Despite the Fact that Thailand already has one of the best Transportation Infrastructure System in South East Asia (SEA), they are not resting and are still intent on expanding it even more.
This after the Minister of their Transport Ministry, Suriya Jungrungreangkit announced recently that they intend to make more double-tracked Railways starting next Year of 2025 thru six Projects that will lay an additional 1,312 km of new Tracks that is worth Usd 8.7 billion.
Upon completion, these new Tracks will help Thailand become a Regional Hub between China and the rest of SEA. The six Projects are as follows:
Pak Nam Pho to Den Chai (281 km, Usd 2.4 billion)
Chira Junction to Ubon Ratchathani (308 km, Usd 1.3 billion)
Hat Yai to Padang Besar (45 km, Usd 230 million)
Chumphon to Surat Thani (168 km, Usd 890 million)
Surat Thani to Hat Yai-Songkhla (321 km, Usd 1.9 billion)
Den Chai to Chiang Mai (189 km, Usd 2 billion)
On top of this, Thailand is also set to start the second Phase of their High Speed Railway line that will run from Bangkok to Nong Khai which will be 357 km long and worth Usd 10 billion. So all in all, that is a total of Usd 19 billion worth of new Railway Tracks totalling 1,669 km that Thailand intends to start next Year of 2025.
So more Railway Infrastructure for Thailand as they march further into Progress. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, very little visibility in Terms of new Railway and Road Projects that are for implementation next Year.
In fact, the last time I checked, so many Expressway Projects were taken out by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) from the List of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) that are for Implementation. Just more “Ayuda” or “Handouts” for the “Legalized Vote Buying” by this current Administration in the coming Elections.
