first of all... how dare you. i chased after this bunny the whole day 🧍‍♀️

my thoughts

1. it's all just a big misunderstanding (so lex says)

2. metropolis pretends to believe their resident billionaire but they all see how whipped he is for his twink husband. so whipped that he went and created a son for him (nothing wrong here, they rather have malewife lex luthor instead of villain lex luthor trying to kill superman and half the city)

3. superman is actually jealous that this random korean suddenly has the full attention (he whines about it to bruce. bruce is very close considering breaking his own "no killing" rule)

4. people think lex created connor because he loves jinwoo sm that he wanted a kid who shares both their dna

4.5 everyone is wrong and it's actually jinwoo who created connor

5. lex luthor is now one of the most respected villains in the masked world. just because vandal savage let it slip that recruiting lex to their cause (the light) would also bring in the shadow monarch

9. connor still becomes part of the young justice. his dad (jinwoo) thinks it's good for him to have friends with similar interests (unhinged kids with powers ready to wreck havoc and bash some villains)

Connor is already lucky enough that Sung Jinwoo thought about but gave up on the idea of Connor learning the piano or any sort of musical instrument.

Sung Jinwoo would be the strict(er) parent. Beru is the fun parent. Lex is... Lex. Lex is the one figuring out how the chores in the house will get done (aka what cleaning service to use, how often to have things cleaned, etc.) and is the one feeding people. Sung Jinwoo forgets to eat because he grew up poor and skipping meals so Jinah could eat more (plus Gates don't exactly have much edible food). Connor still needs his special diet.

What else... Oh! Superboy gets caught on camera arriving to the scenes in socks, no shoes. Sometimes he's in too much of a rush that he's wearing his house slippers as opposed to proper footwear when it comes to saving the world again.

Sung Jinwoo took Conner with him out to buy groceries. Or to be more accurate, Lex has groceries already handled, but Sung Jinwoo still likes to visit the small Asian supermarkets and inspect the Asian vegetables by hand. Plus it's a great way to immerse himself in the interesting culture of Korean diaspora immigrants and also observe Asian American culture (and perhaps things to avoid when Asian Parenting Conner in America).

Like sure, Sung Jinwoo could just teleport to Korea to do the shopping with Conner, but he wants to see and experience the unique perspective of being an immigrant. He wants to go glamping and pretend to be an Asian immigrant learning how to adapt to living in a foreign culture and still retaining and preserving his Asian roots. Plus, Conner certainly can't teleport himself, so it's up to Sung Jinwoo to teach his son on how and where to find the bits and crumbs of Korean heritage in America, particularly when Sung Jinwoo is gone. (Am I even making sense here?)

I would like to think that in such an AU and context, Superboy gains his name because of bad time and bad place. Villain attacks are always bad. But his first public showing as a hero, he was actually just hanging outside of the Asian Supermarket, kind of overwhelmed by all the smells of the market - the fish swimming in the tanks, the crabs still alive and attacking each other and the prongs that people use to scoop up the blue crabs into paperbags to purchase, the smell of raw pork blood and apparently what's also pig ears?! - then the villain showed up in Chinatown.

And he went and scooped up an elderly Chinese grandpa out of the villain's way.

"Good kid. Su-su-super boy!" The elder said in stuttering English. It was clear that this old man probably knew like 15 English words and that Conner knew zero Chinese. Korean, he could give it a go. Not Chinese though. But the old man's meaning was pretty clear with the big thumbs up he flashed and the pat on Conner's head before he hobbled away with his cane.

Some person with a camera filmed it all and then the internet just went and assumed that "Superboy" was his name, not a person's stilted attempt at English.

As for marriage or divorce... perhaps one of the benefits was speeding up Sung Jinwoo's American citizenship (and also forging an identity because this isn't his original world.)
