WOO guess who spent the last week galumphing around Iceland, enjoying pretty scenery and eating gas station hot dogs? Meeeee!

What a beautifully dramatic landscape, no wonder it inspired the landscape of Death Stranding. You bet I wore my Bridges cap the whole time lol. There’s waterfalls everywhere and I think my favourites ended up being Svartifoss (top still pic) and Kvernufoss (first tall oriented pic).

The New Yorker's Johanna Fateman writes:

"Had Anni Albers, the Bauhaus textile great, and Louisa Matthíasdóttir, the Icelandic-American poet of painted landscapes, joined forces, they might have produced something like Jónsson’s quietly majestic new series, “Fossar/Waterfalls.” The dyed-silk “Svartifoss” is a postcard-worthy vista—a turquoise column of water bisects a craggy pink cliff, graced by a skinny rainbow—if a postcard were fifteen feet high. Jónsson, who divides her time between Reykjavík and Cleveland, gives her abstracted landscapes a radiant heft with her hybrid process: she hand-paints the compositions on loose warp threads before they are wound onto the loom. Her shapes solidify as she weaves, but their feathered edges retain a diaphanous appearance—cloth masquerading as water." (De Nagy; Through Nov. 25.)

tovasuhantunk a Skaftafell gleccser felé, ahol amúgy valamiért én a gleccserségen átsuhantam, mert inkább a Svartifoss vízesés volt bejelölve látnivalóként. aztán ott (vagyis már itt közben, mert elég messziről látszik a gleccser) szembesültünk ezzel a gleccser dologgal, és mivel @mar-lenka még nem látott közelről (meg sehogy) gleccsert, kisétáltunk oda a látogatóközponttól. menő gleccser! a gleccserek jók!

a Svartifosshoz mondjuk nem jutott idő (majd legközelebb!), mert ilyen vagy-vagy volt a Múlagljúfur kanyonnal, és inkább azt néztem volna meg. és itt amúgy is leszakadt az ég, megint esett, szóval tovább mentünk.

a kanyon út ugyan nem F-es, de nagyon szar hepehupás földút, a felénél visszafordultunk inkább, mielőtt a kis camper szétesik alattunk... hát, ez is majd legközelebb, ok a visszatérésre...

így haladtunk a köv pontra, a Fjallsárlónhoz jegeket nézni (4. kép), majd a diamond beachre (5. képtől). na itt meg kurvanagy szél volt, de ilyen lábról ledöntős, ami egy idő után persze átment vízszintesen eső esőbe. nade mit sem von le az értékéből, mert csodálatos volt!! és láttunk fókákat is!!!! 🤩🦭
