a) A quick introduction to Andrea

Andrea Rojas joined Supergirl in Season 5, when (a heartbroken) Lean, who felt betrayed by Kara, sold CatCo Media on to her friend Andrea, who is also the CEO of Obsidian Tech.

Andrea has a secret identity and powers as Acrata and appeared in several DC comics and shows before, but her backstory and character were heavily tweaked for the Supergirl TV show.

To be hones I did not watch enough of Season 5 to really understand the plot and background around Leviathan and the medallion that is linked to Andrea's powers (and from what I have seen of the show this might not have made all that much sense away...) What is important to know (and is often referenced in fic) is that to get the medallion, Andrea needed to betray Lena (and break her heart).

While at first it seemed that Andrea was just another shitty boss for Kara at CatCo, she turned out to be a fascinating character with a lot of shipping potential.

I read somewhere that Andre was so high maintenance that she might as well be a Maserati and obviously this is the car she drives in several of the stories.

b) Andrea's ships overview

Lena Luthor/Andrea Rojas (RojasCorp)

In canon Lena and Andrea are former best friends but many fans interpret their history as ex-lovers. Andrea and Lena definitely have history (some of which is explored in the show) and a lot of chemistry. While shipping Andrea with Lena an obvious shipping choice, this is a relatively rare pair, especially considering that there are few long fics and in a large part of the fics in the AO3 ship tag RojasCorp is not the actual or main ship.

This has mostly remained a crack ship and a rarepair. There are a few AUs and a large part of the fics are smutty / PWP fics, often featuring some form of kinky / forbidden / hate sex with your boss

Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor/Andrea Rojas (SuperRojasCorp)

SuperRojasCorp is a relatively popular ship (especially considering that it is a polyamorous ship). Maybe because it allows Supercorp shippers (who usually only ship this one ship) to explore a bit outside their comfort zone without leaving Supercorp behind (this might also explain the relative popularity of SuperReignCorp). Regardless, there are many interesting ways how fics can explore this ship in AUs or close to canon settings.

Samantha "Sam" Arias/Andrea Rojas (Reignjas/Rojarias)

There is one relatively popular ship of two characters that have never met in canon: Andrea/Sam. There is a surprising amount of longer AUs, in which some variation of enemies to lovers is a popular theme.

This is a fantastic and very well written story, that is currently incomplete.

Like the author's ReignCorp stories, this fic paints a lively and coherent picture of the character's past and how their relationship developed and fell apart. Telling their story as flashbacks works really well and they make such a beautiful pair of ex-lovers who hurt each other, but never really stopped loving each other. Loved this amazing story. Highly recommended.

The author had originally published this story on a different account in 2020. This re-published version makes some changes, although as far as I remember the original versions, nothing too major until chapter 6. With the end of chapter 6 the story nearly reached where the original version of the story ended (with a happy ending). I am curious where the rewrite will take the story.

I really like this story. This is a canon divergent story in which Andrea and Lena used to be lovers and Lena has a lot of regrets. Also, Lena is the Paragon of humanity and Andrea was pregnant.

This is probably the only longer and finished canon adjacent Andrea/Kara fic and it works well to build a connection and ultimately a love story between them. It is a great fic with a full story arc. Not smutty, really enjoyed this.

The people in Kara’s life worry that this new woman might be too good to be true, while Kara just wishes everyone could be happy for her. Lena will have to decide whether she wants to hold on to her pride, or save the girl she worked so hard on hating.

The fic was originally called "But in the end in Wonderland, we both went mad" (until the author renamed it to Wonderland). While a part of the fic is Kara/Andrea, this is ultimately a SuperCorp story.

She gave her the tiniest shake of the head in wonder. “What are you doing?” “What are we doing?” Kara countered. “Some healthy after hours stress relief?” Andrea said simply, and perhaps to her, it really was that simple. a.k.a. a colleagues with benefits AU, wherein Kara and Andrea inadvertently find more than just solace in each other.

Pitch Meeting by Evilsnowswan She doesn’t have a problem with pleasure. She takes pleasure in a lot of things. Her favorite foods, flying, the feeling of sunlight on her skin first thing in the morning. What she takes issue with is the way that Andrea Rojas and her company have turned pleasure into something that can be put into a sleek black box and sold to the masses like something they didn’t already own. Pleasure— like love, like courage, like hope— shouldn’t be commodified. Or: Obsidian North expands the product range and not everyone is happy about it.

They weren’t completely exclusive when Kara Danvers came bounding into Lena’s life like an overeager puppy, and Andrea had braced herself for the loss that never came.

If you like Evilsnowswan's Something to Be Earned, then you will probably enjoy this story, too. Highly recommended if you are into the themes.

Another Christmas themed fic, but in contrast to the other Andrea/Sam fics, in this fic rec they were friends (with benefits) or something (that Andrea does not want to think about) in College. They did not talk for years, until they met again at the Women in Tech conference in National City.

This is a great fic. Told exclusively from Andreas PV and very focused. A text from Lena, but otherwise it's only Andrea, Sam and Ruby. Loved angry/annoyed/snarky Andrea, the scenes at the airline counter are amazing.

Andrea Rojas' jet is stuck in Metropolis Airport. Every single hotel in the city is full. Her only chance at avoiding staying in an airport terminal until the storm blows over? Staying at Sam Arias' brownstone in downtown Metropolis. Only thing is, Sam has a daughter. Who hates her. Oh and also, she hates Sam Arias. aka the reignjas hallmark movie au

I really enjoyed this fic. I really liked that some history with Lena is implied both for Sam and Andrea (but nothing specific about Lena's current or former relationships is explicitly stated). Another one with spot on angry/annoyed/snarky Andrea. And there is an amazing reveal scenes (this one is not about Kara) in Supergirl fanfic.

Favorite Quote

Angrily pressing the 'end call' button on her phone doesn't have the same catharsis of slamming down a handset or snapping a flip phone closed. Andrea grimaces, and prepares to fight to get her checked luggage. She angrily tweets @Metropolis_Airport and gets a placating, watered down PR-friendly message in response, and a reiteration that it's for safety. Andrea couldn't give a shit about safety at this point. She just wants to get home. Home to her apartment, her kitchen, her wine.

sam arias and andrea rojas despise each other. they also constantly find themselves in the same circles, at the same conferences, at the same lonely places at exactly the same time. what happens when they're thousands of miles from home with only alcohol to keep them company? hint: hate sex, naturally.

This is a very well written fic from one of my favorite authors. And this is the fic that got this ship launched.

However, to avoid potential disappointments (and without spoiling too much): While there are elements of an Andrea/Lena/Sam love triangle in this fic, you should be aware that the primary ship is Andrea/Sam and this is the ship that gets a happy ending.

Quote from the author's end note: "not the ending anyone was expecting, but hopefully still a good one lots of reasons for why i went the direction i did... and i think its suitable for how the characters were written, and i really just felt like reignjas needed their endgame"

the red string of fate AU- The red string of fate is a tale as old as time, and it isn't that Sam doesn't believe in it. She absolutely, wholeheartedly does. In fact, she probably believes in it more than a well-adjusted adult should. Andrea knows a soulmate is someone sacred. They're someone permanent and valuable and hers. It's not something she'll readily admit out loud, but the prospect of having someone out there made for her is addicting. It's the only thing she clings to when everything feels overwhelming and impossible. She thinks about it quite often, actually, but if anyone asks, she'll deny it. OR Sam and Andrea despise each other, but when they meet in person for the first time, they realize the red string of fate has them connected. Chaos ensues.

An amazing, very well written fic. The combination of soulmates AU and enemies to maybe something to enemies to lovers provides a thrilling emotional roller coaster ride.

Favorite Quote

she knows very little about taking care of children, so whatever Lena told Sam about her qualifications is a stretch of the truth at best. Reading to them occasionally is one thing, but being in charge of a small person is terrifying. Not to mention, she doesn't know the first thing about pre-teens. How often do they eat? Do they need sunlight? Do they need to be watered?

Okay, they're not plants, but it's kind of the same thing, right?

a) A quick introduction to Astra

Astra In-Ze was a Kryptonian general, the twin sister of Kara's mother Alura and thus Kara's aunt. She was put in prison for eco terrorism and together with the other inmates of in Fort Rozz was one of the few survivors of Krypton's destruction. As a Kryptonian on Earth she has similar powers and weaknesses as Supergirl.

On the show Astra only appears in season 1, in which the was one of the main antagonists. Astra is an original character created for the show, who did not appear in DC comics before.

Astra was a fascinating character and one of the highlights of season 1. It was sad that Astra never got a redemption arc, but considering the quality of the show's writing, it is hard to imagine that it would have been satisfying anyway. Aw well, this is what fanfiction is for, and there are indeed several fics with redemption arcs for Astra.

This was the first pair I shipped in Supergirl and the one that made me fall in love with the show and the fandom.

When I watched the first scene Alex and Astra had together I thought wow, this is kinda gay and a lot of subtest. I wonder if they will ever do anything with it. Of course, they didn't.

But looking at AO3, I realized that I was by far not the only one who saw the potential for this ship. Unsurprising considering the source material, there is a lot of potential for angsty and darker fics, but there are also a few lighter AUs.

If you shipped Alex/Astra and were open for/to polyamorous relationships, this was the natural progression to combine Astra with Alex's season 2 canon relationship. Not the rarest ship but pretty rare.

This is a ship that I did not see coming. It is even more removed from canon than Alex / Astra / Maggie, because obviously Astra and Maggie never met on screen. True rarepair but with one brilliant long fic: And Alsike's masterpiece (see below) is the only reason why I included this ship here.

“Alex blinked after her retreating form, wondering how she’d gone from trying to get this woman the hell out of her classroom to inviting her to read advanced environmental science literature together over coffee.” Or Astra is interested in learning more about human culture and *very* interested in what Alex is teaching her Intro to Environmental Science students at National City Community College

This is an AU that give the answer to the question: how would Alex‘s life be if she had not become an secret government Agent/ vigilante? This is an Alex centric story, in which she is a researcher and teaches in a community college. While Astra and Kara are Kryptonian and have powers there are no superheroes, no DEO and no fighting in this fic.

The fic is optimistic, pretty lighthearted and very well written. I enjoyed it a lot. A perfect, medium length AU that has a satisfying ending and leaves you wanting more.

My favorite part, that made me laugh was this conversation between Alex and Kara:

“That’s so inappropriate.”

“She’s not your student. Also, not a student literally at all.”

“I mean, yeah, I guess. I don’t know. She’s kind of an asshole, though.”

“So she’s your type.”

“Shut up. I don’t wanna talk about it.”

Human Again by Anonymississippi Alex Danvers sets off to find her sister after an incident prevents Kara from traveling to the Artist's Festival in the next village. But, when she finds Kara held hostage in an enchanted castle in the middle of a mysterious forest, she offers herself as hostage in return for Kara's freedom. She's soon living with a woman covered in the scars she meted out to past victims. A former General who is more likely to yell at her than deliver a kind word. But, when their connection to Kara draws them closer, Alex gets wrapped up in an adventure she never planned on, becoming the key to a decade-old enchantment placed over the entire castle. Will her changing feelings break the spell before the final petal falls?

Kara's trip through the Phantom Zone was difficult and left her struggling with social skills and management of her emotions and senses. Alex's work for the DEO is less black-ops and more equal parts therapist, doctor, social worker and cop. She drinks a little too much in order to deal with the pressure. Fort Rozz never crashed on earth, but Astra did.

Everything seems like it’s on the right path, until Astra returns from the dead and throws everything into chaos.

This was inspired by the one-shot "One Year Sober" but it is not connected to it.

A classic and well written Alex/Astra/Maggie story from one of my favorite authors. Alex has a drinking problem that is not just implied or skirted around but actually addressed in the fic. There is also quite a bit of Kryptonian mythology.

Once, Alex had wanted to be a scientist, wanted to make something of her life, but presenting as an omega threw a wrench into all that. It didn't help that she was in the middle of an internship with Max Lord at the time, and stumbled into being his private toy. But that was a long time ago. Now she's freelance, self-sufficient, and very, very competent. Sex work is work, it's not fun, but it pays better than being a barista. It's just acting, but with only one role: the perfect omega.

But then a new client shows up, looking to hire her as an omega third for her alpha-alpha relationship, and this alpha isn't all that interested in the perfect omega. She might want Alex to just be Alex. And for once, Alex might have a good few days at work.

My second Alex / Astra / Maggie rec has a very different dynamic than the first one, and funnily enough that is mostly not due to the fact that it is a (non-traditional) Alpha/Beta/Omega (ABO) story. While in most of the polyamorous F/F/F stories I enjoy and rec the three characters end in a relationship together, this is not the case here: In this story Astra and Maggie are in a long term relationship and Astra hires (sex worker) Alex for a weekend.

In essence this is an excellent ABO smut with plot story with superb character and world building. Highly recommended.

Maggie Sawyer is looking forward, not back. She's left Nebraska for Gotham, is figuring out her job prospects, sleeping with as many girls as possible, and getting to know the alien community in the big city.

A not-quite chance encounter with an alien who has lost her world and is struggling to find out if any part of it remains forces Maggie to remember just how much she has left behind. New city, new job, new friends, new apartment--clearly the only thing Maggie was missing was a jerk-face alien with a mystery to solve. Oh look. There she is.

The story is told exclusively from Maggie's POV. Through Maggie's eyes we learn about the perils of working for the Gotham police department (not the world's finest) learn about Aliens and in particular about an intriguing and infuriating Alien who introduces herself as Ace.

Written in a way that it could fit in before the show started. Although I doubt that the Astra portrayed in this story would have been a real villain after that...

This story is a masterpiece and a wonderful Maggie character study. I loved the scenes when Maggie met Batman and Superman.

Favorite quote

She scooped another bottle out of the drawer and tossed it to Ace. "Lube. Vegan and organic, totally edible."

"What?"

Maggie laughed. "Which part? Lube reduces friction, and this kind has no animal byproducts or synthetic pesticides in its production. It's still industrially manufactured, so it's not gonna stop the end of the world, but baby steps, you know. I like to make the effort with sex. The things you like should be sustainable, right?"

Ace looked from her to the bottle and then back again, her expression unreadable. She seemed to want to speak, but hesitated, then set down the bottle. "I'm sorry your planet is dying," she said, stiffly. It sounded different from when she mentioned it before, like she actually was trying to mean it, like for once, empathy had won out over anger.

"Me too." Maggie rose up on her knees and put her hands on Ace's thighs. "Want to distract me from my species' impending doom for a little while?"

Ace gave her a narrow-eyed look, and then rolled her eyes. “Humans, the answer is always hedonism.”

Supergirl Femslash Ships & Fics Retrospective - Part 1

a) Overview

This is a multi-part retrospective. Part 1 includes an introduction and focuses on the TV show. b) The TV show: Plot & Development

Plot

Twenty-four-year-old Kara Zor-El, who was taken in by the Danvers family when she was 13 after being sent away from Krypton, must learn to embrace her powers after previously hiding them. The Danvers teach her to be careful with her powers, until she has to reveal them during an unexpected disaster, setting her on her journey of heroism.

(Apparently this was the official summary of the pilot episode - see Fanlore and Wikipedia.)

For 6 seasons Supergirl/Kara Danvers (together with a secret government organization and/or an ever-growing number of friends/vigilantes) fought the villain of the week or the current CW crossover event or Lex Luthor, while keeping her identity a secret, at least from Lena (for 3 seasons).

There is a bit more about the show's plot in the recommended episodes section below.

But honestly details of the canon plot is probably not why you are interested in Supergirl anyway. Because for most femslash fanfiction it is just a backstory that can (partially) be ignored anyway, just as the character's canon M/F dating live.

Changes & Development

The show changed a lot (including producers and actors) and was quite inconsistent across the seasons. There are only three main characters that appear during the whole run of the show: Kara, Alex and John.

The show was more or less rebooted after season 1 (when it changed networks) and the show's continuity was again rebooted to a larger degree in Mid-Season 5 with the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event of the Arrowverse.

c) Why should I care about Supergirl? And other Q&A

Why should I care about Supergirl?

The weakness of the plot and the strength of the characters might actually be one of the reasons why Supergirl turned out to be so popular with fanfiction writers. Because there are these wonderful characters and there is so much to fix.

And while there Is a lot of justified criticism of the show, there are some fun episodes and at least none of female main characters was killed.

The inconsistency of the plot and the lack of a strong canon story arc might in fact have been beneficial to create a perfect sandbox for femslash fanfic writers to play in.

It can be hard to fit in a diverging story into a strong story arc (without creating a full AU), but with all the reboots and changes, for Supergirl you can basically think about what story you want to tell, and then pick and choose story and background elements from the show that you want to use, which ones to ignore and pick a point in the timeline in which the story idea fits in nicely.

Is it worthwhile to watch (a bit) of Supergirl (TV 2015) in order to dive into femslash fanfiction? Yes, absolutely. And to be clear, it really is not necessary to watch the whole show. A few episodes might actually be enough. There will be some recommended episodes below (if you are interested).

I'm not that interested in femslash fanfiction. Should I watch the show? Probably not.

Is it a problem if I never read a Supergirl comic nor watched the 1984 movie? No. The only thing to note about the movie is that the actress who portrayed Supergirl in the movie plays Kara's adoptive mother in the TV show.

How much femslash fanfiction is there? There is a lot of fic. And if you are up for it, this retrospective will help you to dive in. At the time of writing (in late February 2022) there are about 31400 fics in the F/F category. About 17700 are tagged as Kara/Lena (Supercorp). Which means that there are still thousands of fics, even if you are not into Supercorp.

World building

Character creation: Alex Danvers, Astra In-Ze, Nia Nal and Kelly Olsen were originally created for the show.

Good chemistry between female characters (not just Kara and Lena)

Alex's coming out arc was done well

f) Suggested & noteworthy episodes

Here are a few episode you might want to watch. I picked them because they help to better get into fic, to understand the characters and motives better (and also because they are mostly enjoyable). Some episodes I have picked due to their overall impact on the show. And for characters, ships and story arcs you don't care about, you can (and should) fast forward.

1E01 Pilot & 1E02 Stronger Together

The first episodes are fun, Kara gets into being a superhero and in 1E02 Alex meets Astra for the first time.

1E06 Red Faced & 1E07 Human For A Day

We see angry Kara for the first time in "Red Faced" and after she blew out her powers we see Kara as "Human For A Day".

1E13 For The Girl Who Has Everything

This is an adaption of a classic Superman Comic (that was adapted before for the cartoon Justice League series). An excellent episode that provides a lot of background on Kara's character and Krypton. Also the Black Mercy is picked up in several great fanfics

1E16 Falling

Kara gets exposed to Red Kryptonite - RedK Kara is a pretty popular trope in Fanfic and this is the only time we see her on-screen.

At the end of season 2 Lucy leaves the show.

2E01 The Adventures of Supergirl

We get to see Superman and (more importantly) Lena for the first time.

2E03 Welcome to Earth

The iconic first meeting of Alex and Maggie and a classic Supercorp scene.

2E04 Survivors

Alex and Maggie work together to stop an illegal alien fighting ring run by Veronica Sinclair (Roulette). Lena knows Veronica because they "went to boarding school together".

This episode is also noteworthy because it features the only on-screen appearance of Jess (Lena's assistant).

Fanon/fic relevance: Until Sam or Andrea were introduced in later seasons, Veronica and Jess were often portrayed in fanfics as some of Lena's few friends and in case of Veronica also frequently as Lena's ex-girlfriend.

2E03-08 Alex/Maggie (Sanvers) arc

These episodes include Alex's coming out arc and Ales/Maggie getting together. If you are only interested in Savers and can find a supercut on Youtube, this might actually be the better option compared to watching all the episodes.

2E08 Medusa & 2E12 Luthors

In 2E08 we meet Lena's adoptive mother Lillian Luthor for the first time and in 2E12 we learn a lot about Lena's childhood and her backstory.

Both are iconic Supercorp episodes and the jumping off points for a lot of Supercorp fics.

3E01 Girl of Steel

Lena buys CatCo for Kara to save it from Morgan Edge. We meet Sam for the first time. Sam (Lena's ex-girlfriend old friend) is the new CFO of L-Corp and takes care of L-Corp while Lena takes care of CatCo.

3E05 Damage

Maggie and Alex break up (and Maggie leaves the show). Sam and Kara work together to clear Lena's name. It's fun to see them work together. This is one of the best episodes to see the chemistry of SuperReignCorp (Kara/Lena/Sam) and Kara/Sam on screen.

At the end of season 3 Sam leaves the show.

4E01 American Alien

We meet Nia for the first time

4E16 The House of L

We saw her briefly in prior episodes, but in this episode we are properly introduced to Red Daughter (AKA Linda Lee, Russian Kara, Kaznian Kara), who is an important character until the end of season 4.

4E15 O Brother, Where Art Thou

Meet Kelly

4E22 The Quest for Peace

The final episode of season 4 sees the end of Red Daughter and Lena shoots kills Lex "for Kara, for her friends". Before dying Lex reveals to Lena that Kara is Supergirl in an attempt to embitter her. Regrettably however, Lex will undie in season 5 (for plot reasons).

5E01 Event Horizon

Meet Andrea Rojas. A heartbroken Lena sells CatCo to her ex-girlfriend old friend Andrea. Kara gets a Pulitzer Prize, a new suit and regrettably also bangs (until the end of season 5).

A large part of season 5 is focused on the rift between Kara and Lena and the question if a bitter and heartbroken Lena will ultimately become a villain.

5E06 Confidence Women

We learn background and history of Andrea's and Lena's relationship and how it became strained.

5E09 Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part One

With the Crisis crossover event of the Arrowverse the shows continuity is rebooted again: Lex (and Luthorcorp) are back, nobody remembers that he is a villain and he owns the DEO.

At least Kara/Supergirl does not die, unlike in the original 1985 comic book version of Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Note: This is less of a recommendation to watch the episodes, but it is necessary to mention Crisis due to the major impact on the rest of the show. For Crisis to make sense, you probably need to watch all the Crisis episodes of the Arrowverse shows.

5E13 It's a Super Life

The 100th episode of the show features what-if stories. What if Kara had told Lena her secret at another point of time.

While the lessons the writers/the show draws from this episode make little sense (especially considering how the show ended), it is fun to see the different alternate realities. And we see Sam for one last time. (and meet Metallo!Lena)

Note: Not that the rest was spoiler free, but if you want to avoid spoilers how the show ended, skip the Season 6 summary

Season 6

Kara is mostly stuck in the Phantom Zone for the first half of the season. While she no longer has bangs, there is still something off with her look and her hair.

In season 6 Kara and Lena make up, everybody becomes a vigilante, for plot reasons Lena becomes a witch, and Alex and Kelly prepare to get married.

S6E20 Kara

In the final episode Alex and Kelly marry, Kara's and Lena's hairstyles are unfortunate (actually Lena's whole look), Andrea sells CatCo back to Cat. Kara becomes the editor-in-chief of CatCo and comes out to the world ... as Supergirl.

The CW moved on to the Superman show they probably always wanted to make.

Included ships/tags if the ship is one of the main ships in at least a few fics

Removed (nearly all) non-DC crossover ships (as out of scope)

Removed (nearly all) DC crossover ships (as out of scope)

Some editorial choices were made to keep the list manageable

As this was a mostly manual process (including reading dozens of fic summaries) there will probably be some mistakes.

d) Tips

Especially for rare pairs this AO3 tip is really helpful:

After you clicked on one of the AO3 ship tags, type "otp:true" in the "Search within results" box (under "More Options") and you will only see the fics in which your OTP is the main ship.

While this is often helpful, it is not a fix for all problems to filter fics that have several relationship tags. For example it is often not helpful for polyamorous ships as many authors tag fics with the ship A/B/C not only with A/B/C but (also) with A/B, B/C and A/C.

And remember to download your favorite fics, fics you want to read later and long fic that you are currently reading.

I can't believe how long I have worked (on and off) on the next part of the Supergirl Retrospective without finishing it. How did I manage to do so many fic recs in one year in the past??

It didn't help that for the next part there were a few fics that I had actual not read before but am reading now. That is of course enjoyable, but it does make me finish the next part any faster.

And then sadly I realized that I fic that I had written a rec for in one of my fic rec WIPs (for a later part of the retrospective) got deleted 😭

I am so happy I finally managed to complete and publish the 4th part of my Supergirl retrospective (Andrea). I hope it gets a few more notes. Please consider relogging it if you liked it, to spread the love for the ships and fics. Thanks to everybody who already did!

How about a quick BTS?

This part took too long (for a variety of reasons), and it also got too long, but as there is a relatively limited amount of fic for Andrea, I aimed to include a large part... (the good old completionist's curse) and I love all 5 ships.

I will not make another post as long as this one. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to do it but from now on I will not repeat fics and ships fully but refer to the part of the retrospective in which I already covered it (not possible so far because unsurprisingly there was no overlap between Astra and Andrea).

Thus, in the part covering Sam, I will not fully repeat Andrea/Sam fics, but link to part 4 Andrea. That should help to keep the following parts manageable. Also considering that Sam, Kara and Lena have more ships than Andrea.

Speaking of Sam, the next part of the retrospective will be about Sam Arias.

After that I am not sure yet. Maybe I'll do a poll / ask you guys which one you want to see next.

What I know is, that I plan to do a separate part only dedicated to SuperCorp, because otherwise it will overwhelm the parts about Lena and Kara. And maybe this will also make it interesting for people who only ship SuperCorp.

On the show Astra only appears in season 1, in which the was one of the main antagonists. Astra is an original character created for the show, who did not appear in DC comics before.

This was the first pair I shipped in Supergirl and the one that made me fall in love with the show and the fandom.

When I watched the first scene Alex and Astra had together I thought wow, this is kinda gay and a lot of subtest. I wonder if they will ever do anything with it. Of course, they didn't.

Great Sansa Stark/Margaery Tyrell (Sansaery) fic

Sansa gets tested on her 18th birthday. She is matched with Margaery but is in denial that she might be gay.

I loved this soulmate take. They don't just meet and fall in love, but eventually there is a happy ending. Highly recommended.

a) A quick introduction to Andrea

Andrea Rojas joined Supergirl in Season 5, when (a heartbroken) Lean, who felt betrayed by Kara, sold CatCo Media on to her friend Andrea, who is also the CEO of Obsidian Tech.

Andrea has a secret identity and powers as Acrata and appeared in several DC comics and shows before, but her backstory and character were heavily tweaked for the Supergirl TV show.

While at first it seemed that Andrea was just another shitty boss for Kara at CatCo, she turned out to be a fascinating character with a lot of shipping potential.

I read somewhere that Andre was so high maintenance that she might as well be a Maserati and obviously this is the car she drives in several of the stories.

There are 74 to 129 F/F fic in the collection.

If you just set the include filter to F/F you get 129, but this includes some fics in which the F/F ship is the background/side ship to a main ship which is M/M or M/F.

If you set the filters to include F/F and exclude M/M and M/F the number is 74 (but this might exclude fics in which the main ship is F/F ...)

This has bigger impact in some fandoms (such as Harry Potter) and less in others.

Plans / What am I working on

Supergirl

I want to do something for the end of the show. To celebrate the characters, the femslash ships and fics that I love. My current (tentative) plan is to do a multi part (multiship) Supergirl ships and fics retrospective (and I have started to work on this). If things go well, at least some of it will be done before the last episode has aired.

If there is anything in particular you would like me to include (a ship, a fic, a themes, etc), write a comment below, send me an ask or a DM.
