BRO WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR DRAFTS LOL

Lol for those who didn't see on the last post:

So, basically I've been using my drafts as a really inefficient multipurpose repository for other people's posts that I don't want to lose, but don't necessarily want to like or rb right away.

For example, I try not to be that guy who only drops likes art posts on here, bc I know artists depend more on reblog traction. But I also have my own silly little catalogue tagging system that I am simply too lazy to do at times.

Solution? Save the RB as a draft so I can find it later (when I have the energy to type 5 measly words)! Thats part of why yall will sometimes see my little art blasts: 5-15 art post rbs in a row. I had a rare short bust of productivity, and curated a selection of tagged art posts in my drafts :]

Similar thing w articles. I try to make sure that I'm not doing the old "just read the incendiary headline and hit RB". Easy way to spread misinfo, or just not gain a very nuanced perspectve on a topic, yada yada.

Espescially true when I instinctively agree w the contensious political view being expressed & I am trying to avoid confirmation bias by doing additional research on counterarguements. It can be a slightly time consuming process.

So I very smartly think "I'll save this for later, when I have more time to read/fact-check it 🧐🤓" and much like my steam library and novel reading backlog, I proceed to not come back to it in 80% of cases.

Sometimes its also just a vibes thing w the dash. I'll see a very funny post, but it includes some dark joke about a car accident. I'll want to rb it and think "hold up.. i just saw a little vent post from a beloved mutual about them getting in to a serious fender bender this morning. Better hold off on this one for a bit"

& then in most cases i just don't go back thru to clear it out often enough 😔

Hi i was just wondering. Did you have any plans to make print versions of books 4 and 5 of Now Recharging?

I do hope to! But in complete honesty/disclosure I'm not sure when, or if that aspiration will change. It's mostly because, like every overthinking creator, I made things complicated for myself, haha.

The two main reasons are:

In an ideal scenario I'd like to print them with the same production as books 1-3 (gold foil stamped cover, full colour, high quality/good weight paper etc.), which is more expensive.

These past years with the pandemic and my family's health/risk concerns, it's extra hard to justify printing things because I haven't been able to do in-person events to sell at, and I don't have much space to store the books.

With regards to point 1, Books 1-3 do form a complete story arc and books 4 to 5 are sort of "expansion pack" separate story arcs, and I did a survey a while back where I got feedback that people generally don't seem to mind if the production is different as long as the designs match… so I may in the future manage my own expectations and change the production slightly if I do print.

1. Kuroko no Basuke

Jk, ofc knb has to be first! It's been almost 10 years since I got into it and it's just the gift that keeps on giving. It's one of my comfort shows and it's gotten me through a lot tbh. Special shoutout to Kise, my baby who will forever be one of my favorite characters in media, and Kasamatsu, who I love with my entire being. Kaijou deserves better!!

2. Pokemon

My original hyperfixation before I even knew what that was, LOL. Pokemon has been there for me for as long as I can remember, and I don't think anything will ever quite replicate the feeling of home I get from this franchise, whether it's the games or merch or the show. I will def be there when gen 5028373 comes out, still playing the newest Pokemon game on the newest console no matter how old I am.

3. Xenoblade Chronicles

A newer fandom but one I fell into HARD. XC3 actually altered my brain chemistry and is probably my favorite game ever. My journey through the Xenoblade trilogy was magical and I can't get over how well the characters and stories are written, on top of having pretty fun gameplay. I'm super excited to finally check out XCX in March too!

4. TMNT 2003

Another childhood fave and another comfort show. These boys genuinely feel like family to me, they're just so cozy. I'm honestly shocked how well the show holds up even today; the writing is too good! It's criminal how slept on this version of the turtles is compared to others and I will die on this hill.

5. Akatsuki no Yona

The other day I realized I've been reading this manga for ten years which really made me have a belated quarter life crisis LOL. I migrated over from the anime, but man, it's SO SAD that they haven't animated the arcs after bc I love Yona (and everyone else's) growth through the series. I'm really anticipating how the series ends! Last chapter ripped out my heart thx.

6. Love Live!

I haven't kept up with Love Live and I was introduced to it through LLSIF (RIP) but I still listen to so many of the Muse/Aqours songs to this day! Kotori is incredibly special to me in particular bc I relate to her and I'll always smile when I see her pop up. Also I sometimes use the cards for fashion inspo bc their fits are too cute!

7. Rurouni Kenshin

I haven't felt comfortable following new RuroKen stuff considering everything, and tbh I don't think I'll ever be able to even reread/rewatch it bc it's forever tainted in my mind. But I can't deny how big of an impact it (esp Sano) had on me in my early teens, so here it is!

8. Sengoku BASARA

Tbh I'm not really in the fandom anymore, but I met SO MANY of my mutuals who I'm still friends with today through it, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart <3 Those were some wild and fun times LMAO.

9. Ys

Still making my way through all the older Ys games, but Ys 8 will forever be a legendary game imo and it has one of my fave OSTs of all time. Ys 9 and esp Ys 10 were also awesome! I finished Ys 10 a couple weeks ago and I'm still having withdrawals lol.

10. EXO

Alright this one is kinda eh bc I never got super into fandom stuff, but it's been such a crazy ride watching them from debut to now! Jongin esp is one of my favorite humans on the planet and as cheesy as it is, his words helped me tackle some of my insecurities growing up. I'll always be an erigom and an EXO-L <3

Soul Eater - I 100% would not be the writer I am today without the Soul Eater fandom. Back in like 2013-2015 I was having the time of my life online because every day I was either writing for a prompt or reading a fic of a prompt I sent someone else. Everybody in that fandom was so supportive and sweet, I truly do miss those days because that community introduced me to how much FUN a fandom could be.

Yuri on Ice - There's truly nothing more fun than being a part of a fandom for an ORIGINAL anime, with no previously published source material. I just recently re-watched YOI with my sister and while it's obviously a stunning show on its own, I kept trying to describe to her the fandom experience after each episode dropped and I couldn't properly encapsulate how unhinged things were in a way that would make sense to her. Truly a you-hand-to-be-there kind of Moment, and I'm glad I was. Like, where were you when the last minute of episode 10 dropped? WHO were you, afterwards? Words cannot describe.

Link Click - Truly I don't know where you've been for the past year if you've somehow missed how insane I am (and everyone else is) about this show. I have been writing an essay in my head for the past WEEK that I really need to type out one of these day because the structure of season 2 is the most psychotic storytelling I've ever seen. And AGAIN, an original show with no source material!! This is fandom at its PEAK!! Especially since since, unlike YOI, this is show has MYSTERIES to be solved, mysteries that you actually CAN unravel if you watch the show closely enough. Nothing more delicious to a fandom than that. I'm going to be a maniac December 27th. This is your chance to unfollow me now.

The Raven Cycle - I'm not like, a booktok or bookstagram or booktube person because I unfortunately don't read as much as I'd like, but the aforementioned sister is, and I've asked her "I know a lot of these influencers are normally reading current books, but have any of them read TRC?" and the answer threw me off so much? Because she said yes, a few of the people she followed HAD read The Raven Boys, but maybe of them didn't finish it and thought it sucked!! Imagine!! Now when I started reading TRC I already had a lot stacked in its favor: I had read Shiver by Stief and loved it, so I knew that her novels often had slow starts; half my dash was reading them and you know how it is when mutuals start reccing a thing; and finally, one of the best friends wanted to read them and suggested we start together. So I personally never had a problem getting into them, but from an outsider's perspective I can see how it's honestly a hard sell. And honestly? A big part of why these books REMAIN so close to my heard is because of the fandom. I have made so many friends because of TRC, talented amazing friends, writers and artists and just general lovers of the books.

Pokemon- Idk man. Being a Pokemon fan is a way of life, at this point. It's so intrinsically intwined with my daily life in so many ways. If you haven't experience the pure bliss of Pokemon fanfiction I'm not really sure what to tell you. I you weren't there on that fateful day on 11/11/22 to watch Ash Ketchum become a World Champion in real time I REALLY don't know what to tell you. Most of you were probably there for Pokemon Go, at least at the beginning. Remember how for a single summer it felt like world peace had been achieved? Pokemon did that. Me and @supreme-sauteer spent like 6 months of this year playing Pokedoku every single day.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - I was reluctant to include this on my list purely because Legend of Korra was like my first real fandom and it was one of the most toxic environments to have as one's jumping off point. There was absolutely no decorum there, people would harass Bryke AND each other on the daily and the ship wars were brutal. But despite it all, I do have many found memories of it too, and the ATLA renaissance of 2020 was a good time for all because of all the good meta content that came out of it. Plus I listen to the Braving the Elements Podcast host by Janet Varney and Dante Basco, and the cabbageheads there are really fun people who love engaging with the show in really thoughtful ways.

Miraculous Ladybug - Listen I am not a part of this fandom anymore since I stopped watching near the end of season...four? Maybe? But that doesn't take away how nostalgic I am for the pure mania this fandom was in the early seasons. I have to give props to this fandom for the dedication they had to wrangling the episodes as they were released in French, English, Korean, etc to organize them and sub them properly so everyone could watch. And the FANWORK that came from this show!! It was such a delight. The memes week by week were hysterical, all the thousand ways you could ship TWO people was so much fun. The art and the fanfiction from Miraculous Ladybug is so unhinged and silly and passionate and I miss being a a part of it.

Big Brother - Most would not know this from my blog because I never talk about it here, but I am diehard Big Brother fan and have been since the beginning. 26 seasons and I've missed TWO. If you've ever talked to me at length during the summer I've probably ghosted you in the middle of a conversation because BB was on. It's the reality show that I truly think would break me mentally but I also fully believe I'd fucking win. Genuinely really want to be a houseguest one day. I watch a TON of analyses about Big Brother on Youtube and all of my family watches it. Every year we do a BB fantasy draft pick based off of contestants' initial interviews only. I've won the past 2 years in a row.

Jurassic Park franchise - We're getting into the weird ones now because I don't post about these on Tumblr despite the fact that they are my entire life. I am a diehard Jurassic Park fan and unfortunately a giant fan of the rest of the franchise despite the fact that most of the subsequent movies are garbage. But they are MY garbage, and I love them. And something that isn't garbage at all? Camp Cretaceous. One of the best shows ever created and SO much fun. But I'm involved in the fandom on the Youtube side of things because the Tumblr fans are a bunch of freaks only concerned with the ships.

Chaos Walking - A classic! The greatest novels of all time, if you haven't heard. This is the smallest fandom I've been a part of, and despite all my hopes and dreams of the movies expanding this trilogy's reach, it unfortunately had the opposite effect and had some people jumping ship because the movie really was THAT BAD. But that doesn't take away from the fondness I have for the fandom, and I expect in the upcoming years it will have an uptick again when the new trilogy comes out in 2026. You should unfollow me because of that, too, because I WILL lose my fucking mind. Did I mention they were the greatest novels of all time?

Oh, I absolutely love waking up at around 8 - 9 AM. Sometimes 7 AM, if I wake up naturally at the time. Those early hours have some magic to them for me. I just love mornings. ❤

Hm... Pale and dark greens, soft and pale pinks, layers and ruffles, gray and brown woodgrain, simplistic designs, girly / anime girl... Hunter x Hunter! If that counts as an aesthetic. Strawberry: Is there any colours you despise?

Ever since we bought Tiny House, I have been annoyed with the off white color that is basically a light brown? If that makes sense? I'm just not too too into browns, but I enjoy them on clothes and nature. Just not in our house, the paints whoever did them before we moved in are so ugly, and they did not do a good job. And I do not like neon colors. They are too bright for me, they actually give me a headache if I look at certain ones for too long.

#7 was The Heart, and #23 was The Fish!

Both of these cards have already come up before in previous readings here (The Heart) and here (The Fish). You can check out the links, as well as the overview document to see some of the basic and common meanings.

These are both cards that generally have quite positive associations, so it's interesting because in the context of this question - "What's holding me back?", we need to really think about how we can look at them through this lens.

One of my immediate thoughts was - The Heart could also be attachment. Is there something we may be more attached to and are reluctant to let go of? Something we fear losing more than we think we could gain by putting ourselves out there?

In a similar vein (haha), is it also possible we may be afraid of success (The Fish)? It's neither a facetious question nor a ridiculous idea. Putting ourselves out there can be scary because we don't know what might happen. And the reality is that even "good" change can be immensely stressful. When something is unfamiliar, when we have uncertainty and speculation, any kind of change can be uncomfortable and scary. Success and what we think success could mean or bring can be really scary. Becoming more known, even for something positive, can be really scary. Having to live up to something over and over can be a great weight.

Similarly, The Heart can also be associated with outreach and giving of yourself. That can be difficult especially if we're already feeling strained and juggling a lot, and sometimes we may not be fully aware of just how much we're carrying - whether it's physical or emotional - until we're on the verge of collapse. And if we think of The Fish as representing a more neutral sense of money (instead of specifically monetary wealth and profit) or resources of any sort (as opposed to financial resources), potential constraints or changes in your relationship to the supports you have (including people and environment) could be another underlying concern.

Looking at the artwork itself:

The Fish shows two fish swimming in opposite directions. It brings to mind the old saying about the spirit being willing but the flesh being weak, basically referring to the motivation or desire being there but other things (e.g., the physical limits of the body, but in this case it could be other variables) not being fully aligned in supporting that.

The Heart illustration is inspired by the story of Bi Gan. In this legendary tale, a man who had his heart cut out managed to stay alive through magical means until he was tricked into thinking about his missing heart after he hears the words "empty heart" (I go into a bit more detail about the story in the overview document, but that's the crux of it). How strongly do you feel about putting yourself out there, in the purpose/cause/need, or does it feel more empty/hollow when you reflect deeply on it? And on the theme of illusions and telling stories for ourselves to believe in - are there things you are assuming that may or may not reflect a more objective reality?

I hope this offers some food for thought!

i rarely if ever post about it on tumblr, but I am a giant Big Brother fan and have seen 24 out of the 26 seasons and watch Youtube videos and listen to podcasts about it constantly. i am also totally convinced i could win if i was ever on despite the fact that i would lose ever single competition

i cook for my family a lot and recently made a recipe that they dubbed "our new favorite way to eat chicken," which is ego boost except for the fact that it's just a recipe i stole from a Hello Fresh card I found at someone's house while i was at work lol

my favorite pokemon will obviously never change, but i feel like my second favorite fluctuates a lot throughout my life. right now it's Clodsire! :]
