Submitted: Priyanka Chopra Blind Items - Take with extreme grain of salt
[AHPF Note: I’m breaking this one up because it’s about Priyanka and this is not a Priyanka blog] [2nd note: Ugh, the break isn’t working for some reason, sorry]
This is related to blind-items concerning Priyanka Chopra, so please bare with this tangential story:
Recently, an on-the-rise bollywood actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, committed suicide during lockdown. His suicide has created massive fallout in the industry and has BLOWN the lid on the “bollywood mafia” and the levels of nasty PR games, casting couches, and blacklisting they do to those they consider outsiders in the industry. It’s literally the metoo movement of Bollywood and at that scale with a new celebrity, actor, singer who came from the “outside” is speaking out about their personal experiences with the rampant systematic dismantling of talent. In a nutshell, Bollywood is ruled by a handful of acting, producing, and directing families. They in turn only cast their kids or launch the careers of their friends’ kids while excluding any outside talent. It takes A LOT of talent to get into the industry and a lot of luck. It used to be that the only way to get in (if you weren’t born into a connected family) was to literally win a beauty pageant (hello, aishwarya rai and Priyanka chopra). The advent of the internet, YouTube and IG has democratized the way hopeful talent can pitch their work (modeling, singing, acting chops) and develop a fan base that they can leverage to get hired for mainstream projects.
This has only made the bollywood mafia tighten ranks and insulate themselves from outsiders. They’ve always had casting couches in place and blacklisting of talent but over the last 10-15 years, they have adopted dirty PR tactics to discredit new talent and make them unhireable. They have resorted to placing false and malicious blind items in Indian gossip columns (or with paid-for-hire journalists) to this end. In concert with these blind items, these families’ work behind the scenes to have outside talent replaced with their own children/friends and band together to boycott working with an outsider talent. They have destroyed the careers of many outside talent. Also, many of these “mafia” families (ie. the Kapoor’s) aren’t very bright - many of them drop out and haven’t finished school - which is a serious blight in as academically competitive an arena as India is for students. So if someone is talented and then smart and not easily manipulatable to boot is considered a super threat and systematically taken down.
It’s just come to light that Sushant Singh Rajput was the target of such a systematic take down campaign. He was an exceptionally bright guy (he ranked 7th of all students in India for an all India, standardized Engineering exam) and was winning critical acclaim for his movies before being collectively blacklisted and discredited with blind items.
So since all this came to light in the last few weeks, it has also been revealed that a Priyanka Chopra was also the victim of such a campaign, which is why she sought a career in Hollywood. It should be noted to those not familiar with her star status that she won the Miss World pageant in the 90s and was a STAR in India with a ton of films under her belt. There was literally no need for her to get on American TV. I always wondered why she was hustling for TV roles in Hollywood when she has the world at her fingertips (Bollywood is Massive everywhere). I remember hearing wierd and frankly uncharacteristic gossip that she was involved with a married man (a prominent Indian film actor) with whom she had a secret love child and that she was run out bollywood. In light of all the stuff coming out about outsiders having their careers blacklisted by the Bollywood mafia and the seedy PR tactics they engage in, I seriously side-eye these blind items about Priyanka Chopra being a yachter or having an affair with the Tom Cruise of Indian Cinema. I strongly think the blind items about her are placed by Bollywood folks who grew tired of her outspokenness in Bollywood and ability to self-advocate, and would consider them largely fabricated. As a I said, Priyanka Chopra was an outsider - she won the Miss World Pageant and that platform and subsequent sponsorship from international beauty brands was the clout she needed to break into Bollywood. Money speaks at that point and producers clamoured despite likely objections. Priyanka actually got really lucky because she kind of rode the tail end of the “Latina explosion” with the likes of Sofia Vergara and such becoming television staples. Priyanka filled that exotic beauty vibe that television was looking to leverage. Another actor who’s also been blacklisted and smeared with malicious gossip/blinds is Anupam Kher, who after a successful, decades long career in Bollywood as a prestigious character and supporting actor, he’s now having to hustle for tv roles in the US.
I don’t know about her and the Jonas Brother romance (my spidey sense tells me that it is a PR romance designed to keep her publicity up in Hollywood) but I do think the yachting rumours are a massive stretch. I know a lot of the blind items about Spacey, Epstein, Weinstein, Meghan and the BRF have been proven true. However I think we should seriously side eye the ones currently related to Priyanka Chopra and the yachting. It really doesn’t add up.
______________________________________________________________________
Thanks for sending this in. I’ve no doubt Priyanka was subject to a BW “blacklist” but I imagine that’s because of the affair with Khan and not due to any “outsider” status, as the Khan rumors date from the early 2000s.

https://liveindiatimes.com/fan-asks-irrfan-khans-son-babil-to-unfollow-star-kids-his-humble-response-will-win-your-heart-bollywood/
Tumblr media
The news of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has reignited the nepotism debate and angry fans are unfollowing star kids on social media. One such Instagram user urged late actor Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan to support the movement by unfollowing all star kids. However, his humble response is winning hearts.
Babil replied, “@yashbansal2937 brother, do you understand the pressures and expectations of being the son of someone who changed the concept of acting in Indian cinema? I understand your frustration against nepotism, but there are two sides to every coin.”
When the user remarked that ‘snatching films’ and giving them to star kids was ‘not right’ and that he was fighting for justice, Babil said, “@yashbansal2937 bhai toh meri yeh hi ummeed rahegi ki mein apni mehnat aur performance se aapka dil itna khush kar doon ki aapko yeh lage hi na ki mere journey mein koi unfairness hui hai (Brother, I hope that I impress you so much with my effort and performance that you do not feel that there has been any unfairness when it comes to my journey).”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Babil might just follow in Irrfan’s footsteps and pursue a career in the film industry. When an Instagram user asked if he is interested in acting, he replied, “@suvi3106 hopefully I will go where my wishes take me. Actor, musician, director, producer, and something to do with physics. These are my aspirations.”

Anurag Kashyap said that he offered Sushant Singh Rajput two films, but the actor was interested in working with bigger banners.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap opened up about late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and said that he chose to work with certain heavyweights of Bollywood as he wanted the ‘validation’. Anurag said that he offered Sushant two films but he decided to work with bigger banners instead. In an interview with NDTV, Anurag said, “Sushant was very successful. You make your career based on your choices, not on your talent. Aap kya choose karte ho, aap kiske saath kaam karte ho, woh aapka career banata hai (What you choose and who you choose to work with, makes your career). Sushant was super successful and made choices himself.” Anurag said that he had just finished casting for Gangs of Wasseypur when he met Sushant. “(Casting director) Mukesh Chhabra used to operate from my office. Sushant aaya, maine kaha, ‘Yaar, tu Bihar ka ladka hai. Mujhe pehle milta toh main tujhe film mein kaam de deta (When Sushant came to meet him, I said, ‘Oh, you are from Bihar. If I had met you earlier, I would have given you a role in the film).’” Anurag then recommended Sushant’s name to filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, who was specifically looking for a television star for Kai Po Che! Anurag said that he cast Sushant in his production Hasee Toh Phasee and approached Parineeti Chopra for the female lead. Sushant ended up talking to Yash Raj Films (YRF), who was handling Parineeti, and signed a three-film deal with them. “YRF called him and said, ‘We’ll give you a deal. You do Shuddh Desi Romance.’ Sushant, who used to sit in my office with Mukesh and all of us used to sit together, signed up with YRF and dropped Hasee Toh Phasee, a film of an outsider because usko validation YRF ka chahiye tha (he wanted validation from YRF). It’s with every actor, so I am not holding any grudges,” Anurag said. Hasee Toh Phasee was eventually made with Sidharth Malhotra, in place of Sushant. Anurag offered Sushant another film in 2016 but that did not work out either. “Years later, in 2016, before the release of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Mukesh went to Sushant and said, ‘Anurag has written a script looking for an actor who can play someone based out of Uttar Pradesh.’ Dhoni released, became a success and he never called me back. I was not upset, I moved on, I did Mukkabaaz,” the filmmaker said. Anurag said that when outsiders come into the film industry, they seek validation from certain big banners like YRF, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions or Sanjay Leela Bhansali. “That validation you are seeking, and one can’t blame you. It’s a choice you have made but you also have to deal with this. The boy was very talented but at that time, he chose Drive over a film that I was doing because he was dying to work with Dharma,” he said.Sushant died by suicide on June 14. It has been alleged that attempts were made to stall his career as he was an outsider who refused to become a sycophant. In a recent interview, Kangana Ranaut alleged that Aditya Chopra blacklisted Sushant after he chose to end the ‘evil’ contract with YRF. She claimed that Karan then stepped in to sabotage Sushant’s career by offering him Drive, which he later ‘dumped’. “Now, Aditya doesn’t work with him but his best friend, his childhood friend, Karan Johar comes into the picture. Very strategically, he hires him and shoots for this film for three years, and then he declares to the world that he is such a flop star, I can’t sell the film to exhibitors,” Kangana said, questioning why Karan could not find buyers for Drive, even after Sushant delivered a blockbuster like MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.

Maharashtra housing minister Jitendra Awhad has sought a detailed investigation into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. In a series of tweets, he responded to reports that nepotism and professional setbacks may have had a role to play in the actor’s death and said that the ‘cartel story is scary’.
Awhad took to Twitter to raise questions about whether Sushant was blacklisted by certain heavyweights of the film industry and said ‘no newcomer should go through such torture’. He added that he would meet Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh to discuss the case.
“In my personal capacity I think that a detailed enquiry should be done in #SushantSinghRajput suicide case. We have lost a upcoming talented actor who came from Patna to make place for himself in #Bollywood. The cartel story is scary and no newcomer should go thru such torture,” he wrote.
“I m personally meeting home minister @AnilDeshmukhNCP and demanding a enquiry and the truth should b in public domain. We’re his movies stopped ? We’re his movies banned? Was he forcibly removed from certain movies ? Many such questions are doing rounds and leading to suspicion,” he added in another tweet.

Deshmukh said in an earlier tweet that the Mumbai Police will investigate the ‘professional rivalry’ as there were allegations that Sushant was suffering from clinical depression due to work. The police has so far recorded the statements of more than 10 people in connection with the case, including the late actor’s family members, his rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and close friend Mukesh Chhabra.
Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai home on Sunday. The police said that it was a case of death by suicide, which was corroborated by the post-mortem report. His final rites were performed at the Pawan Hans crematorium on Monday in the presence of family members and a few members of the film industry. His ashes were immersed in the Ganga on Thursday.
