Me: Karma just did what any friend would do by helping Okuda when Jerome was hitting on her.

Also me: But then again, Nagisa and Kayano didn’t stop Ren when he was hitting on Kanzaki in chapter 51 even though she was clearly uncomfortable with his advances and really, all they did was comment on her terrible luck with men as neither of them jumped to her defense despite seeing how troubled she was by Ren’s behaviour.

Meanwhile, the only character who’s been shown to get irked and defensive when a guy hits on Kanzaki is Sugino.

or Jerome,

Sugino is quick to pry their hands off her. And in the case of the latter, he still has the wherewithal to make Jerome back off even while they’re all chasing a thief.

What do you think of NagiKae, Sugikan, and Maekano?

I guess you could say I'm pretty neutral on all of them.

For SugiKan, I feel like they’d have to flesh out Sugino’s feelings so that they’re more than just the somewhat shallow attraction he's shown for her in the series - like getting to know her beyond just her being the class idol and being really good at video games. Kanzaki has an interesting dynamic with Sugino since he’s one of the few guys she feels comfortable around without feeling burdened but then Sugino actually likes her too - he's just a genuinely good guy unlike the scum she’s used to seeing.

MaeHina is the old (playboy) jerk with a heart of gold/tsundere pairing. It's like something straight out of a shounen romcom... Like, I dunno. Ranma 1/2? Some love it, some hate it. I think their dynamic plays a little too much to those tropes so I’m not a big fan of it but I don’t mind the pairing.

NagiKae is the weird one for me. I feel like I’ve gotten more and more unfamiliar with them over time. Some writing fumbles for Kayano post-reveal aside, I don’t dislike the pairing like some do. Maybe because I’m just kind of lukewarm on Nagisa, the pairing doesn’t inspire much of a reaction out of me...

After reading Kanzaki’s profile... Poor Sugino...lol. And then seeing his message to her on her message board at the end... 頑張って、 Sugino.

Also Hara’s message to Kanzaki? “I hope you find someone nice!” And all that stuff about how Kanzaki has terrible luck with men? Sugino’s literally the nicest, friendliest guy in Class E...

Jeez, Matsui... Have mercy on Sugino.
