The hours had dragged on, each second thick with tension. One moment, you and On-Jo had been sitting close, sharing a quiet laugh as she nervously gushed about Bare-Su. Her voice had been light, teasing, but there was something raw in the way she spoke—something unspoken between you, an energy you couldn't quite place. Then, without warning, the world had shattered around you. The laughter faded into the harsh reality of your classmates turned monsters—feral, mindless creatures, chasing you down with a hunger you could feel deep in your bones.
The panic had set in quickly. The hallways had become a maze, the sound of shuffling footsteps and eerie growls echoing around you. You’d lost On-Jo, lost track of everything. Alone, terrified, you had found a classroom to hide in, slamming the door behind you, and for a brief moment, it had seemed like you were safe. But that security was short-lived.
The zombies had found the door, clawing at the wood, their nails scraping as they drew nearer. You knew you couldn’t stay here forever. The fear gripped you, cold and suffocating. You refused to let it end like this—not after you’d had to kill one of your own. You had to survive.
Taking a deep breath, you checked the door one last time. The sounds of the undead grew louder, and you knew it was only a matter of time before they broke through. Without thinking, you darted out of the classroom, running as fast as you could, the adrenaline coursing through your veins. Each step was desperate, each breath labored. Your heart pounded, not from exhaustion, but from the raw terror that fueled you forward.
You spotted the music room just ahead, a glimpse of hope in the chaos. You pushed open the door, slamming it behind you, your back pressed against it for a moment, trying to catch your breath. The quiet that enveloped you felt surreal after the chaos outside. The room was still, untouched, as if time had stopped. The air smelled of dust and old wood, but there was a certain calm to it, a strange peace you didn’t think you’d ever feel again.
You quickly scanned the room. It was empty, save for a broken piano and scattered instruments. In the corner, there was a closet—small, tucked away from view. You moved toward it with quick steps, but then froze. A body lay crushed under the piano, clawing at the air above you in a desperate attempt to eat your brain, a grotesque reminder of the horrors outside.
Shaking your head, you pushed the thought aside. You needed to focus. The last thing you wanted was to think about the things you’d just barely escaped. You moved to the farthest corner of the room, a chair in the corner catching your eye. With a tired sigh, you sank into it, your body aching, your mind still racing.
The room was silent again, and for a brief, fleeting moment, you allowed yourself to relax. Your muscles, tense from the fight and the fear, finally started to release. Your breathing slowed, but it was difficult to let go completely. You hadn’t let yourself rest in what felt like forever. The memories of the chaos—of your friends, of the ones you had lost—were fresh and raw in your mind.
You closed your eyes for just a moment, exhaustion overtaking you. The outside world felt far away, the sounds of the zombies muffled. Here, in this room, you were safe—for now.
And that was all that mattered.

A growing sense of pleasure blooming in your cunt snapped you out of your slumber, each sense reawakening. Your eyes shot downwards, the sight of an all too familiar boy filling your vision as he looked up from his seeming frenzy against your now throbbing clit.
Every part of you screamed to run, to get the hell back in that supply closet. It wasn't normal to be awoken by a tongue fucking into your hole, yet something about the far-from-vanilla scene had you gripping the sides of the chair.
"G-Gwinam.. What the fuck are you do..doing?" You stammered out, chest heaving. Your question was left hung in the air, filling the silence surrounding you. The only sounds able to be heard were the sound of his tongue lapping against your clit. The sight was erotic, your hands scrambling to catch a grip on anything, finally settling for his hair. You tugged instinctively, Gwinam's mouth opening in a groan that reverberated against your pussy.
Your legs twitched, nose and brows scrunching as you felt your climax arriving. The coil in your stomach was tightening, like the feeling at the brink of a rollercoaster. "I-I'm gonna.." You muttered out, lips curling into a pleasure-filled frown.
"You better fucking hold it, you slut," He warned, stopping his abuse against your clit. You grimaced, staring down at him as your hips jutted upwards.
His tongue swirled and delved deeper into your hole, two fingers joining his mouth. Your legs shook, hands pulling tighter on his hair.
Gwinam could feel his hard-on rub against his pants, squeezing his eyes shut as he tried not to focus on the overwhelming pressure he felt as you tugged on the strands of his black hair.
Finally, you couldn't take it anymore.
"I-I can't.." You whined out as the coil inside you unleashed and broke. The rollercoaster had fallen, and your cum was now spilling out onto your thighs and his face.
He licked and slurped at your clit as you rode out your high, a post-nut clarity washing over you as your eyes widened. You were far too loud, and the zombies would surely come. Without thinking, you pushed him down, stumbling as your legs shook while you tried to make your way to the supply closet.
Suddenly, Gwinam's strong forced pushed you against the wall, forearm against your neck. You attempted to claw at him, but he simply used his free hand to pin them upward. "Where y'gonna run now, huh?" He teased, biting down on your neck, "You don't wanna listen? I'll show you how to fucking listen, whore."
A loud slap emitted, a pink stain echoing against your cheek.
Tears brimmed your eyes, slowly falling down your face as a choked sob escaped your throat. You struggled against him, watching the sadistic smirk plaster on his face, eyes widened as the pupils traced the line of your salty cries.
"Please, Gwinam. W-We'll die." You stammered out, eyes widened as you tried to search for any trace of humanity in his eyes.
You didn't find it.
"You're so fucking hot when you cry." He groaned, pushing his mouth against yours roughly. It seemed he didn't have a care whether you kissed back, shoving his tongue down your mouth.
You wanted to resist, really, you did.
But the way he rutted his hips against you knew that you didn't want anything more than for him to fuck your brains out.
A moan fell from your mouth and into his, Gwinam's grip on your neck finally releasing as he used that hand to pull up one of your thighs. In a synchronized daze of horniness, you both grinded against each other in a desperate attempt to chase your high once more.
He grabbed your arms, dragging you to the window. Your face was pressed against it, breasts smushing against the glass as his hands carelessly fondled your ass.
Gwinam stuck in two fingers, stretching your tight pussy for what was to come. "If you cum before I let you, I'll kill you."
You knew he was serious. You just didn't have it in you to care.
One hand snakes up your back, wrapping around your neck as if he was the serpent and you were the forbidden fruit.
Squeezing, you let out a broken sob, purple bruises forming in the shape of his fingertips. He pressed his hips against yours at your cries, eyes rolling to the back of his head. There was nothing more erotic to him than fucking you while there were zombies mere metres away from you.
Agonizingly slow, he pulled your skirt down. With a huff, you impatiently forced the fabric down, pooling at your ankles. With a raspy chuckle, he leaned in close and pulled your ear lobe, "You just really can't wait to have me cum in you, isn't that right?"
He had you at a loss of words, biting your lip until it bled. Gwinam pulled you back by your neck, back pressed against his hard chest, "Answer me when I talk to you, slut," He warned, squeezing tighter.
With all the might you had left in you, you breathed out, "Y-Yes.. I can't wait.." Hearing your tears behind your words had precum dripping and his cock practically begging to burst.
Knowing he wouldn't last much longer if you both kept up with the constant teasing, his hands finally let their grip off you and to his pants. Your hands now pressed against the glass, your head dropped to avoid the painstaking scene of dead and dying classmates on the field outside.
As Gwinam finally dropped his pants and boxers, he let out a freakish grin seeing your distaste toward the chaos outside. Grabbing your jaw, he forced you to stare ahead as his pink tip circled your soaked hole.
It was all too much. You felt your pussy throbbing as you tried to find any way to make the dominance Gwinam was exhibiting less arousing.
"Watch them as I fuck you, Mouse," He purred into your ear, pushing his hard cock in slowly. You felt him stretch your fleshy walls, a soft groan sounding from both your throats simultaneously, "You wanna be good for me, don't you?"
You nodded with a whine, turning back to look at him with round eyes. He ran a finger across your lips before turning your head back to the window, angling his dick at your entrance.
As per his usual style, he gave no time in letting you adjust, immediately setting his rough pace. Each thrust let out a loud slap that echoed, angering the zombie under the piano further.
Your senses were slowly diminishing until you were just as brain-dead as the zombies—minus the dead part. Your hair pulled back by his hand, the one on your jaw now letting go and squeezing your ass. Though he had now let go of your face, you still remained looking out the window.
You wanted to be good for Gwinam. You were good for Gwinam.
Your emotions built up in your chest. Every erotic and devastated emotion. You wept as you watched the few survivors that made a break for the schools gates get eaten alive, slowly cracking and turning.
"Fuck—I love it when you cry, baby," He moaned, throwing his head back as his pace quickened.
Your eyes squeezed shut, feeling the slight overstimulation only enhance the pleasure you were feeling. Gwinam reached down, thumb instantly finding your clit and rubbing fast circles, matching his perfect pace against your throbbing cunt.
Your hole squeezed against his dick, and he 'tsked', "Don't you think about cumming." You nodded, placing a hand on your stomach. You could feel his dick sliding in and out of you, each time stretching your hole so that it would only ever be the right size for him.
He was marking you as his, and you didn't want it any other way.
Gwinam's hips stuttered, pace growing sloppy and uneven, "I'm gonna cum in you, okay baby?" He growled in your ear, licking a stripe down your jaw and to your collarbone, "I'm gonna make you mine, and you're gonna take my cum."
You felt yourself reaching the edge at his words, soft cries releasing from your throat as all you wanted to do was squirt all over his veiny length.
"Please.. Please let me cum, Gwinam, I'll be good," You whined, rutting your hips backwards against his, meeting them in the middle and bringing you both so much closer to your edge.
He shook his head, pulling your hair and causing a shriek to emit from your throat. He wanted nothing more than to have you creaming all over him, but he knew the pleasure he felt from commanding you was even better.
Gwinam bent forward against you, and he groaned as you reached back and pulled his hair. He grabbed your neck as he felt his high approach, knowing he wouldn't be able to take it much longer.
Finally giving you permission, Gwinam bit his lip, nodding his head, "Yeah, baby. Cum with me. I want you to cum." He muttered almost incoherently, and his approval was enough to snap the coil once more.
Following after you seconds after, you both continued your desperate movements against each other until the ropes of his semen remained inside your vagina.
The floor underneath you was dampened by your shots of cum, legs faltering. You fell against the window, Gwinam grabbing you by your waist and carrying your half-naked body into the supply room.
You were practically asleep as your body fucked-dumb was weak. He lay you on a sofa in the closet, not bothering to cover you up.
He knelt down, licking a stripe in your pussy filled with his cum. He could taste himself, salty and warm, the overstimulation causing your hips to jut upwards as your half-asleep self muttered under your breath.
Gwinam stood up, staring at you for a moment, before turning and heading toward the broadcasting room.
Maybe when you woke up, you'd think it was all just a dream, and would go back to fearing for your life—But the cum spilling out of you made you know that whatever had happened was real—and you knew you would want more.

[Suhyeok x Bully!Hambie!Gwinam's Sister!Reader / All Of Us Are Dead]
Warnings: NONCON (Well, sort of? Suhyeok's saying no but he actually wants it?), Female Reader, Sub!Suhyeok, Dom!Reader, Smut, Degrading.
(A/N): So i just finished AOUAD and hOLY FUCK i need more Suhyeok smut. I'm a massive fucking domme so had make this idea into a fanfic!! I might make a longer one tbh, like a book on wattpad or something haha. Anyways, filth under the cut!
Tumblr media
"What are you smirking at, you brat, huh? Answer me.“
You moved like a predator, dangerous and calculating, and Suhyeok panted pathetically before you even touched him. You'd roughed him up a little so he was too exhausted to dare to escape your clutches.
“Nothing! None of your business, Yoon (Y/N)."
As defiant and brave as ever, Suhyeok wasn’t going to give himself up without a fight, even if he didn’t want to win that fight anyways. You'd found him alone in a classroom full of zombies, fighting for his life. Luckily, you were there to help him out of that sticky situation...and into another one. You and your psycho brother, Yoon Gwinam, had both turned into a Hambie. Conveniently, Gwinam told you that Suhyeok was yours, as long as he have Cheongsan to torment. Nightmare siblings, everyone called you.
"Lee Suhyeok. I saved you. How are you going to repay me, huh?"
You picked him up from the floor like he weighed nothing, ripping his blazer and shirt apart almost instantly, shocking him. A part of Suhyeok felt violated, but another part excited him. He'd hanged with the school bullies before, hence he knew you, and secretly liked you and your fierce attitude.
"Come on, thats enough, (Y/N). Let me go. I have to get back to the others."
Your eyes widened in anger.
"Say that again. I dare you. Do you know what fucking bullshit i had to go through to finally capture you?!"
Suhyeok accidentally moaned as you cornered him and tangled a hand in your hair, tugging on it. You basically hissed, nails leaving tracks across the tanned, unblemished skin of his chest. He gasped, attempting to push you away as you sucked on his neck harshly, making sure not to bite him...yet.
“Wha- (Y/N)..stop - nnghh..."
Suhyeok trailed off, groaning, his adams apple bobbing up and down as you traced his neck. It made you thirsty for more; to claim him as yours, to hurt him more. There was nothing more erotic than a strong fighter submitting to you completely, unable to defend himself from your advances. The truth is, ever since Suhyeok stopped talking to you, your brother and the other bullies, day by day you grew more frustrated with him. And his stupid bravery. The fact that he's not yours. That hes so perfect and good and distancing himself from you. From evil.
"Please, (Y/N). I have to help our classmates -"
Oh come on. Even when he was being violated like this, Suhyeok was thinking of others. At this point he knows he’s going to be punished for even believing that you were a nice person. Because you were a possessive freak. A weirdo. Someone who’s entire existence is frowned upon. If only he knew what it was like to be infatuated with someone until you’d either kill a person, or them.
SLAP.
“Don’t you get it? You’re mine. Stay out of everyone’s sight. Don’t touch them, talk to them, look at them, or even breathe in their direction. I'll kill you if you go back."
Before Suhyeok could say anything else, he choked on his next words as you peeled your panties off and picked him up, thrusting straight onto him, his cock completely filling you up. In that moment, he felt himself crumble in front of you. In this very moment, all Suhyeok wanted was to feel alive again. To forget about the damn zombies. You felt the sweet sting of him stretching you open, filling you to the brim and you know you’d never feel this with anyone else. No matter how shady and unethical and terrifying you were, Suhyeok knew you were not the kind of woman you find twice.
“Are you fucking with me? You like this don’t you? You dirty little whore, Lee Suhyeok, enjoying being used by a filthy possessive girl like me. You want to be owned. Be thankful i haven't turned you already."
You weren’t taking your time, the way you’re fucking him into the wall—bucking your hips into his at a frantic pace and making him whine—it wasn’t for pleasure. No, he could tell by the way you’re keeping him close, not trying to change your angle to get deeper, that you wanted to possess him completely.
"Harder..."
He finally whispered, his eyes averting from your gaze as you fucked him into oblivion. The slapping of flesh was loud, and so was the sound of Suhyeok's ever so needy moaning. And your heavenly whimpers.
"(Y/N), fuck, im yours. I'm yours, so own me."
That's what you liked to hear.

Just before running through the door to escape the inbound zombies, you saw a withered bouquet of flowers leaning against the corner of the wall.
They were your favorites.
Running through the door, you turned around and slammed it shut with the help of Cheong-san. Afterward, the both of you leaned with your backs against the door before sliding down to sit against it, not willing to waste any more energy on getting the attention of the chopper above that obviously was not coming back. You looked over when you heard the boy next to you groan and bumped his shoulder with your own. “You alright?”
He looked over at you and offered a tight smile. “As good as I can be.”
You nodded at him and leaned your head back to rest against the cool metal of the door when a sudden strong force hammered against the door and you quickly jumped up, on edge again after the moment’s rest. Cheong-san jumped up with you and you both stared at the door, preparing for the worst. After a moment of silence, you leaned your ear against the door to hear what might be on the other side and another hit sounded. You flinched back, almost falling onto Cheong-san who steadied you. You all held your breath as one more strike was heard before silence enveloped everything again.
“He’s gone.”
You turned around to look at Nam-ra when she spoke.
“Who’s gone?” Su-hyeok asked.
“It’s Gwi-nam, right? He’s gone now,” you spoke with disappointment lacing your tone. You weren’t sure if it was disappointment that he left or disappointment with what he’d become.
Maybe both.
Nam-ra nodded with an empathetic frown in your direction. “It's his smell. I hear his breathing.”
You nodded to the floor, not really in agreement or disagreement with everything but just a nod to get your body to do something other than to fall into a pit of despair. Not looking at anyone, you turned to go walk to a corner of the roof and sat down, leaning against the wall. You lifted your hands to your face and pressed harshly on the sockets of your eyes, seeing little stars and shapes appear until you heard the sound of someone sitting next to you. Lifting your head, it took a while for the ability to see to come back but you then saw Nam-ra sitting next to you with a guilty expression on her face.
“I’m sor-”
“Don’t apologize,” you interrupted her softly. “I know what he’s become. I know about how he’s trying to kill Cheong-san for whatever reason and how he bit you while fighting Su-hyeok. I know my brother’s gone.”
She looked at the side profile of your face as you refused to look her in the eyes, instead deciding to stare off into space with no specific object having your full attention. You closed your eyes and let out a sniffle when she wrapped her arms around your shoulder and pulled you down so she was cradling you against her chest. You refused to cry, feeling like you had cried enough already and knowing it was the exact opposite of how your father had raised you. Granted, you never really listened to your father considering how much you hated him for the words he would spit at you for any slight mistake.
You both stayed there for a minute or two until you saw the group gathering materials to make the SOS sign bigger. You slowly got up so as to not bump into her and then held your hand out for her to grab. When she did, you lifted her up and started walking in the direction of the group to help, gathering some materials on the way. You looked over when Hyo-ryung was warning Joon-yeong to be careful as he climbed on top of a platform to look at the sign.
“How does it look?” Ji-min asked him and he hummed with his hand holding his chin.
“First… the ‘O,’ it's just too narrow.”
“Why do we need to make the ‘O’ bigger? It’s a distress signal it doesn’t have to be perfect?” You questioned to Hyo-ryung who stood beside you and she just shrugged her shoulders with a small laugh before going over to help as you did the same.
Working together for a bit, with the assistance from Joon-yeong’s instructions, you all stepped back to take a look at your work and saw the most beautiful and perfect SOS signal you have ever seen before.
“Yeah, well, there's no way anyone can miss that,” Joon-yeong spoke proudly.
“Right?” Dae-su agreed and Wu-jin nodded.
“We did do a good job.”
Everyone spread out a little bit, Dae-su and Cheong-san walking over to the copper circle they had placed in the middle of the ‘O’ to center it.
“It's a little crooked, though,” Hyo-ryung commented and you playfully pulled her to your embrace as you covered her mouth and she laughed beneath your hand.
“Nooo. If you say anything we’ll have to do more work!” You joked and she laughed again.
As you let her go with a smile, she turned around and gave you a hug which you didn’t return for a few seconds until it registered in your brain what she was doing. When she pulled back, she looked at you with a sad, guilty smile. “I’m sorry. For all of our preconceptions of you. You’re nothing like what we expected and I wish we became friends under better circumstances,” she told you. You smiled at her and instead of responding just brought her into another hug which she returned.
“Thank you, Hyo-ryung.”
“What does SOS mean?” Dae-su asked as you all were sitting around, resting. He was messing around and moving the parts of one of the ‘S’s to make it less crooked.
“It's a distress signal,” On-jo answered.
“I know that. What does it stand for?” He specified.
“It-”
“It doesn't stand for anything. SOS is just SOS,” On-jo answered, unintentionally interrupting you but you didn’t mind.
“That makes no sense,” Dae-su looked at her, his eyebrows furrowed.
“That's just how it is. It doesn't mean anything.”
“Then rescue quickly… speed of save… save?” Dae-su looked towards you as if he figured it out and you opened your mouth to speak again when On-jo unintentionally interrupted you again.
“Why'd you ask if you're not gonna believe me?”
“I thought you'd know.”
“I do know. Look it up. You'll see I'm right.”
He rolled his eyes as you saw Choeng-san stand up and start walking towards the three of you. “Whatever. How can I look it up? I don't have a phone.”
“Actually-” You started only to roll your eyes when Cheong-san interrupted you. You knew they weren’t doing it on purpose but it was annoying nonetheless.
“What?”
“I asked On-jo what SOS means, and she said it doesn't mean anything,” Dae-su scoffed as he looked at her. “Just say you don't know next time.”
“Well, it’s true,” On-jo huffed.
“It's true,” Cheong-san confirmed and you just shook your head, walking over to where Nam-ra stood and starting up a random conversation with her, unable to stand the love oozing out of Cheong-san’s pores into the atmosphere, all of it directed towards On-jo.
Minutes later, Dae-su walked up to the both of you. “Hey prez, hi (Y/N). What does SOS mean?” He asked and you looked at Nam-ra to see if she would answer but she didn’t, only looking at you for the answer.
“Okay… well. In English, it stands for ‘Save Our Souls’ or ‘Save Our Ship.’ When boats would have a problem in the middle of the ocean, they would send that out for help. It usually just means ‘Save Our Souls’ when people use it in everyday circumstances.”
“Haha!” He exclaimed and turned back to where Cheong-san and On-jo were. “I knew it stood for something! You were wrong!” He boasted and you just laughed as you watched them start another argument. You looked away for a moment only to look back to see On-jo walking away from Cheong-san kneeling down in pain with his hands holding the back of his knees.
“The sun's setting. Let's start a fire,” she directed and you nodded with an amused smile that she rolled her eyes at but couldn’t help to return.
As you all gathered around a plank of wood, On-jo started rotating a stick back and forth to start a fire. When she was unsuccessful, she stood up. “I'm done.”
“Already?” Wu-jin asked but Joon-yeong just got in her place.
He started off strong, twisting it back and forth quickly as he tried to start it.
“You'll get tired. Slow down,” Dae-su warned but Wu-jin smacked him across the arm.
“The fire won't start if he goes slowly.”
Dae-su looked contemplative before turning back to the boy. “Do it faster. Faster. Faster. I said come on, faster! Rub it faster!” He ordered and Joon-yeong let go of the stick in pain, rubbing at his hand. “What is it, cramps?”
“My hands. I can't do it,” he explained and Dae-su gently pushed him away as he took his spot.
“I'll do it. Step back.”
He grabbed the stick and started rolling it in his hand very slowly which caused some of you to groan, you especially and you crouched down in front of the wooden plank.
“Hey, should we kill him?” Wu-jin suggested and you sighed before leaning over and pushing Dae-su back and away.
“Oh, move over already,” you demanded before taking up the stick. You started twisting the stick, faster than everyone who was before you and smoke almost immediately started to pile out of the hole.
“Smoke!” Su-hyeok exclaimed and tried to push you away but you stopped him.
“If I stop now, it won’t be enough friction,” you told him and he nodded. After another few moments, the fire started on its own and the stick lit up. The group oohed and ahhed and you just laughed as you threw it into the wooden pile you all had created.
“Wow! (Y/n), you’re so talented!” Dae-su praised but you just rolled your eyes.
“Nam-ra had a lighter this whole time so we could’ve just used that,” you pointed over at the girl as she held the lighter out, ready to hand it over but you had already succeeded.
“I was going to give it but none of you heard me,” she explained and when everyone remained looking at her with the same shocked look, she continued. “Well, I smoke sometimes.”
You laughed.
“So do I,” you told all of them with a grin as you pulled your own lighter out of your pocket and held it up for everyone to see. Su-hyeok looked at you in astonishment, his mouth opening and closing a few times before you just laughed at his shock. “I’m just kidding. I don’t smoke, I just always carry a knife and lighter on me. I used the knife in the first classroom we were in and the lighter’s been in my pocket since. I haven’t needed to use it until now.”
“You had it this whole time?” Wu-jin asked in exasperation and you just shrugged with a wink sent in his direction as you walked over to the pile, seeing how the fire had died down to only a few sparks.
“Why didn’t you bring it out earlier?” Joon-yeong asked you in confusion.
“Well, I needed to show off my skills,” you laughed as you lit the stick back up and held onto it as you lit more of the wood on fire.
The sun finally set and you all settled around the fire, pulling out blankets and whatever you could to keep warm. You sat to the left of Nam-ra, sharing a blanket with her and On-jo. There was a comfortable silence that settled over all of you until Su-hyeok turned to Dae-su.
“Dae-su.”
“Yeah?” The boy hummed with his cheek resting against his elbow.
“How was your audition?”
Dae-su scoffed. “They said I have to lose weight.”
“Well they’re missing out. You’re a good singer, Dae-su,” you told him and he looked at you with a smile.
“I never knew you'd heard me sing, (Y/n).”
“Being the quiet kid makes it so you see and hear everything. I’m like a spider. I’ve got eyes on the back of my head,” you joked and Hyo-ryung shivered.
“Oh! I hate spiders!”
You laughed at her reaction along with a few others before Su-hyeok spoke to Dae-su again. “Sing for us. I wanna hear it.”
“Just forget it. I don't want to,” he dismissed with a wave of his hand.
“I actually really like that song,” Joon-yeong told him.
“What song?” You asked in confusion, not picking up on any context clues.
He turned to you with a smile. “Just wait, you’ll hear it.”
“You really like it?” Dae-su asked and Joon-yeong nodded.
“It's really nice.”
“You sing well,” Su-hyeok complimented to sweeten the deal.
“It'll cheer us up,” Wu-jin added.
Dae-su cleared his throat and sat up straight before starting.

The singing ended in a nice silence, the only sound being the breaths being inhaled and exhaled.
“It was such a nice song,” Hyo-ryung said softly.
“Didn't you say that it sucked?” Dae-su countered.
“Well, now that I actually listened to it, I think it's kind of nice,” she reassured.
“That was encouraging, Dae-su,” Wu-jin told him and they exchanged a small laugh.
“How long… have you been smoking for?” You heard from beside you and looked to see On-jo looking at Nam-ra as she asked.
She looker over at her. “Since eighth grade. I had no friends and a lot of stress back then.”
On-jo looked at the fire as she tried to think of what to say in response. “Did you ever need a friend, though?”
“I’m not sure. I can’t really tell.”
“You always put up a wall. You'd wear your headphones all day, and you never said anything. Wasn't it because you hated us?”
“I never hated you guys,” Nam-ra dispelled. “I just… didn't have any friends,” she said. You gave a little sad smile and looked at the ground and as if she could sense your feelings of rejection, she kept going. “Up until (Y/n) came into my life, I was pretty much all alone. She was the first person I was sure I could call my friend.”
You smiled and knocked your shoulder into hers which she smiled back at you for.
“Well… I never really liked you,” Hyo-ryung spoke and ruined the moment which you glared at her for until she continued. “I thought you and (Y/n) didn't talk to us because we were beneath you.”
“I kind of hated you. There were times that I wished you would just disappear.” Joon-yeong confessed bitterly.
You grabbed Nam-ra’s hand underneath the blanket which she squeezed in appreciation. She didn’t let it show on her face but you could tell that it affected her.
“Aren't you close? You're the top two students,” Ji-min asked from beside him.
“That's why I hated her. No matter how hard I worked, I was always second,” he exclaimed frustratedly before he sighed. “But it's okay now. I think I was able to come in second, because of Nam-ra.”
“Hey. Second's good too,” Dae-su encouraged. “I can't even be 20th,” he turned to Su-hyeok and Wu-jin. “Right?” Su-hyeok’s hand let go of Wu-jin’s shoulder as he brought it to fist bump against Dae-su’s.
“I always thought you hated us too, (Y/n),” On-jo expressed. “You always seemed too quiet and were always glaring at people, but now you seem so different. What changed?”
You gave her a weak smile. “Nothing changed, actually. I only glared at people when they were being dicks. Have any of you ever actually seen me glare at you?” You looked around and everyone seemed puzzled before shaking their heads. “I never talked to anybody because nobody ever talked to me. What was the point in striking up a conversation when it seemed obvious nobody was interested,” you turned your head back to On-jo as you continued. “I don’t know if you remember, On-jo, but I actually talked to you about a week into freshman year. We talked for a little bit at the start of class until you asked me my name,” she looked shocked with realization as she remembered what you were talking about. “I told you it was Yoon (Y/n) and you got so scared you ran away and ended up transferring classes that entire year,” you laughed painfully and turned away from her, looking back at the fire.
“But you always seemed to act like your brother. You even bullied the bullies!” Ji-min pointed out with a questioning and disbelieving tone as she couldn’t believe what she had believed for the past 3 years was wrong. “Like Na-yeon! She was terrified of you!”
“I gave her a few talking to’s when I would catch her being mean so she would stop. Last year she was much worse but I like to think that I helped calm her down, even if just by a bit.”
Ji-min looked down at her lap in realization. She’d never considered you did all of that just to protect the people she ended up bullying.
After a blanket of silence settled over the group, this one much less comfortable than the last one, Hyo-ryung spoke up as she turned to Dae-su.
“Hey,” she started as she hit his arm. “You shouldn’t compare yourself to Joon-yeong.”
“Huh?” Dae-su asked.
“When you talked about being in 20th place. Don’t compare yourself,” she stressed and he scoffed.
“I was just saying. Why do you always get on my case whenever I say something?” He looked at her in, what he thought was, realization. “Wait a second. Do you like me?”
She scoffed and harshly slapped his upper arm which you smiled lightly at as the others laughed lightly.
“Shut up, you moron!”
“I'm going to put it out there, so you don't get hurt,” he warned. “I like somebody else. So don't like me.”
“I don't like you!” She complained and slapped him again as he held him arm. I'm not interested in you at all.”
“Dae-su. Who do you like, then?” Joon-yeong asked curiously and Dae-su sported a sheepish and shy smile.
Wu-jin groaned. “He's, he's a total freak.”
Su-hyeok pointed at Wu-jin’s head from above. “His sister.”
“Ha-ri from Archery?” Ji-min asked incredulously and he nodded. “You're insane.”
“I go crazy when I'm in love,” Dae-su cooed and Nam-ra looked down with a smile as you stared at Dae-su, your own smile gracing your face, but with a sadder, more longing, demeanor. “She's like my little Cupid.”
“Stop it,” Wu-jin laughed. “If we get out of here alive, I'm gonna tell my sister.”
Dae-su looked at him in shock at his words, reaching over to rest a hand on Wu-jin’s arm. “Will you really tell her?”
“Yeah,” Wu-jin confirmed.
“What?”
“To shoot and kill you. I said not to like my sister.”
“You can't do that to me, future brother-in-law,” Dae-su complained as he wrestled Wu-jin over Su-hyeok’s lap and tried to pull him into a headlock.
“You… Hey!”
“Will you tell her? Promise?”
“Yeah. To kill you.”
“Stop it. Seriously. I love her,” Dae-su told him and Wu-jin groaned.
“Whatever. Somebody else say something so I can forget everything that just happened within the last 2 minutes,” Wu-jin begged and everyone stayed silent and still until Ji-min spoke up.
“My mom and dad prepped everything for my transfer,” she started with a pensive look. “They said to just go to Seoul. But I really didn't want to go there. I wouldn't have had any friends, and I was afraid of the Seoul kids. I didn't know what to do,” she sighed. “Then On-jo gave me a great idea. She said I just had to cut school for five days. Then the principal can't write you a recommendation,” On-jo smiled at her words and looked down to her lap. “So that's what I did. It's all thanks to On-jo… that I didn't have to transfer.”
On-jo held up her hand in a peace sign and you smiled over at her and her adorableness.
“I should've just gone to Seoul.”
Ji-min’s voice brought your eyes over to her and her look displayed one more of bitterness now.
“Then none of this would have happened to me.”
On-jo’s fingers fell and you gave her a grim smile as she nodded solemnly to Ji-min’s words.
“People have always said…” Wu-jin started and the attention went back over to him. “My sister was an archery prodigy ever since she was little. So our parents only cared about trying to get my sister onto the national team. They've never paid attention to me at all.”
“I'll give you all my attention, brother-in-law,” Dae-su told him. “Don't be sad. You have me,” Dae-su groaned as Wu-jin pushed him backward so he was lying on his back. Su-hyeok had moved from sitting in between them during the scuffle they had so he was now sitting beside you. Wu-jin then laughed with a shake of his head.
“Thank God that I have Dae-su.”
The attention turned to Su-hyeok but he just shook his head to pass. Then the attention moved onto you.
“I’ve always been seen as my older brother’s little sister. I don’t think that I’ve ever been known as just (Y/n). If not the little sister of the infamous Yoon Gwi-nam,” you imitated puffing out your muscles to mock your brother in a lighthearted manner but it faltered and you just held your hands in your lap. “Then it was the youngest daughter of the Yoon family. My father, as I’m sure you all know by his reputation, is not a good man. Not only to everyone he meets but also to his own children. Growing up, Gwi-nam was the only one who would protect me from him. I guess I don’t really need that protection anymore. I’m sure my father’s probably in a safe haven hundreds of miles away from all of this. He always was a fucking coward,” you laughed bitterly and felt a hand grab your own. Looking over, your eyes traveled up from where the hand held your own and found that the hand connected to Su-hyeok. You smiled at him, your mood lifting slightly. You looked back at the fire with a small smile still gracing your face. “In other, happier, news; as of yesterday, I am officially 17 years old,” your smile dropped as you remembered the situation you were in. “Happy birthday to me…”
“Fuck…” You heard Su-hyeok whisper from beside you and you looked over to see him frantically looking around the roof, looking for something but you weren’t sure what.
“What? What is it?” You asked him and he shot up off the ground. He jogged over to a section of the roof and you all watched on with curiosity. You stood up when you saw him take a tarp off of something to reveal an opened picnic basket and a cooler that fell on its side, the contents seeming to have been taken. You walked over to him as he looked through the picnic basket with a worried expression before it faded to one of relief when he apparently found what he was looking for. “Su-hyeok,” you asked slowly and quietly as to not scare him. He looked up at you and hid the items in his hands behind his back. “Are you okay?”
“I… uh…” He looked around sheepishly for an excuse but you just rested a hand on his arm.
“What’s going on?”
The chatter from behind you had stopped, everyone emotionally investing themselves into the lives of their former outcasted classmate and one of their best friends.
Su-hyeok brought the items out from behind his back to reveal a small black velvet jewelry box and a beautifully drawn card that had the same drawing of the same girl that was on his notebook from yesterday on the cover. He tilted his head and gave you an unsure, quite frankly, adorable, smile. “Happy birthday?” He handed the gifts to your frozen body. You hadn’t been expecting anything like this. “I’m so sorry I forgot. With everything happening I wasn’t able to fulfill the plans I made for yesterday.”
“What were you going to do?” You asked him breathlessly.
He blushed and scratched the back of his neck, looking towards the ground where he kicked an imaginary rock. “I was planning on taking you up here to have you skip class with me and then after a while, I would confess to you.”
“Confess what?” You asked cluelessly and looked back at the group briefly as you heard some of them groan.
Looking back at him, his eyes locked onto yours and he took a step forward. Reaching his hands out, he took the gifts and set them down before grabbing your hands. Staring you deeply in the eyes while you blushed harshly at the way he was acting and how close he was to you. “Confess… that I’m in love with you, (Y/n),” you gasped but he continued. “I have been in love with you since the day I met you. I don’t expect you to share my feelings, but I would love to take you out on a date one day after all this is over and be able to call you mine.”
You stared at him for a moment and just as he sighed in rejection and let go of your hands to back away, you grabbed onto his tie and pulled him down to your level so you could kiss him.
He took a moment to return it, but once he did, he kissed you so softly and with so much more love than you could ever imagine. He pulled your waist into him, forcing you to stand on your tippy toes to reach him, and lifted one hand to brush a strand of hair behind your ear before cupping your cheek gently. When you both pulled away, it was because you couldn’t contain your smile anymore and you hid your blushing face in his neck as you hugged him. He laughed and held you to him, one hand cupping the back of your head and the other wrapping around your waist.
“So is that a yes? May I call you mine?” He asked against your temple and you leaned back to give him a slight peck against the lips before smiling again.
“Yes, Su-hyeok, you may call me yours.”
The group behind you erupted into cheers and you flipped them the bird as you leaned down to pick up the gifts he had set down. Deciding to put the card in your pocket, considering it was small enough for it, you went back to sit down, Su-hyeok right on your trail, following after you like a love sick puppy, and returned to your original spots. This time, you were no longer sharing the blanket with Nam-ra and On-jo, but leaning against Su-hyeok as he wrapped an arm around your shoulder. You looked down to open the box and gasped when you saw the beautiful golden necklace inside of it. You opened the locket to find one side filled with small dried flowers and the other side to be empty. You looked up at the boy holding you and he smiled down at you.
“I was hoping we could fill it with a picture of us,” he told you and you melted. Giving the necklace to him, he helped you put it on and you smiled up at him once more before turning back to the group who was looking at you like they were watching a soap opera.
You looked over to On-jo, only to see her smiling at you brightly. There was a tiny hint of disappointment in her gaze but mainly happiness for her two friends.
“Anyways! Onto the next person. What do you say prez? You wanna go next?” You teased Nam-ra lightly as she smiled at you compassionately, happy for your successes.
“I don't really have anything to say. I wouldn't really know… but I feel like I made friends.”
You smiled at her and held a hand out for her to take which she did before turning to look at On-jo who smiled at her reassuringly. The attention shifted over to Cheong-san as he put a stick into the fire before speaking. “Me and… On-jo…” He paused and sighed. “I just, well… I just want some water, really.”
“Not stuff like that,” Hyo-ryung complained. “Be completely honest.”
“Be completely honest,” Dae-su continued. “Do you like someone?”
Cheong-san took a moment to think before humming in approval.
“You do? For real?” On-jo asked and you smiled as you watched Cheong-san try to hide his feelings from the one person who didn’t know about them.
“Yeah.”
“Why do you keep on stalling? Do you have a crush?” She interrogated him.
“Uh, pretty much.”
“Pretty much? What does that mean? Who is she?”
You looked around to see everyone pretty much having the same expression on their faces. Joon-yeong smirked as he put another stick into the fire.
The two lovebirds stared at each other before Cheong-san looked away and dismissively said, “No one.”
“Who is she?” On-jo begged. “Do I know her?” She looked like she was putting on a teasing face for the group but you could hear the slight hesitation in her voice.
Maybe the love wasn’t as one sided as you thought it was.
“Who is it?”
“You… It's you, On-jo… I like you.”
On-jo looked stunned by the news and Dae-su’s mouth opened comically at the confession.
“Two confessions in one night?” He whispered dramatically.
On-jo scoffed at Cheong-san. “Hey. Stop that,” she turned back to the group. “He doesn't mean it. He's just kidding,” she gave a soft chuckle. “I mean, we were friends and neighbors since kindergarten, that's all,” she then turned back to him with a more serious face. What nobody could see except you and maybe Su-hyeok from the excited smile on his face was the dash of hope hidden within her eyes. “Stop joking.”
“I'm not joking,” he confirmed and she let out a shaky breath. “Ever since I was six years old, I've always liked you, On-jo. And I always will.”
“Awesome,” Dae-su expressed after a moment before On-jo got up and walked to the corner of the roof.
Cheong-san looked down in sadness and rejection before you lightly kicked his knee from his cross legged position. “Cheong-san,” he looked up at you and you pointed at On-jo while Su-hyeok tilted his head in her direction, the both of you encouraging him to go and talk to her.
As he stood up and walked over, Dae-su expressed his surprise into words. “Did you know? I had no idea.”
“You're the only one who didn't know,” Hyo-ryung explained to him.
“Everyone knew?
“Yes. I don’t know how you didn’t, you hung out with them everyday and I only saw it from across the classroom but I could still tell,” you told him and he just looked furrowed his eyesbrows.
“Why didn't I know?”
“I didn't, either,” Wu-jin told him to comfort him.
“Because you're you,” Hyo-ryung told the former boy with an eye roll that you laughed at.
“Cheong-san's so cool.”
The spoken boy soon walked away from the girl to stand on the other side of the roof, looking away from On-jo as she watched him longingly. You watched between the two of them as you wished they would just be able to accept each other’s feelings which they so obviously have. Although On-jo’s was more subtle and she obviously tried to hide it with her ‘feelings’ for Su-hyeok, you could tell that she had liked him back.
For much longer than just a while, too.
While distracted by your thoughts, they were brought out by Cheong-san screaming On-jo’s name. As you looked up, you saw the one and only Gwi-nam running across the rooftop towards Cheong-san who was running towards him too. They slammed into each other and Gwi-nam got the better of the situation by slamming Cheong-san onto the ground on his back.
“Cheong-san!”

pairing, gn! reader.. best friends. genre, fluff. setting, non-apocalyptic. warning, sweet shy babie suhyeok. note, and she lives! this was requested so hey anon, thanks for sending this in ♡
Tumblr media
suhyeok isn't sure when you lost interest in the movie. he just knows that you've stopped watching it because of his hand's sudden movements. and unless it has a mind of its own, he's not the one controlling it.
“what are you doing?”
concentrated on your ministrations, you mumble, “i'm comparing the sizes of our hands.”
confused yet unwilling to stop you, suhyeok decides to watch too. but his gaze isn't really zoned on the little nudges you make to align your hands as best as possible. yeah, it's actually on the way you scrunch your nose when you push a little too much.
also, is it too much to say that your tongue poking out slightly between your lips while you focus is cute? he'll ask namra about that tomorrow.
(not sure why he expects her to say anything new. no matter what he asks, her answers are consistent: confess already. at this point, she might just record it to save her voice the trouble.)
the hushed ooh that falls from your lips has suhyeok looking at your hands. judging by his red ears, it's something he quickly comes to regret. not in a bad way, he swears! it's just that..
did you really have to slip your fingers between the gaps of his own hand?
what makes it even worse for the shy boy is that you're holding his hand like lovers do. you know, fingers folded and sat upon his warm skin like an anchor—like you have no plan of letting him it go anytime soon.
despite the chaos that is taking place in him, he decides to do the same and act like it's normal. if you're not freaking out over it, then neither will he.. or so he's trying to convince himself.
he returns his attention to the movie, then sighs after a few minutes. glancing over at you, he asks, “can we change the movie?”
“please do, i've been waiting for you to ask that ever since we got past the first fifteen minutes.” you complain, to which he chuckles and leans over to grab the remote.
realistically, he could have made it easier for himself by taking his hand away from yours since that was the closest.
honestly, suhyeok would rather put a little strain on his muscles than give up one of the very things he frequently dreams about.
(hm, perhaps it's about time he follows namra's advice.)

was randomly wondering why 'all of us are dead' was so close to my heart. it was namra and it was the feelings suhyeok had for her. it was so otherworldly, one of the most beautiful stories I've come across.
something along the lines of "draw a monster; why is it a monster?" and "when is a monster, not a monster? oh when you love it" and all the dammit stuff about love, all the "snow at the beach" and "Lana del Rey" version of love that's such a fantasy was them, namra and hyeok. and the whole "I'll hug you tighter when you're turning, and I believe in us and trust you with my life" and "come what may, I'll be there, right by your side" and how she never once proved him wrong, however hard it was. and how every moment they were together was such an "in that moment we were infinite"
and namra, how strong, how brave, how interesting, how fucking cool.
idk what exactly stuck out to me, but it kept reminding me of that scene from 'sweet home', where that uncle hugs hyunsoo. (god that scene, will never get over it. something, no scratch that, everything about that scene was so-)
and when sae bom hugged yihyun the "it's you, it has always been you. it's your soul that I'm in love with; your heart I've found a home in and I'll hold you tighter when you're breaking" (tho this story was undeniably inspired by sweet home like sweet home but add romance and a queen to it)

no i totally agree that he'd see it as a chore.. like in his mind he'd know that he'd literally die to protect you but then when it comes to doing it he'd be all 'yeah yeah i'm only doing it bcs i want to..' it's nice to write him in a fluff, i'm the type of person who always tries to see the best in everyone and what better way than to write about it?
and i totally do not mind writing y/n / reader fics! if that's what the audience wants thats what the audience gets :) <33

FLUFF!
۫ ꣑ৎ 。°‧⭑.ᐟ
To do list for today:
Do laundry? Check. Get to school on time? Sorta-check. Fight off brain-eating zombies?
At this moment, you couldn’t even entertain the thought of checking that box off. You were lying flat on the cold cafeteria floor, your vision blurry as you stared up at the classmate that'd be sure to make you his lunch instead of the gimbap and kimchi. On top of you, the boy you’d sat next to in math just this morning was animalistic, uncontrollable, with blood dripping from his face. He was a still, haunting reminder of how quickly everything had spiraled out of control.
The blood that had splattered across his face was now seeping onto your own, a chilling, sticky warmth that had your stomach turning. You could barely hear the chaos over the rush of your heartbeat, but the eerie groans of zombies and their shuffling footsteps filled your ears. Your mind was struggling to keep up, caught between the instinct to fight back and the cold reality that it might be too late.
Your body felt frozen, unable to move, as if you were stuck in place by some invisible force. The cafeteria was a warzone now—tables upended, broken chairs scattered across the floor, and the grotesque sound of gnawing filling the air as people ran around you. Every inch of your being screamed for you to get up, to run, to do anything, but your legs felt like lead. You couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. You were just there, waiting for the inevitable.
Then, in the midst of it all, a sharp sound cut through your panic—a grunt, a struggle, and suddenly the weight of the boy who had been lying on top of you was yanked off. Your heart skipped, and you blinked, trying to focus through the haze.
Before you could even react, you looked up—and there he was.
Gwi-nam?
The last person you ever expected to see in this nightmare.
Gwi-nam. Your past. Your confusion. The boy you had once cared for, the one you had loved, but also the one you’d distanced yourself from because of everything he’d done. It wasn’t just the bullying, or the way he made others feel helpless and small—it was how you felt helpless in his presence, like there was nothing you could do to stop him.
But now, there he was, his dark eyes locked onto yours with an intensity that made your breath catch in your throat. His chest rose and fell quickly, and his expression was a mix of focus and something you couldn’t quite place.
You didn’t know whether to feel relief or dread.
Without hesitation, he grabbed your arm and pulled you to your feet. You didn’t argue, couldn’t argue. There was no time. In a swift motion, he guided you toward the kitchen, moving with a purpose that left no room for doubt. His grip on you was firm, almost urgent, but you couldn’t bring yourself to pull away. The chaos around you had left you disoriented, and for the first time in what felt like hours, you felt like you had a sliver of hope.
The kitchen door slammed shut behind you as you tumbled inside, and Gwi-nam immediately shoved you under the counter, lowering you into the cramped space. You had barely settled when you heard the sound of his footsteps behind you, his body pressing against your back as he slid into place. The tight space left little room to move, but there was a strange comfort in knowing you weren’t alone—not that you could have moved if you wanted to. The air was thick, the stench of decay mixing with the lingering scent of food and sweat. Your heart pounded in your ears, every beat a reminder that time was running out.
Two other figures huddled in the kitchen with you, a boy and a girl. They were breathing heavily, clearly as terrified as you were. You couldn’t tell how many zombies were in the building anymore—too many had already been drawn into the chaos—but the muffled groans told you that they were close, too close for comfort.
You pressed your back further into Gwi-nam’s chest, trying to steady your breathing. The sensation of his warmth against you was oddly grounding, though it didn’t ease the panic building in your chest. You didn’t know if you could trust him, not really—not after everything—but there was no time for doubt now. You just had to hold on, survive, and hope that the world outside this kitchen would make sense again when you stepped out of it.
The zombies hadn’t reached the kitchen yet, but you knew it was only a matter of time before they found you. The fear in your stomach twisted tighter with every passing second. The kitchen, once a mundane place, had turned into a prison—a place of both safety and suffocating confinement.
You sat there, your head resting against the cold, hard edge of the counter, trying to breathe through the fear that was clawing its way up your throat. Gwi-nam’s breathing was steady behind you, but the tension between you two was palpable. The silence in the cramped space was deafening, broken only by the faint noises from the rest of the building. The zombies hadn’t given up yet. You could hear their shuffling steps, their guttural groans drifting through the walls.
But for now, you were alive.
And maybe that was enough.
You turned your head, feeling the weight of time stretching on for what felt like hours. You had to stay quiet—every sound, every breath, seemed like it could betray your hiding spot. The floor beneath you was cold, your body stiff with the effort to stay still. Slowly, you shifted your body, now facing Gwi-nam, who was focused on the girl next to you. His eyes were intent on her, his finger pressed to his lips, signaling her to stay silent. He was too busy trying to calm her to notice your movements.
You held your breath. The sound of shuffling footsteps and distant groans filled the air, making your heart race in time with your pulse. It was only a matter of time before the undead would find their way under the counter.
As you were about to speak, hoping to get his attention, Gwi-nam’s patience seemed to snap. Without a word, he shoved the girl aside, moving with quick, calculated precision. Before you could even process what was happening, a nearby cafeteria worker—now one of the zombies—lunged at her, grabbing her in a flash. The girl let out a muffled scream, but there was nothing anyone could do. She was already torn into, the floor painted with her ruby liquid.
You froze, a gasp rising from your chest. Your instincts kicked in, and you tried to make a move, to run, to help, but Gwi-nam’s hand shot up to cover your mouth, pulling you back into his arms with surprising strength. His grip was firm, preventing you from doing anything rash.
You could feel his heart beating against your back as he held you tightly, his other hand pressing gently but urgently against your chest. His body was solid behind you, a strange sense of security amidst the chaos. But the sound of the girl’s panicked cries was still ringing in your ears, followed by a terrible silence.
The boy who had been hiding with you had lunged forward in an attempt to rescue her, but he was quickly overtaken by the swarm. His struggles were brief, his fate sealed in seconds. The sounds of his cries were drowned out by the savage growls of the people you'd once called friends.
Everything went still. For a moment, it was like the world had paused, your breath caught in your throat. The cold air of the kitchen felt heavier now, suffocating. You wanted to scream, to break down, but your body wouldn’t let you. Instead, a tight knot of fury twisted in your chest.
You turned to face Gwi-nam, your eyes burning with anger. You slapped his hand away, the sound of it harsh in the silence. "You're still the same old Gwi-nam, even now?" you whispered, your voice shaking with a mix of fear and fury. The words stung as they left your lips, the truth of them hitting harder than you expected.
You grabbed hold of his shirt, your fists trembling with the weight of your emotions. You tugged him closer, your eyes locked onto his. You needed him to understand, to feel how much this hurt. "How could you just let that happen?" you spat out, your voice bitter, almost breaking under the strain of everything that had built up between you.
“Just shut up and stop complaining, y/n!” For a moment, there was nothing but silence, the kind that felt too loud, too heavy. The tension between you both crackled in the air, and you wondered if this would be the moment he pushed you away for good.
Instead, his hands moved slowly, cautiously, as if he was afraid you would break if he moved too quickly. He reached out, pulling you toward him. His embrace was surprisingly gentle, wrapping around you tightly, as if he was afraid you might disappear if he let go.
You froze. You were confused, unsure how to react. For a long moment, your hands hovered in the air, uncertain. Your breath caught in your throat, your body tense with the whirlwind of emotions you were trying to sort through.
Everything inside you screamed to pull away, to resist the closeness, but in that moment, you couldn’t find the strength to do it. Slowly, almost reluctantly, you lowered your hands, your fingers touching his back. The warmth of his body against yours was a strange comfort amidst the chaos, but it didn’t make sense. You weren’t sure if you were angry, scared, or both.
“I would always do anything to save you,” Gwi-nam whispered into your ear, his voice low and sincere, but there was something else there—a weight, a hidden truth behind the words. “Always—Even if it means making impossible choices. So stop whining and just let me fucking save us.”
The air around you grew thick, and for a brief second, the noise of the world outside seemed to fade away. His words settled into your mind, sinking in deeper than you wanted them to. You wanted to argue, to tell him how wrong he was, but the truth was harder to deny than you cared to admit. There was a darkness in this world now—a darkness that forced people to do things they might never have thought possible.
And in that darkness, Gwi-nam’s words felt like a promise. A promise to protect you, no matter the cost.
You squeezed your eyes shut, the weight of everything hitting you all at once. The memories of everything that had come before—the moments of laughter, the shared secrets, the way he once made you feel so alive in a world that now felt so dead—came rushing back. It was all so complicated now. The love, the hurt, the distance. The world had torn you apart, and you weren’t sure if you could put the pieces back together.
You could feel Gwi-nam’s hand tightening at the back of your head, his fingers gently pressing against your scalp as he held you closer. It wasn’t forceful or aggressive, but it was a silent promise, a quiet reassurance that despite the destruction, despite the monsters that now roamed the world, you wouldn’t have to face this alone.
The next moment flew by in a blur. The two first-years who had left the counter—now twisted and zombified—lunged toward you with unsettling speed. He didn't hesitate. Grabbing a metal table, he shoved it toward the oncoming attackers, creating just enough space for you to slip away. His hand shot out, grabbing yours with urgency, and together, you barreled toward the cafeteria window above the sink. Without a word, he hoisted you up, his grip tightening as he pulled you through.
You tumbled into the alley beyond, adrenaline coursing through your veins. Your hearts pounded as you ran hand-in-hand, the shuffling footsteps of the zombies close behind. An idea sparked in your mind—a plan, however small. You tugged him with purpose toward the building, the one the two of you had snuck behind every day to escape the chaos of high school life. It was familiar, a small piece of normalcy in a world turned upside down.
The zombies were close—too close—but as you scaled a ventilator and pressed your backs against the cool metal of the machine, they lost your trail. The world felt distant now, the cacophony of screeches and growls slowly fading into the distance.
Time stretched, becoming a slow, agonizing pulse. You lay still, barely breathing, watching as the night swallowed the world around you. Minutes—or was it hours?—passed before you finally sat up, cautiously peering through the shadows. The weight of the silence pressed in around you.
"Holy shit," you muttered under your breath.
Gwi-nam laughed softly beside you, breaking the tension. You both sat in quiet companionship for a while, catching your breath. Your mind spun, but you focused on the immediate task at hand: survival. The conversation meandered, but all you could think about was getting the two of you somewhere safe. Away from this nightmare.
The moon hung low in the sky, casting pale light over the ruined world below, but the time was irrelevant now. Nothing mattered except the here and now. Your breath steadied, but there was an undeniable unease in the air.
"Did you know," you spoke up, your voice surprisingly calm, "when you die, you see seven minutes of your best memories before it all ends?"
He tilted his head, eyebrow raised, his voice laced with a hint of mischief. "You think we're gonna die?"
Your lips curled into a half-smile as you shrugged, a touch of uncertainty in your eyes. "I don't know. Maybe."
For a long moment, the only sound was the distant hum of the night. His gaze never left you, searching your face for something, something that lingered between the weight of the world and the quiet comfort of your presence. Slowly, he reached for your hand. His grip was warm against the cool night air.
"You’d be my seven minutes," he said, his voice low, almost a whisper.
You met his gaze, the soft glow of the moonlight illuminating the quiet intensity in his eyes. For a brief second, it felt like the entire world—zombies, the chaos, the desperation—faded away. As you held his stare, the weight of everything that had happened, and everything that could still happen, seemed to evaporate, leaving nothing but the two of you. The shadows of the world around you dissolved, like a fading nightmare. In that moment, the air between you thickened, your breath mingling as you whispered, “And you’d be mine.”
It was as if time had suspended itself, the violence of the world slipping into the background, becoming just a distant memory, a figment of imagination. There was nothing but him, nothing but this fragile, precious quiet. You leaned in, the space between you shrinking, your heart racing in anticipation of something simple yet profound.
Just before your lips could meet, your hand instinctively rose, and with a single finger, you pressed it lightly between your lips, halting the moment. His eyes searched yours, a quiet smile forming at the corners of his mouth. “Save the kiss for when we make it out of here,” you said, your voice barely more than a whisper, as though the words themselves might be a secret only meant for this fragile slice of time.
A playful glint flickered in his eyes, and before you could fully process it, he swept you into his arms, pulling you close in a tight, almost reckless squeeze. The sudden closeness caught you off guard, but there was comfort in it—a promise that, for now, you were safe in his arms, even if only for a moment.
“Deal,” he whispered with a chuckle, his voice low and warm against your ear. You could feel the warmth of his breath, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, and for the briefest instant, it was like the rest of the world didn’t exist—just the two of you, holding on to something that felt like hope, something that might just get you both through the nightmare you found yourselves in.

The classroom buzzed with a strange energy, an odd mix of fear and camaraderie. Despite the ever-present moans and thuds of the undead outside, the boys managed to find ways to distract themselves from the grim reality. The latest distraction? Wujin’s endless monologue.
"You know," Wujin began, leaning back against the wall with the confidence of someone who definitely thought they were the main character, "if we survive this apocalypse—and I mean if—I’m taking Y/N out for a fancy dinner. Like, steak, dessert, the whole deal."
The group burst into laughter. Dae-su nearly choked on his biscuit, while Cheong-san shook his head with a grin.
"Bro, you can’t even afford steak," Cheong-san teased. "Your wallet’s emptier than the cafeteria right now."
"First of all," Wujin retorted, holding up a finger, "rude. Second of all, Y/N is worth it. He’s got that whole ‘strong and silent’ vibe going on, you know? Like, the kind of guy who could carry you bridal style through a horde of zombies and still look cool doing it."
More laughter erupted, and even you—sitting across the room sorting through supplies—couldn’t help but crack a smile. Wujin was nothing if not persistent.
"You’ve got it bad, huh?" Dae-su said, nudging Wujin with his elbow.
Wujin sighed dramatically, clutching his chest like he’d been shot. "Of course I do! Have you seen him? He’s like... the human equivalent of a survival handbook. Practical, reliable, and ridiculously good-looking. If I had a chance, I wouldn’t just shoot my shot—I’d cannonball into it."
Suhyeok, who’d been leaning against the wall a few feet away, stayed silent. He twirled a metal pipe in his hands, his expression unreadable.
"Y/N’s great and all," Cheong-san said, throwing a glance in your direction. "But don’t you think you’re being a little dramatic?"
"Me? Dramatic?" Wujin gasped, mock-offended. "It’s not dramatic to acknowledge greatness when you see it. He’s a ten out of ten."
The group burst into laughter again, but Suhyeok barely reacted. He simply shrugged, his voice calm as he said, "Yeah, Y/N’s cool."
Wujin grinned, turning to him. "Right? I mean, come on, Suhyeok, even you’ve gotta admit he’s a catch."
Suhyeok gave a nonchalant hum, his tone light. "Sure. He’s a good guy." His fingers tightened on the pipe for just a moment before he set it down, his movements smooth.
The conversation drifted to other topics, but Suhyeok’s mind stayed stuck on Wujin’s words. The casual teasing and compliments shouldn’t have bothered him, but they did.
He glanced at you across the room, the corner of his mouth twitching up as you focused on organizing the supplies. You were completely oblivious to Wujin’s crush—and to Suhyeok’s growing jealousy.

Later that night, the group settled down, some asleep while others kept watch. You slipped away with Suhyeok under the guise of checking the rooftop, craving a moment of peace.
As you leaned against the railing, the cool night air brushing against your skin, you sighed. "You know, Wujin’s been talking about me all day. He’s funny, but man, he really doesn’t stop."
Suhyeok leaned beside you, his jaw tightening slightly. "Yeah, he’s got a lot to say."
You chuckled, completely missing the edge in his tone. "He’s harmless, though. Honestly, it’s kind of sweet. I think he—"
Before you could finish, Suhyeok turned and kissed you, cutting you off mid-sentence. The force of it pushed you back against the railing, his hands gripping your waist firmly. The kiss was intense, almost desperate, as if he’d been holding back all day and finally snapped.
You froze for a moment before kissing him back, your hands clutching at his jacket. When he finally pulled back, his lips red and slightly swollen, you were left breathless.
"What the hell was that for?" you asked, your voice low and shaky.
Suhyeok’s eyes locked onto yours, his expression unreadable. "You really don’t know, do you?"
"Know what?" you asked, genuinely confused.
He smirked, brushing his thumb along your jaw. "You’re mine, Y/N. I don’t care who else thinks they have a shot—you’re mine."
The words sent a shiver down your spine. "Wait… is this about Wujin? You’re jealous?"
Suhyeok didn’t answer. Instead, he kissed you again, rougher this time, his hands sliding up your back as he pulled you closer. The kiss grew sloppier, your breaths mingling as his lips moved down to your neck. You couldn’t help but let out a quiet gasp as he nipped at your skin, his grip on you tightening.
Your hands moved to his shoulders, as he trailed down to your pants, pulling them down with a firm tug, making you gasp with surprise.
“Here? What if someone–” he interrupted you with another searing kiss as he tugge your boxers down too, leaving your lower half bare.
Out of nowhere, he pulled out a small packet of lube (magician I tell you), and ripped it open with his teeth. You simply stared at him wide-eyed, wondering where the damn thing came from. Suhyeok merely smirked, and poured the cold liquid onto his fingers, watching it run down to his palms.
He gently turned you around and prodded one lubed finger against your ass, slowly inserting it, with you covering your mouth. He then added one after the other– and soon, three fingers were steadily pumping in and out of you.
Your back arched, pushing forward into the wall in front of you– hands digging into the paint, coming off with flecks in your nails.
Deeming you to be prepped enough, Suhyeok removed his fingers and replaced them with his erection, his pants hanging low at his ankles.
He pressed the tip in– followed by the rest of his length, until he fully bottomed out inside of you. He groaned at how your hole was clenching tightly around his cock– feeling every twitch and pulse.
“Gonna move now baby,” he uttered before pulling out all the way before slamming back in. You moaned at the feeling– almost forgetting that the zombies or your friends could hear you at any moment.
Suhyeok turned you around to face him– having an almost death grip on your waist. One of your hands tightly clutched his shoulder, while the other covered your mouth so that you wouldn’t let out any noises.
He buried his face in the crook of your neck, groaning with almost every single thrust. You felt so fucking good around his cock.
"Suhyeok," you managed to say, your voice barely above a whisper. "Someone could walk in."
As if on cue, the rooftop door creaked open.
Both of you turned, startled, to see Wujin standing there, his face a mix of shock and horror.
"I—I was just—" Wujin stammered, his eyes darting between you and Suhyeok. "You know what? Nope. Didn’t see anything. Carry on."
Before either of you could say a word, Wujin spun around and bolted, the door slamming shut behind him.
You groaned, running a hand through your hair. "Great. This is exactly what I needed."
Suhyeok laughed softly, still thrusting gently inside of you, "Guess we don’t have to keep it a secret anymore."
"Yeah, and now I get to deal with Wujin thinking I’m a jerk."
"He’ll get over it," Suhyeok said, pulling you closer. "And if not, who cares? You’re mine, Y/N. That’s all that matters."
You sighed, leaning into him despite yourself. "You’re impossible, you know that?"
"And you love it," he teased, pressing a kiss to your temple, before pulling out and slamming back in again with full force– making you let out an almost pornographic moan in surprise.
It was going to be a long night.

Cheong-san plunged the edge of the phone into his left eye and he screamed in agony. While distracted with his pain, Cheong-san followed his instinct and threw him into the mob below.
Please forgive me, (Y/n)...
You had sat in the same spot for about 10 minutes when you decided you had gotten tired of sitting still and needed to move around a bit, even if you just paced back and forth. You’d figured out when you first came in here that the wild piano playing was from a young girl trapped underneath the piano on the other side of the room. She was a zombie, of course, and you couldn't help from feeling bad about how she’d been unable to even have a chance at escaping.
You’d been pacing for so long the wooden floor was starting to have skid marks from your rubber soles on it. You thought of different plans desperately, trying to find one that would be able to get you out of this situation and back to your friends.
Back to Su-hyeok.
You couldn’t believe it when you heard the door open, fearing the worst and not bothering to turn around even when you heard the soft and hesitant footsteps.
“(Y/n)?” The voice said and you swiftly turned around to see Cheong-san there with a hesitant and terrified face. Once he’d realized you weren’t a zombie, his face transformed from one of being terrified to one of extreme relief with a hint of guilt for some reason. He rushed toward you and brought you into a hug that you instinctually returned. He held you tightly in a friendly embrace upon your reunion and you held him back just as tightly, glad that even if you couldn’t completely keep your promise to On-jo, he came out safe and sound.
At least you thought so.
You pulled away and looked him over, turning him around so you could see his back and then back around again when you realized he was indeed safe with no serious injuries or worse, bite marks.
“Oh, thank god,” he exclaimed as he also looked you over to see you were safe. “I was so worried I’d lost you forever there.”
“Yeah, to be honest, me too. I wasn’t sure if I would make it out alive and I have no idea how I was able to make it here without getting hurt. How about you? How the hell did you make it here? I thought you went downstairs?” You interrogated and slapped his arm at his stupid actions.
He took a deep breath before determination set on his face and he stared you directly in the eyes. “(Y/n), I need to tell you something-”
A soft squealing noise from the speakers interrupted him and you both looked at it in confusion. After a few seconds, you heard voices coming through
“Anyone?” A voice that sounded like Joon-yeong sounded out softly.
“I've never done it before,” a voice like Dae-su’s called out and a smile grew onto your face at the sound of your new friends’ bantering.
“Somebody do it. Dae-su?” Another voice spoke, this one more feminine and sounding like either On-jo or Hyo-ryung.
“Here goes nothing… Uh, mic test. One, two. One, two. Cheong-san and (Y/n), are you there? We-”
“What are you doing?” A voice that you recognized instantly as Su-hyeok’s spoke and the grin on your face faded to a small smile of relief. It seemed like so long ago that you had heard him even if it was maybe only an hour ago.
“Hey, (Y/n), Cheong-san, do you hear us?”
“It's Su-hyeok,” you spoke softly and Cheong-san gave you a smile.
“It's Su-hyeok,” Su-hyeok repeated and you and Cheong-san laughed a little at the coincidence. “We'll come to you, so stay put. Got it?”
“Hell no, not happening-”
“Don't come, moron. You're gonna get bit-”
You and Cheong-san spoke at the same time, protesting to the speakerphone.
“I know what the both of you will say, but we can't hear you here.”
“What the hell are you doing, Bare-su?” Cheong-san whispered and you just shook your head as you walked towards the door, looking through the window to see if it was clear.
“So don't go anywhere. Wait for us. You really can't go anywhere, okay? We'll come now.”
Just as you were about to open the door, seeing that there were no zombies nearby for the time being, his next words stopped you in your tracks like a deer in headlights.
“(Y/n). I know you’re stubborn and never take any of my advice, but please. Please stay where you’re at. For me?” He whispered the last part and you leaned your forehead against the glass of the sliding door, debating with yourself on which you would do: stay and wait for the group, or go to them.
You didn’t really get any say in the matter when a zombie suddenly ran up to the door and slammed against it, its blood covered mouth smearing along the glass.
“Yeah, nope…” You concluded and went over to take a seat on one of the chairs in the room. You ignored the rest of what the group was unintentionally saying into the microphone and laid your head down when suddenly On-jo spoke directly to Cheong-san.
“Cheong-san. Please stay still. I know you never listen to me, but please do it this time.”
You saw Cheong-san stop in his tracks from where he too was about to open the door and run out. He walked over to sit next to you and you both sat in a comfortable silence.
“Time for meditation,” a sudden and unfamiliar voice interrupted the silence and you shot up, confused.
Tranquil music started playing and your confusion turned into an amused smile.
“Once again, another fun day at school,” you laughed at the voice and leaned your face on one of your hands while the other wrapped itself around your waist.
“Everyone, close your eyes… and calm your hearts.”
You turned around to look at Cheong-san and immediately bursted out laughing at the annoyed smile he had on his face.
“They couldn’t have picked any better music?” He asked with distaste.
“Aw, come on Cheong-san, you don’t wanna meditate?” You teased and sat on one of the desks with your legs crossed and your hands placed palm up on your knees. “Let us meditate together, my young padawan.”
“You’re so stupid,” he laughed and you pouted at him before falling backwards so you were lying down on the desks.
“Yeah? We’ll you’re just an ultra big meanie,” you insulted childishly and flipped him off which he snorted at.
You suddenly heard a bunch of growling and shot up again, getting back on your guard as you saw dozens of zombies run down the hallways towards the corridor speaker.
“Now that’s why they did it! That’s smart,” you complimented and Cheong-san nodded in agreement.
You sat there for a minute until the door burst open and the group came trampling in.
“Oh, shit,” Dae-su exclaimed as he walked over to where the two of you were and pulled you both in for a hug. “Where were you guys? Idiots.”
“Where's On-jo?” Cheong-san asked worriedly and seconds later the girl came rushing in. “On-jo!” Cheong-san shoved himself out of Dae-su’s arms so he could rush towards her and Dae-su focused his energy on squeezing the life out of you.
“(Y/n)! I never would have thought I would miss your glare so much!” He cried out dramatically and you laughed as you returned the hug, basking in the embrace of a friend.
“How did you guys know we were here?” You heard Cheong-san ask and turned around just in time to see him get kicked in the back of the knees by On-jo.
“I told you not to go! Why don't you ever listen to me?” She complained with a voice ready to start crying.
“Hey, save the lovers' quarrel for later,” Dae-su stopped the argument and went over to help lift Cheong-san up.
“Let's go!” Wu-jin directed, panting to get his breath.
“Where?” You asked, still stuck on how they even knew where you and Cheong-san were.
“We have to get to the roof before the meditation music ends.”
You looked behind On-jo in worry as you didn’t see either of your best friends anywhere in sight.
“Let's go. Hurry!” Dae-su urged but you stopped their movements when you spoke.
“Wait! Where’s Nam-ra and Su-hyeok? They were with you guys… right? Where are they now?”
On-jo looked stunned, just now realizing the same thing as you but you didn’t wait for her to react as you quickly opened the door and rushed outside.
“Where are you going?” Cheong-san anxiously asked as you rushed out.
“Hey! Hey! Hey!” Dae-su called out after you as both he and Cheong-san ran after your retreating form.
You stopped running and sighed in relief when you saw Nam-ra and Su-hyeok running down the hall, Nam-ra holding her arm in pain and Su-hyeok running behind her to make sure she didn’t fall behind with blood splattered across his face.
“Are you crazy? Don't go by yourself!” Cheong-san commanded when he and the group caught up to you.
Your look of relief vanished as you saw the concern and sternness on both of their faces as they came closer.
“Go in! Go inside!” Su-hyeok demanded and everyone turned around to see the zombies that had once gathered at the speaker were now chasing toward them.
“Shit! Go back!” You yelled.
“They're coming!” Dae-su yelled as he ran back into the classroom, everyone following close behind with Su-hyeok to be the last one there and the one who closed the door behind him.
“They can still see us!” You expressed nervously and speedily ran towards one of the curtains that hung across the wall with the doors in the room.
“Yes! The curtains. Come on!” Joon-yeong told everyone and they all ran to cover the windows with the curtains before pausing to take a deep breath of relief.
Nam-ra ran towards the windows facing the outside and closed those curtains before turning towards where the zombie stuck under the piano was.
“There's a zombie there,” you started as you walked towards her. “Don’t worry, though, it’s caught under a piano, so it can’t go anywhere.”
She nodded and you brought her into your arms for a tight hug. She sighed against your shoulder and you squeezed her harder before letting her go and giving her a tight smile. The both of you leaned back against two desks with your hands interlocked as the group started talking again.
“We can't… go to the roof…” Hyo-ryung stated sadly and your head turned to her. “We're trapped again, aren't we?” Although the sentence was a question, it was stated like a fact.
“There are zombies out there, so…” Su-hyeok started to explain and your eyes locked, you could feel your eyes burn by how he looked at you; with so much pain and regret and guilt and relief that you couldn’t handle it. You smiled at him before turning your head back so it was facing forward. “Let's just think a little.”
“This is so annoying,” you heard Nam-ra whisper irritatedly from beside you and you rubbed your thumb over her knuckles in an attempt to comfort her while also comforting yourself.
After a few beats of silence, only interrupted by the group’s heavy breathing, Hyo-ryung suddenly stood up and she looked at you and Nam-ra, horrified.
“Hey. Hey, Nam-ra,” she started and your gaze finally found its way to her face. “What happened to your arm?” She pointed towards your best friend’s arm while backing up. “That's a bite mark, isn't it?”
As everyone started to stand up and back away from the two of you, you just looked down at where her “bite” was and sure enough there was a bite there. Not moving or letting go of her in any way, you just stared at the bite in silence, biting your lip as tears sprung in your eyes and your nose stung.
“No. No, no, no. Please no! I can’t lose you!” You whispered as you begged whatever god was listening to hear your prayers and leaned your forehead onto Nam-ra’s shoulder. Su-hyeok came rushing up to defend her when Cheong-san charged forward with a music stand in his hands.
“No. That’s not it,” he tried to explain but Cheong-san was insistent.
“Move. Step back, Su-hyeok.”
“That's not it, asshole,” Su-hyeok explained harshly again and turned back to Nam-ra who had an arm wrapped around your shoulder to comfort you.
“Tell him. You weren't bitten by a zombie,” he begged her but she stayed silent. Your tears subsided as you heard him say that and now you just looked confused. “Say something!” From out of your eyesight, Dae-su and Wu-jin had snuck towards you and ripped you out of Nam-ra’s grasp, holding onto you tightly as you thrashed to go back to her.
As Su-hyeok stepped towards you at your cries in order to help, you saw Cheong-san dash forward with the music stand again and you screamed. “No!”
Su-hyeok rushed back to stand in front of Nam-ra and stop Cheong-san from delivering any blows.
“Gwi-nam! He bit her. It wasn’t zombies,” he explained. Your struggles died down in surprise and you just gaped at him in a state of shock.
“Who?” Cheong-san asked in confusion.
“Gwi-nam. The bully.”
“Yoon Gwi-nam?”
“Yeah,” Su-hyeok confirmed and Cheong-san turned to Nam-ra.
“Nam-ra. Did Gwi-nam really bite you?” She shot a glance at you but you didn’t notice from how you continued to stare at the boy who brought the heartbreaking and unbelievable news to you all. She nodded slightly.
“Say it clearly,” Cheong-san demanded.
“It’s true,” Su-hyeok had confirmed in Nam-ra’s stead since she was continuing to remain quiet.
“Gwi-nam was bitten by zombies,” Cheong-san told him and he scoffed in disbelief.
“Bullshit.”
“I saw him get bit. If you get bitten by zombies, you turn into one,” he explained what all of you already knew as if Su-hyeok had forgotten it. “So if Gwi-nam bit her-”
“He's not one of them!” Su-hyeok yelled and the zombies behind the curtains started growling louder and banging on the doors and windows. “Gwi-nam wasn't a zombie,” he stated more quietly but still in a stern and convinced tone. “He wasn’t. He literally talked to me,” he turned to Nam-ra for help but she hadn’t taken her eyes off of you. “You saw him. He wasn't a zombie at all.”
“What?”
Your soft voice cut through the air like a knife and everyone’s attention turned to you where you were still held onto by Dae-su even after you had stopped struggling. Su-hyeok and Cheong-san both looked at you with guilty eyes filled with remorse and regret.
“My brother did this? My brother bit you?” You asked as you looked at Nam-ra and she looked devastated. “A-and he’s… he’s a zombie?” You continued as tears streaked down your cheeks unwillingly. You turned to Cheong-san. “You saw him get bit? When was that? Why didn’t you tell me?” You let out, your breathing staggering and growing uneven as you continued to mentally comprehend all the information that was thrown at you in the past 2 minutes.
Su-hyeok let out a sigh of anger and regret. He couldn’t believe he had said all those things in front of you with no hesitation or tenderness. He carefully walked over to you and Dae-su let you go. Your knees buckled from the overwhelming sensation of your emotions rampaging but Su-hyeok caught you in his arms just in time before you fell. He whispered apologies into your hair as your tears soaked through his blazer despite how your body showed no other signs of you crying.
Nam-ra turned back to look at Cheong-san before standing up. “Are you sure he was bitten by a zombie?”
“Yeah,” he confirmed, his eyes only flickering away from you for a second to answer her question.
“So I'll turn into a zombie,” she concluded.
“No!” You screamed out and left Su-hyeok’s arms to rush over to her, grabbing her upper arms and squeezing as you looked her dead in the eyes. “You won’t. Su-hyeok said that Gw...” you stopped when your voice broke. “That he wasn’t a zombie, at least not a full zombie,” you turned around to look at the group, specifically at Cheong-san. “I’m not saying you’re a liar but I also believe that Su-hyeok had seen him and he wasn’t a zombie. She won’t turn. She won’t. I know it,” you stated confidently.
Nam-ra grabbed your hand and squeezed it, getting your attention and turning you back towards her. “(Y/n)...” She brought you into a proper hug and you sobbed once. “Thank you… I’ll never forget your friendship,” she whispered in your ear before pushing you away gently and walking towards the classroom door.
“Nam… please!” You begged and she stopped in the middle of the room, turning back to look at you.
“I always loved that nickname,” she turned back around to walk towards the door but you rushed forward to grab her hand.
“You won’t turn. You won’t,” you told her as convincingly as possible before wiping your tears aggressively and walking back towards the group, dragging her behind you as she struggled to free herself from your grip. You elbowed Su-hyeok lightly to continue with his defense and he started immediately.
“She won't turn into one. Don't you trust me?”
“I saw when Gwi-nam got bitten,” Cheong-san’s eyes flittered to you as he spoke and they were filled with guilt that seemed to increase with every pass over your face. “It happened after fighting with me.”
“I fought him, too. Believe me,” Su-hyeok grabbed your free hand with one of his own as he spoke and squeezed three times, the usual thing you two did to non-verbally express an apology. “I know.”
Squeezing Su-hyeok’s hand tightly, you shook him off and dragged Nam-ra over to the window where you yanked open the curtains and opened one of the windows, turning back around to face the group, your hand still holding onto hers.
“There. Problem solved. If she turns I’ll just push her out of the window and none of you will be harmed in the process. Okay? So put the fucking music stand down and back the fuck off,” you told all of them with a sharp glare.
“(Y/n),” Nam-ra tugged on your hand and brought your attention down to her. “You shouldn’t do this.”
You gaped at her, mouth opened slightly in slight disbelief. “Nam-ra. You are my best friend. Like hell am I letting you get away that easily.”
Your slight joke fell upon deaf ears as your serious tone covered it up.
“(Y/n),” you heard Cheong-san say to you and so you turned back to him.
“Back the fuck up.”
He lifted the music stand so he was holding it like a baseball bat and you glared at him, an act that unfortunately had no effect on him.
“I’m warning you, Cheong-san. Don’t come any closer,” you threatened but he just shot you back a glare of his own as his eyes filled with protectiveness.
“Screw you, (Y/n). I warned you first. Gyeong-su was enough, I won’t lose any more friends.”
You took a deep breath before spitting out your words with venom coating your tongue.
“Well then, I guess it’s a good thing we’re not friends. Isn’t it, Cheong-san?”
His glare hardened and he rolled his eyes. “You and I both know that fact has changed over the past day. You’ve made friends with everyone here no matter what you want to believe. We all care for you, which is exactly the reason why I’m not going to let you do this to yourself.”
“Well too fucking bad, because you can’t fucking stop me,” you told him, not bothering to speak about any of the previous things, knowing you would lose that argument.
“Get out of my way,” he demanded.
“Cheong-san, stop it,” Su-hyeok tried.
“Get out of my way!” he yelled again but your hold just tightened on Nam-ra’s hand while you stayed silent.
Su-hyeok pushed Cheong-san away and they started shoving each other when Nam-ra suddenly screamed out, “Stop it, both of you!”
They pushed each other away as both of them turned back to look at the two of you.
“If I feel strange in any way… I'll just end it quickly.”
You wiped away the stray tear that fell from your eyes at her words.
“Sorry, but-” Cheong-san started, about to convey more doubts about her condition until she interrupted him.
“No need to be sorry. I'm actually not sorry, not at all.”
“... sorry,” he continued and looked down in shame.
“Su-hyeok,” Nam-ra called out to him. “Kill me if I turn,” she turned to look at you. “I know you won’t be able to.”
“Hey, wait!” You called to her and tried to yank her back as she hopped up to sit on the ledge of the window but she just pulled your hands into her lap while her free one was holding onto the window frame to support her balance.
After a while, when you were leaning against the window and rubbing your fingers against the knuckles of Nam-ra’s hand while avoiding the eyes of Su-hyeok, you felt other eyes on you. You turned to look at Nam-ra only to see her staring intently at your neck. You smiled sadly as you knew what most likely was happening and not wanting to accept it.
“Nam?”
She grabbed your neck and pulled you closer to her just as you saw Cheong-san rush towards the both of you.
“(Y/n)!”
You turned your body so you were standing in front of Nam-ra to prevent her from receiving the blow, intending to take it yourself. You clenched your eyes tightly and waited for the pain to come but when the sound of the music stand hitting somebody’s body came, you felt nothing.
“Get out of the way!” Cheong-san yelled from behind you and you turned to see him with the music stand still in his hands except now it was broken and the top piece was across the room.
“Stop it!” Su-hyeok yelled at him from his place right in front of you where he was behind you just seconds before, and you finally connected the dots.
Su-hyeok took the blow for you.
Just as Cheong-san rushed forward, intending to strike again, Su-hyeok charged at him and slammed him on his back against a desk while raising a clenched fist in the air as a threat. “I said to stop it!”
“Stupid asshole!” Cheong-san yelled back and punched him in the face, successfully getting him off of him as they tussled around the room. You quickly moved to help Nam-ra as she weakly fell from the window sill and sat her into a chair while the boys fought on the other side of the room.
She breathed heavily and clenched her eyes shut as if fighting off something in her head. You heard different voices yelling over each other as they tried to break up the fight and turned back to see On-jo standing in front of the two of you and Su-hyeok holding Cheong-san back.
“Get out of my way! Let go of me!” He screamed as he resisted.
“Stop it. Are you blind? Look at Nam-ra,” On-jo surprised you as she defended your best friend. “She would have blood on her mouth if she bit her. Does she?” There was a pregnant pause as everyone looked at Nam-ra. “And she's not bleeding, right?” She defended more.
“It's true. There's no wound,” Dae-su pointed out as everyone then looked to you, no blood or wound from a bite anywhere on your body.
“But if Gwi-nam bit her-” Cheong-san started again.
“She's still fine, which means you'll be fine,” On-jo’s eyes shifted down to where he still held tightly to the music stand. “Come on, put that down. Stop being stubborn.”
The boy started to shake Su-hyeok off as he was still holding him. “Let go. I got it. Let go. Fuck,” he groaned.
“Why won't you drop that?” On-jo insisted.
“That's my business,” he told her and she rolled her eyes before turning to crouch down beside the two of you.
“Are you okay?” She questioned Nam-ra who stared forward blankly.
“Why do you care?”
“What?”
“It's just… it’s weird,” you started. “You've always hated us, so why are you suddenly starting to care now?”
On-jo looked down, “Sometimes, I still do,” she looked back up to stare you directly in the eye with an empathetic look. “But what's wrong is wrong.”
“She seems fine. Let's…” Wu-jin voiced after a silence once again settled over the group.
“She would've definitely turned by now,” reasoned Joon-yeong.
“No,” Nam-ra stated and stood up, you following her soon after to help her keep her balance while standing up straight, your hands separating in the process. “I'm not okay. I wanted to bite (Y/n).”
You stared at her in silence with a sad smile, knowing she was right and not being able to refute her words in any way.
“I really did,” she said again, still looking straight ahead, unable to meet your eyes. “I wanted to bite her.”
“Wait, what do you mean by that?” Cheong-san asked stupidly and you would have mocked him in any other circumstance.
“I mean… I wanted to bite her.

after trudging through the desolate streets for what feels like an eternity, the group finally reaches a critical juncture. you're walking behind kyungho, your senses on high alert as you tiptoe down the empty street. everyone's weapons are at the ready, prepared for a potential ambush by a horde of zombies. kyungho suddenly stops and leans against the building, peeking around the corner. the rest of the group follows suit, pressing themselves against the wall as they wait for kyungho's signal to proceed.
kyungho drapes his arm over your shoulder, gently guiding you to take a look at what's ahead. you carefully peer around the corner, your katana clutched tightly in your hand. kyungho's face is inches from yours, his warm breath on your skin as he points down the street. "there's two of them down the street," he whispers, "but the store is right there." he nods toward the back of a two-story building situated in the middle of the street. your heart skips a beat as you take in the sight, your stomach growling with anticipation at the prospect of finding food and shelter.
kyungho begins to outline his plan, "if i head over to unlock the door, you have to protect my—" but he's cut off by suhyeok's sudden bold move. suhyeok sprints down the street, bat in hand, and strikes the ground once, as if to announce his presence. then, with swift and deadly precision, he takes down the two zombies, smashing their faces with his bat as they crumple to the ground.
the group watches in awe, peeking around the corner to take in the scene. kyungho's eyes widen in surprise, and he chuckles, "or he can just do that." the tension is broken, and the group quickly scatters, moving towards the store. wujin, cheongsan, and suhyeok form a rear guard, watching the group's backs with their baseball bats at the ready, ensuring no other zombies sneak up on them. meanwhile, kyungho swiftly retrieves the keys from his bag and unlocks the door. he gently pushes you inside by the waist, ushering you into the safety of the store.
as you step inside, you're enveloped in darkness, the only light coming from candles scattered around the store and the faint slivers of sunlight peeking through the newspaper-covered windows. the air is stale, but the store seems quiet, a haven from the dangers outside.
as the last person steps inside, kyungho secures the door by wrapping a sturdy chain around the handle and locking it with a massive lock. the sound of the lock clicking into place is music to everyone's ears, and they let out a collective sigh of relief. as they look around, their eyes widen in shock and amazement. the store is a treasure trove of food and drinks, with fully stocked aisles and corners filled with cold beverages. "dig in, guys," kyungho says with a smile, patting your back softly as he walks by.
the group erupts into a frenzy of activity, scrambling to grab as much food and drink as they can. you sprint to the drink section and find the largest water bottle you can, twisting off the cap and chugging the water greedily. some of it spills down your neck, but you don't care – the refreshing taste is like heaven.
daesu's voice rings out across the store, "where's the ramyun?!" he shouts, racing through the aisles until he spots an entire section dedicated to his beloved noodles. he drops to his knees, overcome with emotion, and begins to sob. "thank you, god," he whispers, his hands clasped together in gratitude.
meanwhile, namra stands off to the side, observing the chaos with a detached air. her stomach growls with hunger, but she's not craving the usual food that would normally satisfy her. she's developed a strange, unsettling appetite, one that she can't quite explain. as she scans the surrounding area, she strains her ears to listen for any signs of movement or potential threats outside. but the only sounds she can hear are the contented noises of her companions: the smacking of lips, the gulping of drinks, and the groans of pleasure as they devour their food.
hroryeong's voice breaks the spell, "i could actually cry," she says, her eyes welling up with tears as she savors a full chocolate bar. sure enough, she begins to sob, overcome with emotion. wujin offers her a sympathetic pat on the back before chugging a soda bottle, some of the fizzy drink spilling onto the floor as he does so.
kyungho double-checks the security of the front doors now, tugging on the handles and jiggling them to ensure they're securely locked in place. he tests the doors, pulling and pushing to confirm that they don't budge, his actions methodical and deliberate as he makes certain that the group's temporary sanctuary is safe and secure.
you're winded by the time you've made it halfway through the bottle, and you lean against the cold beverage door to catch your breath. as you pause, your mind begins to wander to all the peers you've lost, and the fact that they'll never get to experience this moment of relief with you. the thought brings a pang of sadness, and you feel a lump form in your throat.
you make a silent vow to yourself to consume everything in their honor, a way of celebrating their memory and the struggles you've overcome. as you turn around, you're met with namra's gentle gaze, and she offers you a twinkie. you look up at her, and she hands you the snack, her slender fingers brushing against yours.
"thanks," you say softly, your voice barely above a whisper. namra's response is a small, enigmatic smile – a smile that you'll come to recognize as her signature expression.
as you gaze at namra, her eyes fixed on the ground, you pose a question that seems to have been avoided by everyone around you. "you okay?" the words hang in the air, heavy with unspoken concerns. namra's silence is palpable, but instead of responding, she reaches out and grasps your hand, her fingers intertwining with yours.
without a word, she leads you to the front of the store, where newspaper-covered windows block our view of the outside world. the air is thick with tension as she stops in front of the makeshift barrier. "if you need me to scout out supplies, i can do it without putting anyone at risk of getting caught," she says, her voice low and determined. you sense a deep-seated resolve in her words, a willingness to take on the challenges that lie ahead. "i'll come with you," you offer, but namra's expression turns resolute as she shakes her head. "too much of a risk," she whispers, her eyes locked onto yours, conveying a depth of understanding that goes unspoken.
as you begin to inquire about namra's hunger, the creaking of a door opening captures your attention, and you turn to see a doorway on the opposite side of the store. a steep staircase leads up to the second floor, and kyungho gestures toward it with a gracious smile. "there are beds upstairs, you're all welcome to rest there," he says, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "i'll be keeping watch down here, behind the register."
you return his smile, feeling a sense of gratitude toward this stranger who has taken you in. "thank you, that's sweet of you," you say, as you gently tug on namra's hand, encouraging her to follow you upstairs. the prospect of rest and a safe haven is a welcome respite, and you can sense namra's reluctance giving way to exhaustion as she allows you to lead her toward the staircase.
as you begin to ascend the stairs, the creaking of the wooden steps beneath your feet echoes through the quiet space. namra follows closely behind, her eyes fixed on the stairs ahead. you can sense her weariness, her body language screaming for rest. the upstairs area is dimly lit, with only a few faint rays of light peeking through the grimy windows. you see a few beds scattered about, each one neatly made with a thin blanket. the air is stale, but it's quiet and peaceful, a welcome respite from the chaos outside.
kyungho calls out from downstairs, "make yourselves at home." he points to a small area that you realized was a bathroom. "if you guys need to freshen up, there a shower."
"you're saying there's a shower?" you ask, your eyes widening in astonishment. the mere mention of it is almost too good to be true. you can't recall the last time you had the luxury of a shower, and the thought of being clean again is almost overwhelming. the group's collective stench had become a norm, something you'd all grown accustomed to.
kyungho nods, a charming smile spreading across his face as he leans against the doorway, his arms crossed. he seems to be savoring your reaction, and you can't help but laugh, a delirious, disbelieving sound. kyungho joins in, his laughter warm and genuine. "man, you guys have probably been through a lot," he says, shaking his head in sympathy. namra, who had been watching the exchange, turns to you and whispers that she'll go share the good news with the others.
as namra heads off to spread the news, you can't help but feel a sense of excitement and trepidation. a shower sounds like a luxury, but it's also a reminder of how long it's been since you've had access to basic amenities. you glance over at kyungho, who's still smiling at you, and feel a sense of gratitude toward this stranger who's offering you a glimmer of hope. "thank you," you say, your voice sincere. "this means a lot to us." kyungho's smile widens, and he nods, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "you're welcome," he says. "i'm just glad i can help. now, go enjoy that shower. you've earned it."
"that'd be nice, but i think i'll let the girls go first," you say, as you wander into one of the rooms, taking stock of the space. you notice that there are more than enough mattresses for everyone, and a sense of relief washes over you. kyungho observes your actions, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes.
"what a gentleman," he teases, his voice laced with a playful tone, as he leans against the doorway, watching you with a warm smile.
his words bring a flush to your cheeks, but you can't help but smile, feeling a sense of gratitude toward this kind stranger who's taking you in. you shrug off the compliment, feeling a slight blush rise to your cheeks. "its common sense," you say, attempting to downplay kyungho's praise. but he just chuckles and nods, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "well, whatever your motivations are, it's appreciated," he says, pushing off from the doorway and heading back toward the stairs. "i'll go get some more blankets, get comfortable." he disappears down the stairs, leaving you to continue exploring the makeshift shelter.
as kyungho descends the stairs, you take a moment to look around the room again, this time noticing the small details that make it feel more like a home. there's a small bookshelf in the corner, filled with worn paperbacks and dog-eared pages. a faded rug covers the floor, adding a touch of warmth to the space.
you hear the sound of footsteps coming from the stairs, and as the group makes their way upstairs, their faces light up with wonder and relief. the sight of a functional bathroom and comfortable sleeping quarters is almost too good to be true. wujin, ever the enthusiastic one, can't contain his excitement. "i call the first shower!" he shouts, already making a beeline for the bathroom. but before he can take another step, hari reaches out and grabs his ear, pulling him back with a playful scold. "women go first, idiot," mijin chimes in, her voice dripping with amusement and a hint of teasing. wujin rubs his ear, looking sheepish, but can't help grinning at the good-natured ribbing.
you can't help but laugh at the lighthearted exchange between wujin and the others. meanwhile, cheongsan and suhyeok wander into the adjacent room, their eyes scanning the space filled with beds. suhyeok lets out a deep sigh of relief, his shoulders sagging as he takes in the cozy atmosphere. "this is gonna be so nice," he breathes, his voice filled with gratitude.
as the group begins to settle in, they all remove their shoes and leave them outside in the hallway, a habitual gesture that speaks to their growing sense of comfort and security. the tension and wariness that had been palpable just hours before seem to be melting away, replaced by a sense of camaraderie and shared relief.
onjo takes charge, assigning the rooms with a practical sense of fairness. "the girls will take this room, and the boys can take that one," she declares, pointing to the room closest to the bathroom. the others nod in agreement, and the group begins to settle into their respective spaces.
just then, the sound of footsteps echoes up the stairs once more. kyungho appears, his arms laden with a pile of knitted blankets. "hey, i found a few more blankets," he announces, offering them up to the group. "anyone who tends to get cold can grab another one."
you consider reaching for an extra blanket, but then think better of it, realizing that some of the girls might need it more than you. and indeed, they quickly claim most of the blankets, leaving only two remaining in kyungho's hands. cheongsan notices your ripped shirt and gestures for you to take one of the remaining blankets. "you should get one, y/n," he suggests, his expression concerned. you nod, feeling a bit self-conscious about your torn clothing. you walk over to kyungho, giving him a smile as you take one of the blue blankets from his outstretched hand.
daesu's eyes light up with a warm smile as he whispers to himself, "kyungho's so nice." wujin catches the comment and nods in agreement, a matching smile spreading across his face. however, suhyeok's expression takes a different turn. his eyes narrow, and his face clouds with suspicion as he notices kyungho's gaze lingering on you. his eyes flicker with unease, and he seems to be sizing up the situation.
kyungho, oblivious to suhyeok's concerns, continues to offer his hospitality. "whoever is showering first can go ahead," he says, his eyes scanning the group. "i can hand-wash your clothing and leave it out to dry. in the meantime, there are clothes in the drawers in your rooms. i'm sure they belonged to the people who owned this place before, but they would've wanted you all to wear them." the group exchanges warm smiles and nods, grateful for kyungho's kindness. hroryeong's face lights up with a shy smile as she thanks kyungho again for saving them. kyungho responds with a thumbs-up and a reassuring smile. "no worries, really. you guys are all doing me a favor by not letting me be lonely," he says, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
the boys chuckle at kyungho's comment, but suhyeok remains stoic, his expression unreadable. the group's laughter and chatter fill the air as they begin to settle in, the warmth and comfort of their new surroundings slowly seeping in. kyungho watches them with a gentle smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he takes in the scene.
as the girls start to make their discussion on the bathroom, eager to take advantage of the shower, kyungho turns to you and asks, "do you need anything?" his voice is low and considerate, and you feel a sense of gratitude toward him.
meanwhile, suhyeok's eyes never leave kyungho's face, his expression a mask of suspicion and wariness. it's clear that he’s still not convinced of kyungho's intentions. "no, it's okay, i'm good," you say, waving your hand dismissively. "i'm just ready to get out of these clothes." you gesture to your dirty, torn clothing, feeling a sense of self-consciousness about your appearance.
kyungho's eyes follow your gesture, and he takes a step closer to you. he reaches out and gently takes hold of the torn part of your shirt, his index and middle fingers loosely grasping the fabric. "yeah, looks like you've been through a lot," he says, his voice filled with empathy. as he speaks, kyungho tilts his head to get a better look at the damage. his eyes scan the torn fabric, and then drift to the scratches on your skin, visible through the tears.
suhyeok's interruption grabbed both of your attention. "is the backdoor downstairs the only exit?" he asks, his eyes locked intently on kyungho. you turn to look at suhyeok, but only for a brief moment, before your gaze drifts back to kyungho. there's something about kyungho's calm and gentle demeanor that puts you at ease, and you find yourself drawn to him.
kyungho's expression changes, a flicker of surprise crossing his face, before he quickly composes himself. he points to the rooms, his gesture expansive. "besides the windows that slide open, yeah," he explains. "you're more than welcome to go out through the front door, but if any of them see you out there, you'd bring them right to the rest of us." kyungho's voice is laced with concern, and it's clear that he's thinking about their safety. suhyeok's question has brought a sense of unease to the group, and you can't help but wonder what's behind suhyeok's inquiry.
kyungho's question hangs in the air, and everyone's eyes turn to suhyeok, waiting for his response. "were you thinking of leaving?" kyungho asks, his tone neutral, but his eyes searching for answers.
suhyeok's expression is inscrutable, his arms crossing over his chest as he responds with a curt, "just curious." the words are dismissive, but the tension in his body language suggests that there's more to it. without another word, suhyeok turns and walks into the boys' room, leaving the rest of the group to wonder about his intentions. a small flag pops up in your mind, warning you that there's more to suhyeok's question than meets the eye. you're not sure what's driving his curiosity, but you have a feeling that it's not just idle wondering.
hroryeong's voice rings out, announcing that she's taking the first shower. you take the opportunity to head into the boys' room, where you see that most of the guys have already staked their claims on the beds by placing their weapons beside them.
you make your way to the bed that's deepest in the room and place your katana down beside it, claiming it as your own. as you look around, you notice daesu standing by the sliding windows, his eyes gazing out at something in the distance. his expression is melancholic, and you can sense a deep sadness emanating from him.
just then, wujin's voice cuts through the air, grabbing everyone's attention. "who wants to take the first shower after the girls finish?" he asks, his eyes scanning the room. you look up at wujin and shrug, "cheongsan should. he did a lot for us," you say, nodding in cheongsan's direction. suhyeok chimes in, his voice a little softer than usual, "yeah, cheongsan, you go first."
daesu lets out a deep sigh, his arms folding over his head as he complains, "man, it was really warm outside." his voice is laced with a whiny tone, and wujin can't help but grimace in response.
wujin's eyes dart to daesu, and he covers his nose, his voice muffled as he says, "maybe daesu should go first..." the suggestion is met with a chorus of agreements from the other boys, including you, as the pungent aroma wafting from daesu's armpits begins to fill the room. daesu's expression turns defensive, his arms slowly lowering as he accuses wujin, "stop lying! you can't even smell anything." wujin's face scrunches up in indignation, and he begins to argue, "why would i lie?" the two boys start to bicker back and forth, their voices rising in a comedic display of denial and accusation.
you step out of the shower, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. the warm water has washed away the dirt and grime of the day, leaving you feeling clean and revitalized. your damp hair clings to your face, and you try to push it back, away from your forehead. you're surprised to notice that your hair seems longer when it's wet, and you make a mental note to get it cut soon.
you slide open the wooden door to the boys' bedroom, expecting to see the others lounging around. but to your surprise, the room is empty. you assume that everyone must be downstairs, and you're left alone in the quiet, peaceful space.
you look down at your outfit, feeling the soft, lightweight fabric of the plain dark blue pajama shirt and pants. it's a simple but comfortable ensemble, and you appreciate the feeling of the gentle cotton against your skin. you take a deep breath, feeling relaxed and at ease, and begin to make your way downstairs to join the others.
you make your way down the stairs, and your eyes scan the room, taking in the scene. some of the girls are gathered around kyungho, their faces aglow with excitement as they listen to him talk about his studies. they're practically swooning over his every word, and you can't help but chuckle at the sight.
your gaze drifts to the corner of the room, where hari and mijin are sitting together, chatting quietly. they're both smiling, and their body language suggests that they're having a relaxed and enjoyable conversation. you continue to scan the room, searching for wujin. you spot him and cheongsan standing in front of a shelf, engaged in a heated debate. they're arguing over which brand of garlic chips is superior, and their voices are rising in excitement.
you call out to wujin, letting him know that it's his turn to take a shower. his face lights up, and he instantly tosses the bags of chips to cheongsan. "i'll be right back!" he exclaims, before turning and making a beeline for the stairs. wujin's enthusiasm is palpable, and he's in such a hurry that he trips twice on the stairs before he reaches the bathroom. you can't help but laugh at his antics, and you shake your head in amusement.
as wujin disappears, you can't help but smile at his energetic behavior. you turn your attention back to the rest of the group, noticing that kyungho is still regaling the girls with stories of his studies. hari and mijin are still chatting quietly in the corner, looking relaxed and comfortable.
cheongsan, on the other hand, is still standing in front of the shelf, looking triumphant as he holds up the bags of garlic chips. he catches your eye and grins, clearly proud of having won the argument with wujin.
you chuckle to yourself, feeling grateful for the sense of camaraderie and friendship that's developed within the group. despite the challenges and dangers you've faced, you're all managing to find moments of joy and laughter together. as you continue to observe the group, you notice that suhyeok is still sitting off to the side, looking a bit subdued.
you feel a pang of frustration with yourself as you realize that your heart is trying to get the better of you. you're drawn to suhyeok, despite his odd behavior, and you find yourself wanting to check in on him, to make sure he's okay. you curse your heart for its weakness, and force yourself to look away, trying to ignore the concern that's rising up inside you.
just then, cheongsan speaks up, his voice low and understanding. "he's gonna be alright," he says, his eyes following your gaze to suhyeok. "i think he's stressing because this wasn't part of the plan."
cheongsan's words are like a splash of cold water, bringing you back to reality. you realize that suhyeok's behavior is likely due to the unexpected turn of events, and that he's probably just feeling overwhelmed. you nod in understanding, trying to push aside your concern for suhyeok and focus on the bigger picture.
you turn to cheongsan, your eyes filled with hope as you ask, "you think we can reach the mountain?" your voice is laced with a mix of worriesome and trepidation, and you can't help but feel a sense of uncertainty. cheongsan's expression is reassuring, and he nods confidently. "we'll make it, all of us," he says, his voice firm and resolute. "so stop worrying so much about it." he adds, his tone playful as he reaches out to push your shoulder gently.
you nod, trying to muster up a smile, but it's tinged with worry. you can't shake off the feeling of unease, and you're not sure if you'll really be able to make it to the mountain safely. but with cheongsan's reassurance, you try to push aside your doubts and focus on the task at hand.
"have you seen namra?" you ask cheongsan, and he points to the front of the store. you follow his gesture and see namra kneeling beside a small bonsai plant. the plant looks like it was carefully tended to before the apocalypse, and you can't help but wonder who might have been growing it.
you approach namra quietly, but she turns around before you can sneak up on her. "how'd you know i was behind you?" you ask, feeling a little surprised.
namra's response is casual, but it sends a flutter through your chest. "i recognize your steps," she says. "you always step like you're careful something might jump in front of you." her words are simple, but they reveal a level of awareness and attention to detail that makes you feel seen. you kneel down beside her, feeling a little self-conscious about your habits. "i guess it's a bad habit," you say, clearing your throat. you both sit there in silence for a moment, looking at the bonsai plant. the quiet is comfortable, and you feel a sense of ease with namra that you don't always feel with others.
namra's eyes are fixed on your face as you gently rub the leaves of the bonsai tree, oblivious to her gaze. she takes a moment to glance behind her, noticing suhyeok sitting on an upside-down bucket, staring at his knuckles. he's wearing an all-white thin pajama set, and namra can't help but think that he looks softer, more vulnerable, in white.
she turns her attention back to you, her expression careful. "he likes you," she says, her voice low and matter-of-fact. you snap your head towards her, your eyes wide with surprise. "wait, really? you think so?" you ask, your voice filled with excitement.
namra nods, her expression serious. "he cares a lot about you. did you know that?" she asks, her voice soft. you look around, as if checking to make sure no one is listening, before responding.
"well," you say, a smile spreading across your face, "i thought maybe he was into guys, but i wasn't sure." you admit, shrugging. namra's expression changes to one of disbelief and confusion. "you weren't sure?" she asks, her voice incredulous. you nod, matter-of-factly. "yeah, it's kinda hard to tell."
namra's eyes sparkle with curiosity as she asks, "even after he kissed you?" her words are innocent, but they send a shockwave through you. you stop dead in your tracks, turning to her with a confused expression. "what did you just say?" you ask, blinking rapidly as you try to process her words.
namra's face flushes with embarrassment, and she looks away, her voice barely above a whisper. "i saw, i'm sorry, i didn't mean to." she's clearly uncomfortable, and you can tell she didn't mean to spill the beans. your mind is reeling as you try to understand what's going on. "what? kyungho didn't kiss me?" you ask, feeling bewildered. namra's expression changes to one of confusion, and she looks back at you. "kyungho?" she repeats, clearly unsure what you're talking about. you nod, waiting for her to explain what she meant. your heart is racing with anticipation, and you can't help but wonder who she's talking about. it couldnt be..could it?
namra's words hang in the air like a challenge, and your entire world freezes in that moment. "i'm talking about... suhyeok," she finally says, her voice barely above a whisper. you're stunned, unsure of how she could possibly know about the kiss. it was in the middle of the night, and you thought you two were being quiet.
your mind is racing with questions, but before you can even process your thoughts, namra speaks up again. "i won't tell anyone if you don't want me to," she says, her expression reassuring. she can see the shock and confusion written all over your face, and she's trying to put you at ease.
you blink slowly, still trying to wrap your head around the fact that namra knows about the kiss. "how...?" you ask softly, your voice barely above a whisper. namra takes a deep breath before explaining, her words spilling out in a gentle rush. "i couldn't sleep that night," she says. "i heard and saw everything that happened."
you let out a sigh and bury your face in your arms, still kneeling on the ground. namra's hand finds its way to the top of yours, and she gives it a gentle squeeze. you feel a sense of comfort from her touch, and her words that follow only add to the feeling.
"i could hear his heart beating," she says softly. "it was steady throughout most of it." you lift your head, confusion etched on your face. "..so?" you ask, seeking clarity on what she's trying to say.
namra's gaze drifts behind her, to where suhyeok is sitting, looking troubled. "which means he wasnt lying," you follow her line of sight, and your gaze softens as you take in the sight of him. suddenly, flashbacks of the two of you walking home together every day flood your mind. the feeling of safety and friendship that you experienced during those walks blossoms in your chest, and you can't help but feel a sense of affection towards suhyeok.
you continue, your voice barely above a whisper. "then you'd also know how he was scared to be seen with me..." you bring your fist to your heart, feeling it racing in your chest. you're not sure what emotion is causing it, but you know you need to calm down. as you speak, you can feel a lump forming in your throat, and your eyes start to well up with tears. you bite back a pout, trying to hold back the emotions that are threatening to overwhelm you. your eye line begins to water, and you look away, trying to compose yourself. the memory of suhyeok's fear of being seen with you is still raw, and it's clear that it's still affecting you deeply.
you take a deep breath, trying to calm down and process your emotions. namra's hand is still on top of yours, and she gives it a gentle squeeze, offering you comfort and support.
"hey, it's okay," she says softly, her voice full of empathy. "he was scared, but that doesn't mean he didn't care about you. people are complicated, and sometimes they do things that hurt us without meaning to." you look up at namra, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her. she's always been a good listener, and her words of wisdom are just what you need to hear right now.
you take another deep breath, feeling your emotions begin to settle. you look over at suhyeok, who's still sitting on the bucket, looking troubled. you can't help but wonder what's going through his mind, and whether he's still scared of being seen with you. namra's words are cryptic, and you look at her with confusion. "i asked him... back at the storage closet," she says, leaving you wondering what she's talking about.
but then she adds, "i asked if he liked you," and your eyes go wide with surprise. you're eager to hear more, and you wait with bated breath for namra to continue.
however, suhyeok's name is called out by daesu, and he reluctantly gets up to head over. namra's gaze follows him, but then she turns back to you. "what did he say?" you ask, staring into her eyes, hoping to find some answers. namra's expression is sympathetic, and she says, "he didn't say anything." you sigh, feeling a pang of disappointment. but then namra adds, "but, he looked at me and i heard his heart beat rise quickly." her words are like a ray of hope, and you can't help but feel a spark of achievement.
you feel a flutter in your chest as you process namra's words. the fact that suhyeok's heart beat rose quickly when she asked him about you suggests that he might have feelings for you after all.
you look over at suhyeok, who's now talking to daesu, and you can't help but wonder what's going through his mind. does he really like you? and if so, why hasn't he said anything?
namra's hand is still on top of yours, and she gives it a gentle squeeze. "don't worry," she says softly. "i'm sure he'll come around eventually." you nod, feeling a sense of gratitude towards namra. she's always been a good friend to you, and her words of encouragement mean a lot. as you continue to talk to namra, you can't help but steal glances at suhyeok, wondering what the future might hold for the two of you.
you pause, collecting your thoughts before speaking. "it's not that," you say, your voice barely above a whisper. namra looks at you curiously, sensing that there's more to your words.
you take a deep breath, hesitating for a moment before admitting the truth. "i'm not sure if i even want him anymore," you say, your voice laced with uncertainty. namra's expression changes, and she looks at you with surprise. she didn't expect you to say that, and you can tell she's wondering what's going through your mind. you look away, feeling a little vulnerable. you're not sure why you're unsure about suhyeok. you care about him deeply, but you're not sure if your feelings for him are romantic. you're confused, and you don't know what to do.
namra's expression softens, and she nods understandingly. "it's okay to be unsure," she says gently. "feelings can be complicated, and it's normal to take time to figure them out."
you nod, feeling a sense of relief wash over you. it's nice to know that namra understands, and that you're not alone in your confusion. "do you think... he'd wait for me to figure things out?" you ask hesitantly, looking over at suhyeok, who's still talking to daesu. namra follows your gaze, and then turns back to you. "i think he might," she says with a small smile.
you can't help but laugh as you wipe your eyes, making sure no tears fall. "when did you become a love doctor?" you ask, amusement dancing in your voice. you scoff and look away, a small smile still playing on your lips. namra's eyes sparkle with mirth as she catches your teasing tone. "did you just scoff at me? ms. namra?" you tease her further, trying to stifle a grin. namra shakes her head, a smile still plastered on her face. she stands up, her movements fluid and effortless. "you're ridiculous," she says, her voice laced with affection. she looks down at you, her eyes shining with warmth. "but i'm always here for you, no matter how ridiculous you get deskmate."
namra offers you her hand, and you take it with a smile, feeling a sense of gratitude and affection towards her. "likewise," you say, your voice sincere.
but then namra's expression changes, and she whispers a name that makes your heart skip a beat. "so... kyungho?" she says, a small smile playing on her lips. your ears turn bright red as you realize that you've unintentionally shared your secret crush. you feel a wave of embarrassment wash over you, and you look away, trying to play it cool. but it's too late, namra's already seen the look on your face, and she knows that you have feelings for kyungho.
you try to brush it off, but namra's knowing gaze makes you feel like you've been caught red-handed. you can't believe you let your secret slip out, and now namra knows that you have a crush on kyungho.
namra's smile grows wider, and she gives your hand a gentle squeeze. "don't worry, your secret is safe with me," she whispers, her voice full of amusement. you look at her, feeling a mix of relief and embarrassment. you're glad that namra is being understanding, but you're still mortified that you let your secret slip out.
"thanks," you say, your voice barely above a whisper. namra nods, still smiling, and you can't help but wonder what she's thinking.
you hear a familiar voice calling out to you, and you turn to see horyeong smiling and waving you over to her. "y/n-ie!" she exclaims, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. you can't help but notice kyungho standing on the other side of the register, his muscular arms and chest on full display in his muscle shirt. hari, mijin, and horyeong are all gazing at him with interest, and you find yourself sneaking a few peeks as well.
mijin smirks at you, "kyungho-nim is gonna pour us some drinks." she says, and you raise an eyebrow in surprise. "really?" you ask, looking around at the others. daesu stands up, enthusiasm written all over his face. "count me in!" he exclaims, raising a finger in the air. hari chimes in, "add two more," with a nonchalant nod in kyungho's direction.
kyungho smiles at hari, "you got it," and begins mixing drinks with a combination of soju and beer. you watch with curiosity, unsure of what to expect. as someone who's recently come of age to drink legally, you've never really had the opportunity to try alcohol before. your father's struggles with alcoholism had always made you wary of drinking, but now you're not so sure.
hroryeong's bright smile is infectious as she asks loudly, "onjo, you want one?" she's clearly excited, and you can't help but notice that she seems happier than usual. you attribute it to the presence of kyungho, who's still busy mixing drinks behind the register. maybe his handsome face has brought out her confident side, especially after she's freshened up from her shower. onjo shakes her head, declining the offer, and cheongsan chimes in, "leave us out." hroryeong nods, unfazed, and continues to chat with the others, still beaming with enthusiasm. the atmosphere is lively, and you can't help but feel a little left out, wondering if you should join in on the fun and try one of kyungho's mysterious drinks.
kyungho's smile is still plastered on his face as he gestures behind you, asking "what about you big-man?" you turn to see who he's addressing, and your eyes land on suhyeok, who looks decidedly annoyed. he's wearing all-white pajamas, which somehow makes him appear less intimidating than usual.
daesu's laughter rings out as he chimes in, "yeah, c'mon bare-su!" he exclaims, using suhyeok's well-known nickname. you can't help but feel a twinge of distaste at the nickname, mainly because it's a reference to suhyeok's peculiar habit of not wearing socks with shoes. suhyeok's expression remains serious as he crosses his arms, leaning against an aisle. "count me out too," he says, his voice firm. you can't help but wonder why he's being so stubborn.
kyungho's eyes lock onto yours, and he asks, "what about you, y/n-ie?" the added cuteness at the end of your name makes you feel a flutter in your chest, and you can't help but feel a little shy.
"me?" you ask, shocked, as if you're surprised he's even considering you. hroryeong's smile falters as she looks between you and kyungho, a confused expression on her face. she seems to be wondering how close the two of you really are. meanwhile, daesu's eyes narrow slightly as he looks at kyungho with suspicion. kyungho raises an eyebrow, his expression daring you to say no. "yeah, sorry. is it cool if i call you that?" he asks, his voice low and smooth.
you laugh, feeling a little self-conscious, and reply, "sure, i don't mind." you pause for a moment before adding, "i don't mind a drink either," as you fidget with your pajamas, feeling a little more aware of your appearance.
kyungho's low, smooth voice sends a shiver down your spine, and you can't help but straighten your posture, feeling a little more alert. "good," he says, his tone dripping with a quiet confidence that makes you feel a little fluttery inside.
just as you're processing the effect of kyungho's voice, you're startled by a sudden movement beside you. hroryeong is pushed aside, and suhyeok's long arm reaches over you, placing a plastic cup still in its bag on the table in front of you. "i'll take one," suhyeok says, his voice low and even, but with a hint of authority. you don't dare to look up at him, sensing a subtle tension in his tone. instead, you keep your eyes fixed on the cup, wondering what just happened.
the atmosphere around you seems to shift slightly, with a subtle undercurrent of tension. kyungho's eyes flicker to suhyeok, a hint of surprise and curiosity in his expression.
hroryeong, who had been pushed aside, clears her throat and steps back, her eyes darting between suhyeok and kyungho. "alright, so... two drinks, then?" she asks, trying to break the tension. kyungho nods, his expression neutral once more. "yeah, two more drinks. coming right up." he turns back to the counter, his movements fluid and efficient as he begins to prepare the drinks.
as kyungho continues to prepare the drinks, the tension in the air seems to dissipate slightly. suhyeok, however, remains standing beside you, his presence still radiating a sense of quiet intensity.
daesu, seemingly sensing the awkwardness, attempts to lighten the mood. "what made you change your mind?" he asks, his voice cheerful and curious. suhyeok's response is low and even, "just thought i'd join in." his tone doesn't invite further questioning, and hroryeong wisely decides not to push the issue. meanwhile, kyungho slides two drinks across the counter, his eyes meeting suhyeok's for a brief moment before he looks away. "enjoy," he says, his voice neutral. you pick up your drink, feeling a little uncertain about what to expect.
as daesu calls for a toast, everyone raises their drinks in unison, cheering and clinking their cups together. you join in, feeling a sense of camaraderie with the group. as you take a gulp of your drink, the liquid burns its way down your throat, making you grimace.
as you tip your head back, your eyes wander from the cup to suhyeok, who's also downing his drink. your gaze is drawn to the column of his neck, stretched out as he tilts his head back. suddenly, you're struck by the size difference between you and suhyeok. his broad shoulders and tall frame make you feel almost dainty in comparison. you can't help but stare, feeling a little awestruck by suhyeok's imposing presence. his eyes, still closed as he swallows his drink, seem to be savoring the moment, and you find yourself wondering what he's thinking.
the tranquility of the moment is shattered by a loud, booming voice echoing from the stairs. "why the hell didn't you guys save me one?" wujin's angry shout sends a ripple of amusement through the group.
daesu, quick-witted as ever, shouts back, "we were waiting, brother-in-law!" his response is met with a burst of laughter from the others. hari, however, takes a more... creative approach. with lightning-fast reflexes, she grabs the nearest object and hurls it at daesu's head. the room erupts into chaos as daesu ducks and weaves, narrowly avoiding the projectile.
mijin's arm brushes against your shoulders as she attempts to draw you into a friendly embrace. "did you like the drink?" she asks, her voice tinged with curiosity.
you gaze down at the bottom of your cup, recalling the unexpected flavor. "it wasn't exactly how i imagined it would taste..." you admit, trying to be diplomatic. mijin's laughter chimes in, and she playfully teases, "yeah." you both share a laugh, your grimaces mirroring each other's as you remember the drink's unusual taste.
as the night wears on, the group finds themselves in a circle on the floor, surrounded by the refrigerated drinks. the hours have slipped away, and midnight is fast approaching. the air is thick with laughter and the smell of snacks and ramen.
more than half the group is now tipsy or downright drunk, and the jokes are getting progressively sillier. wujin, still chuckling, nudges cheongsan and begs him to repeat a joke. cheongsan rolls his eyes, claiming it wasn't that funny, but mijin disagrees, her laughter echoing through the room as she leans against hari, who's also giggling. kyungho gets up to grab a water bottle from one of the fridges behind them, but before he can even take a sip, daesu snatches it from him and starts drinking from it too. the absurdity of the situation sends you into a fit of giggles, and you double over, holding your stomach in laughter. namra watches you with a warm smile, clearly amused by your reaction.
still riding the wave of laughter, you propose, "lets take one more shot!" daesu and wujin erupt into cheers, their enthusiasm infectious and making you even more hyped. in this moment, you're grateful for these two friends, knowing they'll always be up for a good time.
wujin shouts, "yeah, let's do it!" as he nudges suhyeok, who responds with a calm smile and a casual flick of his hair. mijin teases him, "i feel like you're not on the same level as us..." suhyeok just laughs and says, "i'm just feeling warm."
kyungho chimes in, "hey, you could be a good drinker." mijin and hari exchange shocked glances, seemingly surprised by the suggestion. the room falls silent for a moment, awaiting suhyeok's response to kyungho's provocative comment.
suhyeok's enigmatic response, "something like that," hangs in the air as you take the soju bottle and begin pouring shots for those who want them. "hroryeong, you want some?" you ask, but she shakes her head, her eyes already half-closed as she leans back against the aisle. "no, i'm done," she says, her voice laced with exhaustion. daesu seizes the opportunity to tease her, "she can't keep up!" he laughs, and the room erupts into a fit of laughter. you're caught off guard, and your giggles become uncontrollable. you put your head down, trying to compose yourself, but it's no use. the laughter is too much, and you're happy to let it consume you.
as the laughter overtakes you, you feel someone gently pry the bottle from your grasp. you don't even bother to open your eyes, too caught up in the hilarity of the moment. instead, you let your body relax, laying back on the ground as the laughter continues to shake your frame.
onjo slips into your spot, taking over the task of pouring shots for the others. you're vaguely aware of onjo, cheongsan, and namra being the only ones still sober, but even that thought is enough to send you into another fit of giggles. the three of them seem to be enjoying the show, watching their friends with amused smiles.
namra's gentle hands guide you back into a seated position, and she tenderly fixes your disheveled hair. onjo's compliment, "aigoo, y/n, you're so cute," makes you blush, and you pull your knees to your chest, feeling a little self-conscious.
you bow your head, murmuring a soft "thank you," which prompts cheongsan to chuckle and shake his head. just as kyungho is about to ask if everyone is ready for the shot, you suddenly speak up, "wait! where's joonyeong? he needs one." your words are met with an awkward silence, and the laughter that had filled the room just moments before dies down. you look around the circle, expecting to see joonyeong's familiar face, but he's nowhere to be found. "did he go upstairs?" you ask, a hint of concern creeping into your voice. you shout his name, "joonyeong!" but there's no response. namra and onjo exchange an uncertain glance, before turning to look at you, seemingly surprised by your seriousness. the room remains silent, with all eyes on you, as you wait for a response that doesn't come.
daesu's slurred words cut through the awkward silence, "what did you say?" he asks, his eyes squinting slightly as he tries to focus.
you brush your hair out of your face, feeling a warm flush spread through your body as the alcohol takes hold. "huh? joonyeong," you repeat, your tone casual, as if you're discussing something mundane. you shrug, looking around at the others, who are still wearing serious expressions. "what? should we not invite him?" you ask, a hint of confusion creeping into your voice. you laugh, thinking it's all some kind of joke, but the others' somber faces only add to your confusion.
namra's soft voice breaks the silence, "y/n..." she says, her words trailing off as she hesitates to repeat the painful events of just a couple of hours ago. but before she can continue, cheongsan interrupts, "asleep." his voice is firm, but his eyes betray a hint of sadness. "remember? he said he was tired," he adds, his words a gentle lie.
the group's attention turns to cheongsan, their faces a mix of confusion and sadness. you, however, seem to accept his explanation, thinking for a moment before nodding, "oh, you're right. i kinda remember that now." you point at cheongsan, a look of vague recollection on your face. the others exchange somber glances, their expressions a mix of sorrow and confusion. it's clear that they're struggling to understand how you could have forgotten, or perhaps, how you could have thought joonyeong was still alive. the atmosphere in the room grows heavier, weighed down by the unspoken truth.
kyungho, sensing the awkwardness in the air, attempts to shift the mood with a sudden declaration, "okay, let's take this shot then!" the others, grateful for the distraction, quickly grab their shots and cheer before downing them.
as you tilt your head back to take the shot, your hand seems to move of its own accord, spilling some of the liquid down your chin and onto your neck. you hastily swallow the remaining drink in your mouth, wincing slightly at the burning sensation. wujin's enthusiastic "woo!" cuts through the air, followed by nods of agreement from the others. "that was good," he declares, savoring the taste. hari, meanwhile, admits, "i wish i knew drinking games," a hint of wistfulness in her voice.
you bring your fingers to your neck, assessing the damage from the spilled drink. your eyes, now hazy from the alcohol, gaze upward to find kyungho gently wiping your chin with a small towel. he flashes a warm smile, asking, "did you even drink any?" his smile is infectious, and you can't help but laugh. for a moment, you're tempted to lean into his touch, but a tiny voice of dignity within you protests, urging you to maintain some semblance of composure. "i did, i promise," you reply, trying to sound convincing, before a hiccup escapes your lips, betraying your inebriated state.
onjo stands up, adjusting her pants as she announces, "okay, i think i'm gonna take hroryeong upstairs and sleep." you immediately protest, "no! onjo, stay here," but she's resolute.
hari chimes in, "i'mma head upstairs too," and together, hari and onjo carefully lift hroryeong and begin to make their way up the stairs. you watch them go, feeling a pang of disappointment. as you turn to mijin, you ask, "you're staying, right?" but mijin looks uncertain, glancing back and forth between you and hari, who's now disappearing up the stairs. you tease her, "whatever, just go," and laugh, trying to make light of the situation.
mijin hesitates for a moment before she too decides to head upstairs. "alright, i'll go," she says, before turning to leave. you watch her go, feeling a bit deserted.
the group has dwindled significantly, leaving only a handful of people remaining. you glance around at the others, noticing that the atmosphere has become more subdued. kyungho catches your eye and smiles, and you can't help but smile back. "so, what's next?" wujin asks, breaking the silence. he looks around at the others, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "should we play another round?"
the playful banter between mijin and wujin continues, with the others watching with amused smiles. kyungho chuckles and shakes his head, "you two are something else." suhyeok, who had been quietly observing the exchange, suddenly speaks up, "actually, i think wujin has a point." he says, his voice calm and measured. "we could play a game. something to liven things up." the group's attention turns to suhyeok, intrigued by his suggestion. "what kind of game?" daesu asks, his curiosity piqued.
"how about 'rock, paper, scissors, shot'?" you suggest, a mischievous grin spreading across your face. "we can play a best-of-three series, and the loser of each round has to take a shot."
mijin's eyes sparkle with excitement. "oh, i love that game," she says, already pouring herself a shot. "it's so simple, but so brutal." wujin chuckles. "yeah, and it's a great way to get drunk quickly." kyungho nods, a competitive glint in his eye. "alright, let's play. i'm going to crush you all."
the air is electric as everyone prepares for a thrilling round of "rock, paper, scissors, shot." kyungho's voice cuts through the tension, "ready?" the group collectively holds their breath, focusing intently. "rock, paper, scissors!" kyungho exclaims, and in unison, everyone reveals their hand.
namra and cheongsan opt out, leaving you, wujin, daesu, mijin, and suhyeok to battle it out. the results are in, and daesu and mijin triumphantly shout, "we got scissors!" a glance around reveals that everyone else had chosen paper. you can't help but sigh, knowing daesu and mijin are off the hook. wujin breaks the silence, "okay, us four, let's go." the others prepare for another round as kyungho's voice rings out once more, "rock, paper, scissors!" but this time, you notice your vision starting to blur. you blink hard, struggling to refocus.
as you take stock of the situation, you breathe a sigh of relief to see wujin and kyungho are safe, but your anxiety quickly returns as you realize you and suhyeok are the last two remaining. kyungho's enthusiastic shout of "come on y/n!" breaks the tension, while wujin offers suhyeok a supportive pat on the back. the group's energetic chant of "rock, paper, scissors!" fills the air, and you throw a rock, only to have suhyeok try to sneak in a scissors before swiftly changing to paper. you catch him in the act, smacking his hand away, and the group erupts in laughter, with suhyeok joining in. namra observes the scene, noting the way this lighthearted moment has effortlessly dissipated the tension between you and suhyeok.
as suhyeok reaches for a cup, the room erupts in a chorus of cheering, with everyone chanting his name. he chugs the contents instantly, and the crowd goes wild. your gaze lingers on him, and you can't help but notice how captivating suhyeok looks in this moment.
your eyes grow heavier, and your head spins slightly. daesu slurs, "y/n is so drunk," but it's clear he's not one to talk, given his own inebriated state. you turn to him, shaking your finger in mock scolding, "you're worse than he is!" mijin points at daesu, cackling uncontrollably as she topples backward. namra's voice trails off as she mentions heading upstairs to check on the girls, and in an instant, she's gone. the sudden absence isn't even registered until an hour later, when a careless reach for her reveals only empty space.
kyungho's subtle posture hadn't caught your attention - he was leaning on his side, head propped up, and gazing at you with an intriguing smile. mijin, however, had noticed and couldn't help but react with a raised eyebrow. she nudged wujin and discreetly pointed to kyungho, prompting wujin to tilt his head in confusion.
in a slightly slurred tone, mijin asked, "so, kyungho, are you...into guys or girls?" the question hung in the air, and you froze, apprehensive about the potential fallout. even in your intoxicated state, a thread of fear managed to weave its way into your relaxed demeanor. kyungho paused, taking a moment to collect his thoughts. his gaze drifted to the bottle in his hand before he replied, "i like what i like." as he spoke, his eyes locked onto yours, and he took a sip from his bottle. daesu, who was leaning against wujin, caught the intense look and immediately sought wujin's confirmation, as if to validate what he thought he was seeing.
daesu's voice cuts through the air, a hint of forced nonchalance betraying his drunken state. "so, what's your thoughts on my friend here?" he asks, his gesture in your direction drawing attention to you like an unwanted spotlight.
you feel your face grow warm as the conversation continues, your embarrassment simmering just below the surface. "guys, shut up," you interject, your voice low and even, as you turn to wujin. "can you pass me that water bottle?" you ask, nodding towards the refrigerated doors behind him. wujin complies, retrieving the bottle with a bit of clumsiness, his movements a reminder of the evening's events.
kyungho's response is laced with a hint of mischief. "let's just say, i like what i see," he admits, his words sparking a contagious laughter from mijin, who playfully punches him in the arm. her eyes sparkle with giddy excitement at the subtle confession. meanwhile, you maintain a poker face, sipping on the cold water that brings some relief to your embarrassed flush.
kyungho's smirk returns as he recounts your first meeting. "seriously, i was drawn to his charm," he says, his gaze locked on yours. "he was sweet," he adds, his expression sincere. you nod in agreement, giving a thumbs up that sets off a round of laughter. however, not everyone shares the amusement. suhyeok's eyeroll and scoff don't go unnoticed by kyungho, who turns to face him with a serious, low tone. "you don't think so?" the room falls silent, with all eyes on suhyeok.
suhyeok's gaze drifted sideways, his annoyance palpable as he was met with yet another overly flattering comment. "i didn't say anything," he muttered, his tone subdued. kyungho, however, wasn't one to let things slide. "oh, come on," he pressed, taking a sip of his drink. "you were thinking something. the eye roll was a dead giveaway." his words hung in the air, making you feel uneasy for the second time. in that moment, you couldn't help but wish namra was by your side.
suhyeok shakes his head, his expression a mix of concern and amusement. "i think you've had one too many, friend," he says, nodding towards kyungho's drink. kyungho raises an eyebrow, his voice laced with a hint of defiance. "i'm not even tipsy, but i'm a man who values honesty. if you're going to call me out, i'll tell it like it is. apparently, that's not your style." the air is thick with tension as the two lock eyes. sensing the unease, you intervene, your voice soft and soothing. "how about we play another round?”
mijin breaks the tension with a nervous chuckle, "come on guys, let's not ruin the night." wujin chimes in, his awkward smile a testament to the discomfort in the air. "i'm game for another round, but..." kyungho sits up, his eyes fixed intently on suhyeok, "actually, can we clear the air? if suhyeok's not cool with me flirting with y/n, i'd like to know why." the atmosphere grows heavier, the group's attention now squarely on suhyeok.
suhyeok's demeanor shifted in an instant, his eyes transforming into those of a wolf poised to strike. the atmosphere grew thick with tension as you felt a shiver run down your spine. desperate to escape the uncomfortable encounter, you attempted to stand, but a wave of dizziness washed over you, forcing you back into your seat.
concerned voices filled the air as wujin asked, "y/n, are you okay?" mijin's grip on your arm tightened, her eyes filled with worry. "i'm really tired all of a sudden," you stammered, struggling to keep the tension calm. mijin swiftly took charge, helping you to your feet and draping your arm over her shoulders. "let's get you to bed," she said, guiding you upstairs as you stumbled, your vision blurring. "everything is so... fuzzy," you mumbled, rubbing your eye with your free hand.
wujin broke the silence with an awkward suggestion, "i think we should call it a night." he patted suhyeok's back as he stood up, suhyeok agreed by standing up and ttrailing behind mijin and you.
meanwhile, daesu's voice slurred as he slapped kyungho's back, "tomorrow, we drink again!" kyungho returned the gesture, playfully slapping daesu's back in response. “ofcourse!” he said with a bright smile.
kyungho was left to solitude, tasked with gathering the scattered trash while everyone else retreated upstairs. meanwhile, mijin struggled to lift you, her efforts hindered by your shifting weight. your outstretched hand grasped for the wall, but it offered little support. "y/n, come on! use your strength to help me out," mijin urged, her voice laced with a hint of amusement. just then, suhyeok swooped in, gently prying your arm from mijin's grasp and draping it over his shoulder. as he bent down to match your height, he simply stated, "i've got him." mijin nodded in agreement, affectionately ruffling your hair as you gazed down at your feet.
her voice dripped with amusement as she giggled and hurried up the stairs, peeking over the railing to catch your struggle. you leaned into suhyeok's embrace, placing a reassuring hand on his chest. "this is impossible," you whined, to which suhyeok offered a gentle nod and a soft whisper of encouragement: "you've got it." meanwhile, wujin's voice echoed up the stairs, "come on, y/n!" as he helped daesu, equally drunk, navigate the steps.
daesu's sudden declaration, "i think i need to go to the bathroom," is quickly followed by a gagging sound, prompting suhyeok to swiftly scoop you up in his arms. he rushes into the room, gently placing you on your bed. you can't help but laugh at the frantic pace. suhyeok inquires about your well-being, and you nod reassuringly.
just then, wujin's voice echoes from outside, calling for suhyeok's assistance with daesu, who's struggling to make it up the stairs. mijin's cackles can be heard, while suhyeok rushes out of the room to lend a hand, leaving you alone.
as you waited for the others to arrive, you found yourself fidgeting with your clothes, the silence a gentle hum in the background. the sound of footsteps and muffled voices drifted in from the hallway, signaling the boys' passage as they escorted daesu to the restroom. it was then that cheongsan slipped into the room, his voice barely above a whisper as he asked, "is he sick?" your response was a fit of giggles, accompanied by a nod, leaving cheongsan to wonder what had transpired.
cheongsan slid the wooden door shut with a soft creak, seeking refuge in his bed. he collapsed onto the mattress with a contented groan, his voice dripping with relaxation as he murmured, "this is going to be the best sleep ever." you trued to copy him, but your comfort was short-lived. a sudden lump formed in your throat, prompting you to sit up with alarm. "no, no, i need to stay upright," you whined, clutching at your chest with growing unease, fearful of succumbing to the same queasiness that had afflicted daesu.
"i need some water," you whispered to cheongsan, who sprang into action, sitting up with a jolt. his voice was laced with concern as he asked, "are you sure?" you nodded, becoming increasingly aware of the inky darkness that enveloped the upstairs. the alcohol was already wreaking havoc on your vision, and the shadows seemed to be closing in, making your head spin.
the door slid open once more, and suhyeok's voice cut through the darkness, "daesu is throwing up..." but before he could finish, cheongsan swiftly intervened, his voice tinged with urgency. "suhyeok, grab a cold water – y/n needs one, now." suhyeok vanished into the night, his footsteps a distant echo as he hastened downstairs. cheongsan shifted to your bedside, his gentle hands rubbing soothing circles on your back. "you're okay, y/n. hang in there," he whispered reassuringly, as you pressed your fingers to your forehead, fighting to stay awake.
meanwhile, suhyeok's feet pounded the stairs, skipping two at a time, as he hastened to fetch water. his mission was to help his friends rehydrate and sober up, despite his own slightly tipsy state. the cold air seemed to have a sobering effect on him, and he focused intently on his task. he yanked open the refrigerator door and scanned the shelves, his eyes locking onto the largest water bottle. as he pulled it out, he noticed it was the last one. his gaze wandered behind the refrigerator, where the open freezer door caught his attention. beyond it, a deeper freezer door came into view, adorned with a thick chain and lock. suhyeok's curiosity was piqued, and he found himself wondering what could be hidden behind such a secure door. his reverie was shattered by a sudden voice. "hey!" kyungho's greeting made suhyeok jump, his heart racing as he stood up straight, water bottle still in hand.
kyungho descended the aisle with a jog, small packets clutched in his hand, his expression a mask of contrition. "hey, man, i wanted to apologize. what i did earlier was stupid and immature," he admitted, his head shaking in guilt. suhyeok's gaze darted to the staircase before returning to kyungho, his response a simple, acknowledging nod. kyungho extended the packets, a peace offering of hangover remedies. "take these, give some to whoever needs them upstairs. i'll be behind the register if you need anything, anything at all," he said, his tone sincere. suhyeok's eyes flicked to kyungho's frame, a fleeting thought crossing his mind – he could take him down if needed, though it might require some effort. instead, he chose to accept the offering, nodding curtly as he took the packets and closed the fridge door. with a sense of urgency, he hastened back upstairs.
cheongsan moved with gentle purpose, lighting the lanterns scattered throughout the room. the soft glow of the flames cast a warm, golden light, transforming the space into a haven of comfort and tranquility.
you gazed around, taking in the cozy atmosphere, and turned to cheongsan with a smile. "this feels amazing, doesn't it?" you asked, and cheongsan's face lit up with a nod of agreement. "yeah..." he murmured, his voice barely audible, "i wish gyeongsu could've seen this." though spoken under his breath, the words carried to your ears, and you shared a laugh with cheongsan at the thought of gyeongsu's antics. "he would've eaten so much," you chuckled, the image conjuring up a warm, fuzzy feeling.
the door slid open once more, and you anticipated suhyeok's return, but instead, wujin stumbled into the room, his face a picture of distress. "guys, i couldn't take it anymore – he got it everywhere," wujin exclaimed, collapsing onto the floor with a dramatic flourish. cheongsan's eyes widened in shock, "no way, really?" he asked, incredulous. your concern, however, was focused on daesu's well-being, "is he okay?" you inquired, worry etched in your voice. just then, mijin's unmistakable cackles echoed from the hallway, and you couldn't help but ask, "is that mijin?" but your question was cut short as you doubled over, falling forward onto your bed, consumed by a fit of laughter.
wujin's laughter harmonized with yours, "yeah, the girls are trying to get her to sleep," he chuckled, clearly amused by the situation. cheongsan slipped out of the room, likely to lend a hand with daesu. just then, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed through the doorway, and suhyeok appeared, his voice low and cautious as he whispered, "wujin, watch out." but wujin remained immobile, too caught up in the hilarity of the moment.
suhyeok expertly navigated around him, his eyes fixed on you as he approached. he tosses something in his hand in the forner of the room with annoyance, it sounded like sugar packets but you ignore it. he twisted open the water bottle en route, the soft gurgle of the liquid a soothing serenade. as he sat down in front of you, his expression turned concerned, "you okay? do you feel sick?" he asked, his voice gentle. you smiled and shook your head, feeling an unexpected wave of relief wash over you now that suhyeok was back by your side.
as you gazed at suhyeok, you couldn't help but be captivated by the soft, golden light of the lanterns dancing across his features. the gentle glow seemed to accentuate his inviting expression, making it impossible for you to look away.
your eyes lingered on his hair, which lay flat against his forehead, appearing impossibly soft. suhyeok's sudden command, "open," startled you, and for a moment, you hesitated. your gaze dropped to the water bottle, now poised near your lips, with suhyeok's hand positioned beneath to catch any stray droplets. the tender gesture only added to the sense of intimacy, leaving you feeling momentarily breathless.
you parted your lips, and suhyeok carefully tilted the water bottle, allowing you to sip from it. as you swallowed, his fingertips from his other hand brushed against your throat, sending a subtle feeling in the bottom of your stomach. your gaze drifted upward, meeting suhyeok's eyes, and you felt a flush rise to your ears under his gentle scrutiny. your eyelids grew heavy, blinking lazily as you succumbed to the soothing sensation. the scene was almost surreal, with you resembling a deer calmed by a wolf's gentle touch. wujin, still sprawled on the floor, watched the exchange with an astute expression, as if he had just stumbled upon a profound realization. his eyes sparkled with a knowing glint, while you continued to drink.
suhyeok set the water bottle down, allowing you to catch your breath. you murmured a shy thank you, but suhyeok didn't respond, instead focusing on closing the bottle and placing it beside the bed. the moment was interrupted by cheongsan's shout, "wujin!" which jolted wujin out of his trance-like state.
he cursed under his breath, "shit..." before reluctantly pushing himself up from the floor and shuffling out into the hallway. however, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, tiptoed back to the room, and carefully slid the door closed before continuing on his way. cheongsan's voice echoed down the hallway once more, "wujin!" this time, wujin responded with a shout of his own, his tone tinged with annoyance, "i'm coming already!"
the room fell silent once more, with only the two of you remaining. suhyeok hadn't uttered a word, instead focusing on removing his socks as he padded over to his bed. you watched him intently, your gaze fixed on his every move, much like a devoted puppy awaiting instructions. suhyeok carefully placed his socks beside his bed before walking back over to you, his movements fluid and deliberate. he knelt down beside you, his hands gently cradling your foot as he began to remove your socks. the tender touch sent a warm feeling in you chest, and you couldn't help but bask in the soothing sensation.
suhyeok carefully set your socks aside, mirroring the precise manner in which he had handled his own. the silence was finally broken by your soft, grateful whisper, "thank you."
suhyeok stood up fully, his eyes never leaving yours, and said, "you should rest now. you've had a long night." his voice was low and soothing, a gentle command that brooked no argument. he reached out and carefully pulled the blankets up to your chest, his fingers brushing against yours in the process. you didn't pull away, instead letting the warmth of his hand linger on yours. "i'll be right outside if you need anything," he continued, his voice a soft promise. "just call out, okay?"
suhyeok turned to leave, his footsteps quiet on the floor, but you called out to him again, your voice barely above a whisper. "suhyeok?" he stopped in his tracks, his back still turned to you, and waited for you to continue. "i need you," you said, the words feeling inadequate for the comfort and care he had shown you. suhyeok turned around, a familiar look on his face, and nodded slightly. "what is it?," he replied, his voice low and gentle.
you hesitated, unsure of what to say next, but before you could gather your thoughts, a loud voice echoed down the hallway, "suhyeok!" wujin's boisterous call made both of you turn towards the door, suhyeok's eyes flicking towards the hallway before returning to yours. "can it wait?" he asked, his voice low and questioning. you nodded slowly, feeling a pang of disappointment, but also relief. suhyeok gave a small nod before turning to leave, sliding the door closed behind him. the moment the door clicked shut, you were alone with your thoughts, and they came flooding in. your face grew hot, a deep red spreading across your cheeks as your mind whirled with thoughts of suhyeok. you couldn't shake the feelings that had been building, and you felt overwhelmed. in a desperate attempt to drown out your thoughts, you closed your eyes and pulled the blanket over your head, hiding from the emotions that threatened to consume you.

The Arms of Survival
Tumblr media
Warnings - General zombie stuff, (minimal) gore
It was the dead of night, and the air was thick with tension and the smell of decay. The remnants of the high school were eerily silent, save for the occasional groan of a zombie shuffling in the distance. You sat with your knees pulled up to your chest, back pressed against a cold concrete wall. The flickering light of a nearly dead flashlight barely illuminated the room, but it was enough to catch the blood-stained walls and the exhaustion etched onto everyone’s faces.
And then there was Su-hyeok.
He sat just a few feet away, his broad shoulders hunched as he cleaned off his makeshift weapon. His jaw was set, and his eyes darted to the boarded-up windows every few seconds, always alert. You’d noticed that about him—even in the midst of chaos, he never truly relaxed. He was always watching, always ready to protect the group. And, more often than not, he’d positioned himself close to you. It wasn’t something he announced or even seemed to realize, but you’d noticed. You always noticed him.
You’d met Su-hyeok on the first day of the outbreak. He’d saved you from a narrow escape in one of the science labs, grabbing your hand and pulling you away just as a zombie lunged. Since then, you’d stuck together like glue. Maybe it was because you trusted him, or maybe it was because, deep down, you felt safer with him than with anyone else.
“You should try to get some rest,” Su-hyeok said, his voice breaking through the silence. His eyes met yours, and for a moment, the tension in the air seemed to soften. “I’ll keep watch.”
You shook your head, your voice barely above a whisper. “I can’t. Every time I close my eyes, I see them.”
He didn’t ask who you meant. He didn’t need to. Everyone had lost someone. Family, friends, classmates. The weight of it hung over all of you like a storm cloud that refused to break.
“Come here,” he said, patting the space beside him. His voice was gentle, but there was an edge of firmness that made it clear he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
You hesitated for a moment before scooting closer. The warmth of his presence was immediate, a stark contrast to the cold, desolate room. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders, pulling you against his side. It was the first time he’d touched you like this, and despite the circumstances, your heart fluttered.
“You’re not alone,” he said quietly, his voice barely more than a murmur. “I’m here. As long as I’m breathing, I’ll keep you safe.”
The words hit you harder than you expected. In a world that had become so cruel and unpredictable, his promise felt like a lifeline. You didn’t realize you were crying until he tilted your chin up to look at you. His thumb brushed away a tear, and the tenderness in his gaze made your chest ache.
“I mean it,” he said, his brow furrowing slightly. “You don’t have to be strong all the time. Let me carry some of it for you.”
For the first time in days, you allowed yourself to lean into someone else. You rested your head against his shoulder, your eyes closing as the exhaustion finally caught up to you. His hand stayed on your shoulder, grounding you, and for the first time in what felt like forever, you felt safe enough to sleep.
The next day, the group decided to move. The zombies were getting closer, and the makeshift barricades wouldn’t hold for much longer. Su-hyeok stayed by your side as you navigated the crumbling hallways, his hand brushing yours every so often as if to reassure himself that you were still there.
It wasn’t long before disaster struck.
A group of zombies had broken through the glass windows of the classroom, and they came at you faster than you’d expected. Everyone scattered, shouting warnings and grabbing whatever they could use as weapons. Su-hyeok immediately stepped in front of you, his arm outstretched as if to shield you from the sight.
“Stay behind me!” he shouted, swinging his weapon with practiced precision. Each strike was calculated, efficient, and you couldn’t help but marvel at his ability to stay calm under pressure.
But then one of the zombies lunged from the side, and you didn’t have time to think. You grabbed a metal pipe from the ground and swung with all your might, the force of the impact sending the zombie sprawling. Your heart was racing, adrenaline pumping through your veins, but you barely had a moment to process what had happened before Su-hyeok was in front of you again.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his eyes scanning you for injuries.
You nodded, your grip on the pipe tightening. “I’m fine. Let’s just keep moving.”
He hesitated, clearly wanting to say more, but the growing sounds of the horde left no time for discussion. Together, you pushed forward, reuniting with the rest of the group in a small, abandoned classroom. The door was barricaded quickly, and everyone slumped against the walls, catching their breath.
Su-hyeok crouched in front of you, his hands resting on your knees. “You scared me back there,” he admitted, his voice low enough that only you could hear. “Don’t do that again.”
“Do what? Save your life?” you shot back, a weak attempt at humor to mask the fear still coursing through you.
He didn’t laugh. Instead, he reached up to brush a stray strand of hair from your face, his fingers lingering just a moment too long. “Just stay close to me,” he said. “Please.”
That night, the group decided to take shifts keeping watch. Su-hyeok volunteered for the first shift, and you found yourself sitting beside him once again. The room was quiet, the only sounds the distant groans of the undead and the occasional creak of the building settling.
“You should be resting,” he said, his voice soft but firm.
“So should you,” you countered, earning a small smile from him.
“Fair point,” he said, leaning back against the wall. For a moment, neither of you spoke, the silence stretching out between you. But it wasn’t uncomfortable. If anything, it felt... peaceful. Like a brief moment of normalcy in a world that had been turned upside down.
“Why are you so nice to me?” you asked suddenly, the question slipping out before you could stop it.
He turned to look at you, his expression unreadable. “What do you mean?”
“You’re always looking out for me. Protecting me. I mean, you barely even know me.”
His gaze softened, and he let out a quiet sigh. “Maybe it’s because you remind me that there’s still something worth fighting for,” he said. “Something good. When I’m with you, it feels like... like maybe we can make it out of this.”
Your breath caught in your throat at his words. There was an earnestness in his voice that left no room for doubt. He meant every word.
“Su-hyeok...” you began, but before you could say anything else, he reached out and took your hand in his. His grip was warm, steady, and you found yourself holding on just as tightly.
“We’re going to survive this,” he said, his eyes locked onto yours. “Together.”
In that moment, with his hand in yours and the weight of his promise hanging in the air, you believed him.
The next few days were a blur of chaos and close calls. The group continued to dwindle, and each loss weighed heavily on everyone. But through it all, Su-hyeok never left your side. He was your anchor, your constant in a world that seemed determined to tear you apart.
One night, after narrowly escaping yet another horde, you found yourselves alone in a small storage room. The rest of the group had split up to search for supplies, leaving you and Su-hyeok with a rare moment of (somewhat) privacy.
You sank to the floor, your back against a shelf, and let out a shaky breath. “I don’t know how much more of this I can take,” you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper.
Su-hyeok crouched in front of you, his hands resting on your knees. “Hey,” he said softly, tilting your chin up so you were looking at him. “You’re stronger than you think.”
“I don’t feel strong,” you said, your voice breaking. “I feel scared. All the time.”
“That’s okay,” he said. “Being scared doesn’t mean you’re not strong. It means you care. It means you’re human.”
You closed your eyes, tears slipping down your cheeks. Before you knew it, Su-hyeok had pulled you into his arms, holding you close. His embrace was firm, steady, and you clung to him like a lifeline.
“I’ve got you,” he murmured, his hand gently rubbing your back. “I’ve got you.”
For the first time in what felt like forever, you allowed yourself to break. To cry. To let out all the fear and grief and pain you’d been holding inside. And through it all, Suhyeok held you, his presence grounding you in a way nothing else could.
When your sobs finally subsided, he pulled back just enough to look at you. His hand came up to brush a tear from your cheek, and his gaze was so full of warmth and affection that it took your breath away.
“You’re not alone,” he said softly. “As long as I’m here, you’ll never be alone.”
Before you could stop yourself, you leaned in and pressed your lips to his. The kiss was soft, tentative, but it carried all the emotions you’d been too afraid to put into words. For a moment, the world outside ceased to exist. There was no danger, no fear. Just you and Su-hyeok, and the promise of something worth fighting for.
When you finally pulled back, his forehead rested against yours, a small smile tugging at his lips. “We’re going to get through this,” he said, his voice filled with quiet determination. “Together.”
And for the first time in days, you believed him.
