jessica exchanged a look of horror with Daphne as they continued to stare at the strange creature in their hands. It seemed to be writhing even more violently now, its surface shimmering in the dim light. They couldn't help but feel as if they were holding something incredibly fragile, yet impossibly powerful at the same time.
"Get rid of it…" Elinor whispered, her voice barely audible above the creature's squirming. Her eyes were wide with fear, and she shook her head, as if trying to deny the reality of the situation. "Please, get rid of it. Bury it someplace... far away from here." Her words sent a chill down Jessica's spine. "On the fire with it," she added, her voice cracking.
Jessica looked at Daphne, who was pale as a ghost, her lips pressed into a tight line. They both knew what Elinor was asking them to do. But they couldn't bring themselves to harm the creature, no matter how repulsive it seemed. It was still alive, still struggling, and deep down, they felt a strange sense of connection to it.
Elinor's words echoed in Jessica's mind as they continued to stare at the alien thing in their hands. "Get rid of it... on the fire with it..." The thought of burning the creature sent a shiver down her spine, and she knew Daphne felt the same way. They couldn't do it. They couldn't just dispose of something so alive and helpless, no matter how strange or frightening it might be.
"Uhh guys," Kylie's voice cut through the tense silence. "There’s this old guy standing at the door. He's like, really old and he's got this really creepy smile. He keeps saying something about adopting the cube."
Elinor's eyes widened at the thought of someone wanting to adopt the creature. "Good, throw it in a box and give it to him!" she exclaimed, her voice surprisingly harsh. She turned to the old man, her expression hardening. "Here you go, sir. Take it away from here. It's yours." She roughly thrust the struggling creature at the old man, who smiled sinisterly and took it from them.
As the old man walked away with the strange creature, Jessica and Daphne exchanged a worried glance. They couldn't help but feel a sense of loss and guilt, as if they had just given away something precious. The old man disappeared into the night, and the three friends were left standing in the dim light of the alley.
The reason that I’m considering this a bittersweet ending instead of a full blown downer ending is because there is an element of hope in it. Reginald Hargreeves taking Christopher away means that he has a chance to find a new home, a new purpose, and possibly even a family that will love and care for him. However, the fact that Jessica and Daphne are left feeling a sense of loss and guilt shows that they did care for the creature in their own way, even if they didn't fully understand it. This leaves room for the reader to interpret the ending as bittersweet, with both sadness and happiness intertwined.

Thank you, Steve
Thank you, Steve.
Thanks for that night at Ashton Gate, thanks for the Play-off semi finals, thank you for Wembley and thank you for every home game last season.
Without you, those games, those scenarios would not have been possible, but you had this clever way of installing a belief, a unity, that ran throughout Nottingham Forest from the players to the fans. You gave us some of our happiest days and for that, Steve Cooper will forever be a legend in Nottingham.
It says a lot about the man Cooper is that he has relentlessly had his name chanted by Nottingham Forest fans when the team has been 4-0 down away to rivals Leicester, in dire straights away to Aston Villa having not won for two months and again this season despite being 5-0 to Fulham with the writing seemingly on the wall. His connection to the supporters was unbreaking and he earned every last cheer he got.
His time in charge of the Reds will go hand in hand with some of the best memories Forest fans will have ever experienced in their time supporting the club. For those who never got to experience the heady days of the Brian Clough era, this was the next best thing.
Here was a man who made it his mission to restore a bit of hope to the club, a club which in truth before he turned up, had lost that loving feeling.
Arriving on Trentside following our worst start to a Championship season with the club bottom of the table and the fans seemingly resigned to another year in the second tier at best. There was no real furore about his appointment - we knew what he had accomplished with Swansea, especially given it was his side that pipped Forest to the Play-offs a season prior, but there was largely little buzz given the fact that we had seen every single type of manager come through the doors in the past ten years, former club legends, unknown foreigners, experienced Championship pros who know how to get promoted, we had seen them all. Cooper was expected to be the next to try his hand and fail.
Something was different this time around, however. Maybe it wasn't the most obvious pairing but what happened next will go down in folklore.
Firstly, there was the matter of restoring pride in the side, giving the ability for supporters to get behind a team they believed in and could be excited about.
My first week as a university student in London coincided with Cooper’s appointment as Forest boss. Studying at a sports university, when I met my flatmates for the first time, the topic of who we supported was an obvious one. You can imagine the obvious answers I got from these people therefore, when replied with Forest.
“Rough start to the season for you guys.”
“Why do you support them then?”
Five out of the seven in the flat supported teams from the ‘big six’, and so, every weekend, it would be one of their games on the TV in the kitchen with only passing comments from them asking how we got on that weekend.
I can't recall ever watching a Forest game together as a flat early on, not before Christmas at least and even then, it was only our FA Cup games against Arsenal and Liverpool that they ever paid any real attention to.
What I associate my first year of university with most, however, is the journey we went on.
We got better and better each week (minus a few odd blips) and I remember getting to the point where I felt able enough to brag to my other flatmates about how well we were doing. By the time we made the Play-Offs, I sat them down, all weary eyed after our plane had only just got back from Italy and I made them watch the Sheffield Utd game. I wanted them to experience what Steve Cooper had given me and so many others that season.
My flatmates may not have cared, they still don’t, but for the first time, it gave me something to be proud about.
I had got to love and support Forest through my dad, a fan since the 70s who had developed into one of the most cynical supporters I knew. At the first sight of issues, he lost belief - this must have come from seeing the struggles we had been in since the turn of the century - a misery we’d shared since 2010.
I think this was symptomatic of most Forest fans throughout this period. They would fool themselves into believing this could be the year, yet after several poor results in games we could have won, as well as the inevitable Christmas collapse (a yearly event), all that goodwill and hope would be gone. January would arrive, a new manager would be in place and the rest of the campaign would be about making sure we didn't embarrass ourselves.
Steve Cooper did what none of the recent previous managers did, he changed how my dad and so many others viewed the club.
There may have been a few bumps in the road, however, we never lost faith in what this brilliant, clever man had created - a team and a club with a positive, forward-thinking mentality.
He changed our track record in the league, something that appeared to be an impossible task for so many before him.
I remember the first time I properly believed we would get promoted, Blackburn away at Ewood Park in February 2022. Blackburn were above us in the league, challenging for automatic promotion, however, I felt as though we were a much better side. Normally therefore, facing teams I felt we should beat would normally result in the exact opposite occurring, however, Forest put in a composed performance to win 2-0, leaving me with little doubt that we were in the hunt.
Cooper made the team believe, he made the city of Nottingham believe. He also made sure we didn’t kid ourselves. We deserved to be there in his eyes, but he would never let us get ahead of ourselves, that part was key. Celebrating what we were achieving under his guidance therefore, felt necessary. The fistpumps, Forza Garibaldi and Depeche Mode - all of these things seemingly were now part of the fortnightly sensation at the City Ground with Cooper as the ringmaster.
When we reached the promised land of the Premier League, following 23 years desperate to return, things were naturally harder as they always are for a promoted side. Not every game will be a victory, there will be moments when you contemplate whether we’re good enough, however, it’s important that you keep believing, keep the faith in the team and with Steve Cooper at the helm, it always felt like the captain of the ship had it under control.
Let’s not kid ourselves, last season could have been very different. After signing nigh on 30 players, we had an entirely new team, players we’d have to grow to love, especially after losing the bulk of our promotion-winning side in the same window. At certain points in the season, fans would find themselves comparing the two sides, often feeling our Championship side would have done better, however, by the end, after we grinded out survival, the fans grew to love that group because they cared about the club - something I am in no doubt Steve Cooper drilled into them.
Cooper got this club, he understood what being in the Premier League meant to the fans. His time charge allowed us to dream, have those dreams become a reality and then dream even higher.
His place in Forest history will forever be cemented, with younger fans today likely to hark back to the 21/22 and 22/23 seasons in the years to come. For them, these are the glory years. They might not be quite the same as the success under Brian Clough, but they do now have a hero of their own, the man who galvanised their club in a job many thought to be impossible.
So thank you, Steve, forever leader of the Garibaldi.

Mouthwashing family headcanons!!! because im mentally insane about them:
Daisuke: was an only child, his parents had him later in life and he's a rainbow baby. They love him deeply, but are worried about him not doing anything in life. He wants them to be proud of him so he's trying, but he'd really rather not be at this internship. He finds out his Mom got him it after an argument, she drops it on him and tells him he has to do it. He hates that he left home with that being their last conversation, as he refused to talk to her until he left as protest. Months later he's gotten over it and recognizes what she was doing for him. His father is kind of the buffer between him and his Mom during this, as well as in general since Daisuke's mother is the one who scolds him the most.
Anya: had a little sister, their parents were pretty emotionally distant, serious people who were both in business. They were busy a lot of the time which meant Anya took care of her little sister most of the time. She lives in an apartment with a roommate and their two cats when on earth, though her roommate is used to her being gone most of the time so she only has Anya pay half rent. She still talks to her little sister when home, the two of them meeting up and getting coffee when shes off work, but she's cut off her parents almost completely.
Swansea: had two brothers, both younger. His father was a hardened guy and wasn't around much, so Swansea took care of his little brothers and helped out his mom best he could. He gets married to his wife after meeting her at an AA meeting, they have three kids, two daughters and a son, their oldest the son and daughter (twins) and their youngest being their daughter. They have a family dog and two cats (his youngest daughter begged for them, Swansea hates the idea at first but warmed up to it) All three are grown by the time he's on the Tulpar for the last time, he's surprisingly an attentive and quite loving father, though he's a bit emotionally stunted. His youngest daughter comes out to him as a lesbian and admits to being afraid of his reaction, and that's the only time he's ever cried in front of her. He loves his family but is very bad at expressing it, as he's not well mentally.
Curly: middle child of three with a younger sister and older brother. His dad left when he was around six, and so his mom raised him and his siblings on her own. He was a fairly quiet kid compared to his siblings, his brother and sister were more high maintenance, with his brother having rebellious mental problems and had constant arguments with their mom, and his little sister was constantly ill as a little kid. He was the kid his mom could 'rely on' and be assured he was fine, he was considered the 'easy kid' though he really wasn't fine. He still calls his mother and visits his siblings all the time, his brother having gotten married and had a daughter, and his sister having a good job. His niece adores him because he always lets her do makeup on him at Christmas.
Jumbotron: an only child with an abusive alcoholic father, and a mother who wasn't very attentive. Though his father was abusive he idolized him a lot as a child and hated his mom more, thinking his father beating her was deserved, and when it happened to him he also deserved it. He took a lot of the rhetoric his father passed down onto him to heart, shitty things like how women should stay in their place. I'd say he's the definition of the abused become the abuser. He would stay at Curly's house as a kid to avoid home, and was kinda considered an honorary member of their family. He also visits for Christmas along with Curly, though he'd gotten the impression Curly's sister hates him. (She can see his manipulative behavior from a 100 miles away, and is pretty protective over her brother, also is uncomfortable around him.) His mother and father are both dead by the time he has the job with Pony Express.

All the odd numbers for Colin Hughes
*rubs hands* ok ok ok let’s do this!
1) Something this character is truly proud of.
Just making it out of Swansea onto the Cardiff football team (and later, Richmond). Colin grew up as an unacademic teenager in the shadow of his high-achieving big brother in a pretty poor part of Wales and so he’s so pleased that he’s made something impressive out of himself and can provide for his family – overcompensating with the brash attitude and the flash car and everything being just a little bit Loud, just so he can show he’s arrived.
Later on, his priorities change. He’d probably now say the progress he made with Doctor Sharon, or repairing his friendship with Nate and Sam after being such a dick in the early days. (I don’t think Sam ever held a grudge per say – but after Jamie left, Colin and Isaac apologised to Sam for going along with Jamie’s bullying quite so much, which Sam really appreciated.)
3) Who depends on them.
His mum, given how much Colin wants to support her since making it to the Premier League. Also everyone thinks Isaac is the caregiver and protector in Colin and Isaac’s friendship, but as we saw in Rainbow, Isaac can get in his own head a bit too much – a lot of Colin’s levity and larking about is deliberately done to distract Isaac, and Isaac really appreciates it.
5) A cherished personal belonging.
A Welsh rugby jersey signed by every member of the 2019 Welsh team. Personally Colin prefers football – but as a Welshman, rugby is fucking sacred. (Even if every time he tries to play he gets flattened by his cousins.)
Also, of course, the Lamborghini. He talks to it a concerning amount, and only Isaac is allowed to sit on the bonnet. Anyone else gets a stern talking to if they so much as touch it.
7) This character’s favorite character.
Gandalf from Lord of the Rings. Considering Colin could be said to bear a passing resemblance to Pippin Took – lively, humorous, a little bit daft – maybe that’s no surprise? Also everyone from the Night Watch series in Discworld.
9) What calms them when they are upset.
Cuddles. Colin gets more physically affectionate the more anxious he gets, so the team learns that whenever he starts to get upset that one of them has to go on hugging duty until he’s settled. Dani volunteers quite a lot; Isaac does it without even needing to be asked.
11) This character’s favorite piece or pieces of clothing.
Have you seen his collection of polo shirts? (Actually, Colin will genuinely make an effort when he’s trying to impress someone or it’s a special occasion – not a pair of trainers or a polo shirt in sight – and so his favourite item of clothing is actually a really nice suit that he never wears because it’s Special.)
13) What kind of parent they would be.
I headcanon that Colin’s dad is a very emotionally distant father – not abusive like James Tartt Sr or Mr Shelley, but someone who came from a very deprived area of Wales and thus is focussed on academia and achievement and being respectable - and so doesn’t think much of Colin’s lifestyle or try very much to bond with him emotionally. So I think Colin would try very much to make up for it by really making an effort to chat with his kids and make sure they feel safe to talk to him no matter what. Very physically affectionate and into bad jokes and dorky dad dancing. His kids have installed a lifetime ban on him driving them to school after that one time he leant out the window and yelled ‘I LOVE YOU, DON’T FORGET ME’ in front of all their friends.
15) What cologne or perfume they would use
I know so little about colognes! Something nice and simple and a bit woodsy?
17) What they’d sing at karaoke
I’ve said time and again that Colin, Dani, Isaac, Jamie and Sam sing ‘I Want It That Way’ by the Backstreet Boys on karaoke nights, and quite frankly if season 3 doesn’t give us that we’ll be robbed.
…not to play too much into national stereotypes, but canonically as a Welshman Colin has a good singing voice. I don’t make the rules. He’d either refuse to sing on his own in front of the team or deliberately act up more goofy to avoid the scrutiny, but a few of his close friends on the team have probably heard him sing old Welsh hymns from his childhood once or twice while doing the dishes.
19) When they feel safest
Definitely amongst the team.
21) Their fondest childhood memory
Playing with his sisters and cousins on the beach in Tenby during the school holidays and going for ice cream afterwards.
23) What kind of alcohol they drink
Shots of various kinds, probably the more expensive, the better. Though, again, that’s more of a status thing than particular preference: he’d honestly be happy with a cheap beer or cider.
25) What other people wish they could change about them
A lot of his friends wish Colin could learn to be a bit less deflective with humour during serious moments: sometimes he’ll avoid a difficult conversation by making a joke, or else push a joke just a little too far without thinking about how it’ll land with the other person. (*cough*Nate*cough*) He genuinely doesn’t mean it, and would probably be horrified if he knew he was hurting anyone else, but sometimes he can be a little bit careless with people’s feelings.
(Send me a character and a number and I’ll tell you my headcanons for:)

On Monday my mother finally snapped, dumped her shitty boyfriend and adopted a new dog. It was epic. She literally texted the ex and was like "I've put your stuff on the patio, drop your key through the letterbox k thanx" and drove to Swansea to visit her Potential Dog. He texted "Perhaps you should rethink and use this time to talk to me" and she replied "No thank you". I've never been so proud.
(Before a whole bunch of wellactualies turn up to whinge, by the way: he's been increasingly abusive, constantly demeaning and belittling her and trying to control what she eats/wears/displays on her walls, and by that last one, I specifically mean he made her take down the photos of my late father because "You loved him more than you love me". Which, you know, yes, obviously, because my dad was wonderful and beloved by all while you, mate, are a bagful of anuses painstakingly handcrafted out of turds. I was actually campaigning for her to throw his stuff onto the patio from an upstairs window to do the thing properly, but she's got a roof over the patio and didn't fancy having his shit on the verandah, so Opportunity Lost.)
So for the new dog, she checked some shelters for spaniels. We've always been big spaniel people - in particular, we've always had Brittany spaniels, although them's rare in the UK, so she was looking for a springer. And then, fuck me down, she finds a Brittany in a shelter in Llanelli! FATE. So my introduction to all of this was a phone call at 10.30am on Monday from her going "I've split up with Naz and I'm about to pick you up to meet our new dog, get thinking of new names."
We met the dog. I suggested River. She agreed. We aren't sure of his background, but certainly, he didn't recognise the name he came with, so it's fine. Super friendly to man and beast, but clearly doesn't know what a house is.
Anyway she brought him home today, and it turns out he'd also never known the delights of a squeaky toy. He's gorgeous, Tumblrs. I love him. He's such an idiot. He snapped at a passing fly earlier and fell over backwards. He's so great.
Here he is with his first squeaky toy (it died ten minutes later).

what's the beef 👀 (south england gal here, there's nothing interesting going on i need the low down on the north)
alright okay the beef is more specifically me than the north as a whole
my dad’s side of the family are all from a town called winsford which was expanded as a town in the 50s because liverpool was getting too crowded and so people from winsford are often called scouse rejects, mostly by scousers, and that kind of thing can ignite a strong dislike among northerners who tend to be quite proud of where they come from (even if where they are from became liverpool overspill). so as someone technically from winsford, i gotta be mad at constantine just for being from liverpool
my beef with matt comes from another rivalry i have no business taking part in but i enjoy the drama. i went to cardiff university which has a pretty intense rivalry with swansea university. there’s a huge sports competition between the two every year, it’s a whole thing. and by extension of that, students that live in cardiff and swansea tend to have a friendly rivalry and though i’m not from cardiff, i lived there and cannot stop myself joining in with rivalries so adopted the anti swansea fun. and matt ryan is from swansea so.

‘International Women’s Day’ tag game
I was tagged by the wonderful @beatitimreading
Name: I don’t like revealing my name online but most of the followers that I interact with like to call me ‘mama deer’ (because I call them fawns) or they like to call me ‘Ever’. Either is a good fit, I think
First name meaning: My first name means flower - Jasmine flower specifically (but my name isn’t Jasmine - that’s my cousin’s name)
Last name meaning: A quick internet search told me that my surname means ‘high’, ‘elevated’ or ‘champion’
Family: I come from a rather large extended family. My dad is the eldest of 6 and my mum is the second eldest of 8. All of my grandparents were born in what’s now known as Bangladesh - before independence was achieved - and my parents were born there as well. But my younger aunts and uncles on both sides were born in the UK - my dad’s side in England and my mum’s side in Wales. Now, the majority of my dad’s side still live in the same town they grew up in but my mum’s side are kind of scattered all around England and Wales.
Born and currently live in: I was born in a small market down in England, Bedfordshire but currently, because of Uni, I’m living in Swansea in Wales
Languages: Mainly English, spoken in an out of the home and Bengali, which I tend to use to communicate with my grandparents. And I guess, like most south asian kids who were forced to watch star plus with their mums, I can understand and speak some Hindi (I can understand it almost fluently and speak it well enough to get my point across). I’m hoping to learn some more languages eventually but definitely want to take up learning sign language
Hobbies: Literally almost every hobby that you’d expect an old lady to have; baking, knitting, sewing, embroidery, cooking. Also reading, writing (which is becoming less of a hobby) and lately I’ve been quite into travelling
All time favourite tv shows: I don’t think I really have any all time favourites of anything? Right now though, I’m really into Brooklyn 99
All time favourite movies: My favourite movies change almost all the time, depending on what mood I’ve been in. Lately I’ve been re watching old Disney movies so I’m going to say Lilo and Stitch and Pooh’s Heffalump movie
Guilty pleasure: Since it’s getting to be that time of year... every year me and my sister watch Eurovision and make like a big deal of it where we ply ourselves with foods and drinks and even turn our mobiles off if we have to
Dream job: Clinical psychologist
Something I’m proud of: Recently, the grades I’ve been getting. Especially the one I got for my dissertation
Something I’m not proud of: Lately I have this habit of thinking negatively right from the beginning. Maybe it’s because of the stress, but it’s something I want to change
Interesting fact about myself: I’m really not all that interesting ... I’m afraid of literally everything and I’ll try my best to hide it but will, undoubtedly fail
My outlook on life: Pretty realistic, I think. I’ve always been really logical and being the first born and all, I was raised to be very mature. Maybe a little too mature and logical for those that don’t know me but I’ve been told that once I’ve warmed up to people I seem like a completely different person
Plans for today: I was in the research lab until about 4 today, it’s my week to cook so I have to go grocery shopping, writing the second chapter of salvation and making more progress on my second draft of redemption and just spending some time with my sister - a very busy day  ~
TAG: I’m going to tag someone whose artwork I absolutely adore and someone who just seems like such a genuine person @blvnk-art
