ok holy shit I am done with book 1. immediate thoughts here:

they didn't even gay it up for the movie. that's just. wow

LITERALLY just a story about agatha trying to be sophie's prince but being rejected so she tries to become a princess but then sophie does some fake prince-ing but THEN they just end up being each other's princes AND princesses. BEAUTIFUL.

also tbh the movie IS really close to the book? yes there are significant changes but I can see why all of them were made - they all make the story shorter, more streamlined, needing less narration, etc

with the extra changes being charlize theron's lady lesso (fabulous, and iirc the actress' very specific requests upon accepting the role)

and "rafal" getting way more screentime. which I personally adore because YES YES it IS a grooming narrative and you SHOULD say it
