Flash Thompson, First Aid Extraordinaire
Summary: Just barely managing to stumble through, Peter had all but a second before his knees buckled and he fell face-first into the rug beneath him. Breathing heavily, he could feel someone placing a hand on his shoulder, someone turning him over, but his eyes had already started to shut and he couldn't figure out who it was. / "Parker?" he heard, before he lost consciousness. "What the f—?" (Or, Peter tries to get help after being injured on patrol, and accidentally reveals his identity in the process.)
Words: 1.8k
Warnings: Heavy blood mention, fear of blood, mention of dying, improper first aid.
Notes: This is a collab between @goldenavenger02 (Susz) and I. We wanted to write a Flash redemption fic before NWH, so we did! Happy reading!

--
Peter knew that he had been walking for far too long.
School had gotten out early that day and, after finishing up some homework and decathlon practice, he'd decided to go on late-night patrol. But now, as he glanced down at the giant gun shot wound in his side, he realized he probably should have thought things through. Crime was always higher on school days than it was on the weekend (thanks to the criminals figuring out his time was limitless from Friday to Sunday), and by the time he had decided to go out, it had been nine at night-- well past dark.
Despite the dizziness getting to him, though, Peter kept walking. He could feel the wound bleeding steadily, the crimson red liquid seeping and squishing beneath his fingers, but he needed to get to MJ's. 'Her house is just a few blocks away,' he told himself. She would know what to do; and as soon as he stopped putting pressure on the wound, he knew it would be game over, so at least he would be safe and with someone who could help him.
After staggering along the sidewalk for a few more minutes, Peter cast a web over his injury, shook his hands clean of the still-fresh blood, and, for good measure, dried them on his thighs. Then, he started to climb. His vision was going in and out, and he needed to be fast, because if he passed out on the side of a building, then there was a good chance of him either getting seriously hurt, or of no one ever finding him, and he knew May would be happy with neither.
Finally making it to the fire escape, Peter took off his mask and blew out a breath of exhaustion. He was so tired... but he needed to open MJ's window. He was literally right outside.
'Open the window,' he told himself. 'Open it before you pass out right now.'
Or, now that he thought about it, maybe that was Karen talking to him. 'It would make more sense,' he thought to himself. But, either way, Peter listened to the voice in his head and willed all his strength into forcing the unlocked window open.
Just barely managing to stumble through, Peter had all but a second before his knees buckled and he fell face-first into the rug beneath him. Breathing heavily, he could feel someone placing a hand on his shoulder, someone turning him over, but his eyes had already started to shut and he couldn't figure out who it was.
"Parker?" he heard, before he lost consciousness. "What the f—?"
—
Flash Thompson was having a... decently good day.
After arriving to school a little bit earlier than usual (thanks to his father's brand new Lexus LS) for a study session, he had gotten an A on his Spanish exam and had even managed to answer a few questions in decathlon practice, despite Parker actually showing up for once; and, now, after all that had happened, he had gone home and was hiding out in his room, under his father's strict instructions not to "badger his way into their dinner party."
He had just wanted a chance to prove himself.
Nevertheless, though, Flash had listened to his father and did as he was told. Pulling open his laptop, he had created a Google Docs document and was about to get a head start on his Othello essay, when something thumped from behind him.
'God,' Flash thought to himself as he ran a hand through his raven ringlets. He was just about to get started on his homework, after being let down yet again, and the last thing he needed was a bird crashing into his window. It had already happened a few weeks, maybe a month ago, and it freaked him out when it did. He was not looking forward to cleaning it up again.
Closing his laptop for the time being, Flash rolled his swivel chair backwards and was fully prepared to go get the broom, when he turned around and his eyes widened to the size of saucers. Of all the things he could have seen, he did not expect to see Spider-Man, passed out on his bedroom floor, and bleeding out onto his burgundy Bakhtiar rug.
'What. The. Hell?' Flash thought to himself. A superhero was in his room! And not just any superhero, but the one he had been idolizing since forever! What was he supposed to do?
'Checking to see if he's conscious might be a good start,' his brain told him.
'Oh!' Flash realized. 'Right!'
Dropping what he was doing, Flash dashed over to the man (or boy? Flash didn't know how old he was, but it seemed right to guess he was in his twenties), and knelt beside him, not knowing where to touch, or even if he could touch him at all. He had no experience with blood, or injuries, or anything in the medical field, but if a superhero came to him for help, he'd gladly give it to them.
"Mr— Mr. Spider-Man?" he asked, amazed by his presence, but also uncomfortable with the amount of blood that was rushing onto his rug. Just looking at it made him sick and dizzy, but Flash steeled himself and reminded himself that he needed to focus on the matter at hand. "Are... Are you okay, sir?"
He didn't get an answer.
That was okay, though! Or, at least, that's what Flash told himself. Judging by the amount of blood the guy was losing, he shouldn't have really expected much of an answer anyway.
Trying to remember what he had learned back from their first aid unit in PE, Flash grabbed a pair of (clean) socks, so as not to get any blood on him, and slipped them on. Then, taking a deep breath, he reminded himself to focus!, before he laid a hand on the superhero's shoulder, and rolled him on to his back.
His eyes grew wide, and Flash held back a gasp.
'Of all the things that could've happened to me tonight…'
"Parker?" he exclaimed. "What the f—?"
—
Ned was not expecting a phone call from Peter at twelve in the morning on a Monday night. But, Ned was also nothing, if not a good friend, so he answered it anyway.
"Peter?" he asked, as he threw his comic book to the end of his bed. As a result, it bounced off the bed frame and fell to the floor, and Ned sighed at the fact that, if he actually wanted to finish it, that also meant he'd have to go and get it. "Dude, what are you doing up? It's too late to be…"
Expecting to be asked for notes from math class, Ned was partially surprised, but mostly concerned, when Flash's voice came over the phone. "Ned!" he said, frantic. "Listen, dude, I— I'm sorry for calling so late, okay? But this is an emergency, and I could really use your help if you'd be willing to give it!"
Ned sighed. “Flash,” he started, “if this is about Chemistry class, I already told you, I’m not giving you my notes—”
“No, no, this isn’t about notes!” Flash explained, and Ned couldn’t help but pick up on how worried he sounded. It was so weird hearing Flash so panicked, when the guy was usually so cool and collected. “I— I need help! Or, we— we need help!”
Before Ned could ask who “we” was, Flash continued. “You know Peter, right?” he asked, before realizing his mistake. “Parker? Oh, wait, of course you do, what am I—?”
“Flash,” Ned stressed, his anxiety increasing. As he balanced his phone between his ear and his shoulder, Ned started to look for his set of keys. Flash was never one to call him, not in a million years, unless it was a life or death situation and, if it was, he wanted to be prepared. “What’s going on?”
“Parker just tumbled through my window and collapsed, that’s what’s going on!” Flash shrieked, and Ned held the phone away from his ear, opting to click the speaker button and set it on his desk. “I— I don’t know how hurt he is, but he’s losing a lot of blood, Ned. Like, a lot. And I’m trying my best to— Oh, God.” Ned heard a groan. “It’s getting on my carpet!”
“Flash,” Ned stressed again. He had finally managed to find his keys and was now getting his shoes on as he spoke. “Calm down,” he coached, “okay? Deep breaths, Peter is going to be fine, and so is your rug.”
“But—”
“But you’re going to need to keep him from bleeding out until I can call someone and get there. If he loses too much blood, he’s going to go into shock. Do you have anything you can use with you? A towel, or a washcloth?”
“Yeah, yeah!” Ned heard another groan of disgust over the phone, and then some rustling. “Okay,” Flash replied. “Okay, I got, um, I got a towel, and some tape, but that’s all I have. We— We have a first aid kit downstairs, but I can’t go down there, my parents are having a dinner party, and my hands are covered in blood.”
“Okay— wait,” Ned questioned, confused, “your parents are having a dinner party at twelve in the morning?” ‘That’s way past dinner time,’ he thought to himself.
“Yeah!” Flash answered, holding back another disgusted grunt. He could see, could feel the blood soaking through the Turkish towel, and the cotton socks he was wearing, and it did not feel good. In fact, it felt awful and appalling, and Flash distantly wondered to himself if humans were even supposed to have that much blood in their body. “And it’s important, so I can’t exactly screw it up for them!”
“You’re not going to,” Ned said. “I’m going to call someone, and we’ll be there as fast as we can. Ten minutes at the earliest, and half an hour at the most. Can you keep him alive that long?”
‘I don’t have a choice,’ Flash thought to himself. ‘Do I?’
Instead of saying that out loud, though, the boy just nodded and applied more pressure to the gunshot wound on the superhero’s stomach. But, then, he remembered Ned couldn’t actually see him, and, after blowing some hair out of his face, gave him a verbal answer. “Yeah,” he agreed, though it seemed like he was talking to himself more than anything else. “Yeah, I— I got this, I can handle that.”
“Good,” Ned said. Grabbing his jacket off a hanger, he had then turned off his bedroom light and made his way outside. Flash’s house was only a good ten, twenty minute trip from his, but if Peter was bleeding out, Ned knew that he could go into shock, and he wanted to get there as quick as he could. “I’m going to be there as fast as I can, but just keep putting pressure on it. And Flash?”
“Yeah?”
“Breathe. If you wanna keep Peter breathing, then you have to be breathing, too."
‘Right,’ Flash thought to himself. That was probably a good idea...

So if you guys wanna suggest a drabble request (it's my 21st birthday and probably the last time I'll be able to do one of these until mid July) that'd be awesome. I'm in the mood to do MCU Spider-Man and Ninjago, but if you have a really cool idea for another fandom I write for (see list on my page, it's pinned) that's okay too.
No, it does not have to be birthday themed.

I'm going through a lot right now. Stuff I don't REALLY want to get into here on a public post. That being said, writing has always been my outlet so if you would like, drop a Ninjago prompt in my ask box. I can't do anything related to death/grief/dying/anxiety for fear of triggering myself but otherwise, go wild

This here is an ask bomb 💣!! What character have you written the most fic for? Has your characterization of them changed over the years, or stayed relatively the same?
So, I've been writing for nine years this August (posting for nine in December) so the character that I've written the most fic for, I haven't been in that fandom since early 2020.
However, since June 2021, I've been writing mainly Ninjago, so that's probably the most obvious place to go.
Considering 54 of my Ninjago and Dragons Rising fics (when I have 63 posted right now) have featured none other then Lloyd and the next highest character (Kai, if you're interested) has been featured 35 times, I think it's pretty obvious who I've written the most fic for.
I try to keep the same characterization of Lloyd as the show does. Yes, he's the green ninja. Yes, destiny has been out for him since the beginning. But he still has a heart of gold and loves being able to help people.
Now, depending on when in cannon I place a fic, that may change. After all, Rebooted Lloyd, who's cocky and fresh off of beating the Overlord isn't the same as Dragons Rising Lloyd, who is just trying his best to navigate a merged world and train the next generation of ninjas while having no idea where some of his friends are and if they're even still alive.
Now, have I gotten better at writing between June 2021 & February 2024? Absolutely. I'm human, I'm constantly improving and getting better.
But I like to think that I am staying as true to writing the character of Lloyd Garmadon as the writers have laid out his character on screen, even if both the writers and I have made some mistakes along the way.

still alive but I’m barely breathing
For @legogeek33
His father's monastery was quiet. While it had always been quieter then his uncle's, focusing more on peace then anything else, it was hauntingly silent now that the last of the students had been officially dismissed by his grieving mother.
His uncle making the decision to turn it into a tea shop in order to continue the legacy of peace wasn't a bad idea, but with that choice came renovation and having to get rid of the things that were no longer in use.
And for Lloyd, that meant coping with the feelings revolving that day in the Corridor of Elders and being unable to push them deep down into his subconscious where everything he hated eventually ended up.
His hands shook as he slid the door to the teaching area open, a slight layer of dust transferring to his hands as it slid on the hinges. The comforting smell of his father's green tea felt like a brick against his chest as the memory of being in this room just over six months ago, sitting on the floor next to his friends and his father's students.
"Tonight's lesson is The Art of the Silent Fist. To fight without fighting."
Even though he had been absolutely humiliated by his father that night, still on the high of stopping the Overlord and being hailed by everyone as The Golden Ninja. he couldn't help but look at it fondly now, craving the playful teasing from him.
"Misako said you might need help," Lloyd nearly lit the room up with green until he saw the owner of the voice come toward him, which was Samurai X herself, "the boys are discussing the renovations and I can only handle so much of their ridiculous ideas before I take over."
Despite her playful tone, just the voice in itself threatened to tear down Lloyd's fragile walls; he only had talked briefly to Cole that night and that had ended in words that he regretted and the last thing he wanted to do was lose anyone else. So he did what he had done at Darkley's and in those early days when the ninja wanted nothing to do with him.
Built up walls in order to keep his smile on the outside and his tears deep inside. But this was bigger then some school bullies and the walls weren't strong enough to handle a light gust of wind and the sobs emerged from his throat like a tsunami wave.
"Oh, Lloyd," Nya's voice was uncharacteristically soft as she wrapped her muscular arms around his shoulders which only made his sobs stronger, "I've got you. We've got you."
"I can't do this without him," Lloyd's voice trembled around the sobs, "I feel like a piece of me died with him."
If it had been anyone else, they would have said some meaningless words to try and assure him otherwise, but Nya just continued to hold him close, his face firmly pressed against her shoulder and one of her hands against the back of his head. He couldn't understand why for a few moments, until he did with a rush of remembrance.
'Zane.'

Hmmm drabble prompt?
How about kid Lloyd bonding with the Ultra dragon?
Sorry I let this sit so long, but this takes place pre Double Trouble
"Are you sure about this?" Lloyd couldn't keep his voice from trembling as he looked up at the large four-headed dragon, "cause Ultra is really big and-"
"You'll be fine, punk," Cole insisted as he finished adjusting the saddle before jumping down and putting his hand on Lloyd's shoulder, "I'll be there the whole time if you need me to take the reins."
"I don't know..." Lloyd trailed off as the dragon huffed at him.
"It's okay, Lloyd. I used to be scared of them too," Cole admitted as his hand reached up to gently scratch at one of the four noses, "but Rocky changed that for me and Ultra won't hurt you. After all, one day, he'll be all yours."
Lloyd looked down at his hands, obviously trying to avoid Cole's gaze.
"Hey, punk?" Cole asked, waiting until he saw the green and red eyes looking back up at him and held back his internal wince because 'he's so young and we're training him to fight his dad', "you trust me, right?"
He hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement and Cole couldn't help but smile as he crouched down so Lloyd could use his hands as a step to mount the dragon, "then lets go."
Cole made sure that Lloyd was fully seated before passing him the large reins that put him in charge of the dragon and only briefly having thoughts of adding some sort of makeshift seatbelt before he spoke.
"Now, you only need to flick the reins hard once in order to get him to fly. After that, no sudden movements, okay? Wisp has a tendency to swan dive and take the others with him."
"I've got it," Lloyd nodded, his knuckles turning white from the grip on the reins.
'We don't have time for slow training. Gotta throw the punk in the deep end.' Cole reminded himself before offering the youngest ninja a grin.
"Then let's see what you got!"
...
Cole could admit when he had said the wrong thing and telling a child to go headfirst into riding a dragon was definitely the wrong thing to say because they had to stop halfway back to Dareth's Dojo so he could throw up in a bush.
"I'm really sorry, Cole." Lloyd apologized when Cole emerged from getting sick, still sitting on the saddle.
"No, it was your first time," Cole spoke with a burp, his stomach still queasy from all of the unintentional swan dives and barrel rolls, "you'll get better at it, we all did."
"I'm guessing you wanna take the reins the rest of the way?"
"Oh, I am definitely taking the reins the rest of the way."
When Cole's stomach finally settled long enough that he could drive, however, he couldn't help but smile when he saw Lloyd's full grin as he gently scratched at Rocky's neck, muttering "good boy" under his breath.
'He's got this.'

I need to write, so I’ve complied some prompts. The usual fandoms are all allowed, although my preference is Ninjago
...
"I—I'm not going to tell you what you can and cannot do. But please. Don't go out like this."
"You won't get me sick. Well. You might, but I don't mind."
"You need to stay laying down, _, or we're going to have to hold you down. I know you're scared, but you'll hurt yourself if you move too much, so please just stay put."
"You wouldn't be in this bad of shape if you just knew when to quit."
"Stop yelling at me! It's not like I wanted to get hurt!"

band-aids don't fix bullet holes
"Yeah, I'm fine," he shot Kai what he hoped was a reassuring smile before cracking a joke, "we should help the police clean up if we ever want this place to be tourist friendly again."
Before he got a chance to talk, Lloyd already made his way to the commissioner so he could get an idea of where he was needed. 'Thank the master for adrenaline.
•••
Lloyd recognized the footsteps approaching as soon as they were within earshot, and despite the fact that he'd much rather be anywhere than here, standing outside of Borg tower with his back against the wall, he was grateful for the interruption from his swirling head of thoughts.
"How's Skylor?"
"She's gonna be okay, but Master Wu said that it's probably for the better if she stays with us while she recovers," Kai explained, leaning against the wall beside him, "Nya's gonna be okay too. Her shoulder is dislocated, but she's more upset about having to take it easy then anything else."
Lloyd couldn't hold back a chuckle at the mental image of Nya arguing with Kai about staying down, only because it was so normal for the two siblings to bicker; with everything that had happened, he wasn't sure they'd ever get back to normal.
"Everyone else okay?"
"Cole and I need stitches, and Jay has some level of a concussion, but yeah," Lloyd nodded and directed his attention to the night sky, "are you okay?"
Lloyd bit his lower lip, his eyes still fixated on the stars; he knew the correct answer was no, because who would be okay after watching their first...Rumi die when they could've stopped it, only to have to turn around and accept that what they just locked up in Kryptarium prison wasn't their resurrected father and had to use the technique they learned from him to defeat him, but at the same time...everyone around him was hurting too.
'Thank the master for adrenaline.'
•••
It wasn't that Kai wasn't thankful that Cole's father was letting them stay at his house while they started to restore the Monastery, it was the opposite actually; he was so relieved that all ten of them were able to be together again, albeit a little cramped, and that they were all getting towards okay.
But there was something that felt off to him; he didn't know if it was the creaking floorboards, the nearly consistent sound of someone turning over in their bed, or the occasional sound of Skylor taking a sharp intake of breath in her sleep.
All he could do was shut his eyes and try to get himself to drift off to sleep.
"Kai." A whisper broke through the soft continuous noise; he rolled over to get away from the voice trying to get his attention.
"Kaiii." The voice spoke more urgently this time, and he felt his heart drop. If Nya was anything, it was persistent and even though he had enough stubbornness to fight it off, she probably genuinely needed something.
"Kai, I need help."
That got him sitting up, rubbing his eyes so they could adjust and focus on his little sister, her arm tightly secured to his chest with her eyes full of both tears and worry; definitely not normal.
"What's wrong?" He asked, pulling himself away from Skylor and planting his feet on the creaking floorboards, trying to avoid waking his girlfriend when she obviously needed the sleep.
"It's Lloyd."
Kai narrowly avoided cussing to his sister about how 'Lloyd insisted he was fine' because he knew he should've pressed him harder about definitely not being fine after the hell they had all been through and settled with following Nya into the room where she had been sleeping instead, lighting his hand up so he could see.
Zane, PIXAL and Jay were still sleeping in their beds, and there was an obvious mess of blankets where Nya had been, but on the pull out couch was Lloyd, an arm draped around his torso as he looked straight up at the ceiling.
He barely heard his sisters soft, reassuring whispers as she ran a hand through Lloyd's hair as he approached, taking in what he could in the dark room.
He lit his hand just enough so he could get some light without waking the others, and once again had to bite his tongue to keep from swearing; no longer covered head to toe in the suit, Lloyd's loose fitting pajamas gave just a small idea of how many cuts, gashes and bruises aligned his body.
With how pained the young ninja's face was, he could only imagine what was under his shirt and the urge to go to Kryptarium and give Garmadon a piece of his mind was strong, but he turned to his sister, trying his best to keep his voice steady, "Go wake up Cole and ask if he knows where the first aid kit is. I'm gonna bring him into the room I'm staying in so I can turn on the light."
Nya nodded before standing up and leaving, giving Kai a chance to get down beside Lloyd, "hey, we're gonna move you to my room, okay? Just so I can see what I'm doing and help you feel better."
Lloyd stayed silent with no movement, still staring at the ceiling. 'Probably just the amount of pain he's in.' Kai tried to assure himself but that's when the choking voice broke through, and he kicked himself when he realized that what made Lloyd's face so reflective in the fire light was obviously tears.
"I want my mom."
'Of course he wants his mom. After how fucked up this entire experience has been, he obviously wants his mom.'
"Okay, I'll have Nya get her for you," Kai insisted, extinguishing his hand before reaching forward to gently brush the tears off of Lloyd's cheeks even though he knew that more would quickly take their place, "but we gotta move you first."
Lloyd pulled himself up, letting out an involuntary hiss through his teeth, before draping his arm over Kai's shoulders.
Kai made sure he had a decent hold on Lloyd before the two of them slowly made their way out of the room. Luckily, the house was small and before he knew it, the two of them made it back to the other room and Kai was able to slowly lower Lloyd onto Cole's bed before making eye contact with Nya.
"Can you go get Misako?"
"Yeah, I'm on it." Nya nodded, leaving the room just as Cole came in, first aid kit in hand as he turned on the overhead lights.
"Thanks," Kai muttered and opened it before turning to Lloyd, "do you want me to wait till your mom gets in here?"
Lloyd shook his head, slowly taking off his shirt before laying back down and grasping Cole's outstretched hand, "just get it over with, please."
He swallowed harshly as he finally got a good look at the amount of bruising that covered Lloyd's chest and ribs; Kai had patched himself and Nya up multiple times in their childhood, but this was something that one of them would've taken the other one to the hospital over because of how bad it was.
"Kai? Are you okay?" A voice asked, and he snapped back to the present.
Nya and Skylor both had their hands on his shoulders and he was now sitting at the table with a orange blanket wrapped around his shoulders that he had definitely seen Cole use before.
"What happened?" He asked, his voice coming out as a choke.
"Once you saw how bad Lloyd's wounds were, you went into shock," Nya spoke softly, gently squeezing his hand, "Misako, Master Wu and I came in just as Cole had woken Skylor up because you were frozen in place."
"Lloyd-"
"Zane and Master Wu are taking care of him," Skylor insisted as she gently rubbed his shoulder, "even though Zane insisted that you have some sort of concussion, hence the shock."
Kai nodded before resting his head against his arms, sleep already threatening to take over now that he was no longer having to be stoic for Lloyd and Nya.
"You should probably lay down on the couch if you're gonna fall asleep, Kai." His girlfriend's voice insisted before he was lifted from the table and walked over to the couch, the blanket being draped over him.
He wanted to stay awake, he really did...but he hardly had gotten any sleep in the First Realm for fear of something happening to his brothers, and now that he was on something soft, he couldn't stop it.
•••
Nya couldn't stop the tears coming down her face as soon as Kai's breathing evened out and indicated that he was sleeping.
Her shoulder throbbed whenever she moved it, her eyes were trying to shut without her trying to sleep, Kai was obviously in over his head since that was the first time she had seen him go still like that since he had nearly cut his eye open so many years ago in the blacksmith shop, and Lloyd…
She had sworn to protect him, she promised him that she would keep him safe and now he was hiding everything from her until he couldn't do it any more.
'I wonder what else he's hiding from me…'
"Nya, maybe you should get some sleep. You can see Lloyd tomorrow." Skylor suggested, but Nya shrugged her off, pulling her good arm out of her grasp.
"I can't sleep, my arm hurts too much." She insisted without looking back at Skylor, even though her arm was only part of the problem; Lloyd had woken her up, and she'd see to it that he was okay.
Luckily, that's when Master Wu and Zane exited the room with serious but relieved expressions on their faces.
'Thank the Master.' Nya thought to herself as she made eye contact with Zane, who gave her a quick but reassuring nod; if she hadn't already been crying, she definitely would have started.
"-need to get some sleep. We have all had a rough few weeks." Wu explained with a calm, steady tone, despite the fact he looked ready to fall asleep standing; he didn't even finish speaking before Zane went back to their room.
She didn't know if she would ever get used to how young her master looked, but from what Jay had told her just hours earlier, he would be back to his old self sooner rather than later.
"I don't think you're going to be able to move Kai from the couch."
"No, it is best to leave him there, he definitely needs the rest," Wu glanced over at her brother before returning eye contact with the two of them, "We should leave Lloyd in Cole's bed as well. I really want him to avoid moving until his injuries heal some."
The girls nodded and watched as Wu retreated to one of the three rooms, Skylor disappearing behind the door that held her and Lloyd shortly after, leaving Nya behind in the dark main room.
She walked over to the cabinet and dry swallowed two ibuprofen before walking over to her sleeping brother. She adjusted the blanket over his shoulders before walking into her room, seeing Cole in Lloyd's spot before getting back in bed, feeling Jay's warm arm around her.
"Everything okay?" He mumbled, clearly having just woken up, which struck her as weird since Jay was the lightest sleeper she knew.
"Yeah," she mumbled, curling closer to her boyfriend and the blankets he had pulled over himself in her absence, finally letting her eyes shut while speaking, "everything's okay."
Nya wished so desperately that she was telling him the truth, even if he wouldn't remember it in the morning.
•••
The next morning was chaotic to say the least; Cole's father had left before the rest had woken up to stock up on food but still hadn't returned.
The kitchen was a mess with Zane trying to make breakfast with the limited amount of food while everyone else was trying to get tea, coffee, water, painkillers, or all of the above.
But despite that, Nya couldn't wipe the smile off her face even when Jay accidentally collided with her bad arm followed by a rambling apology; because after the days and weeks had blurred together in a mix of grief and preparing, they were all together again.
She was brought out of her thoughts with Kai gently tapping on her good shoulder with two mugs in his hands, handing her the one containing the dark brown coffee that he had obviously just put a touch of sugar in. "Thanks." She smiled, seeing the tired grin on her brother's face as he sipped at his tea.
"You know, this couch is pretty comfy."
"It's supposed to fold out into a bed, you just crashed before you got the chance to experience it's full comfort," She joked, gently nudging him with her shoulder before the laugh died out in her throat, "how's Lloyd?"
"Skylor said he's still out, but Master Wu said he's probably just exhausted," Kai explained, taking another drink before continuing, "it's not every day you have to fight your dad, after all."
Nya nodded as she took another sip of her coffee; when the ultimate battle had happened, Lloyd had nearly slept for two days, only waking up to eat or use the restroom. Maybe it was the fact that they had spent weeks in hiding, but there was something different about this time, she just couldn't put a finger on it.
"You know, we can go check on him. We just have to avoid waking him up." Kai explained, swallowing the last of his tea.
She nodded, gulping down the rest of the coffee before standing, wincing at the pang in her shoulder which Kai obviously noticed since he added.
"Maybe we should get some more ibuprofen in you first."
Nya couldn't stop herself from pulling her older brother into a tight hug, never wanting to let go of him again. It had only been a few weeks, and usually she would protest against it, but it felt so nice not having to take care of herself and everyone else. "I missed you so much."
She felt Kai tuck his head against her good shoulder, squeezing extra tight, "I missed you too, Nya."
They broke the hug off and made their way to the room tucked away in the corner, the farthest from the chaos. 'Probably the best place for Lloyd to rest.'
Her brother reached forward and slowly opened the door, the two of them grimacing at the creaking before slowly making their way in, closing the door and the outside light out with it.
Nya gently wrapped her hand around Lloyd's, squeezing it just a hair before letting her head rest against the edge of the bed even though it involved putting pressure on her shoulder. 'I am not leaving him again.'
She waited for Kai to protest against the position of her arm, but when she looked back up at him, he was already asleep with his head against the edge of the mattress.
Nya smirked at the sight of her brother before letting her own eyes close. Finally, all of her family was together again. And if she had any say in it, that's how it was going to stay for a very long time.

when Peter met Kate
Speaking of Kate, despite the burns and broken bones, she immediately looked up with a smile when her gaze met his.
"Hey, S-Spider-Man," she stuttered before clearing her throat, "I'm Kate. Kate Bishop. Big fan."
•••
"Ow, ow, ow!" Peter winced, snapping his eyes shut as Bruce's hands examined his definitely dislocated right shoulder.
"I thought you were on house arrest, why were you in the suit?" Bruce's voice hit his ears, and he opened his eyes to see the face of the man who at this point, should just get a M.D and make it official.
"Well, Mr. Wilson and his friend Torres, they got me out of it till my trial, and my lawyer said it was okay for me to use the suit if I didn't do anything to smear my reputation any more, which isn't really fair, since this whole mess isn't my-" Peter got cut off from his rambling by another hiss of pain, this time from his probably broken nose.
"Fault?"
"Yeah, that," Peter blinked away the stars that had clouded up in his vision, "and I didn't do that, I just got into a fight with those bank robbers. They weren't happy to see me."
Bruce passed him an ice pack, "hold that on your shoulder. I'll be right back to set your nose and realign your shoulder, I've just gotta take care of someone else."
"You replaced me in the six months I was out of commission?" Peter gasped dramatically, putting his left hand on his chest, "I'm hurt, Dr. Banner. Emotionally and physically."
"You spent too much time around Tony," Bruce sighed before looking over at Peter, "with everyone recruiting teenagers left and right, you're not the only person I have to patch up with my lack of a doctorate."
"Wait, who else are you patching up?" Peter questioned, letting his curiosity get the better of him as the ice pack slid down from his shoulder.
"Hawkeye brought her in. Her name's Kate Bishop. She's a couple years older than you," Bruce explained before gesturing to the ice pack, "ice pack, shoulder. She's fully human as far as I know, so I'll fix you first, but I gotta make sure I don't need to call Helen for back-up."
Peter returned the ice pack to his right shoulder to appease Bruce, although it actually felt pretty good, before asking. "Can I meet her? After we're both...you know."
"If she's up for it, yes," Bruce nodded before getting up, "stay here. Let FRIDAY know if you need me."
Peter nodded, waiting until Bruce left to transfer the ice pack from his shoulder to his face and relaxing as soon as the cold touched it and started to numb the pain. "That's so much better." He mumbled to himself.

"Another burning building?! You jumped out of it?!"
"Look, I was just trying to help those people!"
"And now you've got enough injuries to rival Cooper after a baseball game! Which I was at until you jumped out of a burning building!"
"Can you just listen to me?!"
"I'm the adult, you're the kid! And this conversation is over!"
"I'm an adult too- oh, turning your hearing aid off, real mature." Kate sneered as the man reached up to his ear and flicked the device off as the doors opened to reveal Bruce Banner. As much as Kate wanted to fangirl, however, the definite broken knee and her anger towards Clint was keeping her from doing so, "he turned his hearing aid off to get out of a conversation."
Bruce nodded, signing something to Clint before turning to Kate, "you should learn ASL if you're gonna keep working with him. Helps you win arguments even if he wants to cut it off."
"We weren't arguing! He was getting pissed off at me for no good reason!" Kate defended herself as the man gently examined her left arm, making her wince.
"Burning building," Clint enunciated the words before adding, "I turned it back on so you couldn't say something that wasn't true."
Kate sighed, shaking her head which sent a searing pain to the burn on her forehead, before turning back to Bruce, "how bad is it?"
"You've definitely got a broken wrist, a broken knee and a second degree burn on your forehead. You're fully human, right?" She nodded in agreement, making the burn light up again, "Okay, depending on what the x-rays say, this is gonna take six to eight weeks to heal."
Kate groaned as she saw Clint smirk out of the corner of her eye, "just say it. I'm an idiot for jumping out of a burning building and you're gonna drill it into my head every day while I heal."
"There will be plenty of time to do that during your recovery time," Clint shrugged before holding out his hand for her to hold onto to, "besides, we've all done stupid things to save people. No one died, thanks to you."
Kate couldn't stop from smiling at the rare praise. Bruce fastened a splint to her arm, and she realized right then and there that it was the reason Clint had offered his hand. "Ow!"
"Okay, you're gonna get some x-rays, and I've gotta patch up another vigilante," Bruce rubbed his eyes before standing up, "but if you're up to it, he wants to meet you afterwards."
"If you let Spider-Man rub off on you, you're gonna kill me before I'm fifty, do you understand me?" Clint demanded, but Kate was more focused on the fact that she was in the same building as Spider-Man.
"I'm up for it! I'm one thousand percent up for it!" Kate nodded furiously, hearing Clint groan as she focused all of her attention on Bruce Banner.
"We've really gotta stop recruiting kids."
•••
"Alright, Peter," Bruce smiled as he tightened the sling, "you are good to go. Or to see Kate, who is very much interested in meeting you. Seemed like a big fan."
Peter nodded as he stood up, making a mental note not to do that in order to irritate his nose any more; at the same time, however, his stomach was fluttering. He had never met another superhero who was excited to meet him aside from Tony, and definitely not one who was around his age.
He followed Bruce to the room down the hall and into the room, watching as one of the other doctors on staff, whose last name was Rodriguez, finished bracing Kate's knee.
Speaking of Kate, despite the burns and broken bones, she immediately looked up with a smile when her gaze met his.
"Hey, S-Spider-Man," she stuttered before clearing her throat, "I'm Kate. Kate Bishop. Big fan."
"More like a big pain in my side." He heard Clint mumble under his breath, but ignored it in favor of offering his hand out to Kate.
"Peter Parker," Peter offered her a fistbump due to both of them having injuries to their arms before sitting down next to her, "so, you're like the new Hawkeye, right?"
"If she stops acting reckless and forcing me out of retirement."
"He's angry at me," Kate waved him off, "because I saved lives in the city."
"You jumped out of a burning building."
"You sound like Mr. Stark," Peter turned to Clint before turning back to Kate, "I've been doing this for a couple years now, I'm happy to give pointers that don't sound like an overbearing father."
"I'm totally down for that," Kate nodded before hissing as soon as Bruce Banner started to clean the burn on her forehead, "but, it'll have to be awhile. We're both kinda busted at the moment."
Peter couldn't stop himself from laughing, even though he knew that he would be healed in a matter of days while Kate was going to be injured for a lot longer.
"Later, then."
