Do you ever think about how in the aftermath of Multi21 Sebastian told Mark that he didn't respect him as a person? For nearly five years Mark bore Red Bull's institutional yoke, because at least at the end of that short leash there was someone holding it. At least when he did the collar of his overalls up Mark knew where he belonged.

But then Mark gets in the way of Seb's ambition and in a single sentence, which has since been enshrined in Seb's indomitable legacy as a marker of rebellion and the will of a champion, Seb denies Mark his personhood.

They were no longer equals. Not in titles, not in the team, and not as people.

And do you think about how after Mark retired Sebastian started going out of his way to mention the tremendous respect he has for Mark? It was his crutch word for describing the enormity of what Mark meant to him. It was a show of goodwill to the media that had picked their headline articles from the carrion of Seb and Mark's relationship.

And it was an apology.

Sebastian may have been unable to rewrite history, but he wasn't going to be doomed by it either. Not with Mark. So Mark was written back into Sebastian's legacy, this time as a respected colleague, a fondly missed teammate, and a friend that to this day Sebastian is very good with.

AS I PROMISED @antihibikase I've only had a few handful of headcanons for the Kitakami siblings but they are half-filipino on their fathers side. Which we no nothing about other than he most likely had purple hair and yellow eyes. Speaking of, @salon-maiden-anabel (Who is also Barbara's new namesake and redesigned by) joked about how the Kitakami siblings just spawned in one day. ruby was very shocked to see you with dried patches of blood on your face and arms when she met up with team jnr. she remembered seeing you passed out on the ground bleeding profusely before she ran to try to save pyrrha and she recalled the heartache seeing that she couldn't stop to save you. before she woke up at home and had qrow tell her the events of the fall of beacon, she had assumed you'd died.

she stood frozen on the spot and you sheepishly rubbed the back of your neck. "surprise?" suddenly, a wave of petals came rushing towards you and you were enveloped by a warmth that you'd memorised mere months ago.

"i thought you died," ruby said, sniffling into your shoulder.

you smiled at her concern and returned her hug, "eh, it'll take a little more than that to kill me."

"you're never leaving me again," she proclaimed, peeling herself off of you and holding your hands. you glanced at team jnr, who shrugged and smiled.

"just say you love me," you answered, flicking her forehead. ruby chuckled through her tears.

"i don't have to if you already know."

hospitals were never a comforting place to be, but midoriya found it to be a familiar place regardless. except this time he never wanted to see you beside his bed. your eyes were closed but he could see your chest rise and fall from beneath the thin sheets. a wall of tears covered his eyes and he took a shaky breath to try to calm himself.

"i wish you'd be more careful..." he murmured, slipping out of his bed to stand by you. "i worry about you when you throw yourself into danger."

"as if you're one to talk," you responded, frowning at him.

"y-you were awake?"

"yeah, the lights are too bright."

midoriya hummed at your reason, moving to turn the lights off before returning to you and pulling up a chair. he leaned his head on his hand and looked at you thoughtfully.

"is that better?"

you smiled and nodded. "much." the green-haired boy sighed in relief, gripping your hand in his. "why are you so concerned about me anyway? i'm not the only one in hospital."

he blushed and hid his face in your hospital bed. "because i like you..."

"what was that?"

"you heard me the first time!" he whined, burying himself deeper into the sheets (if that was even possible).

"i wanna hear it again."

"it's embarrassing," he said, pouting. you chuckled, running your hand through his hair.

"but i like you too."

"YOU DO?"

mabosstiff lay in your lap as you helped feed another herba mystica sandwich to him and arven's eyes softened. you'd been with him since his best friend was injured and here you are now, helping him heal mabosstiff. arven didn't realise how much he appreciated you until recently, but for fear of losing another best friend, he suppressed his feelings.

"when he gets better he'll ditch me for you!" he exclaimed, plopping down beside you to give his pokemon attention. "don't leave me, mabosstiff!"

"he would never leave you," you responded, giving his hair a ruffle and earning a protest from arven. "if anything, he'll get all healed up and you guys will run away into the sunset without me." arven frowned at the idea that you would be left behind, particularly by them, and he wondered if you knew how important you were to him.

"who do you take us for?" he asked, deeply insulted that you ever thought they would leave you.

shrugging, you looked away from arven. "i dunno, things will be different after he's all healed, won't it?"

the boy sat up and gripped your shoulders, an uncharacteristically serious expression on his face. "i'm literally in love with you, how dare you think you're not important enough in this friendship."

you blinked cluelessly before smiling shyly. "you're in love with me...?"

now it was arven's turn to blink. "i shouldn't have said that." before you thought for too long, you leaned forward and pressed a short kiss to his forehead, gently pushing his hair out of his face.

"maybe i should have said it-"

ohhh I am Brainstorming

ok ok so infodump ahead: Arcelia is the daughter of Archie (aaaand possibly Maxie? I haven’t figured out if I want hardenshipping to be divorced or if they get together after ORAS) and grew up a member of Team Aqua. For a while there she had full confidence in her father’s plan, but then Something happens (haven’t figured out what yet) and realizes oh wait this idea is shit actually what the fuck dad. unsure of what to really do to stop her dad yet, she runs away and ends up in Littleroot. there she stumbles into Professor Birch getting chased by a wild poochyena, saves him, etc. etc. etc.

not really sure what to do with this lost child who literally just came out of the bushes and saved him one day, Birch takes her in and lets her be an assistant like Brendan is. buuut she’s not super good at it. she gets kind of fed up and restless, especially when her dad is still out there planning to FLOOD THE FUCKIN WORLD, so as a way to try and help her Birch gives her Pebble the Mudkip and sends her out on a journey. thus begins her gym challenge and her mission to save her father from himself basically.

post-ORAS Archie has to serve time and stuff so Arcelia… doesn’t really know where to go from here. and she doesn’t wanna stay in Hoenn honestly cause she’s still kinda recovering from saving the world and fighting her own dad. SO Birch tries to help and sends her to Naranja Academy in Paldea, where hopefully she can find some semblance of a normal life and learn to just be a regular kid. it’s all well meaning but it doesn’t exactly work out bc Arcelia ends up being all by herself. again.

aaaand of course that’s where she meets a certain future-ground-type-elite-4-member! Arcelia is 16 at this point but she has to start off at freshman cause of yknow, never going to school before, and Rika is 17 and a junior. Arcelia struggles because 1. this is an extremely drastic change to literally anything she’s ever had in her life before 2. sure she’s only like a year older than the rest of the kids in her grade but she’s still significantly more mentally mature than a majority of them and thus has trouble connecting with them. honestly, even if she was allowed to start off as a sophomore, that prolly wouldn’t change cause kid has literally seen shit beyond any other high schooler’s comprehension.

Rika, not knowing anything about the whole saving the world thing but can easily see Arcelia’s struggling, approaches her and offers to help her with fitting in, keeping her grades up, and stuff like that. and the rest is history! the two become extremely close, but I don’t think Arcelia would fully open up about being the hero of the Hoenn crisis just yet- she’ll vaguely mention her strained relationship with her dad and make it come off as something much more simple than “my dad was an evil team leader who tried to drown the world”, but during their school years Rika never totally understands the full weight of it.

I think once Rika graduates they have a dramatic falling out of some kind. haven’t exactly figured out the details of it yet but during this falling out Arcelia has to go back to Hoenn- probably somethin to do with her dad or with Kyogre or whatever- whatever it is she can’t tell Rika about it, which only frustrates Rika even more and creates a further rift between them. eventually Arcelia just leaves with hardly a goodbye and neither of them really get any closure.

-of course until Arcelia comes back to Paldea several years later :]

As Kanto, Hoenn, Sinnoh (not including Kitakami), Almia, and Johto all used to be part of a greater region called Ransei until the mid-1600s, they have a number of shared cultural and linguistic features. However, while Kannic is spoken in all of these regions today, the dialects vary significantly, as each territory was part of Ransei for a different length of time. Hoennese dialects are somewhat influenced by local Hoennese languages, as Hoenn was only part of Ransei for 150-odd years, as with Hisui (now split into Sinnoh and Almia) and Kitakami. Sinnoh, Kitakami, and Almia had a smattering of indigenous languages all descended from the same family - these were known as the Hisuin languages - and while Kannic is spoken in all three today, Hisuin-influenced Kannic can be difficult for Standard Kannic speakers to decipher. Outer Sinnohan and Almian dialects are very much mutually intelligible with each other, and mostly mutually intelligible with Standard Kannic - that is, a Standard Kannic speaker can usually understand conversation in Almian or outer Sinnohan Kannic, though may have some vocabulary gaps. However, while Outer Sinnohan, Central Sinnohan, and Almian are mutually intelligible, Standard Kannic speakers will usually struggle to understand Central Sinnohan. (Central Sinnohan is the name given to the various idiolects that coalesce into an approximate dialect around Mt. Coronet - it comprises various very different versions of the language, but is generally recognised as a distinct linguistic entity.) Autochthonous Kitakamian is its own language entirely, with some loose relation to old Hisuin. However, younger Kitakamians often study Standard Kannic in school - as such, Carmine could, theoretically, hold a conversation with a Johtonian, Sinnohan, or Kanton trainer just fine, whereas her grandfather would struggle more substantially in this regard.

Hoennese Kannic is mutually intelligible with Standard Kannic, but not so much with most Hisuin forms of Kannic, especially once one starts to a roach central Sinnoh. A resident of Mauville might be able to converse with someone from Jubilife, especially since modernisation and gentrification mean that the language in Jubilife would likely be somewhat closer to Standard Kannic, but conversation between someone from Mossdepp and someone from Hearthome would be impossible.

Johtonian and Kantonian forms of Kannic are very similar grammatically and linguistically, with excellent bilateral mutual intelligibility, but still distinct enough to have perceived accents and idiosyncrasies.
