So Queen’s Shadow is the first book I ever listened to on Audible and now I’m hooked (not that I thought QS was excellent but more listening to books is my new jam)- so then I got my old fave Bloodline on Audible and whew boy- listening to this right after QS is so incredibly emotional ��. I…. highly recommend it. ��

I love listening to books!  I’ve found, for me, that it has to be ones that I’m not going to be hyper-analyzing and occasionally sometimes a reader doesn’t quite fit for me, but books I just want to casually enjoy or have a listen to all over again?  It’s AMAZING.  And they can really give you SO MANY FEELINGS, especially when you go from one to another like that! I really think the Aftermath books benefit from this so much (ditto the Join the Resistance and Adventures in Wild Space books and I’m forever sad that the Servants of the Empire books don’t have audiobook versions) and I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW PEOPLE’S FAVORITE AUDIOBOOKS.  Not necessarily the ones you think are the best books, but the ones you think worked really great as AUDIOBOOKS. (This is definitely not my less-than-subtle way of asking for recs, even for books I’ve already read.  u__u)

Really? I’ve never seen anyone call Poe, Obi-Wan, Cassian etc short, much less tiny. In fact, I keep seeing them called tall, which is ? but okay.

I’m 5′4″ and I’d never consider people over 5′8″ tiny by any stretch of the imagination. For men, anything much over 5′10″ seems tall, anything under 5′7″ or so seems short, and in-between is sort of average. 

...Okay, I had to check, and if Wikipedia can be trusted, the average height for men is 5′9″ in the US, 5′9″ in Scotland, and 5′5″ or 5′6″ in Mexico. So yeah, none of them are short.

While I will happily take No Other Force Ghosts over Fucking Over The Force Ghosts, I am truly saddened by the deeply tragic wasted opportunity to have two figures standing there on Ahch-To, backlit by the twin suns that they both knew so well, as well as Luke did, leaning forward to put a gentle, supporting ghostly hand on each of his shoulders as he claws his way back up onto the stone seat. Luke looks up at the twin suns, peace dawning over his face, and we see Obi-Wan and Anakin standing beside him.  “We’re proud of you, Luke.”  “We’ll show you the way.” as they all three fade from the pulled back shot, only Luke’s cloak left to flutter off in the breeze. IT WOULD HAVE DESTROYED ME IN ALL THE BEST WAYS.

I WILL say that the canon materials have muddled whether Kes/Shara and Han/Leia were close after the war because of discrepancies between Before The Awakening and Poe's Logbook wrt their closeness during and after the war, and the TLJ novelization (crappily and erasing Shara) retconned Leia into a larger role in Poe's younger life, IIRC, but TLJ was such a shitshow that I feel like the whole novelization can be considered side-canon at best tbh?

yeah but like this was a major headcanon before TLJ/the novelization came out so when it started it was invalid and it continues to be bc I refuse to engage TLJ novelization canon that’s like ‘oh Shara was Leia’s personal pilot, also Kes who?’. 

But I also think that they're pointedly incompatible personality types and even if they got along as like Tiny Kids they would stop by like, mid-elementary school age when they could both pass the mirror test and understand that they're their own people. Like. Their value systems as individuals are just too different, EVEN IN a scenario where "Ben Solo" ever existed. It's a collectivist versus an individualist and that's why "Ben Solo" hated his parents, too, ffs.

They really are just very different -- I know the age difference is like, between three and five years? but when they were kids, which is the likeliest point where they would’ve met, those are very important years. Like developmentally where they would be would be very different. And Poe doesn’t have younger siblings so idk how prepared he would be to deal with a five year old when he’s eight or whatever. I just don’t get it, and I just don’t care -- like Poe has reason enough to hate Kylo, and it’s tragic enough that he knows Kylo has a connection to Leia since he cares about Leia, more than he should by TLJ, he doesn’t need to have his own connection to that mess.

Also I just frankly don’t have any interest in the Damerons as auxiliaries to the Organa-Solo family, I have interest in the Damerons living their own life on their jungle moon and then on Kes Dameron being the best single dad in the entire galaxy while also trying to work through his own trauma from the war while protecting Poe and raising him right. 

Like I know a lot of people have attachment to Leia and it’s -- fine, but as someone who didn’t grow up with the series my main associations with her now are her being cool but barely in TFA, and then slapping Poe & treating him like shit and getting praised for it by the fandom, so in other words: not great. Like TLJ was a shit show but the number of times I had to see the yaaaas queen takes on gifs of her slapping poe or shooting him totally ruined my enjoyment of her character and that is just as much (if not more) on her fans as it is on RJohn. Like I could’ve ignored that as bad characterization if the rest of the fandom was as :/ about it, but alas.

And it’s a shame bc she is great in the OT and I loved her in Bloodline so much but any kind of surrogate mother/son thing going on with Poe and Leia, which I liked in TFA-era stuff, has been so thoroughly fucked by TLJ, which makes it seem like Poe is devoted to and cares about Leia so much, while Leia’s chill with slapping him, shooting him, and letting her white lady friend fondle his face when he’s unconscious for whatever the fuck reason, and whatever fandom writes about their relationship now is like ‘oh no it’s totes cool Leia did that bc Poe was a naughty child disobeying orders, so.’

Yeah there’s not...any coming back from that, imo.
