Day 14/366: January 14th 2024 | Xiaolongkan with Vicky 🌶️

Me eating hot pot, what a surprise. Our first hang out of the year! I love XLK so much. It truly is my favourite restaurant and meal ever. We ordered medium spicy pot with chicken feet, tripe, beef, potato noodles, sweet potato noodles, and shrimp paste. I also ate a lot of side dish radish and about 100 melons from the sauce bar. Managed to get us 20% off so yay!

Style Hack: Kids Coats = Petite Coats

The temperatures are really starting to drop here in Toronto. While part of me hates the cold as much as any reasonable person, I can’t help but feel a bit excited, only because I love a good jacket. Unfortunately, being 5 feet tall and 105 pounds, I do have a hard time finding a jacket that fits me well AND is on trend. Sure, Topshop carries a Petite line, but they don’t have a great selection of styles at The Bay, and their price points are higher than I’d like for a “trendy” piece that I’ll only be able to wear for 2-3 seasons. 

Now, I am so not above shopping in the kids’ section (I proudly wear a Gap Boys’ belt on the daily), but it’s challenging to find a kids’ jacket that a) is the right STYLE i.e. free of embroidered Disney characters, and b) is the right FIT i.e. has sleeves that are long enough and a bust area that can accommodate a post-pubescent body. 

In swoops the Zara Girls’ line to save the day. I was browsing their online store and noticed that they have a huge selection of incredible styles that are on trend and SUPER affordable (all under $70!), so I popped into my closest location and did a bit of a try-on session. I’m happy to report that the fit totally delivers. I wear an XS or 00-0 in adult sizes, and their Girls’ size 11-12 fit me the best. The biggest size they carry is 13-14, so that could probably accommodate up to an adult size Small or 0-2.
