The Key to a Successful Holiday Season: Holiday Promotional Needs
The holiday season is just around the corner, and for businesses, it's a time of great opportunity. Shoppers are on the lookout for gifts, festive treats, and special experiences. To make the most of this season, it's crucial to address your holiday promotional needs effectively.
Planning Ahead: The holiday season is not a time for last-minute decisions. Start planning your promotions well in advance. Consider what products or services you want to highlight and how you can make them stand out. This planning phase is vital to ensure a smooth execution.
Creative Marketing: To capture the holiday spirit, get creative with your marketing campaigns. Think about holiday-themed visuals, catchy slogans, and heartwarming stories that resonate with your audience. Your promotional materials should evoke a sense of celebration and joy.
Multi-Channel Approach: Don't limit your promotions to a single channel. Utilize various platforms such as social media, email marketing, your website, and even traditional advertising methods like flyers and banners. The more places your promotions are seen, the wider your reach.
Exclusive Offers: Everyone loves a good deal during the holidays. Offer exclusive discounts, bundle deals, or limited-time offers to entice customers. Highlight the savings they can enjoy by choosing your products or services.
Mobile Optimization: Many shoppers use their mobile devices for holiday shopping. Ensure that your website and marketing materials are mobile-friendly to provide a seamless experience for mobile users.
Customer Support: Be prepared for increased customer inquiries and orders during the holiday rush. Have a dedicated customer support team in place and ensure they are well-trained to handle the holiday workload effectively.
In conclusion, the holiday season can be a game-changer for businesses, but it requires careful planning and execution of your holiday promotional needs. By starting early, being creative, and engaging with your audience, you can make the most of this festive time and end the year on a high note. Happy holidays and happy promoting!

this is a random thought I had in the shower actually well over a month ago, but I've been gnawing at it in my brain...and perhaps this is going to sound pathetic and a bit esoteric.
So, it suddenly dawned on me very randomly while I was showering that I have been paying for netflix for my own account since I was a freshman in college. Back in the dvd days, I remember having Firefly sent to me disk by disk my fall semester. This is 2009. It was an important part of college because I let my friends use it on their console and we'd all go to their dorm and watch streaming, and I passed out my log in to a ton of friends. I basically provided free Netflix to more or less 10 or so people over the course of four years for not even $7 a month I think.
What hit me though was that means, this year - that will be 15 years. That's what stopped me in my shower to stare off in the abyss for like 10 minutes and what's been on my mind for the past several weeks. I've been paying netflix for 15 years, which is the longest I've ever done anything. There is no other company I've so consistently paid for like this either, not for that many of years not even close. Quite possibly my longest relationship outside of my family and 2-3 other people. Netflix, the ever constant, of all forsaken things.
And what really bothers me about it is that, uhm, not to be an American consumer but like...I don't feel appreciated by netflix. For the past few years, I've barely used it, except for a few titles I've wanted to watch. I haven't passed out my log in since I changed it not long after college to keep an ex using it for free. I've remained loyal, despite the fact that I don't feel like some sort of loyal consumerist. I don't give a fuck about brands, I try to shop as little as possible, thrift what I can. And yet, what can I say? I actually am a loyal consumerist, to netflix that is.
What a shock to realize this, and what a shock to realize netflix does not acknowledge this, no email saying thanks, no surveys, no swag, no pizza party, no invite no perk no discount no nothing. Instead they raise prices, cut services, lose licenses, and cancel barely finished products. I'm 15 years loyal to this company for this?
And I think about the days of yore, but really not long ago. The preferred shopper's catalogues of department stores, the longtime shopper promotions of industry giants, the award systems for the loyal consumerists of chains and malls. The specialty Christmas items that are today vintage and worth money for their rarity. The thank yous, the special events. The mailers that say "Come to our store loyal customer and receive a free $20 coupon for that day!" And I'm not saying this is good, and of course it's all just marketing and advertisement, and I'm not saying this is the life I want to live...
But I am saying this would be easy for netflix to do, for someone like me. Someone who went from $7 to stream and receive DVDs, who got customers onboard when the model was new and the company was pioneering, to $20 to sit unused but for a month or two out of the year. It would be easy to pull the data. It would be easy to say which accounts have been opened the longest, to actually verify who has given 180 months worth of payments to them. It would be easy to give me a year's discount to say thank you. It would be easy for them to send an email to verify my address to send me merch. Do I want the merch? No, not really. But have they tried?
Have they even sent me an email saying "We appreciate your 15 years of support! We value you!" with little confetti animation? They didn't do it at 10 years. They didn't do it at 5 years. I don't recall ever receiving emails from netflix besides "Unfortunately, our payment model is changing."
As of today, I haven't pulled my account yet. I want to finish Bridgerton, even if this season is a snoozefest. But I think I will. I feel had and used, as pathetic as that sounds. Has Hulu done anything different? I can't remember when I signed up for them but it's been many years. No, but I frankly use it more, so I'm less angry. And with netflix...it's been fifteen years. They have really banked on us being passive in our payments, and accustomed to the freedom of endless choice, and it just feels gleeful that they never even once acknowledged I've been here this whole time. Actually, act like Sears and Bloomingdales 60 years ago, or we quit I think we should say. Ask me my address to send me a glass netflix mug or I'll fuck off, because who do you think you are to think so little of me, the only reason you exist for?

A Year of Sanderson End-of-Year Wrap-Up
When Brandon Sanderson announced his kickstarter for a year-long subscription box, I was so excited! But it's been the biggest let down ever. It was really expensive, and we really didn't get much for our money. I feel so ripped off. And more than that, it doesn't feel like there was a lot of thought put into the items. It was just a way of making a lot of money fast.
At the beginning of the year, I made this post: Guesses, Wishes, Hopes, Dreams..., in which I detailed the kinds of things I was hoping for from this subscription.
Firstly, the books. I said that I wanted the books to work as a set, so that they looked good lined up together. They half managed this. The books were clearly designed together, they're similar in style. But they don't work as a set. For a start, there are two blue books right next to each other. The spine layout is different on the third book as well, which is annoying.
The other thing I wanted was premium book features. Artwork endpapers, ribbon bookmarks, fancy foiling, gilded edges, slipcases. I got almost none of these. The covers were foiled, and there were decorative endpapers, although only the last book had full artwork papers. The only book with sprayed edges was the last, which had plain black edges. The were no ribbon bookmarks, no slipcases, and nothing to set these apart from any other special edition you could buy in a bookstore.
As for the goodies, or as he termed it, "swag"? A total waste of money. This subscription was so, so expensive. Even before shipping, these were more expensive than any of the other boxes I subscribed to.
In other boxes, you get an exclusive book, plus four to five items. In this subscription, you got a book or the items each month, not both. So honestly? I was expecting at least seven or eight items in the "swag" boxes. We got three. And the quality was lacking.
Box 1: Hoid For this box, I had no specific wishes. The only request I had was that it be "imaginative". On that, they failed. We got a t-shirt, some post-it notes, and some stickers. Essentially, promotional business supplies.
Box 2: Cytoverse This was the only non-Cosmere box, so this was the box I was looking forward to most. I asked for a slug plushie, a special edition of Defending Elysium, and some DDF attire. What we actually got was a pack of playing cards, an ice cube tray, and a little model spaceship. The model was good quality, so was probably good for memorabilia collectors, but didn't interest me.
Box 3: Mistborn I wanted a Mistcloak, and a Soonie Pup (I specified "like the ones in the newspaper clippings" because they were so cute!). I got a Soonie Pup, it's true... but instead of a cute plush toy, it was like, an arcade grabber prize? Gross! We also got bookends and stickers. The bookends are really nice, and one of the few items I'll be keeping. The stickers were a bit rubbish.
Box 4: Sel I didn't have any particular wishes for this one, which is good, because I'd definitely have been let down - I couldn't have predicted these ones. There was a wax seal and rubber stamp kit, but they were super low quality, so I didn't keep them. And some... magnets...? For some reason? And some plasters, or "band-aids", as the Americans say.
Box 5: Cosmere I have no idea why they did a "Cosmere" box, when most of the other boxes were also based around the Cosmere. I thought this might include a map, and I said that I'd be disappointed with a poster. This was probably the best box. We got a wash bag, a luggage tag, and some postcards. I like all these items, but it still doesn't seem value for money.
Box 6: Warbreaker I wanted a Nightblood letter opener, and that is what I got! It's sadly boring in appearance, but it's very practical, and kind of elegant, I guess. There were also some glass coasters, which were hideous, and didn't seem to have anything to do with the theme. And some... breath mints. Yeah.
Box 7: Stormlight I love Stormlight, so I was looking forward to this box. I was hoping for a set of pens shaped like various Shardblades, and a set of glass gemstone Spheres with LEDs inside so they glowed when charged, like in the books, and an axehound plushie. We got a Shardblade keyring, but it is way too big to be practical. And a mini figurine, which I very specifically didn't want to get. The last item is an over-the-shoulder bag. It's a really quality item, and I want to love it, but it's just so... nerdy. I know, I know, it's fantasy... of course it's nerdy. But this is too much.
Box 8: Sanderson Fan After this subscription, I am no longer a Sanderson Fan. I was hoping for something "Reckoners" and something "Firstborn", and I was expecting a 2024 calendar. We didn't get any of those. We got a notebook and a pair of socks. I also was hoping for another book. We did kind of get another book - we got a short story. However, it's left a bitter taste in my mouth, as this book has already gone on general sale, for only $12, or free as an eBook! So why did I pay all that money for these boxes?? What a rip off!
There has, since the kickstarter, been loads of amazing merchandise released on Brandon Sanderson's shop, loads of which looks really good, and which I would love. Instead, we mostly just got cheap tat.
And to make it even worse. We were offered, as a "thank you" gift, a set of pins. This was like, their version of a stretch goal. But when the boxes started arriving, they tried to pass it off as part of the "cost" of the box, like it was one of the actual items. This was especially aggravating, as the pins were the ugliest things ever.
Overall, the only things I'm actually keeping from the "swag" boxes are the bookends, the wash bag, the postcards, and the book. I cannot emphasise how much of a waste of money this kickstarter was.

Baggy jeans: music shows 5-8
First of all, Baggy jeans has re-entered Melon chart after the end of promotion and continues to gather attention thanks to tiktoks and dance covers.
BgJ won on two music shows: Show Champion and Music Bank. The unit was absent, so no encore stages.
Because t7s unit needed to attend NCTNation concerts in Japan, the performances for the second week of promotion were pre-recorded.
All shows were live (with some sentences recorded in the backtrack, it's normal for a dance number). A big shift from the years of lipsyncing. Should I believe it was only LSM's vision? And the current management trusts the main vocals and the main rappers?
MCountdown: Performance Fullcam
For some reason striped long sleeves really suit Doyoung. Also realised this outfit "hides" his dancing. How to explain it. The outfit makes him more delicate looking, and more angly teenager-like, so his slower movements match the whole image. Hm, the body being fragmented (differenc colour blocks) also helps, possibly.
The stylist was playful the day the outfits were put together. The outfits are very unusual. Pastel and light, yet with attempt for swag.
Everything is so coordinated. Ten's olive shoes and Jaehyun's yellow-olive shirt. Tae's blue shirt and Do's belt. Jae's green baseball cap and Mark's T-shirt. Jae's belt with studs and Mark's undershirt pattern matches with the plaid of TaeDoTen. Jaehyun's one red pin to follow everyone else having red clothes items. Perfecto.
I think the soundwave suits the outfits the best. You can tell the LED screens and the outfits were matched for the performances. The visual effects guy was given instructions.
Music Bank: Performance, Fullcam
Letters on the floor help otherwise stripped down performance. An additional dimension. Like how the images on LED screens have real fabric texture. Good idea to make it macro. It pops. The clothes are of muted colours, the background is more bright and detailed, so they balance each other out.
Music Bank puts more energy into its additional YT content, releasing mash-ups and sound remastered videos. Their "choreography" (fullcam) videos have a good angle.
Music Core: Performance, Fullcam
Oh, a nice hat on Taeyong. Sparkly is good for the stage. Sparkly catches the eye.
The floor is too dark. Neos black clothes blend with the floor. It was better for the live audience, still, not good.
Only JaeDo have white trousers? Coincidence or..? I like the clothes, pretty, but I'm not convinced with the choice of black and white for this concept. Imo, it shouldn't be "clean" and "classy". I long for some pop of colour. Maybe if chains were of outrageous purple or orange colour, I'd like it better.
Inkigayo: Performance, Fullcam
I had to notice Do's orange platform shoes to realise why the outfits were so familiar. Not another music show, the performance MV.
Nice stage. Spacious. They made a full circle, starting with clothes from normal MV and finishing with clothes from Performance MV.

Super Secret Supply Drop with *gasp* A NEW SEASONAL SCENT.
Yeah, Duke Cannon snuck in a brand new seasonal in this one, which is actually kinda cool. I was skeptical as to how it would smell, but it's easily one of my favorites and for sure gonna be used come game day...when hopefully my drinking will not be because the Falcons are failing in the 4th quarter after playing a solid 3.
WTF is in it:
Aluminum-Free Deodorant (Naval Diplomacy) - They've recently "re-imagined," I guess, this product line. I'm still using the old version with no issue so we'll see about this; it's gotten mixed reviews. It smells nice enough, at least.
THICK Body Wash (Naval Diplomacy) - Duh wtf else would I use in the shower to motivate myself before doing hoodrat SATCOM shit in 5th Fleet? This is a re-stock for me.
Bay Rum Solid Cologne - Another re-stock item, but it's fine because this scent is amazing. It reminds bae of liberty ports in the South Pacific where he got up to no good, but respectably, because he's an officer after all.
✨TROPHY GAME SOAP BRICK✨ - This didn't actually get revealed until earlier this week, after my order had been processed and shipped, so I truly didn't know what this was called or how it smelled. It just...SMELLS LIKE FALL AND FOOTBALL. 'MERICA!
Shampoo Puck (Barrel Char) - A fitting match for the soap brick and a new scent for me
News Anchor Forming Cream (travel size) - IDK how this is gonna work...I've never used this type of hair product and tbh I don't have a lot of hair to begin with. I NEED TO SPEAK TO MY HAIRDRESSER (@betweenfrocksandbooks)!
Swag - A promotional pennant which tbh I'd like to put up in the bathroom but lol I can't, given the fancy nature of the material used for the walls in my flat. #BougieInBahrain

Polo (Ralph Lauren)
Perfumery, like all other art forms, is subjective. What makes an individual prefer one fragrance over another is largely a matter of personal association. If a scent reminds us of things or people we cherish, if it pushes our unique "happy" buttons, we like it. And if it doesn't, we don't. Nothing personal. It is what it is.
Less common -- but just as powerful -- are fragrances that tap into our bad, sad, or angry frames of reference. In such cases, prejudice overrides all attempts at objective logic. We know that a scent is just a scent. It's ephemeral; it can't hurt us. We grasp the concept behind it, appreciate the creative skill that brought it into being, and agree that the end result is a success.
And still, we hate it-- and nothing is going to change our minds.
I first encountered Ralph Lauren's Polo in 1982, the Christmas before my fourteenth birthday. At the annual family gift swap - held, for once, at our cramped suburban home - my uncle (an executive with Ralph Lauren Corporation) handed out identical canvas-and-leather gym bags stuffed with Polo promotional swag: perfume sample cards, lotions, soap-and-shampoo sets, bath towels, zippered makeup cases. We could never afford these items ourselves, and our uncle knew it. His real gift to us was this vicarious glimpse of the high life, a taste of luxuries beyond our grasp.
To working-class us, my uncle and his family inhabited Mount Olympus-- a stratosphere high above our messy, mundane world. Way up there, grownups knotted pastel cashmere sweaters over their shoulders and drank chilled white wine year-round. Their clean-cut junior-preppie offspring dropped references to "lessons"-- ballet, voice, flute, French horn. We envied and idolized and found it next to impossible to relax around them.
That year, my cousins responded to our generic mall-bought gifts with polite, detached thank-you's. Then came the Polo gym bags, handed around with indulgent smiles. They stood back and watched us coolly as we erupted with excited delight. Here was something we could flaunt in front of our peers, tangible proof that we were better than they thought we were (or than WE thought we were-- a subtle but important distinction).
But by day’s end we still reeked from head to toe—not with Polo, but poverty.
Four decades have passed. I've rarely seen my cousins since, except in photographs. Time and reality have leached away everything about them that seemed divine to me. And as for what they think of me-- well, I just don't give a damn.
But Polo? Can't stand the stuff. Call it transference, if you will. But disillusionment, like despair, like fear, has a scent. For me, that scent is Polo.
Don't get me wrong. The objective portion of my brain thinks that Polo is a fine work of perfumery-- crisp, enlivening, reminiscent of the deep woods on a late spring morning. If it had been honest and unpretentious, if it had not put on airs, I might have even grown to like it.
But no. I loathe it. It steals the forest primeval and plants it in the center of a gated country club that will never admit me as a member. It brings back to me all that was elitist, excessive, and nauseating about the Reagan Era. It holds all the missteps, disappointments, and embarrassing moments of my awkward childhood. It makes me feel bad about myself, for no very good reason. As a result, I will always, always hold it at arm's length.
To paraphrase Eleanor Roosevelt, no person can make me feel inferior without my consent. Why should a perfume be any different?
Scent Elements: Pine, chamomile, artemisia, basil, thyme, cumin, coriander, patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, leather, tobacco

I think a lot of people have their joy receptors programmed weirdly. I notice it when they seemed surprised that you can be happy without the excess they find necessary, almost jealous. I think we've got to put a sexy little spin on shit [I know we already are.] Maybe in more of a "come join the run party full of fun hotties" where the dress code is up-cycled loincloth.
Me thinks me thinks me thinks. I've had the best success selling dreams of cheap quirky lives rather than telling someone their response to the weight of the world is wrong. I think it's wrong certainly, but selling the correct answer as sexy and fun and silly seems to me a better way to go about things. [Not sure the top down model we have will ever come to put in place the necessary changes.]
Showing people the world doesn't need to be about the plastic and product cycles, the marketing and AI. That we've long had what we need as humans. Bla bla bla.
That our current economy is built on jobs that serve our collective good remarkably little, and that helping people can and should be celebrated and funded.
Be the life of the party as a broke bitch. Look better than them in your thrifted clothes. Put on that wicked shit eating grin that says "I'm not quite sure what's going on in life, but I'm going to have a good fucking time." [You might not feel this way, but the people who need talking to rarely want a sullen breakdown of their flaws. I've tried it, generally against pure grade shitheads.]
But yeah. We don't get invited to those parties too often do we? Huh. Maybe changing the media ecosystem. Huh. Maybe constructing a good vibes world saving pipeline of swag education that all the sexy people like.
Promoting hobbies that help, or don't destroy as much? Maybe the kind of loving materialism where you cherish the items, because of your history with them, or the history that they had?
This is called spitballing.
I don't know shit.
Sooner or later leftists will have to deal with the issue that capitalism has made many people used to wanton excess and sooner or later we'll have to legit tell everyone we can't have plastic treats and luxury produce or cruises instantly available year round and it's gonna make so many people mad and call you a big meanie worse than stalin over it. It will not be popular at all but someone's gotta hold a firm no or the planet will never stop collapsing. We can't save the planet by living exactly how we do now just with a communist banner over it we have to take a loss sorry, shein product cycles shouldn't have been normalized to begin with.

What Are Promotional Materials and Why Are They Important for Marketing?
Promotional materials are a cornerstone of any marketing strategy. They encompass a broad range of tangible and digital assets that are designed to communicate a brand's message, promote products or services, and engage with customers. From branded merchandise like t-shirts and mugs to brochures, digital ads, and online content, promotional materials play a critical role in capturing attention, creating interest, and driving conversions.
In this article, we’ll explore what promotional materials are, the different types available, and why they are essential for effective marketing.
What Are Promotional Materials?
Promotional materials refer to any items or assets used to promote a business, product, or service. These materials can be physical or digital and are typically designed to raise awareness, generate leads, or retain customers. They often bear the company’s branding, such as logos, slogans, or colors, ensuring consistency in the overall marketing message.
Promotional materials serve two main purposes:
Brand Awareness – By getting your brand name out into the world, promotional items keep your business top of mind.
Customer Engagement – They encourage potential customers to interact with your brand, either through offers, engagement with content, or direct purchases.
Common Types of Promotional Materials
Promotional materials come in various forms, and businesses choose based on their target audience, industry, and marketing goals. Below are some of the most commonly used types of promotional materials:
1. Printed Promotional Materials
Printed materials are traditional but remain effective. They include:
Business Cards: Simple but effective for leaving a lasting impression.
Brochures and Flyers: These materials provide potential customers with detailed information about your products or services.
Posters and Banners: Used for events or retail environments to grab attention.
Direct Mail: Targeted mail campaigns still have a high conversion rate, especially when coupled with personalized messaging.
2. Branded Merchandise
Promotional merchandise, often referred to as "swag," includes items such as:
T-shirts and Caps: Custom apparel helps spread your brand message.
Pens, Mugs, and Water Bottles: Items people use in everyday life ensure your brand is consistently visible.
USB Drives and Tech Accessories: These are popular in business-to-business (B2B) marketing, especially at conferences or expos.
3. Digital Promotional Materials
As marketing continues to shift toward the digital realm, online promotional materials have become essential. These include:
Digital Ads: Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, banner ads, and social media ads drive traffic to your website or landing pages.
Email Newsletters: A well-crafted email campaign keeps your audience informed and engaged.
Social Media Posts: Social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn are effective in driving engagement and building relationships with your audience.
eBooks and Whitepapers: Offering in-depth, valuable content in exchange for contact information helps generate leads in a cost-effective way.
4. Video Content
Videos are one of the most powerful forms of promotional materials today. Types of video content include:
Product Demos: Showcase how your products work in real-life settings.
Customer Testimonials: These provide social proof and build trust.
Explainer Videos: Short, animated videos that explain complex concepts or products are highly shareable.
5. Coupons and Discounts
Offering special promotions through coupons, vouchers, or discount codes is a tried-and-true marketing tactic. These are great for attracting price-conscious customers and can be distributed via both print and digital channels.
6. Promotional Giveaways
Running contests or giveaways where participants can win prizes is a great way to engage your audience. Giveaways are often combined with branded merchandise for maximum effect.
Why Are Promotional Materials Important for Marketing?
Now that we understand what promotional materials are, let’s explore why they are vital to a successful marketing strategy:
1. Boosts Brand Awareness
One of the main reasons to use promotional materials is to increase brand awareness. Whether it’s a branded pen or a digital banner ad, these materials put your business in front of potential customers. Over time, these materials help your brand become more recognizable and memorable. The more often your brand is seen, the more likely consumers will think of you when they need your product or service.
2. Enhances Customer Engagement
Promotional materials that provide value—such as informative brochures, useful merchandise, or engaging videos—create a connection between the customer and the brand. When customers feel that a company is offering them something of value, they’re more likely to engage with the brand, trust its products or services, and eventually make a purchase.
3. Supports Lead Generation and Sales
Promotional materials can be highly effective tools for generating leads. For example, offering free eBooks or whitepapers in exchange for contact information can help businesses build their email lists, which can then be nurtured with additional marketing content. Additionally, physical materials like direct mail can drive traffic to your business or website, leading to increased sales.
4. Cost-Effective Marketing
Many types of promotional materials, especially digital ones, can be relatively inexpensive to produce. For example, email newsletters or social media ads can be created and distributed at a low cost, making them accessible to businesses of all sizes. Even physical promotional items like pens or t-shirts, when ordered in bulk, offer a high return on investment because of their long-lasting impact.
5. Builds Brand Loyalty
Promotional materials can help build strong customer loyalty. Offering exclusive items or discounts to your existing customers helps them feel valued and appreciated. Repeat customers who receive branded merchandise are also more likely to become brand advocates, spreading the word about your products or services through word-of-mouth marketing.
6. Differentiates Your Brand
In a crowded marketplace, it’s essential to stand out. High-quality promotional materials, such as well-designed brochures or creative digital ads, can help your business differentiate itself from the competition. For instance, a custom USB drive or an engaging explainer video can showcase your brand’s creativity and attention to detail, leaving a lasting impression on potential customers.
7. Drives Immediate Action
Promotional materials, especially those offering time-sensitive discounts or calls to action, encourage customers to act quickly. This sense of urgency can drive sales, sign-ups, or engagement in a short amount of time.
Conclusion
Promotional materials are an essential aspect of any successful marketing strategy. Whether it’s a simple business card, a digital ad, or a branded t-shirt, these materials help build brand awareness, engage customers, generate leads, and drive sales. With a well-thought-out approach, businesses of all sizes can leverage promotional materials to enhance their marketing efforts and achieve lasting success.
