Cool breeze and the heady scent of exhaust. Something curls the air, copper and inhumane. A muscle car pulled to a stop on the side of a desert highway. Dreary motel lights offer the only glimpse of civilization. Under them stand a man with a lit cigarette and dark stains upon his collar. Where he came from and where he will go is unknown but pray he doesn’t see your name on a shining metal tag.

Inspirations: Hollywood, the dark side of objects, the dark side of concepts, neon signage, cold desert nights, thunderstorms, floods, droughts, desperados and delinquents, greed, power, recognition, obsession, addiction, falling from grace, humanity, vintage cars and signage, wandering, regaining purpose, fame and infamy, resilience, the wonder of a journey, motel nights, detective fiction, anti-heroes, gunfights, dirty deeds done dirt cheap, forgetting and forgiving, fear of death, fear of being alone, fear of abandonment, loss and life, love

Inspired by driving up and down the infamous streets of downtown Los Angeles and the boulevards of Hollywood, where the lights shine so brightly it can be easy to forget the blood dealings beneath the masks.

Basic Premise: This was an excuse to explore Alfred's character's more “negative” aspects. Possessive, addictive, arrogant, and stubborn, to name just a few. The tale of how a golden boy lost his wings by his own hands, head too full of the life he’d achieved. A detective who started with bright eyes and a well-meaning heart, he got his dream, but the recognition he received never quieted his heart, instead he only wanted more and lost his path. So now, despite being the best in the business, he struggles with the fallout of a messy divorce, friends and family estranged by his own behaviors, addictions to sex and alcohol in attempts to fill the pit, and his lost humanity to the day-ins and day-outs of his work. Strangers along the way inadvertently point him in the right direction, friends new and old, wandering aimlessly on assignments and learning to once more become familiar, reflecting upon his own choices in life as he must grapple with his new realities. Alfred must learn that there is more than one way to become a man.

i tried to watch bojack horseman once and it put me in a hella bad place slkdjfah i would like to try watching it again someday when i am apparently not a weak motherfucker.

but it is supposed to be an anti-hero story!

i would like to treat it as if its an episodic tv series yknow? in a way. not really,,, but considering the inspiration for the au, it fits. the theme is "a horse with no name" by america. the credits, while they would probably change, are currently "25 or 6 to 4" by chicago.

aa thank you :sob: it's kinda my first true solo homegrown au. but i'm excited to be able to show you guys more of it. i'm just surprised even this many people have been interested in it! i know it's not a standard theme for the fandom or the character, at least not that i've ever seen.

i would like to make some type of mood board or pinterest board for the au. if i do i'll probably share it here. idk.
