And I've made a sketch about Marinette, Adrien and Lila, Chloé.

In this sketch, Adrien, Lila and Chloé stand up against each other for being Marinette's date.

Lila flirts with Marinette (she even puts her hand under the jacket) at the sight of Adrien. The boy becomes upset towards the super-liar who openly teases him. While an overprotective Adrien holds the left hand of Marinette with his two hands, Chloé comes to call the boy by putting a finger on his shoulder. The righ girl dislikes to see him hanging out with her favourite bakery girl. Marinette is just confused, embarrassed.

Fact: Marinette is dressed like a punk (not emo nor gothic). So, she is a delinquent.

Bonus:

Alya is surprised about delinquent Marinette attracting popular teenage people for a harem. The ladyblogger thinks her best friend is an evil genius.

Regarding Marinette’s use of the Rabbit Miraculous, it occurred to me that besides the Ladybug it was really the only one she ever needed.

Think about it, an akuma shows up and instead of fighting it Marinette unifies the Ladybug and Rabbit (superhero name: Bugs Bunny because I can’t resist) and ducks into the burrow. She finds out who was akumatized and when, exits the burrow at that point, and purifies the akuma before it reaches the victim. If she’s really using her brain she can find out were the akuma came from, and from there identify and defeat HawkShadowMonarchMoth. If she’s not then at least being unable to akumatize anyone would mean that he’d have to try to fight Ladybug himself.

I don't believe that she can’t because she needs to preserve the integrity of the timeline or some nonsense. This is only the One True Timeline because Alix says it is. We’ve seen nothing to indicate that using time travel like this would be a bad thing.

The only downside would be that this makes Chat Noir unnecessary. Adrien is my favorite character, and I love his relationship with Plagg, but as much as I hate to say it, handing out the two Miraculous that HawkShadowMonarchMoth wants was incredibly smooth brained of Fu. He should have given Adrien the Rabbit. Plus, if Adrien had access to the burrow he’d know everything Ladybug has been lying about.

The Rabbit Miraculous removes all secrecy because of the way its time travel mechanic works. This is why Bunnix threw Marinette at Cat Blanc while she flipped through the pages of the timeline to find the inciting incident for Adrien's Akumatization.

The one challenge to using this Miraculous to track down the source of the Akumas would be the timer, which they established in the show that the Rabbit Miraculous doesn't have. That means that the Miraculous could totally be used to go back to the moment of Akumatization, see what direction the Akuma came from, travel further back into a place in that direction to see where it got to there and just repeating the process until the origin point of the Akuma was reached.

So, why didn't the super genius Marinette come up with this? Simply put, it's too much work. Marinette will put all her effort and sacrifice anything and anyone she thinks is necessary to stop an Akuma in front of her, but once that's done, so is she. Marinette isn't curious about uncovering the Monarch-Moth’s identity. She figured out how to make Akuma fights more efficient for her and put a lot of effort into that, but she's never put any effort into discovering who's making the Akumas, so coming up with an admittedly complex method of using the Rabbit to do it is way beyond her.

Like, imagine if the interpretative dance episode was replaced by an episode where the heroes are hunting down an Akuma butterfly. They could lose sight of it a couple of times to ramp up tension, might even have to repeat a part of the journey, and the conclusion of the episode would bring them to the underground lair. Then the heroes would retreat to gather their forces and make an invasion plan. The only reason I can see for not making this episode is that it would break the show’s formula utterly to have an episode with no focus on a fight scene, which might be too much to ask of the writers or the executives.

I've pretty much accepted that "not making Cat Noir useless/superfluous/unnecessary" is way too much to ask. So "please make Marinette as smart/competent as you claim she is" will just have to do.

Perfect timing for Halloween though!

It was rather odd for a commission, but Marinette was nothing if not dedicated and honest. If she accepted a job, she would make every effort to see it through to its completion.

She admittedly wasn't expecting the requestee to send her the puppet he wanted her to make clothes for, though.

"It does make sense." She reasoned, pulling the puppet out of the box he was shipped in. "This way I can make sure the clothes fit him."

She looked him over, curious.

"Slappy, huh?" Strange name for a puppet. But she supposed it was probably part of his routine, right? Slapstick humor or whatnot?

She laid the puppet out on her desk and looked him over. Taking a few measurements. Noting what color and fabric would suit him best.

It wasn't until the call for dinner that Marinette realized how much time had passed.

"All right, I'm going down for dinner. Littlebug, Chaton, play nice with Slappy while I'm gone."

With that, Marinette left the room, knowing that everything would be in good hands.

Slappy couldn't have planned this any better.

Mailing himself to the designer girl was a stroke of genius! He would get new duds AND a new slave to torment.

France was a bit far from his previous "new home", but at least this would be far enough from anyone who would be aware of him or could pass along word about him. Seriously, the advent of super heroes would really be the death of him.

Slappy pushed himself off the desk and began looking around the room in distaste.

Still, he'd known she was a girl but did her room really need this much pink? And what were those names? Littlebug and Chaton?

Sure enough, there were two dolls seated side by side on the trunk. Curious, he approached them.

They looked almost like super heroes, too. One doll had black hair in pigtails while wearing red with black spots. The other had yellow thread for hair and an all black suit with cat ears. Both with pasted smiles and blank stares as they sat in place just like any old dolls.

If he was a sap, he would say they were cute. But then he might as well be called "Sappy" instead of Slappy. And that would certainly be less fun.

Speaking of, he raised one hand and slapped the red doll off the trunk. Might as well get to work. Had to start on the torment sooner or later to let the kid know who was boss.

"Sorry kiddos," he jeered, "but there's not gonna be enough room for all of us."

Maybe he'd stuff one of them in the trunk? Or use scissors, since designer-girl had to have some in her desk somewhere...

He gave the red doll a grin and reached for the cat doll to see what to do to it next.

He wasn't expecting the hand that grabbed him instead.

"What?" He jumped, startled and looked back.

The cat doll was still there.

But he was standing now.

And he wasn't smiling anymore.

"Uh...hello?"

Before he could do anything else, he heard a whip sound before something wrapped around him, tying his legs together. The cat doll took advantage and pushed him, causing him to lose his balance and fall flat on his back on the floor.

Looking up, he saw the black doll staring down at him from the trunk.

And sure enough, the red doll was standing as well. Specifically standing over him and looking down on him, holding...was that a yo-yo?

She pulled, and his bonds tightened. So clearly she had control over what was holding him, and prevented him from moving.

And for what was supposed to be a cute plush toy, she looked...rather angry.

The cat doll hopped down to stand over him as well, not looking happy either.

He simpered.

"Hey, let's talk about this?"

The two glared at him.

"Littlebug! Chaton! I brought you dessert!" Marinette called as she entered her room.

She had expected the dolls to have been active.

...she had not expected the activity.

She looked around the room in confusion.

"Why is Slappy tied up? And missing his arms?"

Chaton held up one of the puppet's arms and waved to Marinette with it.

"Well that's one. Where's the other?"

Littlebug looked away, refusing to answer.

Ooooooh, Marinette saw what was happening here.

"Did you two get jealous?"

They didn't deny it. Chaton continued to play with the arm while Littlebug just gave the puppet a nasty glare.

Slappy was sorely regretting his life choices.

Note to self: the dolls don't like to share.

Curious, but do you know of anything Marinette is bad at? I didn't realize this until before, but Marinette always seems to be presented as amazing at everything. Like, I can get baking and designing, since they're things she's had personal experience in, but everything else? She's either super amazing or she needed five minutes of instruction and she's incredible.

Gaming? Absolute pro. Art? Amazing. Fencing? Just a little help from Adrien, and she's so good. So far, the skills she's presented to be absolutely amazing at: gaming, fencing, art, fashion, costume design (surprise surprise, fashion and costume design are two different avenues), baking, DIY, mechanical engineering (Miracle box hiding place and snapping diary box), fighting, leadership, decision-making, Guardianship, school (somehow straight-A student despite her tardiness and Ladybug issues).

And that's all I can get off the top of my head. I'm scared that there might be more. The only things I can think of that she's bad at is ice skating (which feels like a plot device for the Frozer episode, since she adapted so quickly to ice-skating as Icebug) and talking to Adrien.

I have a character (non-MLB) with the kind of genius that lets her master anything if she's seen it two or three times, but that genius has limitations itself that later compels her to actually think and work hard to master said subject. But Marinette is never even implied to be similiar to this, and everything she's good at is just passed off as "Amazing Marinette" and then left alone.

What do you think? If there's any other examples of things she's bad at, clumsiness nonwithstanding, please tell me, because this thought is driving me bonkers.

Nothing comes to mind, though I will say that Marinette wasn't a very good fencer. Then again, the show is actually laughably bad at portraying fencing, so I guess we just have to take Adrien's word for it that she was good. (I fenced for several years. May even have my old meddles somewhere as proof, though I doubt it.)

This isn't unique to Marinette, though. Most of the teen characters are absurdly talented. Kitty Section was so cool XY stole their music and their look. Alya runs a blog that's so successful that she was interviewed on national TV (end of PrimeQueen). Nino got to be on that TV competition in Simon Says. Max has tech in a literal space ship. The list goes on and on. Marinette just has more than most because she's the main character.

This isn't necessarily a flaw. It's normal for kids shows to have kid/teen characters who are super cool and talented because the goal is to inspire real kids to try things. The only reason it feels like a flaw in Miraculous is that this type of super-cool can-do-anything character is usually reserved for low-stakes episodic shows. Serialized shows (aka, shows with an overarching plot) will still have kid and teen characters who do the things adults usually do because that's what the target audience wants to see, but these kid and teen character will be a lot more nuanced and flawed. They're allowed to fail because their stories can take multiple episodes to resolve whereas characters in episodic shows have to have everything figured out and wrapped up in 20 minutes, allowing for way less nuance to their characters.

Because Miraculous is trying to be both an episodic and a serialized show, you get a lot of awkward characterization and writing. Sitcom drama with prestige TV stakes. We want Miraculous' cast to feel like they belong in a serialized drama because Miraculous has a serialized plot, but the individual episodes must stand alone, so the characters can't have the depth they need. It's messy, ugly writing.

and she ends up going to midtown high-school, where not to her knowledge, fellow teenage superhero Peter parker aka "Your friendly neighborhood SPIDER-MAN" goes to school.

of course Marinette still has the ladybug miraculous -even tho everyone thinks she doesn't have the rat miraculous anymore- and the miracle box. so she can still fight hawkmoth because the horse is basically fast travel irl, Space miraculous super conveintent.

It would be canon compliant till season 2 and most? of season 3? but like fuck miracle queen, season3 finale + truth made me stop watching the show. so like in this au, lets just assume Fu is dead, and ladybug has had the miracle box for some time now. and that they got the miraculous when they were 13, and are currently 15? yeah? okay.

and how marinettes got her whole "i'm RESPONISBLE!!! for the whole fucking universe now, omfg i'm the reason fu is basically dead" angsty shit going on which kinda parallels peters whole "i have super powers, and if i dont do something to help then its my fault if someone gets hurt, like how my uncle died. -It wasnt just one villain, it was two. The Butterfly Miraculous and The Peacock. And both of them were... Incredibly competent.

-Signora Rossa called on all her Allies (Side Kicks) for help.

-But the duo was Decimating them. The fighting skill easily outclassed her. And Signora's lucky charm only helped her escape. (Because her mindset is not on protecting people, but getting what she wants.)

-After Signora Rossa Fled, The peacock villain was annoyed. "She escaped. "

-The Butterfly Villainess smiled. "Dont worry my Lovely Feather, she left us a gift."

-The Peacock Villain smiled as he picked up the villainess Bridal style before leaving.

-Unfortunately for Rossa, two of her side kicks were captured. The Tiger and the Pig. Both their miraculous taken as trophies. Content for the time they left.

-Lila detransformed yelling at tikki what went wrong.

-"This is my world! I should have won."

-"The wish doesnt work like that. Your selfish wish changed so many things, the universe created a counter balance. You are a 'Hero' in this world that may have a great life, but there has to be a counter. Those villains that beat the stuffing out of you without even using their powers. Thats your counter balance. Its fitting, I hope you lose."

-Lila growled at her kwami before telling tikki to shut up. She was not going to lose to these villains. This was her world, and they were just living in it.

Miraculous may have perfected the Sherlock Holmes trick, by not hiding the fact that it's a trick

After all the posts of me shitting on Miraculous, I figured I'd cover something that I really like and respect about it. Just to prove that I am, in fact, being critical of this show and not just pointlessly mean.

Now, a majority of you might be wondering "What the hell is the Sherlock Holmes trick?"

The Sherlock Holmes trick is the name that I like to use to refer to Arthur Conan Doyle's secret to making Sherlock Holmes seem so smart.

It's worth noting that Arthur absolutely hated how popular Sherlock Holmes became, because of just how simple of a trick it was.

In essence, here's what the trick was: He would hand Sherlock the cards under the table.

Did you ever consider how weird it is that Sherlock can piece together the right puzzle simply by viewing all the necessary clues? Probably not. Because it doesn't seem weird when you phrase it like that.

Of course Sherlock can quickly piece together the puzzle by looking at all the clues, that's what a detective does!

But the overwhelming majority of real-world detectives can't put the pieces in the correct order nearly as quickly as Sherlock does. The main conflict in the original stories isn't "Can Sherlock figure it out using all the clues available?", it's "How will Sherlock find the clues that lead him to the correct conclusion?"

As soon as Sherlock has all the necessary clues, he's already figured it out. He pretty much always jumps to some big accusation using all the previous clues as evidence, and he's correct.

But as Arthur Conan Doyle himself went on record to point out, there are any number of conclusions that Sherlock could jump to using the clues alone. So how can Sherlock always land on the correct one, and so quickly too?

Simple. Because he has to. Because that's what the story is. Most importantly, because it makes him look smart.

This is a really great trick for writing a character that's smarter than yourself. Give them what they need in order to figure it out, and then have them jump to the correct assumption super quickly as though it were obvious. Put them in a situation that most people would never be able to figure out, and have them figure it out.

It's an extremely simple, but extremely effective trick.

Now, how does Miraculous come into play here? How can I claim that Miraculous "perfected" a trick that needed no perfecting?

Writing this sentence right now, I don't know if 'perfected' was the right word to use.

It's more like Miraculous destroyed the trick. It perfectly deconstructed the trick, exposing it as a trick, through its excellent use of said trick.

Two words. Lucky. Charm.

The Lucky Charm is every writer's wet dream. It literally gives Marinette exactly what she needs in any scenario.

It's the Sherlock Holmes trick, but instead of handing her the cards under the table, it just gives her the cards right out in the open.

It's such a simple use of such a simple trick, but it manages to show the audience exactly what the trick is by acting as a sort of hand of god.

I really have to applaud the creators of Miraculous for the idea of the Lucky Charm, because they've effectively made it so that they can make Marinette seem like a genius, all without needing to hide what writing trick they're using.

oh yeah I totally missed that Ambre is too. I think the characterization is super well done of all the girls! and i love that you guys are leaning into the corruption of the elite & how they exploit their fake children i eat it up everytime. Including XY and the prince was genius, and Chloe’s relationship with Audrey(rather, lack thereof) is probably my favorite part of the whole AU.

Marinette’s POV

I wave off another tech businessman as they move on to the next table that had caught their eye. My Dad moves over next to me, throwing an arm over my shoulder. “Well, you seem to be doing well.”

“I am doing well. The judges were enthusiastic, and so have all the Tech gurus that have been by. I’m feeling pretty great.”

“Well, I’m glad. The rest of the kids have gotten some pretty good feedback.”

“Any potential business that will invest in their ideas? I’ve had at least 6 companies leave me business cards for when I put my device on the market.”

“That’s my girl. Keep up the good work, I want to visit a few more kids. Maybe get a few more summer interns for the company.”

“What’s your plan? Conquer the science world by brainwashing the next generation?”

“Viva la revolución!”

Alya’s POV

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Marinette was in the same building as us for the Tech convention, showing off some kind of watch thing to a whole bunch of adults. In the short amount of time, I’d been watching her all kinds of people had stopped to see her stand. Several had asked her questions in a variety of languages. I had blinked at that. I knew Marinette learned German in school, as well as some Spanish, and that her mother was teaching her Mandarin. But, I never knew that Marinette spoke Japanese, Italian, English, and Portuguese.

She looked absolutely in her element, switching between her languages as she pointed to the watch, glove-thing, next to her, or to the poster behind her. I couldn’t squash the rising jealousy as Marinette just kept smiling. I’d been unable to come up with anything for the showcase, and my parents almost didn’t pay for me to come on the trip because of this. I barely managed to convince my parents to let me come so I could cover all of this for the Ladyblog. This would bring in the views, I just knew it. Genius inventions by kids would be an amazing story. Especially when I wrote all about Lila’s accomplishments. Ladybug’s best friend winning a prize at this competition would be an excellent story for my university applications.

I turn away as yet another well-dressed person comes to speak to Marinette. I turn away with a growl as I push back to the collection of class projects. It took me a few minutes to get there, between all of the other competitors and visitors. When I finally make it take to Nino’s table, which held some scientific layout for some music, I all but fall into Nino’s chair.

“What’s wrong, babe?” Nino looks down at me with a concerned gaze.

“Marinette’s here. Marinette is here, showing off some stupid design, and everyone seems to love it. People are constantly over there talking to her, in multiple languages. Since when does Mari speak Italian!” “Babe-”

“And, where was all of this in class? Where were these languages, where was this brilliance, where was this confident side of Marinette that we have never seen before?”

“Babe, we didn’t really know Marinette before you arrived. She was the super young girl in class with good grades, baked goods, and not a lot of free time. Not to mention, befriending her meant getting on Chloe’s bad side. I knew she took classes for Spanish and something else, but I never knew of her speaking more than those languages. As for her newfound confidence,” Nino shrugs. “I have no idea.”

I groan. “I just can’t believe that-”

“WHAT!” Nino and I jerk our heads to the sound of the scream. We exchange a look before getting up. It only took a few seconds of crowd maneuvering to get to the scream. Lila was standing in front of her table, her face red with what I thought was either anger or embarrassment.

I reach out to my bestie, placing a hand on Lila’s shoulder. “What’s wrong?”

The judge briefly glances at me, then fixes his gaze back at Lila. “You are banned from this competition and we have blacklisted you from future tech competitions.” The Judge’s french was cold and hard.

I move to look at the paper. My ability to read English was passable. I was able to pick up every few words. However, I could pick out “banned”, “stolen”, “copyright” and “Stark Industries”.

“What! That’s not possible! Lila’s done so much! Why would she need to steal someone else’s design?” I’m practically screaming in french.

Lila jerks up to look at him. “Your project,” he switches back to English, which was just as cold and unforgivable. “Is not yours. We knew this the moment we came to your stand as we recognized your project. Stark Industries announced the production and eventual sale of the product over two weeks ago.”

Lila starts to pale fast. “I-she stole it from me. Marinette must have stolen my project and told everyone that it was her’s!”

“We have video footage of you breaking into the inventor’s house and taking photos of her projects. Now, please stop lying to everyone here. You are wasting valuable time.” The man turns on his heels and leaves.

I look back at the sheet, then at Lila. Lila’s face was contorted. Her jaw clenched, her brow furrowed, and a red face. The paper was crumpled up in her hand. “Lila, are you alright?”

Just as quickly as the anger came, it disappeared. Lila’s eyes fill with tears, her lips were quivering, and then she gives a wretched sob. “It’s-It’s all Marinette’s fault! She must have told them I was stealing!”

I wrap my arms around Lila. “It’s ok Lila. We’ll get this all straightened out. I’ll make sure you get the credit. Marinette can’t be this smart anyways and no way does she know Tony Stark!” I suddenly gasp. “Lila, you could tell Tony Stark and his daughter about Marinette! He helped fund our trip, you told us how close you and his daughter are. I bet if you explained everything, they’d drop Marinette in a second.”

Lila freezes before a smile fills her face. “Of course, how could I forget. I’ll call them!”

“No need dudette!” Nino gives the pair of us a big smile. “I just saw Tony Stark a few rows over. He’s looking at student projects.”

Lila’s eyes go wide. “That’s not necessary! I wouldn’t want to disrupt him during the convention.”

I give my bestie a wide smile. “It’s fine! I’ll get him right now!” I wave my hand. “Mr. Stark!” Dozens of heads turn towards me. I was only interested in the man with dark hair, sunglasses, and an expensive suit. “Mr. Stark!”

The man pulls off his sunglasses and raises an eyebrow at me. “Can I help you?”

I give Tony Stark a big smile. “Yes!” I point down at Lila. “It’s Lila Rossi! Your daughter’s friend! They meet several years ago in Italy!”

Tony Stark’s eyebrow rises. “I know all of my daughter’s friends. They’re currently planning a rebellion against me.”

I blink. “What?”

Tony Stark turns to Lila. “Would you spend 6 days in front of a TV?”

Lila scoffs. “No. I have way better things to do.”

“Then you’re definitely not one of my daughter’s friends, because they all just spent over 128 hours watching 12 Star Wars movies, 7 seasons of Clone Wars, the Bad Batch, all 4 seasons of Star Wars Rebels, and both seasons of the Mandalorian.”

“I-what?” Lila is blinking rapidly. “She’s your daughter? Why wouldn’t she go shopping or take a vacation, or something actually fun?”

Tony Stark shrugs. “She’s a fashionista nerd. Some days she wants to go shopping, other days she wants to obsess over Star Wars, or build a wireless charging device.”

Lila’s head snaps up at the same time as mine. “What?”

Tony Stark gives a small smile. “Maybe you should be more careful of who you steal from.” He puts his sunglasses back on. “Maybe you should stop making up lies about my child, I have excellent lawyers.”

I stare at the billionaire. What was happening?

Lila’s mouth opens and closes. “It’s Marinette’s fault! I don’t know what she told you, but she’s lying!”

I start nodding. “Lila’s right. I thought Marinette was super sweet when I meet her, but she’s nothing like that. She’s a bully, a thief, a liar, and she’s selfish!”

“Selfish?” Tony Stark crosses his arms over his chest. “What, she won’t give you free, handmade clothing? Or plan elaborate class trips she’s eventually excluded from, despiting doing all of the work? Or because she won’t babysit three rowdy children, last minute, all night, with no pay, so their sibling can have a date night on their parent’s dime.”

“I-” My mouth drops open. “What?”

“Marinette has recommendations from the Style Queen, won a contest by Gabriel Agreste, is the personal stylist for Jagged Stone, has regularly designed for Clara Nightingale, graduated from Lycée when she was 14, and will be attending MIT at age 15. You, Ms. Césaire, run a blog. Ms. Rossi is a small-time model for a dying fashion company. Now, who should I believe?”

“Lila’s more than just a model. Her mom’s an ambassador. She saved Jagged Stone’s kitten, does green initiatives with Prince Ali, she knows tons of famous people, half of Hollywood!”

There’s a burst of laughter behind Tony Stark. I shift my eyes to the girl standing there. “You’re kidding me, right? Any real Jagged Stone fan knows that he’s allergic to fur and he has a pet crocodile. Have you people never heard of Google?”

I frown at her. “Who are you?”

The girl shakes her head. “MJ.”

“Why are you here?”

“I’m competing, like most of the kids here. Why are you here?”

I purse my lips. “Moral support.”

MJ snorts and turns her attention to Tony Stark. “Hey, Tony, judges are about to announce winners. You gonna stand with your interns or keeping talking to Lie-la and the blogger?”

“I’m coming MJ. Honestly, no respect from any of you anymore.”

I watch the pair of them walk away, mouth still open.

“Uhhh...dudettes? What just happened?”

Marinette’s POV

My dad comes up next to me as the head judge walks up to the stage microphone. “See any interesting projects?”

Dad pulls off his sunglasses. “Saw a few good projects, gave some applications.”

Uncle Rodney reaches over and hands me a cup of coffee. “Corrupting the next generation. Honestly, Tony.”

Dad rolls his eyes. “Your classmates are here.”

“I figured some of them would be. Max did make an A.I.”

“And Lila Rossi tried to pass off one of your projects as her own.”

“Which one? I know about the app. Lawyers will be serving papers to her mother today or tomorrow. Lila will get the papers after her Mother. The lawyers are waiting for a call from the French team.”

“The wireless charger. Judges disqualified her.”

“Let me guess, I’m at fault.” “Apparently, you’re corrupting and lying to my daughter.”

I roll my eyes. “Of course I am.”

“Ladies and Gentlemen!” The judge nods to us all. “We would like to thank you all for coming to this year’s International Technology Showcase in Washington D.C. We’ve seen many good inventions this year. However, some stood out against the others. As you all know we had 3 main Divisions: High School Student, Undergraduate Student, and Graduate Student. We will also be naming two honorable mentions in each category. These three categories are divided up by education level. Each division winner will receive a $150,000 prize, with the honorable mentions receiving a $50,000 prize. The last Divison is an opt-in group, with no age restrictions, but much higher expectations. They will also have two honorable mentions. The winner will receive a $250,000 prize, with the honorable minions receiving a $100,000 prize.”

“Now, the winner of the High School Division is Cao Xia!” There’s a round of applause from the room. A young woman walks up on stage and accepts a gold-colored award. “The honorable mentions in the High School Division are Matei Stolojan and Adama Ndione.” The applause continues as the two students walk up and accept two silver-colored awards.

“The winner of the Undergraduate Student Division is Penny Foster!” The applause continues as the winner comes up and accepts their award. “The honorable mentions in the Undergraduate Divison are Alvaro Bolívar and Zhang Min.” They both come up and accept their rewards before continuing off the stage.

“The winner of the Graduate Student Division is Yuliya Kozlov.” An older student comes up and accepts the gold award again. “The honorable mentions for the Graduate Student Divison are Ulrich Wächter and Kimura Shika.” Another two older students come up to take their awards.

“Now, the honorable mentions for the Professional Divison are Feza Bashara and Peter Parker.” I give Peter a big smile as he goes up and accepts his award with a student who looks a few years older than him. Both of them walk off the stage. “Last but not least, the winner of the Professional Divison is Marinette Dupain-Cheng-Stark.”

I smile at my Dad as I walk up the stage. The applause from earlier restarts as I take the gold award from the man at the front and progress over to the collection of other winners.

“Congratulations, Mari!” Peter is smiling widely as he holds his award. I give him a wide smile as his Aunt May starts taking pictures.

A minute later, my father is next to me, hugging me. “That’s my girl!” Rodney managed to snag a few family pictures before the reporters that are present.

“Mr. Stark, are related to Marinette? Is this your daughter?”

“Mr. Stark, why is young daughter just now becoming public?”

“Mr. Stark, do you plan to leave your company to your daughter?”

The questions continue for several more seconds before my father sticks a hand up. “One at a time, please!” The Reporters all take a step back and several raise their hands. My Father nods to one.

“Mr. Stark. Is Ms. Marinette Dupain-Cheng-Stark your daughter?”

“She is.”

“Why is this the first time we’ve seen her?”

I smile widely. “I wanted a normal, quiet childhood. Dad tends to attract a lot of attention. However, I’ve recently finished Lycée, France’s version of high school, and I will be starting at MIT in the fall.”

My father nods to a different reporter now. “Ms. Ansley?”

“If I may ask, how old are you, Marinette?”

“I’m 15.”

A different reporter gets a nod. “Do you plan to get involved in your Father’s company?”

“I already am, I’ve given a few invention designs in the past, mostly small things or parts of projects. However, recently I’ve patented a few larger products, like my contactless wireless phone charger and some new ultra-resistant, flexible fabric for firefighters and other first responders. I don’t plan to take a business role anytime soon.”

My father nods to another reporter. The man takes a step forward, holding out his mic. “Marinette, how-

Actually you know what would've been better than filing those and having the uproar happen when they're somehow given next year's schedule before the current school year is even over(seriously what the fuck?)

They have Sabrina do the forgeries. And they talk to the teachers about how they think something's a little odd with the paperwork and would like to have meetings to discuss it. Even citing how their own papers had been messed with! That's not what they put down but it's what's on the forms they got from Marinette! Perhaps there was miscommunication? Or maybe someone's just playing a prank on them, but they should fix this and double check every form!

Then they and the teachers and principal have meetings with each individual student over their forms.

Lila/Chloé/Staff: "So why'd you choose X class?"

Student: "What? No, I chose Y class? What the hell?"

And they keep doing that through every student. Lila and Chloé pretending to be sympathetic and encouraging throughout the whole way like 'Juleka I really hope that this was a mistake you're not really hoping to be held back you're a wonderful girl and you're so bright in class!'.

Until they get to Marinette who just.

Lila/Chloé/Staff: "So why'd you choose X class?"

Mari: "Oh well *insert beginnings of a ramble here*!"

Lila/Chloé/Staff: "Wait. You.... actually picked X class? There wasn't a mistake?"

Mari: "Why would there be a mistake? You all know it's what I want?"

and then it's super sus to the /teachers/ before the class.

And ofc the class will talk and they'll ask around and find that Mari's was the only one not tampered with and it's like 'bruh the fuck?'

They'd still find it OOC for Mari but it would point to her a lot better.

I'm really happy how this one turned out. I got really creative with all the descriptions, and I still think the pun in the title is genius.

The Hardest Things Come After

My most successful fic so far, and the first one I wrote for the fandom. Even though I think there's a lot that needs improving now, two years later, there are so many bits I'm still pleased with. I'm proud that I was able to maintain a regular posting schedule and finish the story in 6 months.

The Adrien and Marinette Show (Truman Show AU)

One of my favourite premises. I'm happy with most of it. I'm going to be quite proud (and relieved! and sad) when it's finished. More than most of my other fics, it reflects a lot of my emotions and worldview.

Those We Leave Behind

Another one of my favourite premises. It's still early days, but I'm super excited to see how the story continues to pan out. There are so many parts I can't wait to write. It's proving to be really challenging already, but I'm determined. It's the story that's closest to my heart.

All That Is Necessary (Gone AU)

Co-written with @uptoolateart! It's SO much fun to write. I love the premise. I love how we're developing the characters and their relationships. I love how hilarious and crazy it is despite the horrific situation the characters find themselves in. I am giddily looking forward to so many scenes.

Breaking Free - the whole series

I'm cheating here, because I'm listing a multi-book series, but I can't help it. I'm super proud of it. It started as a one-shot of Adrien and Marinette finding Gabriel's basement, and then it spiralled hard. It begins right after Strike Back. From there, it's a complicated, twisted and very bumpy ride.

'How did you think this up?' my BF beta has asked me many times. I don't know, guys. It just seemed obvious at the time 😆

This was my 'getting back into writing' book, after a lengthy creative hiatus / identity crisis. I churned out chapters because I needed to get back in the game and rediscover myself artistically. Then I went back and edited the whole thing a couple years later, to make it better (and expand it by about 20k words).

It became a series because I had requests for sequel scenes. Again, a couple one-shot ideas spiralled, and I merged them with another premise that had been kicking around in my head - Adrien, years later, trying to heal from everything as an adult and find himself as a father with his own teenage son.

That then spiralled again, and I ended up exploring Felix in depth, too, and pushing all the sentibeing stuff to extremes. The whole concept for Book 4 intimidated the hell out of me as soon as I thought of it. I was so worried I wouldn't be able to do it justice. Writing it was sometimes physical torture. But in the end, I think Book 4 contains what might be the best chapter I've ever written for anything in my life.

Still, the saga continues! Book 5 starts posting in 4 weeks. I've set myself another crazy challenge with that one, but I am determined to pull it off. I also have ideas for a few one-shots to collect in a volume I'm calling Book 6. The series is going to be like 700k words by the time I'm done. Maybe more. Will I ever truly finish this thing? I don't know. I fell so hard into the universe I created, and it's going to be hard to let it go. I fully expect to cry when I post the epilogue to Book 5.

Book 1 was also how I really got into this fandom and started making friends. Honestly, that book changed my life. Yeah...I'm gonna cry.

Dreaming Wide Awake

This was my follow-up to the S5 finale. The show is now going its own way, but I'm still so proud of how all the tension and emotions turned out in this fic. Again, the story is complex. It's also really surreal, and I think the battle scenes are some of my best. I was soooo nervous about the reader response to one of the big moments in it, but the unanimous reaction was everything I'd hoped for.

How the Heart Learns to Beat Again

A backstory from Nathalie's POV. It starts with her at age 25, as the sole survivor of an old magical order, going on extraordinary adventures seeking legendary artefacts. Then she meets the Agrestes, loses her magic, and gets roped into a new crazy world.

The story also explores Gabriel and Emilie, Colt and Amelie, and Adrien and Felix's creation / infancy. Book 2 (covering Emilie's death and how Gabriel and Nathalie start using the butterfly and peacock) starts posting on Monday. I think these fics are possibly the most mature writing I've ever done. There's a certain 'voice' to them that stands out from my other writing.

Finding a Way (Jurassic Park AU)

This is my most successful fic, so far. It's half goofy / romantic and half tense / action - with a lot of gore. I thought it would be total crack, but it took on a life of its own and became much more serious. There was something magical about how it all came together. I'm planning a sequel, but I need to get through a few other big fics first.

Voyage! Tales of the USS Miraculous (Star Trek Crossover)

This is so far from finished, but I'm having a blast writing it. It's basically all planned out and going to be mammoth when it's done. There's a little of everything in it, and you don't need to know Star Trek to understand it. I'm loving the reader speculations over what might be going on.
