WOO guess who spent the last week galumphing around Iceland, enjoying pretty scenery and eating gas station hot dogs? Meeeee!

What a beautifully dramatic landscape, no wonder it inspired the landscape of Death Stranding. You bet I wore my Bridges cap the whole time lol. There’s waterfalls everywhere and I think my favourites ended up being Svartifoss (top still pic) and Kvernufoss (first tall oriented pic).

The New Yorker's Johanna Fateman writes:

"Had Anni Albers, the Bauhaus textile great, and Louisa Matthíasdóttir, the Icelandic-American poet of painted landscapes, joined forces, they might have produced something like Jónsson’s quietly majestic new series, “Fossar/Waterfalls.” The dyed-silk “Svartifoss” is a postcard-worthy vista—a turquoise column of water bisects a craggy pink cliff, graced by a skinny rainbow—if a postcard were fifteen feet high. Jónsson, who divides her time between Reykjavík and Cleveland, gives her abstracted landscapes a radiant heft with her hybrid process: she hand-paints the compositions on loose warp threads before they are wound onto the loom. Her shapes solidify as she weaves, but their feathered edges retain a diaphanous appearance—cloth masquerading as water." (De Nagy; Through Nov. 25.)
