there's just something about reyna being so desperate for a romantic connection after venus tells her that she'll never be loved by a demigod. when she was even willing to date octavian, when she immediately latched on to percy after he arrived at camp, and then, of course, her unrequited feelings for jason.
this is partly why I dislike people blaming jason for "leading her on" because there's absolutely no canon evidence to suggest that reyna was vocal or obvious about her feelings to jason or ever made a move about it. especially considering the venus incident where reyna had begun to avoid him. it would've ironically given jason the opposite impression. it's only mentioned that they shared something special, which could just as easily allude about their close friendship. jason said that he never felt anything romantic towards reyna, they were both pretty restricted when it came to love because they had an image to withhold at camp, they also had this external pressure of being the potential picture perfect couple. he liked sharing roman history knowledge with her as a best friend, they wanted to visit cool historical monuments together, which he appreciated, and he trusted her deeply, but that was all there ever was to it. their connection was dominated by sweet platonicity, in his perspective, atleast.
reyna misinterpreting jason's behaviour as something romantic also makes sense to her character because she wanted to be loved that way. it was reyna's wishful thinking that caused her inevitable heartache and that adds nuance to her character.
reyna had her own faults in the downfall of jason and her's friendship, just like jason did. and that makes them good characters. they both refused to reach out bc of hesitation and it isnt just jason's fault as the fandom claims it to be.
when jason said reyna distanced herself from him and was never quite the same around him after the venus incident?? do people not understand that jason's hesitation to reach out must have stemmed from that?? worried that she'll distance herself again?? or when reyna greeted piper in boo and didn't even take a glance at jason? reyna had too much pain inside of her so she couldn't reach out. and that's okay.
they never ended up clearing the air because of this lingering hesitation, causing reyna to have everlasting guilt after he passed. and that is also okay. they were just kids who cared about eachother but didn't know better.
their relationship is way more complicated and heartbreaking and reducing it to "jason lead her on and broke her heart, he's the real red flag" does injustice to BOTH their characters.
#i hate it when y'all target jason for everything#he felt guilty about reyna. even though he was not obligated to return her feelings. he had empathy and was not as cold as y'all made him#also when ppl mary sue-fy every character like pls 😭 this happens in the fandom w nico percy and hazel too it's so frustrating#yall wil complain about mary sues in literature but still strip the characters off of any existing flaw they have#pjo#pjo fandom#percy jackson#pjo series#pjo hoo#jason grace#pjo hoo toa#hoo fandom#hoo#heroes of olympus#heros of olympus#rrverse#reyna ramirez arellano#reyna avila ramirez arellano

Some Gravity Falls Hogwarts Sorting Ceremony Headcanons Because I'm Feeling Crazy
YEAR 1965
"McGucket, Fiddleford!": The hat briefly contemplated Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, before ultimately landing on "Ravenclaw!" It knew he'd thrive better there, be able to properly nurture his interests in combining machinery and magic.
"Pines, Stanford!": It was a struggle for the hat to decide between Slytherin and Ravenclaw. He had the bottomless curiosity and desire to learn as a Ravenclaw, but the ambition and the willingness to go far as a Slytherin. But, what helped the hat, was the fact that Ford kept asking it questions the entire time. Like "would you consider yourself an individual" and "do you remember your time before sentiance" and so on and so forth. His continuous and unyielding questions were what put him in "Ravenclaw!"
"Pines, Stanley!": The hat also struggled with him; it was deciding between Hufflepuff or Griffyndor. Though it was also considering Slytherin, for Stanley's potential to lie and keep secrets. It asked Stanley about what house he wanted, and Stanley was just like "In Ravenclaw with my brother :D", which was the one house that didn't fit him. He was creative, what with his storytelling, but the hat thought his brand of creativity leaned more towards Slytherin than anything due to Stanley being willing to use it for his gain rather than for the sake of creativity. But Stanley was adamant about it, wanting to stick with his brother, and this more Hufflepuff like action is what made the hat put him in "Hufflepuff!" Stanley, upset about being separated from Ford, declared to the room that the hat was a dirty con before going to the Hufflepuff table, which didn't really make him popular among his house. (This only contributed with Stanley's image of being the "lesser twin" since Hufflepuff's reputation of being the "lesser house", when really Stanley had the potential to be in several houses and held several traits that would be seen as more "valuable" within their society)
YEAR 2001
"Ramirez, Jesus!": The hat took a single glance at Soos' mind, with Soos just being like "oh hey a talking hat; what's up", and was just immediately like "Hufflepuff!"
YEAR 2008
"Corduroy, Wendy!": The hat barely touched her head before announcing "Griffyndor!" She outwardly appeared completely nonchalant and chill about it, but on the inside was very relieved since her entire family was in Griffyndor and didn't know what would happen if she wasn't.
YEAR 2010
"Northwest, Pacifica!": Her whole family has been in Slytherin, a whole legacy. So imagine her annoyance when the hat didn't immediately put her there. The hat does see Slytherin traits, but it also sees a potential to stand up for others when needed, the ability to stand firm in her beliefs in what she thinks is right, making it consider Griffyndor. Pacifica is furious at this consideration, basically threatening to sue the hat. The hat took this as her choosing "Slytherin!"
"Pines, Mabel!": Girl just skips on up there, and the hat is blown away by her imaginative and chaotic mind; the hat has to do a whole reboot before continuing. It considers Ravenclaw for her creativity, honestly a bit intimidated at the potential for it, but her beliefs and what she values more so aligned with, "Hufflepuff!"
"Pines, Mason!": So Dipper walks up there and Mabel just screeches from the Hufflepuff table, "HIS NAME IS DIPPER ACTUALLY" which he is both thankful for and hates. The instant the hat is placed on his head, the hat was contemplating between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, but then Dipper started asking the hat questions, reminding the hat distinctly of his great uncle. However, the tone of the questions were a bit different; while Ford treated the hat like an entity he wanted to study, Dipper was treating this like an interrogation. He didn't so much want to know about the hat as he wanted to know the situation around him gaining sentience. But like Ford, Dipper's questioning nature was what made the hat determine, "Ravenclaw!"
YEAR 2013
"Gleeful, Gideon!": He doesn't really want to be in Slytherin since it clashes with the image he wants to portray, and he lets the hat know that immediately. However, that's a very Slytherin thing, and the hat tells him that. Gideon gets pissed at that, and tries to go for Gryffindor, but the hat says he doesn't fit that. Really, Gideon fit into Slytherin perfectly, which caused the two of them to kind of do a mental back and forth for like ten minutes, which just made everyone think Gideon was just difficult to place, when really Gideon just didn't have the traits the could allow him to choose more than one house. The hat was just like "being in Slytherin doesn't mean you're evil it's just a stereotype" and Gideon being like "Okay but I am and I don't want that reputation". Though Gideon didn't like it, the hat went ahead and placed him in, "Slytherin!"

Woman Who Was Charged With Murder After Abortion Sues Texas Prosecutor - The New York Times
A woman in Texas who was falsely charged with murder over a self-induced abortion in 2022 has filed a lawsuit against the local prosecutor’s office and its leaders, seeking more than $1 million in damages.
Lizelle Gonzalez was arrested in April 2022 in Starr County, near the southeastern border with Mexico, and charged with murder after using the drug misoprostol to self-induce an abortion, 19 weeks into her pregnancy. She spent two nights in jail before the charge was dropped.
Self-induced abortions can refer to those performed outside of professional medical care, including the use of abortion pills. Under Texas law at the time, abortions after six weeks were illegal, but pregnant women are exempt from criminal prosecution. (Health care professionals who provide abortion procedures and medication, and others who help someone get an abortion, can still be liable.)
Ms. Gonzalez, who was known as Lizelle Herrera and 26 at the time of her arrest, filed a complaint on Thursday against Starr County, along with its district attorney, Gocha Ramirez, and assistant district attorney, Alexandria Lynn Barrera. She argues that the arrest and charge resulted in her suffering reputational harm and distress, and seeks to “vindicate her rights but also to hold accountable the government officials who violated them,” according to her lawsuit.
Ms. Gonzalez and her lawyers were not immediately available for comment on Saturday.
Mr. Ramirez and Ms. Barrera also did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the lawsuit. A month ago, the state bar of Texas found that Mr. Ramirez had unlawfully prosecuted Ms. Gonzalez without probable cause and fined him $1,250. His law license will also be held in probated suspension for a year, which means he must comply with specific requirements but can practice law during that time. That period starts April 1.
According to the complaint, Ms. Gonzalez took the abortion medication in January 2022 and went to the hospital for an examination. Doctors found a positive heartbeat for the baby and no contractions, so she was discharged the next day. But later that day, she returned to the hospital with complaints of vaginal bleeding, and doctors performed a C-section to deliver a stillborn child.
The Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of misoprostol and mifepristone, another commonly used abortion pill, through 10 weeks of pregnancy, under the supervision of a health care provider. But the World Health Organization endorses self-induced abortions in pregnancies of up to 12 weeks without medical supervision.
Ms. Gonzalez says in the lawsuit that the hospital employees reported her self-induced abortion to the district attorney’s office, in violation of federal privacy laws, though her lawsuit does not name them or the hospital as defendants.
The lawsuit says that neither the Starr County Sheriff’s Office nor the Rio Grande City Police Department performed an investigation with sufficient facts or circumstances surrounding the murder charge against her, and only relied on reports from the hospital. Ms. Gonzalez also accuses them of misleading the grand jury with false information to secure an indictment against her.
“The fallout from defendants’ illegal and unconstitutional actions has forever changed” Ms. Gonzalez’s life, the complaint says. She “was subjected to the humiliation of a highly publicized indictment and arrest, which has permanently affected her standing in the community.”
When the charge against Ms. Gonzalez was dropped, Mr. Ramirez said that it was “clear” that she “cannot and should not be prosecuted for the allegation against her,” and acknowledged that “the events leading up to this indictment have taken a toll” on Ms. Gonzalez and her family. At the time, the anti-abortion group Texas Right to Life supported Mr. Ramirez’s decision to drop the charges, saying Texas’ law “clearly prohibit criminal charges for pregnant women.”
Ms. Gonzalez’s indictment occurred several months before the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and before Texas’ near-total ban on abortions went into effect. Even with the stricter ban, those who get an abortion cannot be criminally prosecuted.
Melissa Murray, a law professor at New York University, said Ms. Gonzalez’s lawsuit could serve to raise consciousness in Texas and beyond, to “understand that we are moving very quickly into a kind of dystopian, post-Dobbs landscape.”
“I think she could be very successful here,” Ms. Murray said of Ms. Gonzalez. “And if she isn’t, even if it doesn’t make it to trial, she could make him pay to settle this,” referring to Mr. Ramirez.
The lawsuit could act as a deterrent to other officials around the state, Ms. Murray said. But it could also “have the effect of spurring the anti-abortion movement to lobby the Legislature to actually make pregnant people subject to criminal or civil liability.”
Roni Caryn Rabin, Giulia Heyward and Sophie Kasakove contributed reporting.

Nic’s Pacific Bay Play Through Part 3: Inner City
I decided to mix both of the results from the poll, meaning I stockpiled the review, but I’m going case by case! LOOOOONG in depth review! So spoilers!!

Juliet says “Hey, it’s Romeo, you nearly gave me a heart attack.”
Case #11 - Heartless
Man, how sad is this one? Ling Zhang and Piotr Golovanov really did seem to love each other, and yet both were told by figures that they should trust (Yuan Wong, Ling’s boss and mentor and Ivana, Piotr’s sister) that they cannot be together. Too bad Ivana really thought that Ling deserved death more than Piotr deserved happiness.
Aicha Ben Malek just seems like an asshole, which to be fair, most immigration officers are, but she brings it to a new level. She really demonstrates the idea of belonging that was running alongside the love story. Piotr specifically mentions getting married in Ocean Shore as they felt like their marriage wouldn’t belong in Inner City. Strange how the district that was touted as being the melting pot of all these different communities seemingly has problems with accepting one another.
Thank god we get a hint of an overarching plot with the Inner Chaos stuff, really felt like we needed it after the nonexistent plot of Ocean Shore and Bayou Blue. Of course there isn’t much of it in this case as it’s the first one. We’re just meant to get introduced to the themes and the first threads of Inner City’s story, and with Hannah getting a good amount of screen time in the AI, I’m very excited to see it unfold.
Heartless - 8/10

Revenge is a dish best served scalding hot.
Case #12 - Payback
Honestly just a really decent case. I really like how differing the settings are compared to Ocean Shore which was just “Beach/Nightlife” and Bayou Blue with “Swamp”. With this, not only does each case has its only feel, but each scene within the case feels wildly different.
Yuan pretty much immediately getting arrested after returning is kinda hilarious. Normally she would end up playing a role in the last case but here she’s just immediately gone. I know this isn’t the first and definitely not the last time a returning character is arrested/killed before a district finale, but the fact it was the VERY NEXT case kills me (pun somewhat intended).
AI was also very fun, with Inner Chaos being fleshed out more, and Heather is already one of my favorites soooo….
Payback - 7.5/10

In sickness and in health, till death do you part.
Case #13 - Eastern Promises
Weirdly enough, this has been my least favorite case in this district so far, but I still really enjoyed it.
We’re getting more about the Chinese-Russian feud that is important for Inner City, and we finally meet one of the key players in it, Sue Xiong and HELLO MISS and also learning just how deeply this feud runs in these communities. We also see how it infects the other communities of Inner City, with a Serbian wedding being the setting.
The thing that really just kinda put a damper on this case for me is, as much as it pains me to say, Frank. I know about what happens with him later and how much of a sympathetic light that paints him with, but my GOD he can just be annoying. I really do hope his dialogue is fixed later on as the cycle of “I don’t think this is important at all. Oh shit it was important. Andrea can be so annoying.” rinse, repeat, gets tiring real quick.
Also, the fact that the entire case was seemingly all about this wedding and the inner politics about the communities and the lovers, only for the killer to be this masseur, was just a weird bit of misdirection.
As for the AI, more Inner Chaos stuff, hell yeah. More Hannah stuff, hell yeah. Ramirez?? HELL YEAH!! Like I was actually shocked to see him, so that was really great to see him again. It feels great to have something being built to again after what feels like forever.
Eastern Promises - 7/10

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Case #14 - Spineless
Now THIS is a fucking case!
We got a solid storyline unfolding in the case itself, with this fight club being revealed, and this spineless priest, but we also have some major developments in the district wide plot!
We finally meet the head of Inner Chaos, Fredo Mancini, in person, and learn just how “devoted” to the cause he is. We meet the head of the Russian community, Nikolai Kamarov, and see how ruthless he is to promote his image against the Chinese. We finally get mention of how weird it is that body parts have gone missing, with Mark McKenzie being hella suspicious.
Frank feels leagues above character-wise than in Eastern Promises. I’m not exactly sure what changes but it was definitely noticeable. Hannah just continues to be the best character in the game so far, with more and more of her story being fleshed out.
The killer being Shelly Dullard is funny, felt like an interesting choice having her be the killer after returning from Bayou Blue, but at least it’s not a Yuan situation where it was IMMEDIATELY after being introduced.
Glad they made Ramirez actually be a part of the plot now instead of just being a bit of fan service in the last case.
Spineless - 9/10

And ya get a free ride on the murder go round.
Case #15 - Murder-Go-Round
Yeah so apparently the title of this one comes from Insane Clown Posse. So, take that information how you will.
I enjoyed this deeper look at the Russian community in this case, as we did get something close to it in Eastern Promises, but that was much more focused on the wedding/Chinese reaction to it. Here we get a microscopic look at the dynamics of the Kamarov family, and it sure ain’t good.
Judge Dante’s rulings have always felt a bit wonky but this one just slapped my face. I’m so sorry but I don’t think Tammy deserved life without parole. After everything that we’ve seen she deserves less time. Sure, maybe CPS should’ve been called instead, but with a family as powerful as Kamarov, I do doubt that would have done much.
As for the AI, we get the reveal that Nikolai Kamarov and Sue Xiong used to be friends, which does beg the question, what happened? Even Nikolai’s son mentioned how happy he looked in the picture. Inner Chaos is also becoming a bigger threat, with them reaching out to Sergei Yablokov. The community war and Inner Chaos plot lines are weaving together tighter and tighter, until Inner City is being choked out by it.
Murder-Go-Round - 8/10

There’s no such thing as bad publicity.
Case #16 - Killing Time
Down goes Fredo!
A really interesting wrap up for the Inner Chaos plot line. It felt like it ended perhaps a bit too early, as I personally would have enjoyed seeing the idea of Inner Chaos working with some of the gangs and communities that was introduced in Murder-Go-Round be fleshed out. But even without that, we get a high octane climax with Fredo almost blowing up the whole court and Hannah shooting him down.
Aicha felt a lot better in this case than Heartless, and I thought Eddie Moretti was a fun one off. I really enjoyed seeing Heather and Hannah’s relationship whenever it was mentioned before, and this case just really put it in the forefront, so that’s definitely a good thing for me.
Killing Time - 8.5/10

Together as one.
Case #17 - Under The Skin
What an ending!
We got a retuning victim, a plot that ties together the entire district, and a killer with an insane motive. I will say it was a bit disappointing having a new suspect, Rupert Snow, be the district killer, someone that I usually like being a returning suspect, but his character is too good for me to be really mad.
Nikolai’s death has got to be one of the more brutal ones, and the idea that almost happened to Sue is disturbing. Mark was a fun suspect to see, and him technically being the organ stealer makes a lot of sense.
Coming out of Inner City, I do feel satisfied with the direction the story took, and how it decided to wrap up this mostly self contained story.
Under The Skin - 9.5/10
So, a final ranking of the cases of Inner City before I give the district ranking!
Inner City
#7 - Eastern Promises - 7/10
Just a good case with some questionable plot choices.
#6 - Payback - 7.5/10
The most “filler” out of the 7, and yet was still really fun.
#5 - Murder-Go-Round - 8/10
I enjoyed it a lot, but I just thought I would rather replay the others first.
#4 - Heartless - 8/10
A good introduction to the plots and themes that we would see in Inner City.
#3 - Killing Time - 8.5/10
A great ending to the Inner Chaos plot that just could have used a little tweaking.
#2 - Spineless - 9/10
An amazing case that stands on its own, but is also the intersection of the two (or three) Inner City plots.
#1 - Under The Skin - 9.5/10
An above and beyond finale that had almost everything I could ask for. The only detractor is the new guy killer, but he made such a good impact that I can’t deduct too many points.
Overall - 9/10
Inner City is the first great Pacific Bay district. Nothing it does really misses, but there’s enough there to not give it the full 10/10. Still, what a great combination of cases, overarching stories, and character progression.
See you in the next review post, where I talk about what seems to be the general consensus of the best Pacific Bay district, Jazz Town!
#criminal case#criminal case game#nic’s pb play through#holy shit this took forever#i hope this is a good read#i might just take a break#cuz 7 cases in like 3-4 days is a LOT

• Rebecca Romijn as Raven Darkhölme / Mystique
So we're getting the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Thunderbolts fighting Doctor Doom all in the same movie
As a Marvel fan, this is a fucking wet dream, but as a movie fan, I'm cautiously optimistic
How the hell are they gonna juggle THIS many characters and still have a coherent plot?
We'll have to see, this could either be a REALLY damn good movie, or a complete fucking dumpster fire
Only time will tell...
On the other hand, at least we have an EXTREMELY talented cast lol

Ruby "Jewel" Ramirez character sheet CIA Files No.2
Tags: @seconds-on-the-clock @needa-sum-luvn @thebunnednun @writing-with-moss @skauni (ill tag you in the first one too lmao)
Name: Rubia Ruby "Delta 12" "Jewel" Ramirez Riley
Birthdate: Nov. 11. [Unknown]
Current rank: Commander Corporal Sgrt Major.
Appearance:

Height: 5'0
Weight: 100lb 167lb
Past (what we know): Born in [Unknown] , Mexico on November 11th, [Unknown]. Born to: Aqua "Vale" Ramirez and [Unknown] "Hellhound" Vargas. Abused by her mother growing up. A victim of sexual assault. Committed self harm for three years and then tried to overdose and ended up in the hospital and then the mental hospice. Ran away from home at age 15. Joined the army at 15 and a half under a fake name "Scarlet "Delta 12" Lighters." Involved with the crashes: "Tornado," "Hudson," and "Bombard." Came out with her real identity when she turned eighteen and joined the US Air Force.
During her carrier at the USAF, she quickly climbed the ranks-even surpassing her commanding officer, Phillip Graves. At the time, Graves was just Captain. She reached the rank of Commander and everything went downhill from there, she was shot through the knee by her father, "Hellhound," she gave birth to a stillborn of her ex husband's. Her husband left her after the ordeal-for an even younger woman. Her husband's name is currently unknown.
Ruby was then transferred, against her will, to the UKAF (United Kingdom Air Forces) and reranked to Corporal. She then was transferred again to the United Kingdom's Task Force 141, where she currently works under Captain Johnathan "Bravo 0-6" Price.
There are rumors of her old team, however. That they are all still alive after the events of [Redacted]. And are plotting revenge for what [Redacted] [Redacted] [Redacted] did to Ruby.
The rumors were proved not true as Ruby found her old team at an old safe house they used during [Redacted]. They were all transferred to Los Vaqueros after she was presumed too ingured to work back in the year 20[redacted]
In the year 20[unknown], she married Simon "Ghost" Riley and had three more children with him, Daisy Kate Riley, Sapphire "Sapphie" Riley, Jason Tomas Riley.
Old Allies include (listen in last known rank and status in life):
Chief Spencer "Spine" Jackson, Alive
Captain Betty "Daggers" Reed, Alive
Lieutenant Jason "Voice" Xanders, K.I.A
Sergeant Julie "Zebra" Haynes Zebra was a weasel and none if them knew, K.I.A
Sergeant Jackson "Fern" Bush, Alive
Sergeant [Unknown] "Koroleva" [Unknown], M.I.A
Sergeant Sandy "Squirrel" May, M.I.A
Corporal [Unknown] "Sunshine" Jackson, Alive
Notes for Laswell: So-I was wrong about her. So sue me. She's...pretty cool.
-You know who, Kate.

Cars characters’ real names (human AU). Some of these are random, others are more thought out. Have also included female characters' maiden names if they are/were married.
Will add more later, but here are the main characters
Lightning: Steven Owen Montgomery McQueen (yes I changed his name, don’t sue me. Might drop Montgomery from his name later)
Doc: Henry Paul Hudson (only Sheriff’s allowed to call him Henry)
Sally: Selina Maria Carrera (in my AU, she’s half-Hispanic)
Mater: Thomas Otis William Mater
Fillmore: George Lloyd Fillmore
Sarge: Patrick Dooley
Flo: Jennifer Flora Santiago (née Logan)
Ramone: Ramone Santiago
Luigi: Luigi Mario Toppolino
Guido: Guido Leonardo DiCarlo
Lizzie: Elizabeth Ann Ford (née Herndon)
Sheriff: James ‘Jim’ Michael O’Hara (only Doc’s allowed to call him Jim)
Red: Chester Avery
Mack: MacKenzie James Reynolds
Strip: Richard Lee Weathers
Lynda: Lynda Grace Weathers (née Johnson)
Chick: Charles Michael Hicks
Cruz: Cristela Luisa Ramirez
Cal: Calvin Lee Weathers (gets mistakenly called Kyle a lot)
Bobby: Robert Ramsey Swift
As you can tell, a lot of the characters share a name with their voice actor(s). And I might change some of these later, but idk. Hope y’all enjoy my contribution to the Cars community!!
