36. Which Pokémon took you the longest to bond with?

i dont know what the circumstances were exactly, but i found oort lost in the forest edge near a rest stop on the skyroute when she was an elgyem. she was obviously scared out of her wits, and ORIGINALLY i was going to catch her and hand her over to the rangers as a lost pokemon (elgyem are occasionally seen in the valleys, but never in the mountains), but...well, obviously that didnt take

shes always been kind of aloof and was scared of everything when she was first caught, including me and ESPECIALLY tonic (despite his best efforts to seem nonthreatening). so that complicated things with me trying to bond with her and later on show her what pokemon battles were all about. even now as a beheeyem she still prefers to keep to herself most of the time, but i can tell that she at least quietly enjoys my company when i hang out with her

40. Favorite thing about your partner Pokémon?

HM. this is a toughie. im not sure if i can pinpoint exactly ONE thing

tonic has come a LONG way since i first caught him as a duskull. i changed his name not too long ago (he used to be named saturn, but i changed it when i changed my own name to gin) so i COULD go the cop-out way and say that my favorite thing about him is our name combo, buuuuut that wouldnt be doing him justice at all

i think my favorite thing about him is how gentle he is. dusknoir get a bad rep (thanks pokedex) and are usually seen as giant ghostly brutes, but tonic has gone out of his way on countless occasions to take the gentler option in any given situation, and he enjoys the little things in life that others may take for granted. he likes playing dress-up with mackie. he LOVES seeing the views of the skyroute. and when leave work i see him sniffing the morning dew on the grass

oh deerling... stories, you say? well, i hope things have calmed down since the past few years...

there are lots of friends who are misunderstood, however... i believe it's universal for most trainers to dislike zubats... they are nocturnal and very sensitive to noise, so the sounds of footsteps and the echo startles them and sends them into a panic!

they are very loyal and affectionate, as well as extremely social! they live in large groups, so they are accustomed to living with company. they have no problem adjusting to being a part of a team. they also enjoy music! singing when entering caves will help calm them down, just be mindful of your volume. :]

4. What region would you most like to visit if ever given the chance? — paldea ! hoenn as well, since i’ve heard it’s so gorgeous there <3

Thoughts on the legendaries of another region? — so apparently there’s like. magical mist forest dogs here? but little is known about them. galarians are hilarious cause all the local folklore and strangeness here is treated w such nonchalance? like wdym ur heading off the MASSIVE CASTLE to chill later?

Pokéblocks, Poké Puffs, Poffins, Poké Beans, Curry, or Sandwiches? — poke puffs all the wayyy omg i love those things so much. my family’s a poke-puff-making one, and i grew up making n eating them ^^ i make em on the regular. apparently there r some galarian native pokémon who’ve never had poke puffs!!? gonna fix that

2: do you tend to keep your pokemon in- or out-of-ball? are there any exceptions to this?

luckily none of my pokemon are too aggressive or rowdy, so i can afford to have them out of their balls at home or when its not too crowded ^_^ when we're out in a crowded area or trying to get somewhere usually macaron is the only one out tho nshdksjf

4: are there any pokemon that live in your area that scare you/squick you out?

im not sure theres not rlly any that i dont like???like theres haunter that live around here and theyre spooky by nature of being a ghost type but.i like ghost types XD

i think my fav types to read about are poison and fairy types but honestly... and don't tell the other types heehee ... i think my fav to actually interact with in the field are bug types!! so cute

Dusk stones are gorgeous. I have one I use as a paperweight and a few stashed somewhere, I have a uh, friend who tends to give me those as gifts

13. Thoughts on your home region’s Pokémon League?

Classist and hierarchal as hell, you have to get through a streaming test and have good academic grades or exceptional skills to even qualify. It's not the free and easy adventure it is in other regions. There's a reason I dropped out of the league back home.

Hoping it changes soon, um, as with the rest of Porii's social systems.

Gin never did like the city all that much.

To her, it always gave off this aura of...artificiality, fakeness. Like everything was just part of one grand, ongoing act, from the pedestrians scurrying down the sidewalks and streets like Durants, to the humble Pokemart cashiers putting on a veneer of joyous humanity to cope with the soul-crushing retail worker depression that burned like a pyre within them. Nothing felt right. Nothing felt real. There was always something happening, always too much hustle, always far too much bustle-- and everything was constantly drowned under waves of neon, screens, and corporate ads, the puppet masters that seemed to control this eternal play.

To make matters worse, she couldn't even have her grim compatriot Tonic floating beside her; she was already struggling to bob and weave her way through the sidewalk procession as is. Where were all these people coming from? Who were they? She'd never seen a crowd that looked so homogenous, yet so different at the individual level. Were they actors too, just here to walk around and inflate the pedestrian count and give a façade of productive industry?

...Probably not. Maybe it was just culture shock.

Gin tilted her bucket hat down to shade her eyes from the stinging sun-- and the wandering looks of Nimbasa's residents. On the front of the hat, a cartoonish eyeball looked out for her, scanning the area with its sightless gaze. She wore an unbuttoned pinstripe jacket, revealing a faded graphic tee that she'd gotten from a Durant Durant concert several years prior, and her relatively pristine slim-fit black denim pants seemed to be at odds with her heavy, weathered, dirt-dusted workers' boots.

It was her usual outfit for going out into the city, and considering some of the shit she saw walking past, she took solace in the fact that she probably didn't stand out all too bad.

'Man,' she thought, checking her phone again. 'Any updates?'

One, from that Sonsan girl. 'If you guys see a Dragonite flying above Nimbasa City...'

Oh, good arc.

Gin looked up, squinting in the cold glare of the sun, briefly shuffling herself out of the afternoon lunch crowds into a relatively quiet side street. Flocks of Pidove and Murkrow soared high above the storefronts, but she was looking for something more...orange.

She began typing back.

'im at the corner of, uh...earthen and singerpuff,' she started, before realizing that Sunshine probably wouldn't know what the hell she was talking about. 'theres a chansey supply here'.

well, I don’t know much, as it was only a trip, but I learned a bit. At some point in history, it seems many different legendary Pokémon were roaming their at the time, so many myths formed about them. It also looks like while the population is quite small now, from all the ruins and ancient structures, the islands were most likely highly populated places. I just find their history very interesting.
