late night, tonight.

i was out super late after this very bad poetry reading here for some of these creative writing majors. i don't have a lot to say about it, it was bad and the writers make some people close to me miserable because they fail at being kind basically. kind in a real way, the kindness that lets you have some give for meanness when you actually articulate/show effort put towards anyone else, people who are utterly shallow, you know. i believe it must be the case that we all know of people like that essentially.

i didn't get to work on music today really, that's kind of good, tomorrow i will try to write some stuff, i did work on music actually i guess, i wrote a riff, and i'll see where that can take me, or less writing the riff, i wrote some chords to mess with. a fun shape that has a good sound, disso and freaky when inverted.

anyways tonight was good, or like, half good. it's given me a lot to think about, with people who do certain things (like 'ethical' nonmonogamy and if that can exist when the presupposition is monogamy in the first place). i met new people who i like, who are really nice and fun to be around, who got drunk and told me dirt about some old people i knew. or really, one person. that doofus from the noise band, actually. i don't mind saying that. i won't discuss the dirt. it just kind of makes me feel something sad, about people like that, and i guess at large people who in some sense resemble the poets, shallow engagement and deeply troubled ideas of what being an artist means leading to difficult lives, miseries that begin loud and only grow quieter, never actually dissipating.

my gf really wanted to take me to this, the reading and the afterparty, she and a friend really wanted to hear my thoughts on these people because supposedly i'm very funny about that kind of thing, she forgot i guess the bore of the poetry, and the fact that as time goes on, the ruin of these lives is exposed more and more, rich (really i don't actually know, it's the impression i get) developing bad habits and using people, and the drama, while never uninteresting to someone like me (maybe it makes me evil to want to hear), is always sad.

sometimes i am like a child and i just wish everyone could be okay and fine, i'd sometimes light myself on fire to make that possible, but someone i used to be obsessed with told me that me wanting to be jesus or buddha (he said both) so bad wouldn't do anything for anyone except feed how badly i like to see myself hurt. he's right. i guess that's what knowing things does too.

maybe my whole life i'm just going to be hurting myself in new ways.

so i made 3 new friends, or 4, let me count, yeah, 4, i think. and i actually saw 2 friends i knew before tonight, and i was with my one girl friend. so 7 people, i'm gonna see some tomorrow at a gay bar to see a drag show, super exciting stuff. hopefully there won't be any pangs of sadness over the fact we are living in hell sort of.

i guess everybody has really unpleasant fascinations sometimes.

one conversation tonight, one of the new friends told me about her research topic, modern apocalyptic media and its convergence with evangelical christianity, just talking about all that stuff and its evolving state, the dwindling numbers of evangelicals and their panic, her past, and stuff. i liked that. i liked all of tonight, even the sadder parts.

i'm listening to the song theory on sex as an art form, by camera obscura, on repeat. a really great track, it's just so perfect, i love the synth-y punky part especially, but i guess it's also perfect next to a perfect melodic release, this movement that recalls something tumbling downhill, or leaves off petals, while the first part is this total mania.

anyways i am exhausted now, and tomorrow is another day of socializing and stuff.

had an awful thought, or not awful, i dunno. someone posted the song absent friend by bark psychosis, a song that takes me to two specific moments in my life. one was when i'd listen to this song, thinking about the man i loved who would disappear without a word because he was awful, and i'd lay in bed without anyone to talk to, and the second place, is years later, when a friend who loved this record to bits, killed himself, and the song was so pointed, it felt like it said something. the night i found out i walked around and listened to this song.

both times, the lyric "that's the biggest joke of all" took on pretty different meanings. right now it means something else i guess.

the awful thought was about my dead friend rather than the friend who is dead to me. my dead friend, the thought was: the most meaningful thing he'd ever do for himself was kill his own self, that's where all the force of his life would end up, and missing him, and not wanting to forget him and wanting other people to know him, all i am left being able to do is revive the corpse he made of himself and tell others, this is what he did, this is his monument and it's an awful one but it is his. i don't know what else to say about it, i'm staving off the wish to tell a stranger in a server about him because they posted this song, all i can say is i guess, beautiful song, one of the best ever, and they won't know how much i mean that. maybe i mean it less because it means such particular things to me, and rather than thinking it's the best song ever, it's just clusters of memory and feeling forever tied to it. whatever, though, that's fine.

After living with and listening to the xikers debut album for a few weeks, I have a lot of thoughts about it actually!

I actually really really like it. I'm impressed by how cohesive it is in sound, if a little one note, and the songs are just the level of overwhelming that I like. I like the pop punky elements and how crunchy but still polished it sounds. I'm not a genre-ologist so I'm simply going off of vibes 😄

I think their performances are super engaging and dynamic, and I'm very impressed by how live they've been able to be during their promotion stages. It was an incredibly smart move to make their promotion songs more belt-y and shout-y so they can all be as live as possible.

I don't actually follow follow them so I don't really know everyone's names but their rap line is so fun to watch and listen to (lowkey giving 3racha vibes stylistically? But also kinda joohoney? It's very cool) and especially yechan. He's killing it and it's wild to learn that he's the youngest but NOT wild to learn that he's been a trainee for such a long time.

I've heard about people comparing them to ateez, which is gonna happen since they're from the same company and whatever, but like I don't think you can compare them any more than that? They're going in a totally different direction sonically and the only thing that kind of ties them together is how rich and layered the production quality is on their tracks. It is fun to try and pick out hongjoong's voice in the backing vocals on some of the tracks. The man is nothing if not distinctive! (Also its so cool that he got to be so involved with their stuff and people who say we have to make him think he's good enough for ateez stuff need to take a step back bc that's not our job) (also also sir if this is what the inside of your head sounds like I'm so sorry).

I think it's really funny and fun that the physical version of their album looks like a personal pan pizza 😄

I also really like that their vibe is young but not childish. Idk if that makes sense

Review: Lovely Ugly / Pretty Shitty (REPEAT RECORDS)

REPEAT Records are back with the 15 track compilation Lovely Ugly / Pretty Shitty. The record features current underground Swansea guitar bands, along with a couple of local legends. Upon their return to Swansea after almost 30 years away, REPEAT found it to be a more diverse, creative, vibrant and exciting place than the one they left behind. Amidst the decay of many traditional industries, imagination is running riot, with a host of venues in the city’s creative quarter continually hosting an array of artists, poets, writers and bands.

This album is a personal selection of some of the music that has inspired, enthused and excited REPEA*T since their return five years ago. The record features trailblazing upstarts including Trampolene, Monet, Swansea Sound, Rainyday Rainbow, Grey FLX and Kikker as well as boasting unreleased work from Swansea legends Helen Love, The Pooh Sticks and The DC10s.

Local legend Helen Love kicks off this mixed genre album with ‘Swansea’s Got An Our Price’, a perfect punk pop ode to former record shop Our Price. The modest queen of the Swansea indie scene talks of spending “all the money we’ve got” at the shop formerly located in Swansea town centre and how important it was to her, singing: “It was just a record shop but it changed my life. July 2nd 1985.”

The noisy, catchy and pop-punky ‘Fucked Society’ follows from Picsel, who have since evolved into Broken Fires. This track was written by accident and recorded on purpose and acts as a cathartic expression of opinion on the society we are now living in.

Baby Schillaci suddenly change the tone with ‘ULTRA HD HAPPY FACE’. It's loud, heavy and in your face, The looping drums, powerful bass and distorted guitar drive this track forward and leaves you wanting to scream out in rebellious protest. ANGHARAD takes us on a tour of her homeland with the indie pop inspired ‘Outsider’s Map of Wales’. She sings how it's “a place with funny names, but my home just the same.”

There is a more vintage and retro feel to the next few tracks. Tom Emlyn’s ‘Three Sided Coin’ is a bright, Beach Boys-like mood lifter. ‘In A Different Life’ is an organ infused jangle-pop critique of Swansea from the Heavenly and The Pooh Sticks super-group project Swansea Sound. Ian Catton’s remix of Soundwire’s ‘Degrees of Separation’ brings an ethereal mix of electronic, psychedelia and post-punk sounds. Filled with synths and echoing vocals this track is a real standout on the album.

Side two of the album starts with a bang. “I wanna go out Tory bashing, I wanna fight a fascist” are the first words of Kikker’s ‘Trash’. It's angry, visceral and inspired by injustice and inequality. Raw emotion and passion comes bursting out of the band’s vocals and music. The intensity is taken down a level with a rare 1991 single version of ‘The World is Turning On’ by 90s Swansea favourites The Pooh Sticks. The track, which featured on their 1993 album Million Seller, marks a shift away from the band’s original ‘twee’ indie-pop sound to a more American power-pop style. The BBC called The Pooh Sticks “ridiculously over-productive, stupidly catchy and archly clever.”

Swansea’s “exiled sons” Trampolene change the pace yet again with a delicate acoustic cover of Elliot Smith’s ‘Between the Bars’. Despite being a cover, the simplicity of the guitar playing and vulnerable vocals make this track another standout. ‘Thrown Hand’ is a solo recording by Egg Spectrum, soon to become a full band Rainyday Rainbow. The liquid-like soundscape created is the main feature of the track, with very little, often hard to make out vocals.

The music feels like it’s moving and is carrying you down this river of jazz and psychedelia. Grey FLX lure you in and completely surprise you with ‘Pins and Needles’. The track starts off as a quiet and intricate instrumental which rises and falls. Lyrics come in and the track builds again, getting louder before suddenly exploding with noise at the halfway mark. The screaming vocals and screeching guitars overcome everything and it is certainly a track that gets your attention.

The noise doesn’t stop there as it is Monet up next. ‘Scuff Button’ perfectly demonstrates the dichotomy of the band’s sound with elements of rhythmic post-punk to all out heavy metal. They really are one to keep an ear out for. Dead Noize are the newest band on the record and they are really making sure they’re heard. ‘Bojack Horseman’ is the third track in a row which grabs you by the throat and makes you listen. It’s noisy, distorted and energetic, fuelled by rock and metal.

Another band with cult status in Swansea, The DC10s, have the honour of closing the album with their 1980 track ‘I Can See Through Walls’. They recorded this 90 second punk pop single as teenagers and achieved a play from John Peel and an NME review before splitting up. It is a fitting conclusion to this collection of songs.

Lovely Ugly / Pretty Shitty is a 15 track love letter to Swansea music and the artists that make the city and its music scene great. There is a real blend of genres which makes the album feel a little disjointed but that is no bad thing. The compilation represents the diversity of creativity and talent that Swansea has to offer and is the perfect advert for the Swansea scene.

Two launch gigs accompany the album. The first took place on Saturday 1 June at Swansea Tangled Parrot, with Monet, ANGHARAD, and Baby Schillaci. The second will take place on Saturday 22 June at Elysium Gallery in Swansea. The show will feature Kikker, Rainyday Rainbow, Grey FLX, Soundwire, Tom Emlyn, and Dead Noize as well as sets from DJs Hue (Swansea Sound / The Pooh Sticks), Catrin (The Loves) and Peter Stone (The Sweetest Ache).

I did Tala so here is a super quick one for Bryan since I’ve been talking about him so much XD Again first time I’ve drawn all the canon outfits together!  unlike with Tala the G-rev outfit is actually my fave! Headcanons under cut! 

Bey 2000 ▪ 15 ▪ smol 💕 ▪ baby 🥺 ▪ but he's also like...an asshole lmao ▪ Real fucked up mentally, like for real. not doing so good ▪ Cuts his own hair (hence the weird blunt cut section on his sidetails lol) ▪ copies Tala’s belt style because he likes Tala 🥺 G-rev ▪ 17 gets slapped in the face by puberty HARD ▪ huge growth spurt, ends up a little beanpole like (finds it infinitely funny he's now taller than Tala) ▪ Has a bit of a fit immediately after getting out of the abbey. Latches onto Tala and for a while refuses to be separated from him. He gets better dont worry👍 ▪ Has a big personality change over these two years now he's out of the abbey. Etho and Scott would be a very funny and dangerous team. Etho goes with familiar people or solo, so being with someone a bit new would be cool! Scott giving Etho a hard time would be so funny. The mad strats tho!!

Impulse and Pearl would be GREAT. Pearl's chaotic energy with Impulses 'rise and grind' style would work well. She could push him to be a bit more daring and mischievous too.

Joel and Scott...I mean...I'd be hilarious and nothing would get done...

Tango and either Ren or Mumbo! I think Mumbo would be a very fun and silly team up for Tango, at the same time, Ren is a great ally and loves to roleplay. If he could get Tango into character that would be so fun!

Scar and Bdubs!! THIS HAS TO HAPPEN! They have such a good friendship, Bdubs listens to him and could give him advice on situations. Scar needs a friend man. Tho... I feel they would be super wild and either win the game or die ep 1 NSSJSJ XD

Etho and Beef (if Beef was added to the server) we love Team Canada and Beef has been playing a lot of UHC lately! He'd be a bit overpowered...especially with Etho... but, it would be very fun!

Iskall and Ren (if Iskall was added to the server) Iskall and Ren are great together and he could go bug Mumbo and Grian.

Scar is a con man that sells shoddy tonics. Claiming that they give you great powers or make you live longer, ect. (He'd rename potions so that all the names would be mixed up. You could want a health potion, but you turn invisible instead. He'd also sell normal ones that work as intended, tho the longer lasting ones would be a random guess)

Since he is a stream punky tycoon in hc s8 i totally thought he was going to do this in LL!

More for Etho and Beef team:

If you watched hc s7 you'll remember Llama Dad. If Beef brought that role over to LL It'd be so funny XD I could see him with his right hand man Etho threatening people with their 'protection'. Then they could get goods and resources as payment! Haha.

Other thoughts:

I really liked the random life mechanic they added in LL as well as the Boogeyman. The Boogeyman role did add A LOT of drama and put strains on teams like crazy, but it was all for fun.

My brother and I were talking and he thought of a "bounty" type mechanic, where a certain person would have a hit put on them and whoever filled the bounty would receive a valuable resource. Or even points to receiving an additional life?

Premade structures could be cool too. Like abandoned places that have some important resources?

THE BEGINNING. i went to see a matinee so it was daytime, but the stage set was all black-and-white very newspaper aesthetic. my sister and i were very close to the front, five rows back:

and here we are, excited for everything to begin. (note my giant tooth earrings. was really hoping they’d catch matt willis’ eye.) soon enough crystal, ronette and chiffon took the stage for the prologue, belted their faces off and got me hype from the first moment. their costumes were kind of punky, street style (my favourite look was on the girl with the green jacket and shiny leggings:)

skid row was great. the grey set really highlighted the colourful costumes, and for this first number the set stayed black-and-white so the only colour were the main characters and urchins, and the ensemble wore black-and-white costumes.

and i remember being so thrilled by the costumes - in this photo seymour is wearing yellow socks but by the time i went to see it they were pink (to match audrey’s hair!) and audrey is wearing fluffy slide slippers in the promo photos but when i saw it she wore a pair of blue open-toe kitten heels.

once the song ended we got to see some character personality: marc antolin as seymour was adorable. he was (for most of the first act at least) very goofy and beamed a lot, he had a very cute smile. his voice was quite high and nasal and silly and i honestly had a really big crush on him. jemima rooper as audrey was equally sweet and adorable - she had a cotton candy pink wig and started off in kind of a sexy-ish outfit, with a sheer off-shoulder top over a bra. her eye makeup was light blue (and the bruise bright purple) and she was really short compared to seymour. mushnik was super tiny and greasy looking.

every interaction seymour and audrey had was just! so cute. at the start where audrey and mushnik discuss orin (the ‘you don’t meet nice boys on skid row’ conversation,) seymour is stood behind them kind of goofing around and he flips his shirt collar up pretending to be orin and acting macho but at the end of the scene audrey goes quiet and carefully fixed his collar back down before she left and it was!!! emotions.

da doo i can’t remember anything about how things looked :( during grow for me it really highlighted how…cute seymour was. he beamed the whole time, and the plant puppet in its baby form was fantastic, (the pod head at the top opened up and had little human teeth lmao) and they used like… household objects painted green for plants. the roses were red toilet brushes:

with red ink on them so when seymour touched the bristles there was visible blood on his finger which was fun. lots of attention to detail in this production.

seymour on the radio i think happened off-stage? so we just hear him being interviewed while we watch mushnik and the urchins listen to the radio together. the choreography during you never know was really fun too, with seymour and the urchins dancing together, seymour did a lot of hip wiggles and kept trying to stop audrey ii from trying to bite at the urchins as he danced. one of the green ping-pong balls fell off the puppet but nobody slipped on it so it was fine. also GOD the voices of the urchins were just so good in this one.

somewhere that’s green is a song that makes me cry most of the times i listen to it or watch any versions of LSOH, but this is the first time i’d seen a version where audrey was also crying. during this number the actress climbed up onto the top of the mushnik’s store prop and she still had the bright purple black-eye makeup on as well as the cast on her arm so she looked so beat down and sad and it was just toward the end of the song at ‘i’m his december bride’ where her singing started to break down and she started crying, and covered her face by the time she got to ‘far from skid row’ with her voice breaking oh my god the tears were flowing VERY much from my eyes.

and as a note the actress did not have this beautiful wig on when i saw it, she wore one with much less volume - it could have been the same wig just styled differently, (tucked under/trimmed to be just sort of...round?) but it was just... so much less cute lmao, you can just about see it here in this cast mirror selfie:

anyway. then it was time for closed for renovation! this one was fun, audrey and seymour i think were just...arranging plants and other things? the ‘mushniks’ shop prop might have expanded a bit? they turned it around?

there were some cute little dancey bits with the three of them together:

then audrey & seymour talk a bit. audrey gives seymour the kind of advice that she also needs to be taking herself -- seymour asks audrey if she’d go shopping with him, and then orin arrives on the scene.

dentist was amazing. i’ve seen a lot of bootlegs of kind of lackluster orin scrivellos but… well, me and my sister decided we were absolutely going to see this production when we found out matt willis was playing the dentist. (we were big busted fans lol) he wore this insane painted leather jacket with this tooth-themed biker gang design (he and his backup dancers all had hell’s teeth on the backs of their jackets) and his dentist coat underneath had the sleeves ripped off to show his tattoos… they gave him white foundation to make him look i guess more ill/joker like? it totally worked. he honestly kinda stole the show and he totally exceeded my expectations (which is saying something because my expectations were that he’d be perfect for the role and that i’d enjoy his performance thoroughly!!!)

then he comes into the shop, comments on the plant, poses around, treats audrey terribly. and not only does he abuse audrey in front of seymour who iirc was watching horrified (as you would) but also poor seymour gets his junk grabbed twice by villains in this production too lmao, orin grabs and squeezes seymour’s junk while he’s yelling at audrey. it’s a theme i guess???

(hell of a promotion image, that one.) then orin and audrey leave and it’s time for mushnik and son. they did a lot of the usual ‘awkward-tango’ choreo and it was just excellent really. there’s nothing i didn’t enjoy about the number, plus mush was quite a short guy but had a real big voice.

you get a good view of all the fun things they used to represent plants here too: cleaning brushes, feather dusters, hairbrushes, a small fishing net, a bubble wand...

so feed me was great because it starts off of course with the plant puppet prop:

but then by the second verse (when it comes to ‘does this look inanimate to you’) they opened up the puppet’s leaves like a mouth and audrey ii in drag queen form emerged (to thunderous applause). [i found a short clip someone got on instagram a while back, you can watch it here!] she was holding a microphone in her hands so when it came to seymour’s responses she held out the mic to his mouth and it was :’) really funny. and seymour gets his junk grabbed again:

because he can’t catch a break. staging wise i think i remember this was very bisexual - it’s important to note that the first wig audrey ii wears strongly resembles the wig that OG audrey wears - and at times during this number audrey ii acts quite flirtatious with seymour and he seems receptive to it and has to visibly shake himself out of it.

audrey comes back for her sweater (iirc it was a VERY jazzy 1990s looking one in aqua green and pink) and seymour and audrey ii make up their minds about what to do with orin.

so seymour heads out - the dentists chair was just a beat-up shopping trolley with various things stuck on (see there’s what looks like a plunger, wrist restraints too lmao) and orin had a bunch of bloodied weapons such as a power drill instead of a dentist drill:

anyway i usually don’t enjoy now(it’s just the gas) as a number when i’ve seen it in bootlegs but again matt willis had tremendous feral energy and he pulled it off. plus the gear was quite retro-futuristic very cool looking:

it was also especially funny just after ‘now’ because after seymour runs off with orin’s body in the trolley he comes back in with it all chopped up and he was pushing dismembered limbs (the arm was even painted with matt willis’ tattoos and nail polish which was a GREAT detail) into the windows of the prop mushnik’s building that audrey ii was inside of, and he even threw up into the audience which was :’) gross but funny. it was yellow. i didn’t see if it splashed anyone.

Oh that’s really hard! It changes a lot, but as of right now I think it’s this:

1. Preeti - She’s honestly like the world’s hottest lesbian to me??? This gorgeous, outdoorsy musician who’s just a little big egotistical, but has a soft side. Kind of stereotypical, but I just love it. I’m a sucker for that kind of oc. Plus, she’s really cute with her girlfriend (who was almost on the list but JUST BARELY missed it)

2. Helen (who is now latina/indian like she DESERVES) - A huge brat that I’ve owned for many many years and who has been through MANY different fandoms (including some original work set in medieval times). She’s my baby--she’s complicated and deep and has one of the most in-depth backstories of any oc. She’s fun to ship and I can always think of good interactions for her. I just. Would die for her.

3. Tiffany - She’s new, but she’s another stereotype I really like: bimbos who are smart, but just unconventionally so. She’s obviously based really heavily on Elle Woods from Legally Blonde but also has developed her own kind of thing. She’s girly, but knows how to speak her mind; she’s privileged, but tries to be aware of it and put other people in the spotlight; she’s gay, but wants what most girly teeny-boppers want out of a relationship. She’s just fun to write, and I really love ocs that are just NICE FUCKING PEOPLE. Plus, her hair is super fun to draw!

4. Phaerie - I love old school Punk and other counter-culture movements, so that is what Phaerie encompasses. I also used to have a HUGE fixation on Drow (dark elves, a race in Forgotten Realms and other fantasy settings) and that’s originally what Phae was. She’s wild and fun and impulsive, she’s hilarious, she’s EVERYTHING I WANT in an oc! She’s so fun to rp as well. She has her soft side, her talents, her flaws, but they all feel like the most sensible ones? Like her actions are wild, but her motivations and development is simple and relatable. She struggled and felt like she had to force her way into the world, so she forces her way into EVERYTHING and fuck anybody who doesn’t like that. Plus, it’s fun to draw super punky or glam rock outfits for her to wear AND she’s based on Pizzazz from Jem and the Holograms so where can you go wrong??

5. Xander - So he’s uh... Also based on some existing characters. But, he’s become enough of his own oc to where I feel comfortable sharing.

My favorite game EVER is Baldur’s Gate, and there’s a certain mod that makes you able to romance the character Xan... Who I totally love and always end up romancing even though I’m a lesbian. This is Xan

MY Xan has developed into a super depressed bartender. He’s Jewish and anxious and has an insanely huge family that constantly picks on him because he’s anxious and easy to pick on. He grew up into a mess of an adult, especially since his only real skill is cheap magic tricks. He can’t keep a relationship because he’s so cynical and self-sabotaging, but he REALLY wants one and is a freak for romantic comedies. Whenever he manages to date a girl for long enough (and he usually picks girls who treat him badly because he doesn’t think he deserves better), he tries to make some big romantic gesture and fucks it up. He’s a mess and a slob. I adore him.

6. Xanthe - Yet another anxious wreck of a person, but this time the MOST anxious wreck there is. She’s agoraphobic, overly-critical, and her entire life is online. She’s a lesbian, but hasn’t figured that out yet and instead thinks she’s aro/ace. She’s very good with details and complex problems, which manifests in her being a talented programmer. SHe’s also a hacker by trade, paid to hack into company servers and point out their flaws so the company can patch those up. She also likes models and dolls--anything with lots of tiny parts and details that she can obsess over to pass the time.

7. Jules - First of all: he’s Helen’s half-brother and I love him. Jules was a really dramatic character back in the day, but after meeting his future wife he’s developed into more of a comedic character. He’s a loser musician--not UNTALENTED but also lacking any of the motivation to do what he needs to do to make a living with music. He’s... basically a slutty bisexual bard who has settled down and chilled out. Idk, he’s just funny. I love him. He also has the MOST detailed backstory of all my ocs--it’s about 20 pages long if written out. It’s. Whew. A lot.

8. Manda - Based on one of my best friends, she’s another extremely detailed oc (probably #2 behind Jules). She would’ve been my favorite, but since I’ve kind of ‘finished’ her story I find myself not using her much. She’s the spoiled child of a shady ass celebrity lawyer and doesn’t care about much of anything EXCEPT her skill as an actress. She struggled in relationships, thinking she was bi pretty much until she met her wife and NEVER UNDERSTANDING WHY she got so attached to the women she dated. She met her wife on a reality show, they dated long distance, and then Manda flew her to California to be together forever. Her story is crazy (she was married to her weed dealer for a while??) and I think her becoming the head of a production company after a successful film career is the perfect ending for her.

9. Nia - Not a lot to say about Nia, but more I love her design and I’m excited to develop her more? Mom friend lesbian ballerina twin. Love it. Really outspoken and direct. 

10. Rae - I have a huge soft spot for Rae because I think she’s the most similar to me?? Creative young girl from a small town who desperately wants to go somewhere more accepting. Spent most of her time online, and when she finally goes to college she goes ALL OUT trying to join every club, befriend all kinds of people, follow all the trends, and be the ‘It Girl’. It’s exhausting and she ends up crashing a lot of the time, but her optimistic/bubbly personality keeps her going. I said before that I love perky nice characters and that’s Rae to a T. Also she’s poly/bi so that makes her fun to work with when it comes to shipping

Back from Animefest 2017 ~ LM.C Report!! Part One.

So, LM.C’s 4th appearance in the US has gone. Let me preface this by saying I wanted to get some pictures and video for myself and all the other fans but they had strict rules regarding media. Basically, no media of any kind, no recording, no pictures, and no video. This applied to all their appearances, the concert, the autograph sessions, and the Q&A panel. 

Naturally, this is a disappointment for fans, but it was requested that he artist’s privacy please be respected. I don’t know if the request came from Maya and Aiji themselves, (though given they’ve been photographed and had pictures taken with fans before I don’t think so) or if this was determined by their handlers. In any case, out of respect for the band, we all abided by the rules. 

I will do my best to recount from memory, what happened at the concert and Q&A. 

Starting with the concert

The concert was great, my companion and I were able to get into the second row. The Majestic Theater was nearly full, so I hope they were encouraged by that and it won’t be another 5 years before we see them State-side again.

Warning, Maya does this in all his performances, he’ll drink water and then spit it out onto the crowd, so if you have a problem with that, stay a few rows back, cause he spits very far (he’s had plenty of practice). There were about 2 or 3 rows in between the audience and the stage, and he still got us in the 2nd and 3rd rows (that would be 4 or 5 rows away). 

I was amazed by their energy, I thought they’d start slow and ramp up or start with some fast-paced songs and do some slow ones in the middle, but it was high pace, and high energy the whole time. They looked amazing and wore their Veda costume.

Maya’s english is actually pretty good, he couldn’t explain the more abstract concepts behind one of their songs (Just Like this!! He was going to sing it, but since he couldn’t explain the concept he skipped it and sang something else.)

It seems with the Dallas crowd that Aiji is a bit more popular than Maya. They were mostly calling his name, and watching him play was a thing of beauty. However, the crowd went crazy when Maya started shaking his hips and pulled his shirt to reveal his shoulder, scandalous! ^_^

Btw, they are even hotter in person.  XD

I went to a Between the Buried and Me concert (mostly went for Animals as Leaders) a couple years ago, it was my firs real metal show, i was dressed like a slut and got pushed over by a drunk guy so thinking about it makes me anxious. I went to an Animals as Leaders concert (With Plini, yes!!) a few months ago for my birthday, it was excellent and i was there just holding hands with my girls and crying so it makes me feel warm and loved.

last phone call: ugh. i spent like 45 minutes on the phone with my internet provider yesterday setting up a time for a tech guy to come replace my modem.

last text message: “hahaha! there’s someone in my building/neighbourhood that’s ‘the west wing.’” talking about people’s wifi names because i just renamed mine “gryffindor tower” after the internet guy set up my new modem.

last time you cried: sunday night. my mom and i were telling my brother a story about the night we hit a deer and an owl within two miles of each other because he was only a few months old at the time. it’s a super weird, funny story and we were all laughing so hard we were crying. (the deer was fine. we brought the owl home and called a local animal rehab place and they came to take the owl the next day and then sent us a picture in the mail of the owl being released back to the wild.)

dated someone twice: kind of? i dated this kid john for a while and then we broke up because he was joining the army and then we got back together for like a month when he came back from boot camp and then we broke up again.

been cheated on: yes. by my first boyfriend with this girl who was a total bitch to me. 😒

lost someone special: well, my grandmother passed away about seven and a half years ago and that was tough because we were very close. my great uncle eddie, who was like a second grandfather, passed away a little over three years ago and that was tough too. i’ve also lost some good friends because i’m terrible at keeping in touch with people when i no longer see them regularly. and there’s a whole long story about my cousin, who was my best friend since we were babies until about a year and a half ago when he got married.

been depressed: yeah. i’ve had bouts of depression since my teens. i’ve been doing all right lately though.

made a new friend: i’ve made some friends here on tumblr, which is really awesome. i guess i made a few new “work friends” when i started at the country club last summer too, so that’s kind of cool.

how many people on your tumblr do you know irl: i knew one of my mutuals long before tumblr was even a thing. other than that, i’ve met @1dfourinfinity and @narryintheam​ when we went to see niall on the today show in october. and there’s my group chat and @kirrylovesnarry​ who i’ve never met in real life but who i talk to all of the time. 

do you want to change your name: the name on my birth certificate is not meggie and no, i won’t tell you what it actually is, but i’ve never been called by the name on my birth certificate except in situations where they’re only calling me by my legal name. my cousin mentioned above didn’t know my real name until we were 8. so, to answer the question, i would love to legally change my name to meggie but i think it would really hurt my mom’s feelings because it’s a family name.

what is the one thing you wish you could change about your life: i just wish i had a bit more money because finances get a little tight in the winter with heat bills and fewer work hours since the country club closes for the winter and i’m only working part-time at my other job.

zodiac sign: libra/scorpio. i’m born on the day it changes so some things list me as the last day of libra and others have me as the first day of scorpio. i used a calculator thing where you put in the time you were born and everything once and it said i was scorpio. if i’d been born, like, three hours earlier, it would have been libra. but i definitely have both libra and scorpio traits.

first surgery ever: i had two hernias removed when i was, like, 3.

first piercing: i don’t have any piercings.

first sport you joined: my parents signed me up for kiddie soccer when i was maybe 4 because they wanted me to make new friends other than my cousin zak. i cried on the second day because i hated it so much. 

first vacation: probably rehoboth beach, delaware. family tradition from when my mom was maybe 6 years old until my parents got divorced fifteen years ago.
