funny thing about me when i read fic i have a fairly low unhappy ending/angst all the way through tolerance and usually heavily curate my own reading experience but when it comes to the actual IPs and series i cannot get enough of reading depressing things and sad stories (even if it just spurs me to want to imagine those characters to be happy and doing random unserious things) . same goes for writing actually. i kinda just immediately lean into goofy humour or pain or both

#this isnt a compliment to my own writing which is super rusty rn but to me ideal media has a perfect split of pain and funnies #the funnies make the pain hit harder and vice versa #there is the meme and there is also the horrors #yet another thing holic made super clear to me growing up #and ikuhara #like it feels weird when i don't get that balance #or when people r surprised goofy surreal media can also hurt #some ppl just act like its pointless whiplash just for the sake of being weird #it isnt #unless somekne fucks up along the way #but yeah i noticed funnily enough my mind balances the scales even when media isnt like that #super depressing all the way thru media will make me cherish and put emphasis on the few parts or hcs that are unserious #and mostly unserious media might make me think hard about moments where usually goofy characters show raw emotional collapse #its also something ive noticed where sometimes ill ship a pairing and everyone else will want it to be super edgy and dark and ill just wan #t them to go on a cute date or something #lol #idk #ramblings
