Isn’t it eerie how that line echoes the way fandom sees Scott?   How many times has fandom described him as whining and stubborn, traits we associate with sullenness?   How many times have they pointed out that Scott’s moral principles and optimism reveal his naivete and lack of sophistication, much like a child?  How many times have his acts, such as when Scott suggested that the Argents may have had a reason for the Hale fire or when Scott was forced to make Derek bite Gerard, been taken as signs of his utter depravity?  (During the same period when Peter was on a murderous rampage -- which they gleefully justify! -- or Derek was trying to execute innocents on the strength of hearth wisdom.)

The process works like this:

If Stiles was a genius (which he wasn’t), if he was an academic rival to Lydia (which he was never shown to be), and if he was, as they like to say, always right (which he definitely was not. To list all the times he had been fundamentally, critically wrong would require far too much space), then it only stands to reason that he should have been in charge, doesn’t it?  It should have been him calling the shots during all the seasons, not dumbo Scott!  In fact, how many times has fandom written that it is Stiles’s burden to protect dumb werewolves, especially his best friend!  (You can barely read fan fiction without tripping over this conceit.)

It doesn’t matter to them that in the first three seasons, Stiles had minimal stake in the outcome.  It was Scott’s life and freedom that were repeatedly on the line: throwing off Peter’s yoke in Season 1, surviving the Hale-Argent War in Season 2, evading Deucalion’s snare in Season 3A, etc.   Hilariously, they resent the idea that people would ever value Scott at all -- their preference would be that Stiles was the target of villainous manipulation.  After all, he’s the real genius/threat/value.

How do I know that this is keyed to race?  The answer is, unfortunately, simplicity itself: Mason Hewitt.   We actually know his GPA  (Corey says: “I didn’t know it could go that high.”), and we see him solve puzzles (finding the Nemeton, why Kira can’t read the book, the Dread Doctors using frequency, the way to predict Ghost Rider assaults).  He is obviously highly intelligent and, similar to Stiles, the human best friend of Liam.   

But there is no gifset, there is no fan fiction, there is no meta which argues that Mason should have called the shots for Liam or that he should have been the leader of the sub-pack that forms in Season 5.  There’s no argument that Liam’s obsession with Hayden rendered him unfit for temporary alpha or that Liam was whining when he complains about his lack of control (instead, it is all blamed on Scott’s lack of training.)   

The same process applies to the Hales.  We see Peter’s and Derek’s failures on the screen. We see Peter get his ass kicked by a bunch of teenagers.  We see Derek’s bad decisions condemn children to death. Yet, somehow, the fact that Peter and Derek have embraced the wolf (which apparently means trying to kill their enemies and getting their asses kicked for it) and the fact that they’re born wolves means they should have the right to command.  You can’t open AO3 without finding a story where the idea that Scott is wrong not to submit to them.

You know who doesn’t have the right to command that same brown boy?  An actual druid-emissary with actual magical powers.  (Deaton’s guidance is sinster!  He’s up to something, they know it!)  Embracing the wolf, a virtue, means being willing to kill, unlike one of the world’s oldest living werewolves, who has embraced pacifism and retreat!   Or if it comes to respect, how about a 900-year-old eight-tailed Celestial Kitsune who urges the protagonist to make a noble sacrifice and kill his best friend for the good of others.  Or is it only 22-year-old born wolves who are allowed to demand the sacrifice of innocents for the greater good?

Yet, you would be pressed to find any fan-created product proposing that Scott should submit to Deaton’s guidance, Satomi’s philosophy, or Noshiko’s pre-eminence.   But you can certainly find stories where a 16-year-old beta werewolf with I.E.D. has the right to throw off the yoke of his ignorant Latino alpha.

You don’t have to take my word for it.   Simply explore the fandom content out there.  Look how many times it’s implied that Scott is foolish or dangerous for not submitting to Stiles or the Hales.  Look at how many stories where the Hales and Stiles ***force*** Scott to submit and then say ‘Scott is so much happier now that he was part of a real pack’ with the man who betrayed him repeatedly and the man who mentally violated him repeatedly.   Find out how often Scott’s expression of independence is taken as willful selfishness, his victories transferred to Stiles, his virtues diminished?  Pay attention to the word choice -- it is always for Scott’s, for everyone’s, own good.    A White Man’s Burden indeed.

Black Diamond Head-canon(s) or info Part 1:

Sorry for the length of this post, i just had a lot of ideas I needed to get out of my mind and onto a page:

His court is special because not only is he a male resenting gem, but unlike homeworld, his empire is made up of both male presenting and female presenting gems.

They are allowed to choose they form and appearance once they pop out of the ground.

Yet most of the gem mostly pick a female form and the ratio is like 1 to 4.

Though he has colonised and controls many many planets throughout the galaxy, he does not have a home planet.

Instead he has a massive mothership, The Stellar Supremacy, from which he controls everything.

His planets are only used for their resources, ability to make more gems, make munitions, gather building materials and collect power resources.

Once theirs nothing left to gather or do, he comes and collects those present and leaves the planet the die slowly. 

His base of operations, The Stellar Supremacy, is around 8 kilometres (5 miles) in size and acts like a moving city, holding his Palace, Gem maker centre, Scientific facilities, port for his fleet(s) and many other places that are needed for gems.

His has a fleet of warships (around 60 of them), which are split into 4 sub fleets (each has 15 ships). 

These fleets are made up of a selection of different classes: 1) Destroyer Class, 2) Sword Class, 3) Fury Class and 4) Alpha Class.

He is one of, it not the best military commanders/strategists in the entire galaxy, being heavy respected by his allies and followers and deeply feared by enemies. 

If you want an example of what I mean, think of a mix between Napoleon and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars.

Because of this, Him and Yellow have a slight rivalry when it comes to who is a better commander and will often bet each other that their armies could take a place or do something faster than the others can.

He is the only diamond that has more than one Pearl. He has him main Pearl (Black Pearl), who looks after his ordeals and acts as a type of assistant to him.

Him and Black Pearl are closer than usual, and he respects her not completely, but more then the other diamonds use to.

He will often through massive parties inside his palace, with only high ranking gems of his court and some medium ranking gems able to get in.

Along with that, he also has another 4 Pearls, they are all dancers and often preform them in front of not only Black Diamond, but also those who are able to get a recommendation or a ticket through bribing a high officer. 

Their type of dancing would be like a mix of belly dancing, ballet and Hula.

He also the only diamond who actually knows about sleeping and though it makes not sense to other around him, he will take massive breaks that are 2 to 4 months long at least.

He takes these rests in a special room made for sleeping that is just full of treasure and artefacts that are found on his colonised planets and only his Pearl is allowed to or has the courage to wake him.

Alpha Build 8 Now Available!

It's here! It's finally here! I hope you all are as excited for this as I am! The story now continues into the southern mountains of Abbadon where mysteries and danger abound. Here are the highlights:

Story Continuation - The story goes on! See what awaits you in Chapter 3!

New Areas - Explore Mt. Belial, the town of Nysa, the Crystal Channel, and a strange abandoned lab on the snowy mountaintop. Each area is packed with items, Pokémon, secrets, and battles!

New Music - Three new toe-tapping tracks have been added to the game's soundtrack. I hope you like them as much as I do!

New Custom Items - Use the Warding Charms to keep away wild Pokémon at the cost of draining money on each step. Use the new Impulse items to give experience to your Pokémon. And don't forget new Artifacts to play around with!

New Quality-of-Life Options - Use Fast Mode to speed up gameplay, helpful for repeat playthroughs. Also, you can now disable weather effects for those who have perfomance issues when weather occurs. Find these options in the Options Menu.

Hard Mode - This newly-added mode cranks up the difficulty by restricting saving to special sigils found throughout the game, and causes a Game Over upon losing a battle. Don't worry, though, as most trainer battles can be surrendered in this mode, letting you instantly end the battle, while still caughing up the loser's fee. Additionally, prize money from battles is increased while in this mode. This mode is still experimental, so try it out and see what you think! Start a new save to try it out.

Item Drops - Wild Pokémon now have a chance to drop the held item they were holding. It's rare, but it should hopefully help you gain a few free items for defeating wild Pokémon.

Loads of Changes - A whole heaping helping of changes, fixes, and tweaks have been added. See the changelog for details!

I've been working super hard on this build, and I really hope you guys have fun with it! I already have lots of plans for Build 9, so hopefully development for that won't be as long this time. As always, please report any bugs you find on the subreddit, come discuss the game on our Discord server, and contribute your knowledge of the game to the Wiki (we really need some active contributors!).

I'd like to take this chance to thank our contributors for their hard work. Lesser Bay composed the amazing new tracks, and CandiHyphenPants created some cool new trainer class designs. I'd also like to thank the people who worked to playtest this build to squash a LOT of bugs. I daresay this will likely be the most bug-free launch we've had! (Fingers crossed super hard)

Additions

Dahlia can now give the player TM27 Return if shown a Pokémon with perfect happiness.

Two new Secret Hollow locations in the Acacia area.

New item balls in Acacia area.

Mt. Belial, Nysa, and various sub-maps are now available!

Wild Pokémon that are carrying items now have a chance to drop the item upon defeat. The Pokémon must still be holding the item upon defeat, and there is a percent chance equal to the Pokémon's level that its item will drop.

New items: Vitality Impulse, Life Impulse, Supremacy Impulse. These give a set number of EXP to a Pokémon. Good for leveling up multiple times, especially at lower-levels.

New option: Fast mode. Enable to play the game in slight fast-forward. Good for repeat playthroughs.

New option: Weather effects. Disable to hide weather on the overworld for those who experience slowdown when weather is displayed.

Added a few examination events to The Secret Spot.

Added high-resolution Gen V back sprites (created by Dreadwing93 on Deviantart)

Added three new music tracks for new areas.

Added a temporary way for players who used the temporary event in Build 7 to return to Nascene City in Chapter 3 to get back on track.

Tweaks

The 10-yard markers in the Nascene High football field have been moved to the sidelines to be more realistic.
