Choi Se-yeon was born on May 1, 1997, as an only child.

Seyeon comes from a wealthy family. She was born in Seocho-gu, one of the richest districts in Seoul, South Korea. Her father, Choi Song-ho, is a former governor of the Bank of Korea, and her mother, Kim Ji-yeon, is a retired model.

In 1999, Seyeon's family moved to New York City. Her parents often traveled between New York and Seoul, leaving Seyeon behind. She was homeschooled and raised by a babysitter, with little to no interaction with her parents. Despite their absence, her parents were extremely controlling—they imposed harsh restrictions on both Seyeon and her babysitter.

This is an EXO-CBX appreciation post.

A brief break from our usual programming to shoutout EXO-CBX for standing up to unjust treatment. I can’t imagine how terrifying it must have been and must still be in their shoes, publicly going up against such a massive corporation that has heretofore controlled their careers…but I know their members have their backs on this, and hopefully this will set a precedent to help others in the industry.

I became a fan of EXO in the summer of 2014, which was, to put it simply, a very uncertain and strange time to become a fan of the group. Seeing the information about the lawsuit has caused me to think back to my initial impressions of them, and what a journey it has been with them over the years. This is an EXO-CBX appreciation post.

Xiumin was one of the first members I remember noticing during different performances and shows. Sure, he was uniquely adorable (protect the hamster), but I was more surprised by the kind of understated maturity he radiated within his cuteness; he would be playful and mess around with the others, but there was always this quiet calm he had in the midst of EXO chaos. It’s a tough job, being the eldest, needing to balance different roles. He’s always been a bit more in the background—happy to support and add on, rather than take center stage, and you can tell how his members appreciate him.

What a rock Jongdae has been. It’s amazing how consistent he is, how loyal and supportive he has continued to be in tough times. It’s telling when every member of a group agrees that this is the kindest person around, a vocal powerhouse who’s gotten such rough treatment over the years for falling in love and having kids. Through it all, Jongdae has stayed gentle and steady. Every member brings something so necessary to the group, but I think of Jongdae as being, in some respects, the soul of the group.

And then there's Baekhyun—a clever mischief-maker, the apotheosis of beagle-line chaos, our sweet songbird. From the start, I’ve been torn between fond exasperation and bewilderment watching his variety show antics, because it’s impossible not to smile at this funny little brother’s actions. As someone whose personality probably more closely resembles Suho’s, I deeply appreciate friends who don’t let me take myself too seriously or get stuck in ideas of perfectionism, and I see lightening everyone up as part of Baekhyun's charm. No matter how much Baekhyun (and squad) tease their leader, there’s such love that runs underneath in the inside jokes and affectionate roasts. Baekhyun is known as a prankster and joker, but within that he looks after his people. Even after all he’s gone through for having a personal life, he really maintains that joy and warmth.

I know it's important not to put celebrities on a pedestal--everyone is human. This post isn't saying these men are perfect angelic robots, just that from everything I've seen in following this group for nearly ten years, I have faith in them to stick together and overcome whatever faces them; and I know from the outpouring of support that EXO-L will cheer them on the whole way.

as long as you dont solely use korean fcs on non krp forums, you're eager to plot and as long as your character has a solid background for development opportunities, the jcink rpc is pretty chill after a lot of very huge resource site shut down. the issue was a mess too, causing a lot of people to leave both from lack of resources available for public use for free and people just decided to focus more on irl things now that half of the community comprises of mature writers. but the remaining peeps who are still actively contributing are very eager to help anyone willing to join! my advice is to check the member directory for each site to see if there's a diverse range of faces used. but dont use this as an excuse to make only korean characters and try not to use exclusively korean faces. also, reach out to other members for plotting opportunities as well!

@lucidjcink has a very strict rule on racebending and the portrayal of korean culture. it's an idol/supernatural rp set in seoul with tons of species and idol groups to choose from. i haven't had the time to drop by to say hi but i have been lurking on the forums and have plans on making a character soon. this rp is invite only and you're required to fill in a gform and answer a bunch of questions as part of the screening process though so do take your time.

sleepless in seoul (rl crime) is a newly established rp, but the members are pretty active. i also haven't had the time to make a character but the rp has an interesting premise with lots of interesting character requests to grab! and the admins are always happy to welcome newcomers and im sure they're happy to help you get situated on how jcink roleplaying works <3

overall, these are the sites im in/was in/have heard of that are pretty welcoming with asian faces! im pretty sure there's many more western forum rps that are pretty welcoming with poc faces but i dont have any experience with any other sites besides the ones listed above so i cannot say much. i would also like to add that the roleplayers in the jcink rpc are mostly in their mid 20s to late 30s, meaning that everyone are adults with irl responsibilities, so thread replies can be pretty unpredictable. but dont let that bother you or make you sad because the rp is inactive! the jcink rpc in general is pretty lax with their activity and wordcount requirements. hmu at discord @loeykji_ if you need to get situated to forum roleplaying 🫶🏻

Nahyo as not only super talented firebenders, but also being nobles. That's the good shit right there. Fr exactly how I would've characterised them. Maybe even Jihyo being related to the firelord (perhaps even his daughter/heir, but I feel like even maybe as his niece or something). And Nayeon being the carefree/rebellious (doesn't care about her nobility) daughter of like some high ranking military general. They're besties. Obviously

Sana being a waterbender however, now that's a surprise. Off the top of my head I think I would've had her as maybe an airbender? But the more I think about the more waterbender Sana just makes sense, like I can see the vision, and I'm loving it. I can see her as maybe more of a healer than a fighter. The assistant of the head healer, or the next in line to be head healer (not sure how that would work, but I think you get what I mean). I don't think she'd be related to the chief or anything, but she'd still be very much known (and loved) by the whole community.

They're similar enough AND different enough for the dynamic to be healthy and comfortable.

As for Miss Sana! She definitely strikes me as a girl who grew up with brothers/male cousins and so while she IS a healer and (in general) a pacifist, she is a fierce bender when she needs to be. Her focus, though, is definitely healing. She likes holistic medicine and bending for medicinal purposes and so that's what she's studying at the university. It's a far cry, of course, from Jihyo who grew up fighting competitively and treating bending like the ultimate weapon. (But in life, and in AUs, opposites attract.)

I'd definitely say that this is set in the ATLA universe/time period rather than TLOK. It's an alternate timeline, of course, in which the Fire Nation is NOT trying to destroy the entire world but in terms of technological advancement and whatnot, it's ATLA for sure.

There's definitely other idols (some Twice, some non-Twice) and they DO have their own stories and plots but it's been a while since I've given those much thought! I know there are a few members of EXO and EXID specifically (Jongin, Suho and Solji from what I can remember) who are from Sana's tribe and part of the plot once Jihyo arrives at the South Pole!
