July 14, Day 1

Nabatame Juryo Debut, Oops all upsets!

Top two division results and more spoils below the break (for our friends in different time zones or who can't watch live)

There were so many major upsets tonight, it was a very dramatic first day of the 2024 July Grand Sumo Tournament! Nabatame won his juryo debut, he is looking awesome and very strong. It wasn't an easy match but he held his ground and overpowered Fujiseiun. Uncle and Stunto (announcers) even talked about him and his match quite a bit in between makuuchi bouts. Wakatakakage, Onosato and Kotozakura losing took everyone by surprise. Terunofuji knew we couldn't take anymore upsets and closed out the night with a win against Hiradoumi.

I really wanted to write a bit more about everything but I started a new job this week and it zapped all my attention and spare energy. Let me know what you thought of the matches in the comments, who is your favorite to win the whole thing now? I am still rooting for Kotozakura, I really love his style. Tonight was not a good one for any of my fantasy picks though >.<

So I had this small idea in my head for quite some time and wanted to share some details on it.

Miles learned Ansatsuken/Shorin-Ryu by Ryu in Japan at age 14.

Gwen learned Judo/Ballet in Paris by Manon at age 10.

Both competed in the Teens Fighting Tournament in New York Miles being 15, Gwen being 16.

Both made it to the Grand Finals where their will face each other.

This is where their rivalry starts.

Gwen won the Grand Finals by using the Tomoe Nage on Miles.

After the Tournament Peter met Miles and wanted to train him on being quick and complex instead of being patience as Judo won’t give you the time of day.

One year has pass and Miles & Gwen transfer to Brooklyn Visions Academy, Gwen bumps into Miles asking him if he wants to join her team in the Tag Tournament.

Miles agrees on one request after they win the Tag Tournament he wants a rematch with her.

Gwen agrees teasing Miles if he wants to be put on his back that badly again she’ll be happy to Oblige.

Miles joins and now team consists of Miles, Gwen, Pavitr, and Hobie.

Day two in Tokyo

Up and out by 9.30am and we headed to Morishita where we headed to the Basho museum, it had a beautiful and green garden which was lovely and cool in the 28 degree heat!

Hopped in a cab to Ryogoku the home of Sumo! A little lunch and then half an hour playing pachinko where a lovely older local man helped us understand and play the game. We spent ¥1000 each and won back ¥200, got a little way to be pro at this!

Then it was on to the grand sumo tournament! First up the Juryo ranking sumo wrestlers. A quick tour round the arena and into the museum we then headed back to our seats for the main event, the Makuuchi (senior) devision. Around 14 fights before the one everyone was looking forward too.

We then headed back to Shinjuku to Teppan Baby for dinner, some more traditional seating as we had to remove our shoes and sit on the floor although there was a pit for our feet/legs. Beautiful tepanyaki noodles with fried egg and cabbage, Michael had pork and squid and I had shrimp and garlic!

Then a walk round an arcade full of claw and gacha machines on 3 floors and then arcade games on the 4th floor. For two ¥100 goes I managed to win this mini ramen bowl, very proud of myself!

A swift draft larger then headed back to hotel to bed!

Let's learn about the top four ranks in sumo, featuring a match between Meisei and Kirishima

Yokozuna : The highest rank of sumo wrestler, above ozeki; a grand champion. The current and only yokozuna is Terunofuji, of Mongolia. Though there are no strictly fixed rules on becoming yokozuna, it is typically expected that someone of the ozeki rank have won two championships first before the promotion.

Ozeki : A sumo wrestler ranking just below yokozuna and above sekiwake. There are currently two ozeki, and three ozeki hopefuls. (We'll see what happens after this current tournament.) Above is one of the two ozeki, Kirishima, the other being Takakeisho. An ozeki is expected to keep a winning record in order to remain at the ozeki rank. (That is, a minimum of eight wins over fifteen days.) Two consecutive tournaments with losing records will lead to a demotion.

Sekiwake : The third-highest rank in professional sumo, and one of the sanyaku ranks. (Sanyaku being the ranks of komusubi to yokozuna.) The three current sekiwake, Hoshoryu, Daieisho, and Wakamotoharu, all have a chance to reach the ozeki rank by the end of this tournament, depending on their winning records. One must have 33 wins over the course of the last three tournaments, plus a minimum of 10 wins in the most recent tournament to be considered for the rank of ozeki.

Komusubi : A sumo wrestler of the lowest sanyaku rank, below sekiwake and above maegashira. Kotonowaka and Abi are the current Komusubi. With an impressive enough winning record they could be promoted to sekiwake (provided there is room for more sekiwake). Someone of the maegashira rank with an impressive enough winning record may be considered for promotion to Komusubi.

Nishikigi vs Nishikifuji - monoii & then bonus sumo because it was too close to call. Nishikifuji got win 2nd time around.

Didn't expect Abi to play Kotozakura like he did but tomorrow is going to be pretty bonkers. Chaos Basho!!

Also I'm sorry if Itto is ooc i don't have him and didn't have a lot of info to go off of but I hope you like them! Now with that lets begin!

It was cold outside, the soft crystal clear snow had begun to fall and turned everything into a giant canvas of pure white. Children were playing in the wintery blanket in so many different ways. Some made snowballs with friends and family, others skated across the frozen lakes and ponds in their area. However in the land of Inazuma where the Raiden Shogun had finally revoked the senkoku decree there was a much crazier event going on.

With the help of the Tenrou commission and the grand Narukami shrine a Winter contest was being held to celebrate the first winter in over 500 years. Those who wished to participate only had to sign up with them. However not everyone was happy with this; right in the middle of the town square A very familiar oni with long white hair and bright ruby colored eyes was on his knees staring at a (H/C) Person in (Winter outfit ) while looking like a kicked puppy. “Please (your name) enter the competition with me!!! We would totally crush the competition!!!!” he whined as the people around them began to stare and whisper.

“If i enter with you then we have to do something i want to do in return.” (your name) replied sternly glaring down at the oni. To be perfectly honest their friends had known for a long time that they had a crush on the big pile of loudness and cheerfulness that was itto for a long time. He was silly but fiercely protective of his friends, while he did cause a ruckus and was always getting into trouble with the kujo clan if someone was in trouble itto was there to help. He had even helped them out once when they lost their weapon and got attacked by treasure hoarders and ever since they had a big crush on him.

“Sure! I'm down for anything (your name) but first we gotta join that contest!!!” he says excitedly as he picks (your name) up and places them on his back for a piggy back ride and begins the race to the contest entry stand. It took about fifteen minutes to get to the contest stall even with itto running as fast as inhumanly possible, but when they finally managed to get there a very voluptuous fox yokai with bright cotton candy colored hair stared coldly at the two with a smile. “Welcome are you two here for the couples snowball fight?” she asks with a smirk.

“Hell yeah!! Me and my best bud (your name) are gonna beat the opponents in the dust!” itto yelled loudly as he slammed his feet down like a sumo wrestler and shook his head wildly. “Wait! Itto you didn't say it was a couples snowball tournament!!!” (your name) yelled in shock as a dark blush appeared on their face. “I mean you're my best friend! Why wouldn't I have asked you to play with me.” itto asked, looking down at them curiously.

“All right then letrs do this.” they replied with a small smile as yae nodded and handed the two the entry form. “Sign this and then once your finished your to make your way out of the city and defeat all of the other couples.

No visions are allowed to be used however igloos and tactics of other kinds are allowed. I will warn you that if I catch itto using that bull of his to knock out barricades you're going to be disqualified.” she warns seriously.

The two nod rapidly, not wanting to upset the guji of the Narukami shrine. “Good, then have fun you two.” she says shoving the two away so another couple could enter. “Well (your name) lets go! We've got igloos to make and ammo to create!!” he says excitedly. (your name) nodded, taking a deep breath to not freak out over the fat that this could technically be a date! Date or not they were gonna win and maybe just maybe they could actually get itto to join them for an actual date!!!

The two managed to grab some coats and gloves from one of the clothing stalls before they walked out and began to find the perfect spot to set up their barricade and make some snowballs. As itto did the barricade (your name) was trying to make snowballs but every time they did it just disintegrated into a pile of mush causing them to sigh in frustration. “Hey hey hey!! What's wrong? You can't be down yet, we've just started!” itto asked as he bent down and noticed that there arent alot of snowballs made yet. “Are you having problems with the snow?” he asked with a chuckle.

“Just a bit..i've never done this before and it won't stick together.” (your name) says in a small voice as small strands of (your hair color) came out of there (favorite hair style) as they glared at the white substance with irritation. “Mind if I help you?” He asked curiously when he noticed that a piece of (your hair color) had come out of there (favorite hairstyle) he gently picked up the strand and placed it behind your ear with a big goofy smile. “You know you're really (pretty/Handsome/Amazing) right?” he says with a proud smile on his face as he lets his hand fall back onto his knee.

“Thanks Itto..you're really handsome too I mean you're really cool!! But yeah if you want you can show me how to do this, I mean we need these but like you know what i mean” they reply nervously with a small laugh as a small blush was beginning to creep up their face at the gesture. “YEAH your right my bad i'm weird haha here let me show you how to make a snowball!” he says happily as he scoops up about a quarter of snow and starts to pat it around in his hand pressing it firmly but not too firmly that it squishes and smiles showing (your name) the perfectly made snowball.

“Wow you're really good at doing that” (your name) replies in awe of the fluffy white ball. “Here we can make one together and then you try.” he says, taking their hands into his own scoops up some more snow. The two then start to compact the snow into a snowball like shape which made (your name) smile when it was finished. Their hands warmed each other as mist showed there every breath as Itto chuckled and let go. “See not that hard right?” he asks with that same goofy smile as always.

“You're right, it's actually really easy! And a lot of fun! Thank you!” (your name) says happily as they smiled as brightly as the sun and began to make a bunch more snowballs. As the two began to create more and more of the cold misiles. Other couples began to slowly come and create their own forts and snowballs. Others eventually got bored and made snowmen leading to them being disqualified instantly. At around the thirty minute mark Lady Yae and Lord Ayato appeared together in comfy snow clothing and had a giant gong and stick behind them.

“May this year's Couples snowball fight BEGIN!!” both well-influenced members of society yelled at once as snowballs began to fly back and forth. “YA WHOO IT'S ITTOS TIME TO SHINE!!” he yelled excitedly as he began to throw the snowballs at their opponents as fast as he could. “Hey (your name!) go attack that base over there!” itto yells pointing to a forte on the right as several snowballs came his way and he ducked under the forte to avoid being hit.

“Are you sure?! I can't run that fast!” (your name) yelled nervously but took a deep breath and raced out of the fort with a snowball in hand. “You got this (your name!) don't worry i'll cover you!” he yells excitedly as he manages to counter several of the snowballs from hitting them. “Here goes nothing!” (your name) yelled as they threw the snowball with all of their might and managed to hit one of the inazuman couples in the face.

“That's cold!” the girl that (your name) hit yelled as they fell on there butt and tried to uncover their face from the snow. “Yes!!” (Your name) exclaimed as they were about to race back to itto only for a snowball to be thrown straight at them at blinding speed. “Look out (Your name!) itto yelled as he jumped over the ice fort and landed on top of them taking the blow for them. “Are you ok itto?!” they ask as they shake the snow out of their hair and laugh at how much snow got caught in the oni’s hair.

The one and only Oni shivered and began to shake the snow out of his long white and red tipped mane. “Haha! I'm great! That was fun actually are you ok though i landed on you pretty harshly.” he asks with concern laced in his voice as he began to look them over for any sign of an accidental injury. “I'm fine, but because of me we lost.” (your name) replies with a sigh as they get up and dust off their clothes and held out a hand to help the oni up. “Need help getting up itto?” they ask curiously. “Thanks (your name) itto exclaims with a very loud laugh of joy as he gets up with the help of (your name).

“I know we didn't win but can we still hang out a little longer?” they ask curiously as the two left the snow covered area and began to make their way back into the city. “Sure thing!! How about we get some hot chocolate and ill walk you home along the way your beginning to look a little blue (your name)” itto replies with a smile as he takes off his giant coat and wraps it around them before picking them up bridal style.

“Itto put me down!” they yelled blushing darkly as itto just carried them like the most precious jewel in inazuma. “Relax (your name) it's not far and besides I like carrying you it makes me feel strong.” he says with a chuckle as he refused to put them down and held them even closer to his chest despite their protests. “Alright but i'm carrying the hot chocolates.” (your name) replies with a grumble as they got comfy and enjoyed the ride.

Itto smiled as he began to make his way to the chocolate stand, when they arrived he gently set them down onto solid ground and chuckled. “HELLO can i get two hot chocolates WIITH extra (favorite toppings) please my lady!” itto exclaims loudly. The woman at the stall smiled and nodded, smiling brightly. “You got it, two hot chocolates with (favorite toppings) coming right up!” once the hot chocos were complete the woman handed to the two

“Thank you! How much Mora do we owe you?” (your name) asked curiously as they took out their wallet to pay for the hot chocolates. The woman just smiled and waved her hands in a shoo like manner with a giggle. “No charge this time it's on the house for couples like yourselves.” the seller replied happily. “Alright but next time we stop by we pay extra.” itto says cheerfully as (your name) laughed at the twos bartering.

“Deal young man! Now go enjoy yourselves.” the woman said sternly as the two nodded and walked away from the stand. “Thanks for agreeing to hang out with me (your name) you're a lot of fun to be with and I appreciate it, I don't know what i would have done if you didn't.” he says while rubbing the back of his head nervously. “Why do you think I would say no?” (your name) asked curiously stopping behind itto when they were close to their home. “Well I thought you'd say no because I heard you like someone. But there was no way I wasn't gonna try and win you over.” he says seriously as he stared down at them.

“Wait, you like me?!” they exclaimed in shock trying not to squeak in a higher pitch. “Of course I do! You're amazing! You help me out when others are being jerks. You're funny but at the same time loyal! Who wouldn't like you!” he says passionately as he shakes his head back and forth. It took a minute for them to get out of the stunned phase, but once their brain finally registered what happened they shook their heads and slapped themselves.

“I like you too!! I was just really really nervous about confessing to you.” (your name) confesses back nervously. “Haha really? Well in that case will you be my partner (your name)?” itto asks curiously as he smiles brightly. “Hell yes! I'd love to be your partner!” (your name) exclaims excitedly as they tackle itto into a hug. Itto hugs them back tightly and kisses them on the forehead with a bright smile. “Happy Holidays (your name)” itto whispers into there hair the coco having been long forgotten on the steps of the front door as they enjoyed the comfort of one another during this winter festival.

2024 SEPTEMBER GRAND SUMO AKI BASHO

Tomorrow is day 1 of the September tournament and I have managed to complete the table just in time! See above the table for this upcoming Aki tournament. It is specifically for the Makuuchi division.

I have once again made changes to the table, this time the main alteration being the layout.

I am not sure if this blog gets any views, but if there is even one person who does look, please leave a comment telling me which style of table you prefer and any changes you would like to see in the future.
