ok so. my guy rob goes from all prim and proper and “✨ oh rather! ✨” at the castle to “RATS” due to a variety of factors not limited to

the trauma of being knocked out, attacked, and enthralled by a vampire (who is also a guy he thought he could trust— sure, he only knew him for like half an hour, but he thought the count was nice and suave and also kinda cute and then oh god oh fuck)

and also hypervigilance and hatred of falling asleep esp in “vulnerable places” since drac first attacked him when he passed out. kinda has a 24/7 fear that Drac could decide to use him as a juicebox again at any given moment

Dracula-induced brainfog— after being enthralled, he kinda finds it harder to think/his processing speed has been slowed down. it’s a side effect of being enthralled, but it’s also def worsened by the fact that this already happens to him when he’s stressed. sometimes he just sits/lays there and does absolutely nothing because of the brain fatigue

Drac being able to talk in his head and also impact his emotions to some degree (my guy feels like. echoes? of drac’s feelings. like when Drac gets angry Rob might randomly feel angry too and have no idea why. mostly manifests as mood swings)

sudden and kinda concerning hunger for blood, since drac bit him back at the castle

and autism. rob’s been a very skilled masker all his life but when the above things quite suddenly came into play, it means he no longer has the stamina to pretend to be neurotypical and frankly doesn’t have the energy to care. bigger fish to fry. think of the scene w Van Helsing where he goes from all “✨ thanks! I’m feeling much better ✨” to “keep your filthy hands to yourself” in less than a minute. buddy boy tried the ‘I’m sophisticated I’m nt and I think about blood only a normal amount’ and fell flat on his face the second stress (new person, van helsing) entered the picture

Rob’s genuine laugh is a little giggle. the “heh heh” thing he does after getting greebled by drac is actually a stress stim he’s had all his life that has just become very prominent because. gestures to everything. same w his weird movements and posture; when he’s going through it, he tends to raptor-arm and hunch over, and there’s no more extreme form of Going Through It than having your brain invaded by an undead abomination. his transatlantic accent he uses at the castle is a deliberate affectation, he has his real accent from Midwest America (like Dwight Frye, he’s a kansas boy) when he’s too AAAA to put the transatlantic voice on

Remus Marlowe, the guy whose name I stole and who was inspired mostly by the book, isn’t impacted whatsoever by eating bugs and critters (it’s just the placebo effect and mental eelness that makes him think so). Robert, on the other hand, was bitten by Drac and partially turned at the castle, so he’s developed a genuine craving for blood that he’s been addressing by eating “not human lives— but small ones.”

at the end of the movie, renfield gets yeeted down a staircase. this always bugged me (pun intended) because. well. he got bitten. he should be vampire’d. so that happens to Robert. he wakes up at the foot of the stairs a couple of hours later, dazed and confused. pro: no more Drac in brain! con: vampire now, and he’s not sure how he feels about that.

I cut out the parts that made it fit the final criteria so this is just me being autistic abt autistic house.

Autism spectrum disorder is a difficult thing to represent in movies, tv shows, and books because it is a spectrum. Every person is going to experience it differently, so it gets into dodgy territory when it's portrayed in media, especially when it's not canon confirmed. Lots of characters have autistic traits, or “coding,” which means they have behaviors or characteristics that might align with how autism is understood, but the creators may not explicitly confirm the character as being on the spectrum. This coding can be intentional or unintentional, but it often reflects a lack of clear representation or a misunderstanding of the diversity of the autism spectrum. I am going to do a deep dive into one of these, widely accepted “autistic coded” characters, and explain how the show could have benefited from a confirmation of this character's autism.

Gregory House is the main character of the 2004 medical drama House MD. He is often implied to be autistic by both fans and the show itself. But this was 2004, and Dr Gregory House is supposed to be a suave, intelligent doctor. He cant have autism spectrum disorder.. Right?

Well, not exactly.

Dr. James Wilson: I'm going to read you something. "Asperger's syndrome is a mild and rare form of autism. It is typically characterized by difficulty establishing friendships and playing with peers, trouble accepting conventional social rules, and they dislike any change in setting or routine"... or broadloom. Don't say that last part but you get my point.

Dr. Lisa Cuddy: House doesn't have Asperger's. The diagnosis is much simpler. He's a jerk.

Dr. James Wilson: Why do you think he took this case? Because he believes these parents? Because he wants to help a young boy? He sees himself in this kid, and he's trying to help himself... He doesn't want this, he needs it.

1a. House has a very hard time with empathy, and while this could be interpreted as him just being a jerk, it could also be a symptom of autism. People with autism often struggle with empathy and understanding others emotions.

For example, in season 3 episode 9, House says, "It's a good thing you failed to become a mom, because you suck at it!" to Cuddy, in a moment of anger. Later in the episode he apologizes but struggles to understand why she is still upset at the comment after.

1b. House is extremely blunt. Again this can be interrupted as him being rude but it's also a common symptom of autism. House can be seen being extremely blunt with patients often leaving them and his coworkers shocked with his bedside manner.

1c. House has difficulty with vulnerability, often insulting his friends and people close to him when he's frustrated, or straight up ignoring them when he's focused on work, making it difficult to maintain relationships. These failings often lead to conflicts, and eventual breakdowns. However, when these breakdowns happen, usually House makes an (albeit stilted) effort to get these relationships back in order.

Dr Wilson: “I only have two things that worked for me: this job and this stupid, screwed-up friendship and neither mattered enough for you to give one lousy speech”

Dr. House: “They matter.”

2a. In season 3 House gets shot in his office and when he comes back to work the carpet in his office has obviously been replaced, as it was covering blood and stained. He has a meltdown and refuses to work in his office until the old carpet is restored. He says, “It's my office. It's where I work, where I think, where I save lives, I want it back the way it was.” He works in various places throughout the hospital but refuses to work in his office. Eventually the carpet is restored and he goes back to his office.

Autistic people often struggle with change, and need routine to function. Dr House struggles with this desire for sameness.

2b. Another example of Dr House’s desire for sameness is in season 8. House goes to prison and when he returns to the hospital he discovers that his office has been repurposed for another department. As in season 3, he refuses to work in his office until he gets his office back to the way it was. He annoys the other workers in his former office until they agree to leave and give his office back.

2c.  Many times throughout the show employees leave the hospital or work in another department. Whenever this happens House struggles to adjust to the change. For example, in season 4 all of House's fellows quit and he has to hire new ones. First he refuses to hire new doctors and tries to get the original team to come back. He then hired 40 fellows at once to avoid having to make a choice right away. House has to take time to adjust to the change before he can create a new routine.

3a. House has chronic pain due to an injury, he takes vicodin to help with this pain. However it's revealed in many instances throughout the show that the pain is connected to emotional issues. His pain increases when he can't deal with his emotions.

He takes vicodin to numb emotional pain. A lot of autistic individuals struggle to identify and deal with their emotions. Addiction is also common within autistic individuals because they struggle with pain and physical regulation.

3b. House often struggles with overly emotional situations, often leading to a meltdown. For example season 7 episode 15 “Bombshells,” in this episode House’s girlfriend is in the hospital and he avoids going to support her at all costs because he knows it will be a high emotion situation that he wants to avoid. Eventually he takes vicodin and goes to see her which ends up causing their breakup. After the break up House basically loses his mind, taking vicodin, drinking, and hiring prostitutes. In the end he ends up jumping off the balcony of a hotel into the pool.

These episodes really exemplify how much he struggles with sensory issues, specifically regarding his emotions. This is one of the most common symptoms of autism, in fact its part of the diagnostic criteria.

3c. In season 7 episode 23 House drives his car into Cuddy’s living room in a moment of anger. He misses her, he's angry that they broke up, and he's angry that she has moved on from him. He makes this decision in a split second and he clearly can't talk himself down. He can't emotionally regulate himself once it gets past a certain point.

4. I’ll group these three together for ease. One of the most common symptoms of autism and neurodiversity in general is fidgeting and stimming. Stimming is defined as “a self stimulating behavior, usually characterized as repetitive movements, actions, or vocalizations.” These actions aid in self regulation for autistic individuals.

House is often seen pacing, twirling his cane, or his vicodin bottle, and repeatedly throwing a tennis ball against the wall. These actions all reflect stimming behaviors. He focuses more heavily on these actions when he is deep in thought or struggling with an emotional situation, this reflects the self regulatory nature of these actions.

why do people hate the idea of house being autistic like guys... Have we forgotten headcanons, do we hate the joy of expressing yourself through a character... Also there are actual people giving evidence to their suspicion of house having autism why am I seeing autistic house haters on my dash....

who has the weird taste in music: kira likes queen, he’s as generic as it gets. shinobu’s isn’t exactly obscure either, but i feel like she’d enjoy haruomi hosono (i may be biased with my association bc an old kirashino mutual o’ mine told me some of his songs reminded them of me, so U__U)! i’m thinking abt shimendoka in particular

who is more protective: i’ve said this on an old shipping chart meme, but kira definitely worries more abt shinobu! for the first time in her life, she can be carefree and relaxed thanks to him

who sings in the shower: im getting deja vu bc i swear ive talked abt most of this stuff before but i can’t remember to whom or where. whatever, my specialty is repeating myself for fun <3 i hc that kira has vocal stims, singing included, but he stopped when donning the kosaku identity. but stims are stims, you aren’t even aware you’re doing them sometimes. i can imagine a scenario where he’s humming to himself in the shower and shinobu joins in on the song and it freaks him out bc he didn’t even realize he was doing it

who cries during movies: both of them but for different reasons. shinobu cries if a dog dies in a movie. kira tears up over cinematic romantic period dramas (every day i thank araki for making him a canon romantic 🙏)

who spends the most while out shopping: kira isn’t an excessive spender but he Does only buy the highest of quality items. not necessarily flashy rich clothes or anything, but he likes his ties tailored and his kitchen knives sharp. i do personally want to headcanon shinobu as a bit of a shopper tho, she might not buy the most expensive things but they surely add up. miss material girl absolutely NEEDS to add this teacup to her china collection!

who kisses more roughly: this is more of an early-relationship answer (i struggle to imagine their relationship in the later stages, but f0r has been helping me a lot with that!) but i think they’re actually rly gentle with each other? shinobu might be a little more passionate since she’s gotten no action for 10+ years + she’s in her crush phase, but i dont think she’s rough at all. kira is rough in a clumsy way, idc how suave and experienced he tries to act, he has never known the loving touch of a woman.

who is more dominant: shinobu is more dominant in the assertive, confident sense. she knows what she wants and she won’t hesitate to lead kira to that point. that being said, i don’t think she’s very interested in taking a dominant role. she wants to let someone else take the lead and take care of her. kira is naturally dominant but also has to exercise a lot of restraint as to not go overboard (and shinobu wants to see him go overboard 😔)

rating: 10/10, a top 3 ship for sure. very influential to the relationships i lean towards in media now

-As I've headcanoned, Terrence has OCD. Routine wise, he doesn't like it broken, but that's not where it actually shows too often. Being a member of the Toppat clan, it broke all the time and it would. It actually comes more severe in numbers, organization, and severe doubts: -Everything has a place and it must go back in it's place after its been used -If he gives off an assignment and even thinks for a split second he's accidentally given the wrong information, he'll tell whoever the leader is and make sure it's either corrected or not changed because it was right in the first place -He does everything in a system of 2's, 4's, or 8's (examples: two loaded magazines on him at all times, locking the window at night four times before bed (even if it was already locked), twisting a door handle either two, four, eight, or sixteen time from the outside after locking it, snapping his fingers eight times on each hand)

-Now, given this above, I predict he was around when Billy G. was leader, mid-20's at the least and early-30's at most, and at a very stressful point in life in general. Billy G... wasn't the best at picking up on the clans mental needs, this including Terrence in the mix. The snapping was probably what annoyed Billy the most, verbally snapping at Terrnece each time he heard the dreaded clicking

-This was one of the main reasons that Wilford overthrew Billy G., to help the clan get proper help since Billy was incompetent. He saw the best in Terrence, promoting him to be his right hand.

= I would personally LOVE to see more clan member/right hand Terrence Suave.

-Terrence being very family oriented as a person.

-And a momma's boy.

-Before he joined the clan, he was very tight with his family, specifically his mom and sisters. He was the only male since his father wasn't in the picture

Rouxls Kaard Headcanons and Theories

Just a lil compilation of things I’ve either noticed and thought about!! A lil Swatch in here too<3 (Specifically SwatchKaard!) I love this duke of puzzles way too much /lh

- Rouxls is actually very good at his job and helping out around the castle! Why else would the king keep him around and not throw him in the dungeon- He’s just not very good at making puzzles.  He learns very quickly though and that’s been shown in the game! Rouxls is actually incredibly smart in a work sense just kind of silly outside of it.

- The fact he’s not very good at puzzles despite being obsessed with them could be the fact he is based on a rule card! He inherently understands the basics of how the puzzle/game works bc he is apart of the ‘deck’ as it were, but he’s not apart of the actual ‘puzzle’ as rule cards are often cast to the side! So while he knows how they work, he doesn’t know how to put it into practice.

- Doesn’t actually like working for King- but works without much of a fuss for both the power and need to serve under someone to “make the rules” that he abides by (being a rule card!) and to make sure Lancer has someone looking out for him because King sure isn’t doing it.  He does genuinely care for Lancer despite what he says <3

- Rouxls mr his suave ways do NOT work on me (they do) and Swatch mr this guy is an idiot (but i am a morosexual)

- Rouxls and Swatch did not get along at first but once Swatch found out Rouxls had basically been running the castle on his own AND taking care of Lancer because you know the King did jackshit they had to respect that idiot whether they wanted to or not!!!

- Rouxls transmasc enby and Swatch is a he/they (also uses ve/vir) enby and they’re both mlm/n-bln-b

- Rouxls and Swatch know exactly how to push each others buttons and they do still butt heads even after they get into a relationship but you know there's times Rouxls is getting into...whatever antics and rambling his little spiel to Swatch and theyre just ooohh youre an idiot but i want to kiss you so bad oooohhhhh

When you spout things as “Camilo erasure” you look stupid, because that isn’t a thing. There is actual Culture erasure happening, LGBT erasure happening & you’re focused on the “pretty” of the movie. Who shows up less than ten minutes. & if anything, it would be Mirabel erasure because even in her own movie, she’s shoved aside for her annoying cousin. “I WISH HIS ROLE WAS MORE IMPORTANT” I wish that in the movie where the main character was a young Colombian teenage girl, her role was more important than the annoying cousin who shows up for eight minutes. Encanto not only gave you one but seven well complicated written women & you shove them aside for Camilo the annoying cousin & even Bruno the rat uncle. And. He’s not the main character, nor Dolores & neither is Bruno. Not even Isabela. They’re supporting characters but Mirabel is the main character.

I was planning on ignoring you for what I hope are very obvious reasons, but since you've been monitoring my blog for an entire month, fine. Let's chat.

It is neither a crime, nor fetishy, to headcanon characters I personally relate to as neurodivergent. Specifically: there is nothing wrong with seeing Papa III as ADHD. He stims, he fidgets, it's apparent he can't sit still. He jumps around from topic to conversational topic ("there's a hole in my shoe") and has fallen off the stage (or onto somebody else) multiple times bc he's not paying attention to his surroundings. The person who plays him has said he has trouble focusing on things in which he has no interest. Etc.

If I were some run-of-the-mill neuronormie looking to assign labels with which I don't personally identify to fictional characters at random, that would be one thing. But this isn't that. I'm allowed to postulate that Papa III might have ADHD bc I have ADHD. I've talked about this publicly. Twice. Granted, neither occasion provided any detail about my diagnosis, but that doesn't matter. The information was still there.

It's not ableist for someone like myself to see their traits reflected in a character they've spent loads of time creating content for. But you know what is kinda shitty? Implying that ppl who have ADHD cannot be suave or likeable, then hounding a stranger about their headcanons simply bc you can't handle the thought of your faves being mentally disabled. Just food for thought.

Burt and Charles? Both autistic. It presents differently in both of them but what they have in common is headphones as a comfort item.

Charles? Hates when other people mess with his headphones--don’t even TRY taking them from him if you want to not bleed. Also stims often. His stims include singing to himself and grabbing onto his headphones.

Meanwhile, Burt is a much different type of autistic. His voice is almost always monotone, he hates being put under pressure, and he’s very good at his assigned role. Being touched or grabbed by other people is a huge sensory issue for him, so Do Not.

Before becoming right hand man, Reginald used to be in charge of creating blueprints. Sven talks about the plans for the rocket coming from "the old leaders" and he mentions having to "dig through mountains of paperwork to find it", suggesting that it was being used at least somewhat recently. Additionally, a brief shot of Reginald shows a graphics tablet in front of him at his computer, suggesting he's artistic.

Addition to the point about Sven complaining about how hard it was to find the blueprints for the rocket, Reginald is absolutely terrible at staying organized. Does this look like something an organized person would create?

A more recent one, but Reginald probably has ADHD, most likely hyperactive type. Evidence: bad organization, problems are either "Oh that's a problem, someone take care of that please" or "FUCK SHIT SHIT NO OH GOD FUCK" with little to no in-between, rejection sensitive dysphoria, frequently pulls at his mustache, and an overbite which possibly suggests a chewing habit of some kind.

Reginald is able to hold onto Henry with one arm when Ellie has a hard time holding onto him with two. Even if we acknowledge that Ellie had bad form, that still makes Reginald reasonably strong.

Right Hand Man is a trans man, sorry I don’t make the rules. He didn’t want people to use his deadname but also couldn’t come up with a name or a nickname for himself until he ended up becoming the Right Hand Man. Also his cybernetic legs coincidentally double as gender confirmation surgery.

Sir Wilford IV came from a family line of scientists, but he wanted to become a combat commander. His father, Sir Wilford III, was the main scientist behind T.R.N.K., and during T.R.N.K.’s production was when they had their biggest (and final) conflict.

Sir Wilford IV was autistic and had a special interest in the old Toppat Leader Reynaldo the Brute. I have no real reason or evidence behind this one I just like it.
