Hey sorry if this is a really weird question but I noticed in your tags on that hair post you mention cowash. Does this mean you do the curly girl method? I’m struggling with my curls and I just can’t figure out how to do that method :/

hi! this isn’t a weird question at all don’t worry~

I personally don’t follow the CGM specifically but I did start there before realising it didn’t work for me! ditching shampoo and cleansing only with conditioner made my hair feel so disgusting, it was never clean and was just very icky. the cowash I use isn’t actually just any regular conditioner, it’s sulphate-free shampoo which is the key! any shampoo without sulphates should give you better curls.

figuring out your own routine is definitely just an experimental process though. over the last year I’ve cycled through different products until settling on ones that I like. the CGM works if you have pretty standard hair, but if you’re like me and you have naturally oily/dry scalp/etc. the absence of other products has a negative effect. the principles of CGM are useful though: wash infrequently, cut all suphates out of your routine, plop/blot your hair with a t-shirt or micro fibre towel, and keep your hair hydrated. hopefully this has been a little helpful, I’m not an expert but that’s just what has worked for me~

3.3. Na2CO3 - Soda ash light 99.2%

Natri Cacbonat đóng vai trò là một thành phần quan trọng trong công thức thuốc tẩy vì nó có khả năng làm mềm nước, kết tủa ion Canxi và Magie từ nước. 3.4. NaOH - Natri hydroxit 32%, 45%

NaOH là chất lỏng màu trắng, có khả năng hút ẩm mạnh, dễ chữa cháy. Không có mùi, tan mạnh trong nước lạnh.

3 ways to spot palm oil in the ingredients list

How to spot palm oil - and how to avoid it

Palm oil is found in half of the products on a supermarket shelf: from the frozen pizza, to your dedorant, to your lipstick, laundry detergent, cookies, nutella etc...However, it is the main driver of tropical deforestation. Of course there are no laws banning such ingredients, and companies’ are not obliged to obviously list whether they use palm oil or not…

So what is palm oil?

It is a vegetable oil derived from the fruit of oil palm trees, the scientific name is Elaeis guineensis. Two types of oil can be produced; crude palm oil comes from squeezing the fleshy fruit, and palm kernel oil which comes from crushing the kernel, or the stone in the middle of the fruit. Here a few palm oil’s synonyms so you can get aquainted:

Vegetable Oil, Vegetable Fat, Palmate, Palmitate, Palmolein, Palm Kernel, Palm Kernel Oil, Palm Fruit Oil, Glyceryl, Stearate, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Elaeis Guineensis, Palmitoyl Oxostearamide, Palm Stearine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Kernelate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, Hydrate Palm Glycerides, Etyl Palmidite, Octyl Palmitate, Palmityl Alcohol, Sodium Lauryl Lactylate/Suphate.

 Ingredients that definitely contain, or are derived from, palm oil 

Anything containing the word 'palm'

eg. palm kernel, palm stearine, palm fruit oil or more technical name such as palmitate, palmate, and palmitoyl.

There are a lot of other technical names containing the word 'palm'. If you see this forming part of a word, you can assume the product contains a derivative of palm oil. 

2. Derivatives of palm oil

such as: Elaeis Guineensis, Saponified Elaeis Guineensis and Sodium Kernelate.  

3. Products made from palm oil

*these could be products of coconut oil too, check with the brand to make sure

SLS - present in most soaps, foam washes, shower gels, bubble baths and anything else that foams when you use it. This may also be listed as Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate.

Ingredients containing the words 'sodium' or 'sulphate', such as Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate (also known as SDS or NADS),  Sodium Isostearoyl Lactylaye and Fatty alcohol sulphate.

Anything containing the words 'cetyl' or 'isopropyl'.  

Ingredients containing the wordS 'Steareth', Stearate or Lactylate

'Cocoa butter equivalent' or 'cocoa butter substitute' (CBE or CBS)

Ingredients containing 'glycerol' or 'glyceryl'

Why is Palm Oil used in everything?

Palm oil is an extremely versatile oil that has many different properties and functions which makes it so useful and so widely used. It is semi-solid at room temperature so can keep spreads spreadable; it is resistant to oxidation and so can give products a longer shelf-life; it’s stable at high temperatures and so helps to give fried products a crispy and crunchy texture; it’s also odourless and colourless so doesn’t alter the look or smell of food products. In Asian and African countries, palm oil is used widely as a cooking oil, just like we might use sunflower or olive oil here. (taken from the WWF).

Women all across the world use makeup on a daily basis to try and look their best. Most medicine cabinets inside a female’s domain are filled to the brim with lots and lots of cosmetics.

How Much Makeup?

The average female uses up to 20 different skincare products per day (according to a recent study). This adds up to a phenomenal amount of makeup and skincare product use per year. This is particularly interesting due to the fact that most of these products contain a large helping of chemicals.

As basic chemistry teaches us, when two chemicals are mixed together there is often a reaction. Thus, the various products that women put on their face during any one given day may result in a chemical reaction that is less than positive.

What can be done about this possible problem? Simply put, we have to be more careful about the products that we place upon our skin. It is crucial to understand what each chemical inside of a makeup or skincare product does, and whether or not it will cause a negative reaction when it is mixed with another product.

Where Do Chemicals Go?

If a small amount of a skincare product is accidentally swallowed, then the stomach will simply break up that product resulting in no harm done. However, if a product is simply placed upon the skin, it will be instantly absorbed, and it will enter into your bloodstream almost immediately.

This means that you could be doing a lot more harm to your skin than you think. Take a good look at those chemicals that are included in your skincare and makeup products. Find out what each chemical means, and make sure that they are not part of the “chemical watch list.”

Possible Problems

Some chemicals that are currently under scrutiny include parabens and sodium lauryl suphate. While the cosmetics industry states that there is no need for concern, this may not be entirely true.

For the time being, simply be aware of the things that you are placing upon your skin. If a skincare product is laden with chemicals, take the time to figure out what those chemicals are…and ask yourself if you should be using organic products instead.

Go Organic

Most organic products are derived from natural sources. This means that these products contain items that are safe for your skin. You can feel good about using an organic product when it comes to your skin.

Unlike other chemical laden products, organic products will not harm your skin. In the end, it’s worth it to take a closer look at the skincare products that you do use. While there may not be any known chemical side effects at the moment, these things have a way of changing in the blink of any eye.
