My Favorite G1'rs that Need to Come Back

I'm loving the new season of g3 so far, so to celebrate I'm making a list of my personal faves from g1 that I'd love to see in g3 again!! Plus at the end I'm gonna include the monsters I don't personally need but think will probably be back somehow :3

Gooliope Jellington! My late addition queen. I love her goopy design, I love that she's so giant compared to the other boos, I love her circus aesthetic!! Ideally her doll would be ginormous again, plus I think they could integrate some novi stars moonbow slime so she's lava lampish. At her giant size, she could probably even still have articulation plus goo! Her character could also be potentially fascinating in g3--is she the daughter of the Blob? Or are her parents mad human scientists, creating experiment 8108?

Wydowna Spider. Her design is PEAK. A doll with six arms would be so cool to see again, especially since the varying body types mean the clothes aren't meant to be swapped like before (so her unique shape shouldn't be much of an issue!). In this gen she might even be a were-spider?

River Styxx! Ever since Draculaura brought up pastel goth aesthetics in Nightmare Nightmore I've been seriously missing River. Yes, she was only in one movie, yes, it was for like thirty seconds, but her design is so creepy cute! Plus her ghost design, semitranslucent with bones peeking through, is one of my absolute favorites. Maybe more focus on her candy love?

Luna Mothews. She was done SO DIRTY in the original (sorry to those who loved her she just was not for me). As a mothman (and Mr. Mothmanson) stan, I need a mothier, West Virginian Luna. Maybe she bonds with Scarah over their shared bad luck prophecy powers. Speaking of...

Scarah Screams. I feel like we're getting a banshee in Mrs. O'Shriek considering her name (and a throwaway line about her yelling), but Scarah was such a sweet and lovely character that I'd just love to see her again. And more Irish this time too! An episode explaining the history of bian sidh lore, complete with explaining the Anglicized spelling, would be super cool!

Sirena von Boo. This is almost purely on design alone. The ghostly mermaid tail, the shadowy finned hands, the chain detailing?? She is so iconic in her design (plus her characterization was p cute). Her color scheme is similar to Spectra, so maybe an update for that. Her character could be a really interesting foray into monster afterlife this gen (aka maybe she's the ghost of a teen mermaid, not a ghost-mermaid hybrid).

Kiyomi Haunterly! Yeah, I loved the ghosts lmao. She was such a cool concept! I loved that her face was barely visible yet still there, her lesbian moments w Drac were all ADORABLE, and it was super cool to see ghost lore from Japan. If they bring back monster exchange I think she'd be so fun to see again through that route.

C.A. Cupid!! Chariclo Arganthone, we've all been missing you since 2013. Please come home to Monster High!! Absolutely adored the concept of a bone elemental, for one, plus her radio persona was so fun! I could see her hosting a matchmaking podcast in g3, plus a missed connections EekTok. Since I hc aro Deuce for g3, I think they'd make really great friends. Plus he could teach her that romantic love/matchmaking isn't for everyone!

Elissabat! With all the focus on the were-ruler this season, plus the focus last season on Dracula's PFFT title and what it meant for Draculaura, I think it could be really interesting to see the traditional Vampire Queen return to Monster High. How do tradition-dependent vampires deal with a power struggle between the original vampire royalty and the premiere, first and foremost top monster? Also getting a GOTH goth character might finally get people to stop griping about how g1 was "way gother!!"

Honey Swamp. Okay yes, same as River, she was in one (1) movie for about forty five seconds, but her crocodilian design was one of my favorites in the entire generation. I always thought she was particularly cool since Lagoona ended up more sea monster than "Creature from the Black Lagoon." Honey was the actual swamp monster!! Plus we've already got New Orleans through Apollo, so why not a little New Goreleans as well? More exploration of human cities and their monster counterparts please!

Robecca Steam. She's so far down the list, but I cannot emphasize how much I need my steampunk queen back. More goggles, more gears, more copper and steam! I loved that her father was human, which frankly could be a really cool idea to explore in g3. What are the ethics of monsters created by humans? If humans are monsters too, was Hexiciah alive during a time of peace?

Rochelle Goyle. Her design was always so classic and chic. We've seen some gargoyles in the series so far, but none of them have been animate (or made their sentience known). Plus she could be great friends with Deuce, and maybe even save the day if his gorgon gaze gets out of control.

Hoodude. I'll be honest: as much as I like the idea of a living Voodou doll, the first generation handled him like garbage. Having Frankie practice rituals from a closed religion to make herself a boyfriend was uh...yeah. G3 could take Hoodude in two interesting directions. For one, they could get a consultant who actually practices Voodou to help design the character. He would be a living doll created by a Voodou practitioner, introducing kids to the idea that Voodou is a real religion currently practiced today that isn't evil, isn't witchcraft, and is deeply culturally important. If they're not willing to put the work in (which, honestly, they've been so much better about in g3), he could also make a really fun renamed living doll/plush.

Vandala Doubloons. Another ghost who showed up for thirty seconds in Haunted? In my list? It's more likely than you'd think lmao. This is solely bc I love pirates and I love ghosts, and think a pirate ghost character is always fun. I prefer her design to Dayna Jones's, but I like the daughter of Davey Jones aspect.

Operetta. Last but absolutely not least, I need the phantom of the oprey back again! Her rockabilly pin up style was so cute and her origin story is so batty (her dad is a human, guys). Honestly she'd work so well in g3 with her "monstrous" human father!

And there they all are! My personal faves from g1, brought back into g3. Some of them are just there for the peak design, some for how their lore could work really really well w g3, all bc I love them :3

Character Design #3: Clawdeen Wolf

Full Name: Clawdeen Wolf Aliases: Claudine Woods/Deen Age: 15 Pronouns: She/Her Monster Type: Werewolf Descendant Of: Apollo and Selena Wolf Freaky Flaw: “My fur is soft and chic, but the upkeep is a thorn in my side. Can’t let it frizz up, or I’d look like a puffball, y'know?” Grade Level: 1st year/Freshman Favorite Subject: Eek-onomics Character Description: Clawdeen has been a student at Monster High’s school district since she was a pup. Once she found a knack for fashion design, she unintentionally became rivals with her classmate, Cleo De Nile. Despite their battles on the runway, Clawdeen never goes a day without showing her style! Entering her first year of high school, Clawdeen hopes to find some more classmates willing to inspire her talents.Additional Info: - Because Clawdeen is a werewolf, a subspecies of were-animals, she is capable of taking on a human form.     - While she is able to control the transformation, it doesn’t last long due to her age. If the form is sustained, the longest she can stay transformed is a few hours.     - She and her siblings would often sneak across the “River Styxx” to see what humans are up to. They’ve nearly gotten caught on their excursions, but after a very close call, her pack makes a group oath to stay on the monster side of Salem.     - Claudine Woods is her human alias. - In her base werewolf form, her senses are heightened, including vision, smell and hearing. Her agility and endurance also gain vast amounts of strength.     - Under the light of a full moon, these strengths are at full capacity, and she is unable to turn into her human form. - Prior to the start of the AU’s timeline, Clawdeen almost exclusively sticks to her pack. Other monsters ridicule were-animals for their ability to pass as human, so she tends to ignore or avoid them entirely. There are exceptions made for her friends and her friends’ friends, of course. - Clawdeen isn’t afraid to be honest with someone that trusts her opinion, but she tries not to lay her critiques on too harshly. In turn, she’s not afraid to call someone out for treating other students badly. She understands firsthand what it’s like to trust someone that didn’t deserve it, so she’s great at keeping a secret. - While still rivals with Cleo in the fashion design department, the two began to hang out together once Cleo and Deuce, Clawd’s beastie, started dating. Instead of the bickering and flinging of insults they had before, the two now have a more friendly competition attitude with one another. - When it’s the off-seasons for the fearleading squad, she spends her time on the track and field team. While she doesn’t play for the school’s teams, she loves to play baseball, casketball and soccer with her siblings and friends.

It wasn’t okay. This was the opposite of okay. He couldn’t remember how he’d gotten here; the last thing he remembered was being held down, something on his tongue, water poured and a hand clamped over his his mouth until he swallowed. Then... a constant struggle. 

Until her voice started to pull him back from the city he’d never wanted to be in. He’d had moments of clarity, moments where he fought the chip’s influence, where he was able to come back to reality even if he couldn’t fully control himself. Things seemed to make so much sense with ALIE by his side. She spoke so eloquently, everything she said was logical, rational, it made so much sense. 

But did it? Attacking Ryan, that made sense? Because she was challenging ALIE? No, not because of that, the woman said; because she was challenging Styxx. People didn’t challenge Styxx, not for long anyway. So it had made sense in the moment, sense enough to grab her, throw her to the ground. 

But the gun changed things. His eyes had darted to the gun, ALIE encouraging him to take it, use it, finish it... but he couldn’t. His eyes fell away from the gun without moving so much as an inch toward it. 

She didn’t hesitate though, and in a moment it was in her hands, pointed at him. He didn’t fear being shot, didn’t fear pain or blood, he’d been in pain and bleeding for most of his life. His strides didn’t falter as he stalked toward him, threat in every hard line of his body. 

Then the muzzle was against her forehead, and something in him snapped. ALIE knew the moment the connection broke, the very second she lost control over him, and with panic in his eyes he dove for the gun, wrapped long fingers around it, keeping his finger on the trigger, keeping her finger from being able to pull it if that was her intention. ALIE was agitated, not yelling, but forceful. Insistent. Demanding. She was losing him and struggling to regain control over his mind. 

But his mind had snapped the second the gun faced her head. He’d seen people shot, had shot people. He knew what they looked like. Knew what could happen if she pulled that trigger. He couldn’t let that happen. Not now. Not ever. ALIE or no ALIE, even as she calmly raged behind him, telling him to pull the trigger, trying to pull him back to her. 

“it’s okay.. it’s okay, styxx.”

Her soft voice, gentle and forgiving, was the final straw and he pulled the gun away from her, ignoring ALIE as surely as he’d learned to ignore the insults growing up, and threw it across the floor. It would be smarter to keep it near, ALIE would be sending reinforcements, but more important was for her to know he wasn’t going to suddenly turn and use it on her. He needed it far away for her to trust that he was back. The second the cool metal left his skin he pulled her to him, wrapped his arms around her and held her to him, knowing he was probably in for a beating for almost killing her and willing to take whatever she wanted to mete out to him so long as he got to hold her for a second. 

“I’m sorry,” he whispered, feeling a foreign burning behind his closed eyelids as he clutched her to him, his face buried in her hair. “I’m so sorry, I can’t believe I- I’d never, I’m so sorry.” 

If either of them should have had a gun to their head, it should have been him. He was worse than he’d ever thought. Worse than anyone had warned him he was going to be.

1)What do you do when you’re not working?

Hmm read, I do a lot of reading, or doing some cleaning around the house.

2)Did you choose your profession or did it choose you?

I did, out of needing a job. 

3)What would you do if you won the lottery?

I’d pay off my bills, pay off my Parents bills, give them half as they need it more than me, although they’d probably try and give it back to me? Get some things fixed around the house, actually go and get my license. Oh probably still work and save the rest of the money, maybe go on holidays with my parent’s over seas.

4)What is your favorite way to relax?

Listening to my ipod, and reading a new book from my favourite authors! 

5)What is your favorite book to read?

You’re evil, this is an evil question!, God damn It’s a three way tie between Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Lynsay Sand. But book?? hmm Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Dark Legacy by Christine Feehan. I HAVE TOO MANY!!

6)What makes you laugh the most?

Well for me, I laugh a lot but I grew up watching reruns of Loony Tunes on loop, and Abott and Costello movies. So I have a pretty good sens of humor. My biff is that most if not all the comedy movies out now I watch and I sit there thinking omg this is stupid, sucky and not even funny. But when you put me, my brother and my dad in a room. I’m not kidding, quoting Simpsons, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, other movies, and a cd collection of Billy Birmingham stuff which is down right hilarious! If you don’t know cricket it’s not for you, it’s rude crude. He takes a micky out of Australian Cricket commentators.  So family, and really good jokes.

7)What is your favorite holiday?

Ohh Going on a Cruise of New Zealand FKN LOVED IT!!

8)What was the last book you read/movie you saw?

Georgette Heyer-The Cotillion: Do not ask me about this book, omg the woman in this shitted me, pissed me off, it was just I wanted to wack the damn book. Thor Ragnarok, Although I watched Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets last night!

9)What are your favorite TV shows?

Charmed, Sabrina the teenage witch, CSI, Outlander, Victoria, bewitched, Rome, Friends, buffy from the seasons I watched haven’t seen it all! I can’t think of others right now.

10)What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again?

I’m scared of heights, I went up the sky tower and we were on the look out level 60? and it went up to 64 I think? Anyway fk me people I was palm sweaty, trembling mess, and I stood for like 4 secs and looked down a glass panel to the street below in Auckland NZ. And got as close as I could to the glass looking out around the city. Then sat down on a seat far away from said windows! Never again people!

11)When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?

Funny thing, never been in a relationship, but the number of times friends have come to me about that, More recently my mum comes to me for Computer help. Even though she has done 2 computer classes. Sighs omg the times I try and keep calm, but it can be annoying because it’s the same problem all the time. I try and get her to figure it out herself, but so far not working.

The Naughty List - Holiday Writing Tag

This tag was created by the talented @jennamoreci. Huge thanks to her for creating such a fun tag. :) For the tag, I’ll be using characters from my recently completed (not revised) book Mage Chronicles. The book centers around a young mage named Ryder Sullivan who finds himself in the middle of a war after being kicked out of his home by his step-mother. An apprenticeship with a world renowned mage turns into love and betrayal lurks around every corner. 

The Rules:

1) Provide a brief description of your novel before beginning. NO MORE THAN 5 SENTENCES.

2) If your cast is fewer than 15 characters, you can’t use the same name more than twice. If your cast is larger than 15 characters, you can’t use the same name more than once.

THE QUESTIONS:

#1 Which character is SO into the holidays, they nearly cause a street-wide power outage from all their Christmas lights?

This would be Styxx Lancaster. Styxx is the love interest and, while he is an intelligent person, he absolutely loves Christmas. Also, he has a bit of a friendly rivalry with Merlin, his mentor, and Christmas lights would be a fun competition. 

#2 Which character attends the office new years party with ONE date…and goes home with someone else?

Caden Lancaster. He’s Styxx’s younger brother and he’s a bit of a playboy. Not that he does it on purpose... he just gets bored.

#3 Which character is more than happy to steal Hanukkah gelt from poor, unsuspecting children? [Note: Hanukkah gelt = chocolate coins]

Helena. She’s Ryder’s step-mother and she has no conscience at all. She’d most likely steal them just to upset the children. Deplorable, really. 

#4 #4 Fill in the blanks: I saw ____[character]____ doing a whole lot more than ____[verb]____-ing Santa Claus. They were full on ____[action]____.

“I saw Tobias doing a lot more than kissing Santa Claus. They were full on making-out.” (Note: Tobias is Ryder’s father and he’s a straight male. This would likely be a teasing jab by one of his children meant entirely in jest.)

#5 One of your characters decides to pregame before church and passes out in the middle of the Christmas service. Which character is it?

Merlin. He would do it mostly out of boredom but also probably on a dare. (Styxx would definitely be the one to dare him.)

#6 Which character hasn’t been seen since winter began because they refuse to deal with the snow?

Thalia Lancaster. She’s Styxx’s younger sister. She travels around the world, always staying one step ahead of the winter season. Snow is her absolute least favorite thing because it is cold and wet.

#7 Which character completely forgot about the holidays and ends up regifting to everyone?

Stryker Ambrosias, Merlin’s twin brother. He doesn’t like the holidays (and hasn’t celebrated them since he was kidnapped centuries ago) and simply forgets. However, he loves his family and does his best to get them gifts... even if they’re ones they’ve given him.

#8 Which character has such crappy luck, they only discover their potato allergy after pigging out on latkes?

Morgana. Poor woman. She has the worst luck.

#9 The Krampus has arrived to punish your very bad characters. Which character is kinda into it?

Blaze Cault. He’s evil as hell but he’d totally enjoy punishment... no matter the form. 

#10 One of your characters should be on the naughty list, but has convinced Santa to clear their name. Which character is it, and what was their means of persuasion?

Ryder. He would simply beg and plead until Santa would have no choice but to give in... even if only to shut him up.
