i do appreciate getting an aspect of thanatos for zorophet don't get me wrong but. isn't the whole thing with the nocturnal arms that they're only to be used in times of great peril? nemesis literally talks about how she's bummed that she wasn't chosen to wield them/that they didn't reveal themselves to her sooner. what was Thanatos doing with zorophet then as his everyday scythe???
#considering the fact that the aspects are supposed to be that xyz person wielded them at one point#which is why characters like eris and nemesis have picked up the infernal arms again#is it just because hes mommys specialest boy??#supergiant i have questions#hades 2#hades 2 spoilers

Hades II Questions:
(Bear in mind I got immediately murdered upon entering the second level/realm/area so I know nothing)
What happened to our best boi Cerberus???
Is Hypnos okay? Is he napping like just catching up or was he injured/locked away in sleep??? Slight spoiler: in the flashback he was also sleeping so has he ever been awake as long as Melinoe can remember???
Where is Dusa?!!? Did she get out okay?
Completely not relevant to anything do you think the broker and the chef from the first game are platonic besties or were enemies to lovers fighting over who is Hades’ favourite??
Do you think we could see Rhea, Kronos’ wife and mother of many Olympians, in the story???
What the fuck are the doors/wards blocking??? Ones says it’s blocking upstairs and there were talks about going to Olympus so maybe that’s one????
Not a question but I want Achilles and Patroclus to meet Odysseus. I don’t know if they jump him or are just incredible snarky but I want to see it
Are Thanatos and Meg doing Hades runs but the opposite way? Like going from Tartarus trying to get into the house of Hades cause damn it Kronos that’s our dumbass, and also our boss and boss 2, give them back!!
Do the Silver Sisters ever get to be on screen together just to hanging out? Like I know there will be a boon duo at some point but I just wanna see them catching up. I’ll take a flashback but I want to girls to just be chilling with their emotional support birds, frog and horse
#I will have more questions last we but fuck it’s nearly 3 am and I have work fuck#okay but seriously the broker and chef had to have had something#you don’t work that close for years with the employe of the [insert time] right there without some intense emotion#platonic or romantic#hades theory#hades artemis#hades melinoe#hades game#hades 2#hades ii#hades supergiant#hypnos hades#hades zagreus#zagreus#hades megaera#hades thanatos#Hades dusa#melinoe#lostcoffeeposts#lostcoffeepost

Like everyone else I have a Hades 2 brainrot (let me in the Early Acces, LET ME IN-).
And while I know this WILL be a great sequel from a gameplay perspective, I wonder how the story will unfold in the end.
One thing I really loved about Hades that the game is about hope and mending broken relationships. In a game which is literally set in the Underworld with the catch phrase "There is no escape", it could have been easily grim dark. Instead the biggest driving force is hope and change in the game.
Hades 2 already has higher stakes. The Underworld has been taken over by Kronos, with the fate of Hades, Persephone and Zagreaus being left vague. Melinoe never knew her family but she wants to save them and kill Kronos for that he has done.
And I'm kind anxious to see how this game will resolve the conflict. Because this is still a rogue-like which mean we will have to kill Chronos so many times. He is the Titan of Time after all.
The question is how you can tie it in a story up which doesn't end up depressing?
At least I'm attached to the characters of the previous game and want them to have their happy ending and give Melinoe the option to met her family, a thing Zagreus fought so hard in the first game.
Good thing Supergiant Games is very good in that they are doing. I'm only hoping this also turns out to be a story about hope and renewal as well.
#hades 2#hades#hades the game#the question how they will tie the story to justice the gameplay loop has plague me since the release trailer#like I know supergiant games will find a way#but I also hope it will continue to be a story about hope#and we can't know if they want to keep that same message in the sequel#at the same time... I think they will find a way#hell even transistor there in the end Red uses the transistor on herself#it is framed as a good thing because in this way she is reunited with Mr. Nobody#instead staying in an empty city where literally everyone died#so I have hopes but I'm still anxious how it will turn out

A while ago I came up with my own character for Hades, and these were my first exploratory sketches.
Initially he was meant to literally be the sylvan god Pan, but I later decided that I preferred them being just some guy.
Since he's kind of a self-insert (I liked imagining myself as them when playing), they use a bow (my fave) and keep dying whenever they get too cocky exploring Elysium.
#satyr veren#i've been drawing him again a lot so and i want to share this lil guy with who may be interested#i don't have a name for them yet#so... suggestion box open#satyr#satyr oc#hades game#hades supergiant#hades fanart#fanart#traditional art#my art#eeriedragone art#original character#please ask me questions about them it 2ould mame me very happy#*begs*

based solely on chaos’ design floating around on the internet, i have a theory.
that’s maegara’s body. chaos is literally possessing maegara’s body. (that is maegara’s one bat wing.)
that is chaos’ old design being held in maegara’s hand. it’d be one thing if it looked more like, i don’t know, a snakeskin? like something chaos had naturally shed and sloughed off? but instead it looks like someone (probably chronos) ripped out chaos’ head and spinal cord in battle. and i think that makes sense, that the two of them would have squared off. chaos is not like the fates. they loved nyx, they would have left their realm and fought for nyx directly.
the living fetus trailing out of the head’s mouth tells me this kind of injury is something chaos can naturally, eventually, regenerate from. but in the meanwhile, recovery on their own means being vulnerable. a primordial entity in the shape of a fetus is still a fetus. in the meantime, chaos would need a new body, a temporary vessel they’d be capable of defending themself with.
the only question is if maegara volunteered for this.
but i think she might have.
if this still sounds bonkers, consider it doylistically. chaos’ original design was unique and striking. do you honestly think supergiant would just throw away an excellent character design like that for nothing? for no story related reasons at all?
so my prediction is this: one of melinoe’s quests will involve helping restore (or speed up the restoration of) chaos’ body (which will then free maegara).
#hades 2#hades 2 spoilers#pizzazz meta#edit: im serious about ‘having only seen this design floating around’#i haven’t gotten the chance to play this game yet and tumblr won’t let me mute this post#please refrain from adding spoilers to this post

God I have so much to say about Melinoe's characterization, and the fasinating implications about her future arc/the overarching plot of hades 2. I want to make a larger think piece with pictures but for the moment I'm just going to focus on this one specific thread.
In the wake of the Prometheus reveal, she has a slew of convos about his motivations for siding with Chronos, and the gods basically all go: this is his vengeance for us punishing him a tad cruelly. And Nemesis is like, yeah the gods 100% deserve it. But Meli's responds that he must have more motivation than just vengeance, it can't just be that. But when Prometheus explicitly goes, 'I'm doing this because the gods are horrible to humanity and I love humans,' she basically goes, no he must be lying. That motivation is both too pure, but also humans kind of suck why would you care about them?
Mel's humanity hot takes deserve it's own essay (Ms I think Humans should have never gotten fire and are better when they are dead), and I just want to focus on the former for now. She can not comprehend that Prometheus is fighting the gods for noble reasons. It just does not make sense to her. Mel's world is so black and white. She doesn't understand the nuance of the situation, and the thought that the gods might be actually in the wrong doesn't even get close to crossing her mind.
It's a fascinating (and horrifying) result of her upbringing. Of the constant state of war and the very convenient big bad that is Chronos, the evil monster who stole her family. If she accepts that his side isn't completely evil, that they might even be right in some (even many) respects, she would have to grapple with her whole life. Everything she believes would be thrown into question, the literal thing she was training her whole life for.
She can't have Prometheus fighting for a noble cause, because he fights for Chronos whose the Bad Guy tm. But he also can't be fighting for something as simple as vengeance, because that would also mean she would need to really think about what he's angry about. If the punishment was truly so unnecessary cruel.
When talking to Odysseus about Prometheus, when Ody's saying how much he respected him for stealing the fire despite knowing the consequences, Mel says that it was the price to be paid for breaking Olympus's decree. To her, Olympus's rules are sacred and ultimately good. Unquestionably. Prometheus broke the rules with intent, so to her, why would he be so angry at the consequences? Especially if he knew because of his power they were going to happen.
So he must have another reason, some secret machiavellian plan that drives him. Except as I already said, it brings her right back to him doing it for humanity, which she also can't accept. Because that would be admiting that the gods did something wrong to humans. She twists herself into knots to justify her worldview, and it's fascinating! She's so messy I adore her.
Please Supergiant please the final surface boss has to be a human pleeeaaasse (preferably a living one). Or at least have one (or more) show up in some other capacity. Mel needs to come face to face with the other side and have it utterly destroy her worldview.
And/or have (Pan)Dora betray her for Prometheus, that would also be very fun haha.
#hades 2#hades 2 spoilers#hades game#melinoe#Prometheus#hades#she just! tears into her#this girl can fit so much isolated child soldier trauma in her#with a dash of autism and being one of the ruling class to really have it blow up#i adore how messed up she is!#how everything that breaks her simple worldview she either brushes aside the importance of it#or just totally ignores it#ill admit while ive always liked her#i did prefer Zag as a protagonist#but now i think if supergiant pulls this off and gives her the character arc she deserves#im going to prefer her#shes just so flawed and blah ive gone on long enough haha

Possible Hades II Romances
Sorted by how likely I think they are to make it into the game. Based on initial Early Access release.
Icarus 100% going to be a romance. No question.
Eris Eris is obsessed with Melinoë. Following her around, the nicknames, the codex entry, the later lines where she actually shows vulnerability. Getting through to her and understanding her issues is going to be a central story arc and I'm almost positive there will be a romance option at the end of it. Also Zag/Meg has established "fighting to the death" as a love language.
Arachne This is going to be a romance but it might not be an endgame romance. We already have the "heart wants what it wants" scenes, but I think her arc is going to be about curing her curse and after that it's 50/50 if Melinoë can kiss her or they're going to pull a "I've been through a big change and I'm not ready for a romance right now" card on us.
Moros and Nemesis They are such bait. I think it comes down to if this game lets you go poly and date everyone or if specific romances will lock you out of others. Supergiant is real squeamish about incest for a studio that chose to use Greek mythology and I don't think you will be able to kiss multiple Nyx kids at once.
Dora She's the funny character like Hypnos last game and so many people wanted to romance Hypnos. Maybe they will throw us a bone.
Hypnos Or just give the people what they want. Hampered by my suspicion waking him isn't going to happen until endgame.
Odysseus Sorry man but 0% chance. They had Mel uncle-zone him. He is for the player's viewing pleasure only.
Artemis Also zero. Cousin who calls you "sister," see above about the incest squeamishness. I'd fold all the other Olympic gods in here as well.
Everyone else is an extreme longshot. If the game follows the first one's pattern and you can end up with one boy and one girl I'm thinking it's Icarus and Eris. Melinoë has a thing for the winged ones. Also one mortal and one god would be thematic. But I'm expecting they will do something different and committing to a romance will cancel out the competing ones. There's just too many siblings floating around.
Eager to know how everyone else is feeling so far.

Blood Sport
Feyd Rautha x Y/N - drabble part 1 - 1K WC
Part 1 (you are here!)
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6 NSFW 18+
Masterlist
Warnings: royalty y/n, space vampires (kinda?), if you speak Latin you might know some of these words, feyd being feyd, feyd realizing you are a bad bitch, probably some other shit I should mention but honestly this one is setting the stage, its the following fics that'll need warnings lol
-------------------------------
Your eyes were black. It was the first thing about you that Feyd noticed. Pitch black scleras with blood red irises that seemed to glow softly. You were draped in black with different shades of red peaking throughout your dress. Yet your eyes are what captured Feyd the most. Not the long, sharp nails. Not the jars of blood your maids were taking to your quarters. Not the fact that almost everything you were wearing could become an improvised weapon. No, your sharp eyes that were unreadable to him are what drew him closer to you. You kept your head high, unyielding to his imposing presence. Neither of you did anything but stare at one another, trying to analyze what you could from one another.
“The only child of House Cruor, Princess Y/N.” said the Baron from the throne in the Great Hall.
You and Feyd kept watching each other, poised like snakes ready to strike.
-------------------------------
“And why should I wed some priss of a princess?” Fedy spat as he looked on at the Baron, submerged in his black sludge bath.
“You are of age and Geidi Prime needs an heir. You are the only one who can give us an heir.” he answered as he smoked out of his pipe.
“What about Rabban?” Feyd said, gesturing to his brother.
“Because I’m going to make you Emperor. And the future Emperor needs an heir.” the Baron said, dismissing his eldest nephew. “He embarrassed this house. You need to restore House Harkonnen to its full glory. Full fear. So you will marry and you will do so without quarrel.” the Baron said without room for further question.
Feyd sighed. He shouldn’t be complaining, he really shouldn’t. Emperor - he could be the most powerful man in the Emperium. And whoever he would be married to would be Empress and would fill their days with something or the other. He would never have to see you if he were the Emperor. “Fine… find me a wife worthy of being my Empress.” Feyd said to him before walking away.
And oh did he. The Baron only sought out the most savage houses. Honorable but bloodthirsty just like the Harkonnens. He has to find someone Feyd couldn’t break. And so, he found you. The sole heir to House Cruor. A planet shrouded in darkness with only a red supergiant star bathing their planet in ominous red light. House Cruor was brutal. Their battle strategies, their fearlessness, their desire for power. It was a match made in hell. Even better, House Cruor were the last of the Sanguines; a powerful race that had once practiced blood magic. Their ways were unknown to the universe, similar to the Bene Gesserit, but they were incredibly strong, incredibly alluring, and incredibly ruthless. The Baron chose well.
--------------------------------
Feyd’s hand twitched, going to move some hair from your face. You instantly had the ruffles of your long sleeve drawn together and pointed at his throat, your fingernails coming up to defend yourself further. The sharp ends of each ruffle coming together made for several tiny daggers pointed at him, and your nails were more like claws. He retracted his hand slowly, once it was back at his side you retracted your dress and nails as well.
“This is who you picked for me?” Feyd asked, looking at the Baron and the Reverend Mother, “She can’t even talk.” He said looking at you, unimpressed.
“SPEAK.” Reverend Mother ordered you, using the Voice.
You smiled coldly at her after a moment of deafening silence. Feyd’s breath caught in his throat, he had never seen someone be unaffected by the Voice.
“She’s some kind of monster…” you heard one of the maids whisper from the corner of the room.
Your hand shot out moving in strange, hypnotic ways. The maid had no control over herself, she walked to stand in front of you before you forced her to her knees. The blood magic Feyd had read up on briefly before you arrived, could this be it? You kept your hand down, your powers gripped every molecule of her blood, bending her to your will.
“A monster? If I am a monster I would speak more softly. Monsters are dangerous. Ill tempered.” you said before raising her up so her feet hovered just above the cold stone floor.
The maids eyes held fear, tears streaming down her face as she waited for you to do something. For the first time, Feyd saw a brief smile grace your lips. Two fangs; a much desired Sanguine feature that had faded from the genetic line slowly. Yet you were graciously bestowed with them. Your smile faded before you tossed the girl to the side dismissively. You turned your attention back to Feyd who was looking at you with a heated gaze. A hungry one.
“She can talk. When she wants to.” you said to him with venom in your tone.
All Feyd did was smirk. You weren’t weak like he expected. He was going to have so much fun figuring out how you worked. You bowed your head to the Baron and a still stunned Reverend Mother. You were already proving difficult to control. They both needed you on their side, yet Feyd wanted you on his. You moved to leave the Great Hall, all the sharp metal bits of your gown dragged along the stone floor. Your maids followed behind you swiftly.
“Already holding knives to you… this will be a prosperous marriage indeed.” chuckled the Baron as he looked at Feyd.
Feyd’s eyes remained on the corridor, watching your frame get smaller and smaller as you walked away.

COMMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN!
Hello, everyone! My circumstances are getting a little bit more complicated and it's been fairly tricky to find a job over the past year (aaand it's only going to get worse...), so it's time for me to fully, officially, reopen commissions. Some prices have increased since the last time I did this, mainly in the hopes that this reflects my improving skills a little better. Some options are quite costly (particularly the animations and comics) because they demand a ton more work than one might expect. Terms are also more strict than they used to be in order to ensure a more professional dynamic between myself and anyone who commissions me.
Send me a DM if you have a commission in mind, but first, make sure to read through the Read More. I want to expand on what's stated in the final picture to ensure better clarity on the terms of my services:
I'm open to working with any fandom or OC, be it one I'm familiar with or not. I'm also open to working with crossovers, as well as making book/fic/album covers, and even drawing real people as characters of a fandom of the commissioner's choice.
I am open to drawing ship/romance content but, tied directly to the next point...
I reserve the right to refuse any commissions that make me uncomfortable in any given way. This does not mean that everything besides my OTPs and the headcanons I support is guaranteed to be rejected, but it does mean that, if the behavior of the commissioner or the specific subject of the commission does not sit well with me, for any given reason, I will decline the commission. I won't work on something that squicks me, nor with someone who displeases me. No artist should.
Animals, mythological creatures, gore and +18 requests are fundamentally valid but must be discussed thoroughly first. None of these areas are my forte as an artist, as much as I've dabbled in them here and there, so, in order to get it right, I may need extra time and I will most likely modify the base price for any requests that includes these elements.
Payments will be done through PayPal or Wise. The final, full-resolution piece will not be delivered until full payment is completed. Half payment is expected at the start of the process, the second half at the end. The client is entitled to two revisions of the art process to ensure expectations are met. If a piece does not match your expectations after the revisions, the commission will be considered cancelled and you won't need to pay the second half of the expense. Any commissioner who wishes to pay upfront from the get-go does so at their own risk. Revisions are always included, but there will be no refunds if the final piece is not up to the commissioner's standards.
The commissioner is allowed to publish and share the commissioned work across social media, provided it follows the rules of each site (as in, don't post any +18 artworks on sites that do not allow it, pretty much). I can offer basic Glaze and Nightshade in order to protect the artwork from AI theft, to no added expense. Credit MUST be given to me as the artist whenever commissioned pieces are posted elsewhere.
For anyone who wants a list of fandoms I'm better acquainted with:
Avatar: the Last Airbender
Legend of Korra
Bleach
Digimon
Code Geass
Inuyasha
Dragon Ball
The Mentalist
The Dragon Prince
Disney
My Hero Academia
Dragon Age
Hades (Supergiant)
Cowboy Bebop
Hollow Knight
Star Wars
Ghibli Films
Overwatch
Full Metal Panic
Artemis Fowl
LOTR
Farscape
Haikyuu
Fullmetal Alchemist
Naruto
Stranger Things
Spy X Family
Kaguya-sama
Chronicles of Ancient Darkness
Eragon
Thor
Harry Potter
Free!
ASOIAF
Shaman King
K-ON
Critical Role/Legend of Vox Machina
Dungeons and Dragons
Blue Eye Samurai
Arcane
Castlevania
Again, any fandom, character or OC is valid, but I'm far more likely to know what I'm doing and to have my own opinions, for better or for worse, when it comes to anything on this list.
If there are any further questions, feel free to DM me and we'll sort them out!
Thanks for reading so far, and I look forward to working with you!
#commissions open#art commissions#commission sheet#OC commissions#fanart commissions#commission info#ngl I don't even know what to tag I haven't done this in so long#I do feel like I've racked up enough EXP points lately to expand possibilities in commission work#but this is nonetheless a little daunting#how does one shake off impostor syndrome when it comes to pricing your own art#asking for a friend#anyway to everyone who ever cared about me or my art#I'd appreciate reblogs#because the wider the reach the better luck I'll have I hope#pretty please thank you I kind of may need this to get through life not even joking

Some fanart I did for my own fic! Not all that proud of how it came out (i.e. Charon's wonky ass oar lmao), but honestly not too perturbed :D (also click for better quality if you want!!)
Anyway the fic in question is linked under the cut if anyone's interested :]
Important to note that it has some nsft (very suggestive) elements! (Which is why it is under the cut in the first place, so please be wary, and don't interact if you're a minor!)
From Hip to Thigh
Ongoing/Mature/5,623 words
Dreams/Suggestive Themes/Insecurity/Charon POV
Summary:
His second dream was not like the first. All of it becoming more and more like how Hermes described the phenomenon.
A mash of colors and experience.
Of visual and sound.
He thinks he must have seen Hypnos and Thanatos in this dream, maybe his mother too. Shapes of what they might look like. Incomprehensible figures.
And there was something glowing among the mess. Something so familiar, drawing Charon to it, calling for him in that siren-like voice.
But before he could reach and touch it, the glow dissipated, and he would wake to the underworld around him.
or
Charon dreams continuously for the first time in a long time. Hermes seems to make an appearance in a number of them.

My personal feelings on people headcanoning the Hollow Knight world as small is that it always feels uncomfortably like looking at a world where there are no humans and immediately deciding we'd have to be overpowered supergiants that are being worshipped more than the actual gods.
I've seen it paired with takes that PK or even Radiance would be helpless before a god, when Radiance in particular is, you know, a god of dreams shown to be able to affect or press on just about anything with a mind to the point that other deities were scared of her, and even if she was the size of a soccer ball she'd pose a significant threat to an ordinary person.
Ruka's point about the nails being obviously in-name-only, that the scavenged weapons are scavenged from the corpses of larger creatures and not from any evidence of a bigger creature civilization also grates on me because not only is it literally a plot point in strengthening your weapon that the nailsmith works raw ore, nail weaponry is obviously a sophisticated technology with cultural and practical variations in how they're made... but it feels lavishly patronizing to look at a character like the Nailsmith who is very explicitly being driven by a single-minded obsession to make the perfect weapon, and insist he has to just be stealing thumbtacks from humanity, that he can't possibly compete with.
Like I'm in neither the position nor the desire to run around other people's blogs screaming at them until they Forsake Their Ideas, people think what they will think, but I think it's important to ask questions of, why do we believe what we believe? The idea that the HK bugs are tiny seems to come inextricably paired with the notion they are subordinate to humans, which there's no existence of humanity in HK. We don't even see evidence of mammals. Some bugs mostly resemble earth wildlife, but others? The God Tamer's beast was a lobster in its original concepts.
#Hollow Knight#maybe I'm just salty because of one youtube theorist that decided the cool way to open an HK video#was to do a bit of him spraying raid on the main characters to kill them instantly#because har har remember bugs are an infestation to a world that belongs to humans right#what do you mean Hornet's a demigod and Ghost is a weird undead fantasy being#we won't engage with fantasy unless it affirms us as the most powerful being ever apparently??

I played Hades II a fair bit yesterday during my breaks and free time for Supergiant Games' technical test of the game. Part of me wants to keep playing today, but I got stuff to do and I do want to keep up the excitement for the early access. I wrote a rough, kind of unedited essay about it before I went to sleep last night though below, mostly for me to have record of my memories in written form. Some spoiler-y screenshots and random thoughts/analyses below if you want to read more. I mean it--there are spoilers and the most random long tangents because I like to analyze. (I do recommend playing first if you have a chance to)
First thing I'll say is that the game is pretty phenomenal and so damn fun. The experience reminds me of when I played Hades for the first time in their initial Early Access of the game years ago. Longtime Supergiant Games fan here (since Transistor release)! I remember running into a bug then and reporting it when I froze in-game, but I have not run into any noticeable bugs at all yet for Hades II. I've done some reports for minor bugs, but extremely minor ones that I actually feel bad for even reporting and adding to their list of messages to go through. Supergiant has their QA down, truly. I have so much respect for them and how they've developed the game. Darren Korb did an amazing job on the music again. It has that iconic Hades sound with the strings (that is not a guitar, I forget what it's called) while also being its own distinct soundtrack.
The 4th wall banter moments between Melinoë and Homer (who is revealed as narrator!) have been one of my favorite things about the story/narration execution. Her being cognizant of Homer does make it so there are rather funny moments, but also brings up the question of how that might shape the narrative later on. I'm so curious!
When I first started the game, I had a funny moment where I died almost instantly in the second room because I was testing out Melinoe's skillset and ran out of MP (?) and then got slapped because I wasn't actually doing damage when trying to use her bigger skills, heh. It did take me some time to get used to it, but Mel's skills and cast abilities are so much fun to use when utilized well. Her cast and its ability to hold your enemies for a time is one of the best upgrades to combat, in my opinion. For all I love the first Hades, I remember having to dash like crazy to escape exploding carts coming after me if I didn't have a good boon to mitigate or avoid that. With the cast for Melinoë, it'll change that to placing strategically some casts that can hold quick enemies or enemies that are very dangerous if they get close to you (wailers in this game are one such enemy). In terms of boons, Demeter's, Hestia's, and Apollo's have been some of my favorites. Aphrodite also has a phenomenal one for casts that will gather your enemies into your cast, making it an ideal combination with some devastating other boons that can easily damage groups of enemies all at once. Hephaestus also has a pretty fun one where I think he can explode in a certain proximity with your special or attack, I forget. I do wonder if they'll have to rebalance some of these boons because there are certain ones I can annihilate enemies with--but then again, maybe that is needed for later sections of the game.
The numerous references to the moon in the game are a nice nod to Melinoë's lore in Greek mythology and poetry too. Though she's more associated with being a goddess of ghosts (I find it a nice touch you can salute shades you meet in the Crossroads because of this) and nightmares (I don't think it's a coincidence Hypnos is the only other survivor of Hades' inner sanctum), Melinoë has at some point been referenced as a moon goddess as well of the underworld. Selene is the moon goddess and Artemis has also become known as a goddess of the moon in mythology in addition to being the goddess of the hunt. So that connection between the three and the friendship they share in the game is pretty cool in that regard (Selene calls you the "Silver Sisters.")
Having Artemis become your friend in Hades II, something akin to a friendly rivalry like Thanatos was to Zagreus, is such a fun story--and then you have Selene added into that mix as well. From the few runs I've done, I've gathered that Artemis and Hermes are the first of the Olympus gods who knew of Melinoë's existence in her youth as Hecate's pupil. She helped Hecate hide the truth of Melinoës survival (at least from the Olympus gods)--and when Melinoë was ready, it was only then that Artemis leaked through Apollo that Hades' daughter was coming to fight Chronos and had survived the fall of Hades. So the boons you get are because the twins, Artemis and Apollo, played a role in connecting you to Olympus for the fight against Chronos. There seems to be more in this background that I'm curious to learn about. Just from their banter, it's clear Artemis has spent much time with Melinoë and Selene in some form. I don't know if they have duo boons in this game (or boon-hex? Selene gives you a hex), but I'm curious to see what these two's duo boon(s) would be if they have them.
The game also does that thing the first game did so well of shifting the world as you progress and have changes in the relationships about you. Nemesis is one of the new characters in Hades II who doesn't seem to like you very much initially, but with your dialogue with Odysseus nearby, you get the sense that it wasn't always this way. When you gift her a nectar, Melinoë subtly starts calling her "Nem," and you can tell the two of them are very slowly mending whatever it is they have (Odysseus chuckles nearby probably seeing the progress). You also meet Doom Incarnate (Moros) and have to unlock having him at the Crossroads by invoking him, which is also pretty fun in terms of letting you slowly do more runs and experience the world more in order to gather enough "resources" to call him. It allows a natural progression of characterization and getting to know the people around Melinoë, in my opinion.
Dora's also one of my favorite character already. There's something so funny about Melinoë encouraging Dora as she tries to scare and haunt her as a proper ghost, but then also rather touching that she just accepts that Dora just likes to hang out in her room and not go out much. I love Arachne too, and how she's just chillin' like, I'm bored and alone and just spinning webs, so here Melinoë, have some clothes I made.
This game makes me love it as much as I loved the first one. In some ways, in terms of how they executed establishing background and connections between Melinoë and her companions (Odysseus' calls her a "little goddess" as a child! Hecate plays hide-and-go-seek with her!), I think they've started out much stronger than they did in the first game. And this one already starts with a sort of high-stakes situation from the get-go. Melinoë's entire family has been taken by Chronos and she grew up apart from them. The game does well of letting you step into the world even if you haven't played the first one--and playing on your affection for Hades, Persephone, and Zagreus if you did. After all, considering how hard you worked as Zagreus to bring back together that family in the first game, the second game logically comes back with a vengeance with Melinoë at the loss of such a family and a need for vengeance against Chronos for ruining it. The world feels familiar, yet the cast of characters are so different.
And the designs of all the new gods! And the new designs for the old gods! They're all extremely well-done. I've been a longtime fan of the artists for the characters and the environments. They've done stellar jobs on it again for this one, and there's more touches to icons and designs of the UI I like too. The dialogue log is one of my favorite things too, as someone who might miss a piece of dialogue here and there when I take off my headphones. The voice acting in this game is also a whole notch up from the previous game. Not to knock anyone from the first Hades, since I think they did a great job, but I do feel like the voices have been more professionally recorded this time around. Or something about it is a little more polished. Kudos to Supergiant for another game that's an A+ in my book thus far. Ahh!
I could keep going, but honestly, I think it's best to have people experience the game in Early Access. I mostly just wanted a record for myself to look back on for being a small part of Hades II's journey and share some of my excitement and the random analyses I had. It'll be fun for me to look back on how I read some things and how I felt when the finished version of the game comes out eventually.

Artist: You are in support of thievery. AI is thievery, no matter how you twist it.
Me: I see your Subscribestar is making between 6 and 27 grand a month and you had an exclusive art pack last month with characters from Nintendo and a few indie developers. I'm assuming you asked permission to make thousands of dollars off of those characters from the developers of those games?
Artist: You're a fucking idiot.
Me: I am, but that doesn't answer my question. I see you're working on a Hades 2 pack for your Subscribestar. Is that officially endorsed by Supergiant Games? You got a sponsor deal to draw their characters getting fucked by huge cocks? Are they getting part of your thousands you're making off that or are they okay with you keeping all of it?
Artist: I'm not doing this I'm just blocking you.
---
You all have no idea how badly I wanna namedrop this guy.
This is "Respected artists" everyone.
This is what the big artists are like.
They'll go on a warpath to attack people using AI as though they're thieves, and then turn around and make 5 figures off drawing a copyrighted character without giving any royalties to the owning company of that character.
They will gladly steal intellectual patents, use Adblockers, pirate movies, pirate shows, pirate games, but will still call people using AI thieves.
The fucking hypocrisy is just overwhelming. And when called out on it they just hit block and then go smear the name of the person who called them out so they can have backup if the callout-person ever goes public with it.
