happy wednesday yall! getting this in super late since rehearsal's been kicking my ass. thanks to @emsprovisions @lemonlyman-dotcom and @whatsintheboxmh for the tags today! I haven't written too much recently but here's from the supernatural au:

Carlos wakes up to a heavy, furry weight on his chest.

He opens his eyes. His husband is laying on his back on top of Carlos, fully shifted. Now that it's turning colder TK's coat is white and incredibly fluffy, and normally Carlos loves to sink his hands into it and enjoy the texture but right now it feels like he's about to suffocate on wolf fur.

"TK," he mumbles, shoving at TK's flank. It does nothing to move him off of Carlos' chest. He's reminded just how heavy TK can get when he's in his wolf form. "TK, you've shifted."

His husband lets out a low rumble which probably translates to, Five more minutes. It would be funny and cute if it didn't put pressure on Carlos' still-healing wound.

SPN Reader Insert FanFic Writing Challenge: Gender Studies

In our Discord server today, we had a great talk about Reader Insert fics and what tips and tricks we use to entertain our audience without alienating them. At the end of the chat, the subject of Gender Neutral Reader Inserts came up. The main point we all agreed on was that we need to strip away gender stereotypes and just write a basic person in order for a GNRIC (Gender Neutral Reader Insert Character) to work. We tried listing some of those gender stereotypes and did not come up with many besides women being more emotional and men being less likely to discuss feelings. That discussion brought us to this challenge.

Because we want as many writers as possible to join us for this, all participants will be entered into a drawing to win prizes from the Prize List!

What (earns you one entry into the drawing) - Write a one-shot two ways: once with a Female Reader Insert Character (FRIC) and then write the same story with a Male Reader Insert Character (MRIC). Pick a trope and a genre (use your favorites or you can use our SPN Prompt Generator for ideas), figure out a scenario, and then write the same basic story for each gender.

Bonus (earns you an additional entry into the drawing) - Write a third fic but with a GNRIC.

Additional Bonus (earns you an additional entry into the drawing) - Once you've written both, tell us how writing each one made you feel. What basic differences did you keep in mind as you were writing? What problems did you expect to run into, were those the same problems you actually had while writing, and what unexpected problems did you encounter?

Fic parameters -

At least 1000 words.

The pairing does not need to be romantic, but you will earn an extra entry into the drawing if the pairing is romantic.

The fic does not need to have smut, but you will earn an additional entry into the drawing if there is any level of smut. (Kissing and some fondling or something like phone sex is the minimum to earn the extra entry.)

My submission for day 1 ‘Autumn’ of Suptober24! @wigglebox

The boys go pumpkin picking. Dean spends ages looking for the perfect pumpkin, it can't just be any old squash, it has to be 'the one' and as he looks across the orange field, he eyes find a certain angel.

Castiel, always one for strays, collects all the misshapen and discoloured pumpkins and convinces the hunter to let him get them all because he's sad no one else will want them.

Also, Sam is there. Kind of, he finds an excuse to leave the field, refusing to be the third wheel of this weird eye-fucking tricycle any longer.

DeanCas Wild West Fest (DWWF) is a bang-style event where authors and artists will be paired up to create works inspired by all things Western — from homesteading and rodeos to outlaws and train robberies.

Authors will be expected to write a 5,000+ word DeanCas/Destiel fan-fiction that falls into the Western genre. Artists will then create one work of original artwork and one banner inspired by the fic they are paired with.

Prompt 1

Dean never thought he’d find peace.  The hunter was accustomed to the roar of engines and the hiss of danger, not the gentle lull of waves. Yet, here he was, standing on a deserted stretch of beach, the wind ruffling his flannel shirt, as he watched the horizon turn from gold to a deep, calming blue.

Beside him, Castiel stood quietly, his ever-present trench coat fluttering in the breeze. The angel’s blue eyes reflected the vastness of the ocean, capturing the same power and beauty Dean had come to cherish. They had fought countless battles together, faced down monsters, and saved the world more times than he cared to count. But this moment felt different. It felt like a victory all on its own. The sun dipped lower, casting a warm glow over the sand. Dean glanced at Castiel, his heart swelling with feelings that had grown quietly, like the tide creeping up the shore. He thought of the countless times Cas had saved him, not just from physical dangers, but from the darkness within himself. The angel has been his anchor, his constant, in a life filled with chaos.

“Dean,” Castiel’s voice was soft, barely louder than the lapping of the waves. “Why did you bring me here?”

Dean shrugged, a small smile playing at his lips. “Thought it was time we had a break. Besides,” he added, turning to face Cas fully, “you deserve to see something beautiful.”

Castiel’s gaze softened, a hint of confusion mingling with the affection in his eyes. “I have seen beauty, Dean. I see it every time I look at you.”

Dean felt a blush creep up his neck, and he ducked his head, scuffing his boot in the sand. “Shut up, Cas,” Dean responded, although it was hard for him to disguise his pleasure.

They stood in comfortable silence, the sound of the ocean filling the space between them. Dean reached out, hesitantly at first, and took Castiel’s hand in his. The touch was grounding, electric.

“Is this ok?” Dean asked, his voice rough with the rush of emotion.

Castiel’s eyes searched Dean’s face, before dropping his gaze to their hands. Castiel was silent for a long time before looking back up at Dean, his face flushed, his eyes shining.  “Dean...?” Castiel responded, incredulity, hope, and love clear in his eyes.

Dean took a deep breath, the words tumbling out before he could second-guess himself. “I love you, Cas. I’ve loved you for a long time.”

For a moment, Castiel said nothing, his expression unchanged. Then, a slow, radiant smile spread across his face. “I love you too, Dean. More than you know.”

Dean felt a weight lift off his shoulders, a sense of completeness he hadn’t realized he was missing. He pulled Castiel into a gentle embrace, their foreheads touching.  Dean felt an unfamiliar sense of calm settle over him. The ocean's rhythmic murmur seemed to echo the newfound peace in his heart. The world around them seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them standing on the beach, enveloped in the soft, dimming light.

Dean looked out at the ocean, the waves gently lapping at the shore. "You know, I used to think I'd never find a place where I could just... be. Where I could stop running from everything."

Castiel tilted his head, a small smile playing on his lips. "And now?"

Dean turned back to him, the corners of his mouth lifting in a shy smile. "Now, I think I've found it, with you."

Castiel's expression softened, his eyes reflecting all the mystery and allure of the boundless sea. "You are my home, Dean," he said quietly, his voice carrying the weight of eternity. "No matter where we go, as long as we're together, I will always have peace."

The words hung in the air, mingling with the sound of the waves and the faint call of distant seabirds. Dean nodded, feeling the truth of them resonate. He leaned in, resting his head against Castiel's shoulder, savoring the quiet intimacy of the moment.

Bathed in the tranquil glow of the moon and stars, the two men stood, side by side on that long stretch of sand, while the waves continued their gentle dance.

And in that moment, everything felt right. Complete.  It felt like the end of one journey and the start of another – a new chapter in their lives, with the sweetest of beginnings... written right there, together, by the edge of the sea.

So sorry, everyone. I had an absolute stroke moment and closed Prompt Requests too early! The GOOD news is that we have plenty of prompts, so we will be running the... Infinite Cakes Great Big Bang!

Instead of a Destiel-only bang for our inaugural run, we're running two separate bangs at once! This allows for MOAR CAKE for absolutely everyone!

"I can't stand those braindead Hellers, so I'm not participating" "Wincesties are morally bankrupt, leave me out." I hear you. We've got you. Not only will the Destiel channels be completely separate from the All Ships channels, we'll be giving All Ships a few extra channels so that conversations about underage or incest ships don't squick anyone out. Today is different, though. They've finally gotten to the point where they're ready to resume the weekly hangouts with friends, although Carlos is still irked that TK won't let him create one of his signature charcuterie boards for game night.

"I just don't want you straining yourself," TK says while he makes the spread himself. A part of Carlos is certain he's doing it wrong somehow, but he doesn't voice that. TK points at him with the small knife in his hand, a piece of cheese in his mouth. "Also, germs. Our friends don't want your germs, babe."

"I'm not sick," Carlos protests, though by now it's a moot point.

TK makes a show of swallowing his bite of cheese. At the rate he's going, there might not be any left for their guests tonight. "Maybe I should ask Nancy to check you out," TK muses.

Carlos scoffs, then turns back to his phone. TK had compromised not making food by exchanging his playlist duties, and Carlos will be damned if it's not the perfect vibe. "What would Nancy find that you couldn't? At some point, you're going to have to drop this 'I'm sick' stuff."

A piece of salami hits the back of his head. Carlos turns back around only to find a mischievous smirk on TK's face. "Nancy can probably do some witchy shit that is beyond me," TK points out, "and it never hurts to get a second opinion."
