DavidMueller666 Discovers Original Art Is Full of Subliminal Images - In 2011, DavidMueller666 (full legal name David Brian Mueller)(a.k.a. DavidBMueller) purchased a domain named http://www.davidbmueller.com . At that time, his YouTube user name was DavidBMueller. Several years ago Google had a big shake up and unilaterally changed his user name to David Mueller (the URL still includes DavidBMueller). Since that upset David's branding plans and caused him frustration and grief, he neglected his domain. He did use it as a backup location and displayed some old posts. In 2014, he started to use the home page of his domain to preserve an independent copy, in reverse chronological order, of his posts on YouTube, Google Plus, CD Baby, etc.. This week he was revising some things and he tried to restate the supposed purpose of the site as follows: Founded in November of 2011, http://www.davidbmueller.com was intended to facilitate communication and integration between David Brian Mueller** and the rest of reality. We still have a long way to go to realize the intended purpose of the site but we will keep trying. NOTICE: David Brian Mueller** (also known as David B. Mueller)(a.k.a. DavidBMueller *this upper camel case version is used in David's YouTube URL)(David also publishes as DavidMueller666 *we will not delve into why David sometimes identifies himself like this at this time but he is identified as +DavidMueller666 in his Google Plus URL) Anyway, failed humor attempts aside, David wants to develop the site further and maybe create a store and try to identify some interesting and unique products/services that he could experiment with and then build up some hype and try get a good vibe going for the site. The site already links to his CD Baby account and several self-produced songs for digital download but he wants to expand into new categories. With this in mind, he has started to try to create promotional materials. This post features a promotional image he worked on recently. He created several 3D flying saucer models in Blender 2.76b in recent weeks. He imported an image of one into Krita 2.9.10, a digital painting application. He painted text on the image to advertise his domain. As David was reviewing the image before publishing it (he is such a perfectionist), he decided to try one last tweak in Krita 2.9.10 on the text. He start to apply textured patterns with the bucket tool onto the hand crafted text shapes. The patterns were interesting. However, colors that David had carefully crafted were obscured by the patterns. David examined the text shapes carefully and then, after zooming in close, realized that these shapes were loaded with subliminal forms. Or, at least they would be subliminal to casual observers not trained to recognize them. Where David had applied patterns onto the text shapes, he noticed difficult to perceive yet very elaborate forms. Bizarre faces, cartoon people, animals, and more now appeared in the text shapes. Several weeks ago, David produced a YouTube video clip where he explored this same topic and tried to highlight some examples. This is not new to David. He has been observing subliminal images in graphics for decades. As far as David can tell, this problem is not specific to Krita (which, by the way, is an excellent application) or to any presently identifiable person or organization. For years, David has encountered similar subliminal features in all kinds of graphics and photos. David recalls learning about subliminal communication in the 1980's. Some authors recognized it as a valid topic. Some psychology instructors described1950's attempts to increase soda sales at theaters via subliminal suggestion. Most academics expressed skepticism. More recently "self-help" subliminal products (mostly audio) are advertised and seem popular. Theoretically, subliminal information is perceived by subconscious aspects of the mind and can influence thoughts and behaviors. Subliminal information can be delivered via hypnotic methods to increase effectiveness . For example, subliminal audio tracks can be produced that include thousands of spoken suggestions/affirmations which are masked by pleasant music. Ignorance of subliminal communication is the norm in the general population. Skepticism of subliminal communication is orthodoxy among mainstream social scientists. Ridicule is the likely reward for those who bring up the topic. Fear may be at the root of ignorance and skepticism. It is disturbing to consider the possibility that we are not responsible for our own thoughts and behaviors but instead we are being shaped by imperceptible images and suggestions that are deliberately directed to us without our knowledge or permission. Research investigating alleged subliminal advertising almost always identifies sexual themes as being at the center of the messages. Can the techniques be directed so as to effectively instigate involuntary sexual arousal or behavior? And so forth. What bothers DavidMueller666 about all of this is that these subliminal features are appearing in what he describes as "original art." Further, David's preferred artistic techniques seem to enhance these features and cause them to not be "subliminal" anymore. What if other people notice them? David did not knowingly produce these obscure images of cartoon people, etc., found embedded in his digital paintings. Are these paintings still "original art" if they include content that the artist did not create and cannot account for? Could David file claims for copyright and trademark protection if he enlarges, reproduces and popularizes the forms? Nobody else claims responsibility for them being there. David is presently an agnostic but wouldn't he be reasonable to conclude that the forms are there by the hand of God if he cannot discover any other reasonable explanation? If being kept secret, isn't it morally necessary to reveal how this occurs and to give artists more control over it?
