Movie Review - Deadpool & Wolverine
I love this movie. It’s funny, it’s endearing, and its emotional climax actually hit me right in the feels. It manages to balance its signature irreverent humor with genuine heart, which is no easy feat when your protagonist is a walking fourth-wall-breaking punchline. That being said, even in a movie I thoroughly enjoyed, there were a few things that stuck out—some for the right reasons, others… not so much.
Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool, and while someone else could take over someday, they’d have a hell of a time making it their own. Then there’s Hugh Jackman, back as Wolverine like he never left. If anyone thought he’d phone it in after Logan, think again—he’s just as grumpy, just as savage, and just as likely to claw Deadpool in the face as ever. Their dynamic is everything you’d want: pure, chaotic, violent buddy comedy with just enough begrudging camaraderie to make you believe they’d actually die for each other.
However, With each passing Deadpool movie, Vanessa feels more and more like a plot device than a character. It was bad in the second movie, but somehow, it felt even worse here. She gets the “oh woe is me, I’m a monster, you can’t see me” treatment and the kidnapped damsel role in the first film, gets fridged in the second, and now, in the third, she’s the distant ex. It’s as if the writers couldn’t decide what to do with her, so they just cycled through every love interest cliché in the book.
Look, relationships fall apart. People die. But you can’t expect me to care if we barely see them together in the first place. And unlike most of the narrative choices in the Deadpool films—which are usually deliberate, self-aware jabs at genre tropes—Vanessa’s treatment doesn’t feel like a satire of love interest archetypes. It just feels like lazy writing.
When the movie jumps into the TVA and the multiverse, there’s a lot of potential for unique characters and fun new dynamics, and while some of them absolutely deliver, others feel like missed opportunities.
Cassandra Nova is a riot—chewing the scenery in a way that perfectly matches Deadpool’s tone while still managing to be a credible threat. She understands the assignment and brings just the right amount of menace and humor. The scene-stealer, though, is Wolverine himself. The moment he shows up in his classic yellow-and-blue suit, the movie shifts into a whole new level of fun. Watching him begrudgingly work with Deadpool—especially against a grotesque, past-his-prime version of himself—makes for some of the best action sequences in the film.
But not every character gets the same level of attention. Some of the side characters introduced in the TVA feel underdeveloped, existing purely to deliver exposition or serve as obstacles rather than adding any real depth to the story. The film throws a lot of interesting concepts at the wall, but it doesn’t always take the time to explore them fully.
Now, onto something else that bugged me: the whole Deadpool variant thing. The movie directly connects itself to Loki, which did the exact same concept, only… better. Loki had multiple versions of its main character—including an animal one—and I’m sorry, but Alligator Loki is just a funnier concept. There’s something about a scaly little menace in a tiny horned crown that hits on a deeper comedic level than just “what if Deadpool, but dog?”
And beyond the comedy, Loki’s use of variants actually meant something. The show used them to reflect Loki’s self-destructive nature, showing that no matter the timeline, no matter the circumstance, he was destined to sabotage himself. It was a joke and a key part of his character arc—like a snake swallowing its own tail.
The Deadpool variants? Yeah, they were funny, but what did they actually add to the movie beyond being a temporary obstacle to stretch out the finale? There was no deeper emotional or thematic payoff. They were just… there. Which, to be fair, is kind of Deadpool’s whole thing—sometimes, a joke is just a joke. But when the movie tries to have its cake and eat it too, blending heartfelt moments with absurdist humor, it makes me wish they’d found a way to tie the variants into the story in a more meaningful way.
That said, none of these gripes ruined the movie for me. I still had an absolute blast watching it. It’s chaotic in all the best ways, it delivers exactly what you want from a Deadpool film, and most importantly—it made me laugh. Reynolds and Jackman’s chemistry is pitch-perfect, the action is as gloriously over-the-top as you’d hope, and while the movie doesn’t always nail its emotional beats, when it does, it really hits.
Is it the best Deadpool movie? That’s debatable. But did I have an absolute blast watching it? 100%. And in the end, isn’t that what really matters?

Zoe Saldana is an actress who has become known for her dynamic performances in a variety of films, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. In the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Zoe reprises her role as the fierce warrior Gamora, and fans are eagerly anticipating her performance in this highly anticipated movie.
In this blog post, we'll take a behind-the-scenes look at how Zoe brings Gamora to life on screen, exploring the preparation, training, and emotional work that goes into creating such a dynamic and complex character.
Preparation and Training
One of the first things that Zoe does when preparing to play Gamora is to immerse herself in the character's backstory and history. Gamora is the adopted daughter of the villainous Thanos, and she has a complex relationship with both her father and her adoptive sister Nebula. To fully understand and embody the character, Zoe spends time researching the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series, as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe films that have featured Gamora in the past.
Zoe also works closely with the film's directors and choreographers to develop Gamora's physicality and fighting style. Gamora is a skilled warrior, and she engages in several intense fight scenes throughout the movie. To prepare for these scenes, Zoe trains extensively in martial arts and other forms of combat. She also works with the film's stunt team to develop the choreography for each fight scene, ensuring that each move is executed with precision and authenticity.
Emotional Work
In addition to the physical demands of playing Gamora, Zoe also spends a lot of time developing the character's emotional depth and complexity. Gamora has a complicated history and a lot of emotional baggage, and Zoe works to understand and convey these aspects of the character on screen.
To do this, Zoe spends time delving into the character's motivations and emotions, working with the film's writers and directors to fully understand the nuances of Gamora's personality and backstory. She also draws on her own personal experiences and emotions to bring authenticity to the character's emotional journey.
Chemistry with Co-Stars
Another important aspect of bringing Gamora to life on screen is developing chemistry with the other members of the Guardians team. Gamora has a complex relationship with her adoptive sister Nebula, played by Karen Gillan, and the two actresses have developed a chemistry on screen that is both tense and poignant. Zoe has also developed a strong rapport with her other co-stars, including Chris Pratt, who plays the team's leader Peter Quill, and Dave Bautista, who plays the hulking Drax the Destroyer.
This chemistry is essential to creating a sense of camaraderie and teamwork within the Guardians team, and it helps to make the characters' interactions and relationships feel more authentic and nuanced.
Costumes and Makeup
Of course, it's impossible to talk about Gamora without mentioning her distinctive costumes and makeup. Gamora's green skin tone and sleek, armor-like outfits have become iconic elements of the character's look, and Zoe plays an active role in the creation of these costumes.
Zoe works closely with the film's costume and makeup teams to develop the look of Gamora, providing input on the design and details of each costume and makeup application. She also spends several hours each day in the makeup chair, undergoing the intricate process of applying the green makeup that gives Gamora her distinctive appearance.
Conclusion
Overall, the process of bringing Gamora to life on screen is a complex and challenging one, requiring a combination of physical training, emotional work, chemistry with co-stars, and careful attention to costume and makeup. Zoe Saldana is an actress who has mastered this process, bringing a depth and nuance to the character of Gamora that has

Deadpool is straight? Really? 🤔 It's fascinating how people still claim that, especially when you look at how Deadpool 3 was marketed. The character's known for subverting expectations, and his flirtations with both men and women are part of what makes him such a unique anti-hero. Not to mention his pansexuality was highlighted even more in the promotional material. 😆 So, are we sure he's ‘straight’? 🤷♂️

When a meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross takes an unexpected turn, Sam is thrust into the heart of an international crisis. As tensions rise, he must unravel a sinister global conspiracy before its mastermind plunges the world into chaos. The narrative centers on Sam Wilson embracing his role as Captain America, confronting political conspiracies, and addressing the complex legacy of his predecessor. The film attempts to weave socio-political commentary into its storyline, reflecting contemporary issues. However, some critics argue that these themes are not explored with the depth they warrant, leading to a portrayal that feels superficial

Captain America Brave New World Review – Does Anthony Mackie Deliver?
People have been waiting a long time for Captain America: Brave New World to come out, and now it has. Fans can't wait to see how Anthony Mackie continues to carry on the shield's legacy. There were a lot of high hopes when Harrison Ford joined the MCU and the franchise went in a new direction. But does the movie live up to all the fuss? Let's read the Captain America: Brave New World review to find out what people who saw the movie thought of it. Read our Captain America Brave New World Review.
Captain America Brave New World Review
Captain America: Brave New World is the first movie with Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America. It's made by Marvel Studios. The movie deals with political issues, has intense action scenes, and tells stories through its characters. Early reviews, on the other hand, aren't very positive. Some call it "flat-out good," while others say it lacks the depth of previous Captain America movies.
Storyline – A New Era for Captain America
The movie takes place after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Sam Wilson has fully taken on the role of Captain America. When a new global threat comes up, he has to prove himself in the face of political plots, his own doubts, and strong enemies. Harrison Ford makes his first appearance in the MCU as President Thaddeus Ross, which makes the story more intense. The movie tries to be both action-packed and story-driven, but some critics say it doesn't have the emotional weight of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Direction – A Safe Yet Entertaining Approach
The action-packed movie directed by Julius Onah is good, but it doesn't take too many risks. There is good choreography in the fight scenes, and the cinematography is nice to look at. But when compared to the Russo Brothers' Captain America movies, the direction seems a bit formulaic.
Acting Performances – Anthony Mackie Shines, Harrison Ford Impresses
- Anthony Mackie shows that he deserves the shield by giving a great performance as Captain America. - Harrison Ford gives his role as President Ross weight, which makes every scene he's in powerful. - Dan Ramirez (Joaquin Torres) and Carl Lumbly (Isaiah Bradley) give the movie more emotional depth. On the other hand, the bad guys in the movie don't seem very scary, which lowers the tension.
Music – A Blend of Nostalgia and Modern MCU Score
The background music was written by Henry Jackman, who also did the music for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It has both exciting action beats and heroic themes. The music makes important scenes more powerful, but it's not as iconic as other Marvel scores.
Screenplay – Engaging but Predictable
High-stakes action and political drama in the screenplay keep people interested. But some of the dialogue and plot twists are too obvious, which keeps the movie from being truly great.
Final Verdict: One Time Watch
Captain America: Brave New World is a good addition to the MCU, even though it has some problems. Even though it's not as good as The Winter Soldier, it does a good job of making Sam Wilson the new Captain America and has some exciting action scenes. Fans of the franchise will enjoy it, but people who haven't seen the series before might find it entertaining but not very new.
