When six women and I sailed from Jacksonville to West Palm to George Town, without a lot of sightseeing stops along the way people asked, "Why?" "Why the rush?" "Why the route (bypassing the Berrys, Nassau, Eleuthera and most of the Exumas)? • Well, THIS is why! All of the teen boats are here! Plus, great younger kid boats for Samuel. And, because of the Bahamas' strict Covid protocols, everyone is Covid free, allowing the kids to see real faces again! • Today s/v Dawn Treader's teens (Ahava, 16 & Ziva, 14) organized a beach cleanup on Stocking Island. It was a huge success. Not only did they help the environment but they had a lot of fun, too. This girl, our second born, our "Z!" She is so incredibly, unapologetically her own, authentic, unique self. * Here on the s/v Dawn Treader, Ziva is the Second Engineer and Assistant Mechanic. During our time living on this boat she has installed, maintained and/or helped troubleshoot the watermaker, generator, engines and solar power systems. She has a magnificent mind and an amazing spirit. She keeps us all on our toes and frequently challenges me to become a better Mom and human. * I marvel every day that I am blessed enough to call her, "daughter." Riviera Beach Marina. It was our home for about 7 months when we first moved onto the s/v Dawn Treader in 2016. Since we were passing through the area, Ziva, Samuel, Nala and I decided to stop by. When you dream BIG, lead with love and believe in yourself amazing things can happen! Honestly, this photo makes me want to cry! Happy tears, of course! • 10 fabulous females (if you count Nala... and who wouldn't?) gathered on the deck of the Dawn Treader on our epic adventure of self-discovery. • It began with my realization that it was time for me to step up and take the helm after a decade as First Mate. This is no small thing for me. With my amazing husband, Nathan's support, and our teen daughters, Ahava and Ziva joining us, six fabulous women and I are sailing the Dawn Treader from Jacksonville, Florida to West Palm Beach and then on to George Town, Exuma, Bahamas. ⛵ • This is the first time I have ever moved this boat (or any boat!) with NO MALES on board. Talk about stepping squarely out of my comfort zone and into joyful learning and growth! • We are now halfway through this trip, doing final preps in West Palm Beach before a planned launch to the Bahamas tonight at midnight. 🇧🇸 • Nervous and excited about leaving the US 🇺🇸 and crossing the gulf stream, but I know we are ready!
