5SOS: What Happened This Week | Week 34, August 14-20

Hello! We’re back with the weekly updates! And since 5SOS’ first show of 2017 (right? Their first show?) was the Sunday before this week, I decided to include that day in this summary. Enjoy! -Linda

Sunday August 13, 2017 5SOS had their first ‘festival tour’ show in Incheon, South Korea! They had a couple of meet & greets and played a short but great show. There even was a modpit! 

Monday August 14, 2017 Luke & Michael tweeted their thank you’s about the Incheon show. Luke apparently was very bored and posted some stuff on his instagram story while being in his hotel room. 

Tuesday August 15, 2017 Michael tweeted: ‘trying to sit as far away as possible from other human life forms at all times’. Ashton did a live stream on Instagram. He talked about the fact that he and the boys have recorded 20 new songs! He said that he wishes that they’d go on a small tour in smaller venues when the new album is released. He also talked about how fucked up the world is right now but we as a youth should stick together and not let negativity win. They also traveled to Manila this day. INCHEON –> MANILA 

Wednesday August 16, 2017 The boys had an interview with MMI LIVE. Luke said his dog Petunia is his world. We finally discovered that Calum’s dog isn’t named baby grandpa, but Duke! Michael asked what the original name was, on where Calum said that it was Luke, but then he changed it to Duke.

Thursday August 17, 2017 Today they performed the In The Mix 2017 show. The meet & greet was delayed because they wanted to see DNCE’s set. Ashton posted a picture of himself on Instagram because no one else let him take photo’s of them. They won a platinum award for Sounds Good Feels Good in the Philippines. The show was about half an hour delayed. 2 days later there came meet & greet pictures online. When Zara Larsson finished her set, the boys finally came up! Michael changed the lyrics in Good Girls to ‘She can speak Philippino, I think she’s fluent!’ Calum thanked the crowd for sticking with the band and waiting for so long. Ashton started playing a new song but then stopped and said that they will play it next year… teaser! Luke: ‘I look like a wet dog’ Michael: 'you look life a fish’ Actual convo’s during the show… 

Friday August 18, 2017 MANILA –> TOKYO. This morning the boys traveled to Tokyo, Japan. They met fans at the airport in Manila and in Tokyo. (HQ pictures at the airport in Tokyo: Luke - Ashton - Calum - Michael)

Saturday August 19, 2017 The day of Summer Sonic 2017 in Japan! Japan5sos! The boys posted a lot on their Instagram story. Calum wore a yellow shirt.. more like a blouse. (Yes this was necessary to include into the weekly summary). Luke’s mom Liz and Calum’s mom were seen at the show. Their Sounds Live Feels Live photographer HOEG was there as well! Get ready for great HQ pictures! Just like any other show they had a meet & greet as well.The boys played a great show and were beyond excited to be back in Japan. 

Sunday August 20, 2017 Day 2 of Summer Sonic 2017 in Japan. The boys travelled (I believe by car or train) to Osaka. Their showtime was at the same time as in Tokyo. Again the boys played a great show!... as usual of course. Liz was there again as well. Michael was very active on the Instagram story again. Summer Sonic made awesome HQ pictures of the show. They now have a couple of days off until their next festival show in Stockholm, Sweden at the 24th of August. 

Next week Sandra will write the weekly summary, and she will attend the 5SOS show in Stockholm as well, so get pumped for that! Hope you are all updated about the past week and enjoyed looking back on this first 5SOS Summer Tour week. -Linda
