shen jiu who occasionally has very stylish and intricate hairstyles and yue qingyuan who is the one that does her hairstyle.
they have a bimonthly meetup, at first yqy only wanted to bask in the fact that his xiao jiu is alive. he's happy he even gets some time together. one day, before he knew it his hand reaches to pat shen jiu's head.
shen jiu stared at him with an expression that froze him. they looked quite strange, two men staring at eachother, one has his hand in the air hesitantly.
when shen jiu didn't move away, yue qingyuan threaded his hand through his hair. or he tried to. shen jiu's hair was tangled and yue qingyuan had accidentally pulled his hair.
"what do you think your doing?" shen jiu hissed.
"xiao jiu-"
shen jiu bats his hand away. "don't call me that. what do you think your doing?"
"allow this one to fix your hair."
shen jiu didn't get a chance to disagree before yue qingyuan, stood and began undoing the style she. jiu had.
since then, it became a habit of shen jiu to allow yue qingyuan to do his hair and sometimes qingyuan goes overboard

Is Mechi's hair from a mod? He is very stylish
He is very stylish, isn't he? 🥰
His hair is the "neat long" style from "Roo's HD Royalty Hairstyles". I'm very partial to men with longer hair, so I have amassed a collection of mods to facilitate that. Coincidentally, Kwahu's hair is also modded! He's rocking the "side braid" style from "Hard Times: Hair and Beards".
I have... a lot of hair mods.
Behold, one stylish boy ❤️❤️❤️

War of Hearts ⎮0
storylist
"Ah! F*cking plushie! Come on!"
Yuuka sighed in annoyance as she dropped the toy from the claw machine, again. Several people in the arcade turned to her at her shout and watched her with judging looks. As if it wasn't surprising enough that a young girl was playing here, they were also listening to her reproaches.
When She put her hand into her jacket pocket again, she realized that it was empty. She had spent her third coin and had no chance left to buy a new one. Actually, she was always lucky with these machines, but today there seemed to be a problem.
She looked at the cute plush wolf and pursed her lips. She really wanted to get it and put it on the zipper of her bag.
She clung to the glass of the machine with both hands and cried in a dramatic voice.
Don't worry wolfie, I'll be back to get you!”
She sighed sadly again and looked around, noticing her friends were already outside. She picked up her bag from the floor and turned to leave.
Today was definitely an unlucky day. When she turned around, she bumped into someone. He was a taller boy than her. When she bumped into him, she held on to his jacket to avoid falling, and the boy held her shoulder to prevent her from falling.
Yuuka quickly removed her hands and bowed slightly.
“I'm sorry, I didn't know there was someone behind me.”
The young boy shook his head
“It was my fault too. Sorry."
Yuuka lifted her head and looked at the face of the boy she had bumped into. He had a beautiful black hairstyle and very stylish clothing. Despite his cold tone, he did not look scary. He had a handsome face and a strange aura. She was sure she had never seen him around here before.
Within seconds, while examining the school uniform, her eyes opened wide when she saw the plush toy in the boy's hand.
"You! I've been trying to get it for hours! How?!"
The young boy looked at the plush wolf in his hand and looked back at the young girl. He held out the toy in his hand.
“You can have it if you want..”
Yuuka was confused. She looked at the young boy without reaction for a few seconds and smiled.
"Really ?"
The boy shrugged his shoulders and handed her the plush in his hand. Yuuka took the plushie he offered and smiled even bigger.
"Thank you!"
The young boy smiled for the first time since they met. He was surprised that the young girl in front of him was actually happy because of this stupid toy, but he found it cute.
“I only played to win something, you deserve it more than me.”
Yuuka laughed and waved the toy in her hand. She put her hand back into her jacket pocket and, grinning, held out her palm.
“I can say that I am really happy. I don't have any money left, but maybe I can give this as a gift."
Yuuka opened her palm and handed the small flower she made from paper to the boy. The black-haired boy looked at the young girl's palm in surprise for a few seconds. Yuuka was embarrassed and laughed, thinking what she did was quite stupid.
"I need to go now. One day I will repay you-“
“Sameoka, Shoji Sameoka.” The black-haired boy replied.
Yuuka nodded and smiled again
“Akashi, Yuuka Akashi. It was nice to meet you, Sameoka-kun. I have to go now."
Shoji nodded and watched the young girl walk out the door. He looked at the paper flower in his hand and turned it with his fingers, half grinning.
"She is weird..." he thought, and then, remembering that he had to go too, he left the arcade.
Yuuka ran to her friends who were waiting for her outside and showed them the toy in her hand. It was no wonder that this stupid plush made her happy, his friends would often win things from that machine for her. But the gift she received from a stranger was a sweet memory for her. Maybe not all men were rude and gross.
When Shoji came out, he smiled when he saw the young girl showing the toy with excitement. But his smile disappeared completely when he saw the two young boy next to her.
He definitely didn't expect the young girl to be with the famous duo of Oya High School. Then he looked at the clothes the girl was wearing. She was not wearing a uniform, but the color of her clothes proved that she could also be from Oya.
The young boy watched those leaving silently for a while. He didn't even notice his friend was behind him. He was startled when a hand touched his shoulder and he turned his head.
"Where are you looking at ?"
When Fujin saw the people his friend was watching, he looked at his friend suspiciously. He didn't like it at all, especially considering his past with Todoroki. Shoji was still confused.
“Don't even think about it, do you know who that girl is?”
“I was just wondering who she was, I'm not thinking of anything.” He rebuffed his friend by saying. He started walking towards the junkyard and Fujin followed him.
Shoji Sameoka didn't think he would see that girl again, but he was totally wrong…

Hi Dani! I love Talon's End so much! I love the writing and Hawk and Shea and the Siblings and Isla and Erich and not so much mom, but I still love her and it's amazing.
Question: How would you describe the usual human clothing of the region? I'm trying to draw my MC (helps with getting to know the character) and I'm not sure of what clothing she'd wear.
Thank you and take care! <3
That's a super good question! I got a little carried away, but hopefully this is at least kind of helpful!
TL;DR: Women mostly wear dresses; men mostly wear trousers. Regardless of gender, clothes tend to be light and loose in style without a lot of ornamentation. Currently though, elegant, ornamental hairstyles are in, and many people are growing their hair out to take advantage of that. Hair length isn't particularly culturally dictated or gendered. Clothing colors usually reflect the seasons' colors in nature, but only members of high society (like MC's family) are really expected to have whole ensembles of the "proper" colors. For those curious, robes aren't at all common due to their association with mages.
Details under the cut!
The area where MC and their family live is relatively diverse, so fashion there has been influenced by a variety of different cultures. Maressea is on the warmer side of temperate with a fair amount of precipitation, so during warm weather, clothes tend to be light and not have too many layers--but coats, jackets, and capes to ward off the rain are common. Even when it's warm, sleeves, trousers, and skirts are usually long, but they tend to be more loose and flowing. During the winter, heavier fabrics are a must, but the styles are relatively similar to warm-weather clothes. Colors are an important part of styling, though. The colors of an ensemble should generally match the colors seen in nature during a given season. This is obviously pretty expensive and, therefore, a thing people will be judged by if they're considered a member of Society. But in situations where no one could reasonably afford multiple dyed garments for every season, people still often use seasonal colors for ribbons, handkerchiefs, and other small items. Even among the nobility, garment patterns and shapes are often relatively simple since the mundane aspects of fabric arts were only revived in the last century. Those who had the knowledge to revive things like lace-making and detailed embroidery are highly sought after, and their services quite expensive.
Hats aren't a big thing--unless they're necessitated by weather--since elegant, complex hairstyles are having a moment (the vibe but not necessarily form of fancy wedding updos). Historically, there hasn't been a major tendency toward long or short hair, regardless of gender, but long hair is stylish due to greater options for the aforementioned elegant hairstyles. (Not quite Hawk-length, though!) Hair accessories like ribbons, combs, and gemstones are common based on what a person has available to them.
Women are usually expected to wear dresses, and men are expected to wear trousers. But some avant garde women (including Sabine) have started wearing trousers at informal events (and formal events, if they're feeling extremely spicy). Some men have begun wearing dresses as well, but it hasn't taken off as much just yet. Robes are sometimes worn, but it's very rare since they're associated with being the garb of mages--not the most popular thing these days. So Hawk's gift had the double sin of being a robe AND not being a seasonally appropriate color.

A quick introduction to 1940’s fashion
I've been so obsessed with Band of Brothers recently and I love reading the fanfics. Here’s my contribution, for your OC's.
(soon!) Part 2. Hair, makeup etc
(soon!) 1940's lookbook (photos)
The war had a major impact on 40's fashion. There were shortages and rations, and women were entering the workforce as men went off to war, leading to a more simplistic, utilitarian style.
Rations and regulations:
In the UK, clothing was rationed from June, 1941 to March, 1949, in varying strictness. So although you still payed for clothing with money, you'd need coupons to be allowed to buy them altogether. In the US, the Regulation L-85 (1942), rationed natural fibers and restricted how clothing could be made in order to save fabric. This meant regulating the skirt length, the fullness of pants and jackets, and even banned cuffs.
Silhouette:
The early 40's silhouette had strong, boxy shoulders, but by the mid forties and as the restrictions grew more strict, the silhouette softened to save materials. A nipped-in and high waistline stayed popular for the whole decade, and a hemline below the knee was fashionable until 1947, when Dior came out with the "New Look".
Fashion:
Because restrictions and shortages, the look was simple but stylish. Showy, over the top clothing was considered unfashionable to wear in wartime Britain.
The "military style" bled into every day fashion. It was common for men, who were not on active duty, to still wear bomber jackets, trench coats and aviator glasses. It's visible on women's fashion as well, which is why some of the clothing have a sort of a uniformly look.
Popular outfits for women were square-shouldered jackets with matching A-line skirts, shirtwaist dresses, and thanks to actresses, pants were now also a stable part of women's wardrobes. The pants had wide, straight legs and high waists, and were often paired with a colorful blouse or sweater and a matching jacket.
Hand knitting in Britain was at peak popularity during the war. Women on the home front were encouraged to "knit your bit" and contribute to the war effort by knitting for the troops. The warmth of woollen items also made knitwear popular for civilians.
Working women:
Women were entering the workforce to replace men, who went off to war. This required more practical attire, such as sturdy shoes, head scarves, overalls etc.
Some jobs (such as the WAVES) felt it important to emphasize that women wouldn't become any less feminine by working or wearing a uniform. This is why makeup, nail polish and feminine hairstyles weren't just largely allowed, they were encouraged.
Actress Veronica Lake, famous of her highly imitated "Peek-a-boo" hairstyle, where her hair covers one of her eyes, encouraged women working in factories to tie their hair up into safer styles to avoid injury. In this Safety Styles video, she has her hair up in a "victory roll" style.
The New Look by Dior:
After the long war, and as life was slowly returning back to normal, there was a want of "returning to femininity" among women. At the same time, some women feared that this ultra-femininity would set back all the progress they had made working outside the home during the war.
In 1947, Christian Dior released a new collection called ”The New Look” which featured a full, calf-length skirt. After the simple lines of the utility clothing, such a dress seemed desirable by contrast. The full skirt was also controversial for how much fabric it used, since rationing in the UK wouldn't end for another two years and there were still material shortages in both UK and the US.
Despite the controversies, the New Look was hugely popular and became the predominant silhouette well into the 1950's.
A/N: To keep this short, I had to paste and delete like half of what this originally was onto part 2. Also, lmk if there's interest in men's fashion ver. of this!
Hopefully this was legible. All the ”not my first language blah blah” stuff <3

Why do they make women look so ghoulish and alien for red carpet events? Like intense smokey eyes in like, rectangle shapes on the eyelids, that weird hairstyle that's slicked back with loads of gel and foam even down the neck, weird flesh colored clothes with beads and shit that leave as much as possible bare. Meanwhile the men show up and somebody's combed their hair a little bit, they're wearing a nice suit and tie, they're just allowed to look stylish but normal

A preview from the big upcoming Evangelite Fashions article. These two represent the kingdom's middle class.
Lore under the cut:
MARRIED TOWNSMAN
Location: Newell
The average, middle-class Evangelite man performs skilled jobs that slaves are not permitted to do, such as forestry and hunting. This man is a fur trapper, and his shaggy hairstyle is popular with those in his profession. City-dwellers may scoff at this look, but it’s considered “rugged” by his rural peers. He must work hard, as his mustache indicates that he has a wife to support. If he does not already have children, he likely will soon.
This Married Townsman is not wearing his hunting gear, but a more casual outfit that is typical for men of his demographic. His white shirt is simple and unassuming, but the slight flare in his sleeves adds a fashionable element that shows he can afford quality clothing. His leather vest is both practical and stylish, with its large pockets and sheep’s wool lining. His thick pants and rough boots are those of a typical rural working man–perhaps not the fanciest, but ones that get the job done.
The typical Evangelite Married Townsman tries to balance style and utility in the way he dresses, so that he can fit in among his peers, get his hands dirty when needed, and not embarrass his family in public by looking poor or slovenly.
UNMARRIED TOWNSWOMAN
Location: Aldfog
Evangelite women display their relationship status by the way they style their hair. Covering their hair with a headscarf indicates that they’re married, wearing an updo might mean they’re dating someone or otherwise unavailable, and wearing their hair loose means they’re single and interested in marriage.
This young Unmarried Townswoman is seeking a husband, as indicated by her simple yet well-groomed hairstyle. She does not wear makeup, which is common for young, middle-class townswomen. She wears an emerald green dress with some flair in the sleeves and hem, which gives the impression that she is not poor, but not rich either. Her corset and boots are made of quality leather. Women of her demographic don’t typically adorn themselves with a lot of jewelry, and she is no exception, preferring to let her natural beauty speak for itself. She wears only a white beaded bracelet and an iron “Crowned Man” necklace, indicating that she is a Lindist.
It is rare for Unmarried Townswomen to be employed. They are typically supported by their parents until they marry, and then they are supported by their husband. However, just because they don’t work doesn’t mean they have nothing to do. Quite the contrary, these women are responsible for all the cooking, cleaning, caregiving, shopping, and planning in their households. Their outfits balance practicality and attractiveness so they can accomplish all this work while also beguiling a husband. Since they do not work, all the money they have is what their families have chosen to give them. This allowance is what they use to buy their clothes.

Hart shaped things.
I have this odd mild loathing of heart shaped things. It’s the twee side of it and how cute they can be. That single heart shaped pretty necklace thats supposed to signal love to everyone around feels like there’s horrible under tones to me.
I got to see little girls like me wear those lovely little pendants as the only decoration they were allowed because too much was too much and the church didn’t like over doing it. Little girls with their hearts overflowing with innocent love.
Children at eight years old being made to make a covenant when they still hadn’t grown out of that cute stage. Boys and girls both not knowing what they got into.
They grew to twelve years old and boys got the kind of power in the church where they had more power in their little finger than their grandmothers will ever have or have had.
Lessons with undertones of punishment though teens that men are men and women are women. Each needing to act accordingly and dress accordingly. Those heart shaped pendants for the ones that noticed became like weights around our necks dragging us down. We had to appear feminine enough and cute and unthreatening enough. God didn’t want women acting like men. I didn’t want ether. Into my teen years I was being told I had to wear makeup and stylish clothing. Women needed to look just nice enough to be interesting to men but not to interesting. You have to be feminine enough to attract a good man but also men are the huge monsters in ally ways and car parks. Men were the enemy you had to let into your life and run it because god said so. It wasn’t who I was. Hearts began to signify that forever innocence women were supposed to have. They were worn like shields against gods wrath just in case a woman were to show a bit of strength or stand up for themselves. But they were never worn much only just enough. Women had to be modest and cover enough of themselves that their bodies felt foreign to them and didn’t belong to them but show enough to show they were still ladies.
And then I got to see adult women after years of having men run their lives tired and sick. All being told they aren’t bringing enough children into the world wile they had so many they didn’t keep track of the ones they had. They worried they couldn’t do enough with ‘populating the earth’ which terrified me. All that modesty enforced with garments so now the church dictates and mandates under clothes.
Then much older women beaten down and unable to fight back every time a man spoke or communicate what they want because men run things to them. Some were obviously abused and some were willing submissive.
But wile all this was going on I was told I was a special spirit and I’d never find a man anyway unless he was the bottom of the pile. The meat market of young single adults never interested me. I wasn’t the best looking, I was disabled to the point I couldn’t just try to be better and somehow look normal to the right guy. Men and women were forced into roles that made them interchangeable in so many ways. Faith in god was supposedly all you needed for a good marriage. What was left as far as characteristics went for anyone to pick what they wanted from? Appearance. Ugly girls got treated with pity. Ugly girls like me. I was told I could fix it if I basically wasn’t me.
It all started with a heart symbol that even people out of the church wear but to me I can’t separate it off from outdated hairstyles, being made to keep my ‘natural’ hair colour, no other subjects being ok but bitching about the unfaithful, skirts you can’t run in but you have to wear them anyway, not being allowed to wear certain colours because they are too bright or give the wrong message, white T-shirts under anything that showed of shoulders or collarbones, lace up to the neck to the point of being choking, not being able to stand up for myself when I need to, being told I couldn’t stand out in any way in my own community but to outsiders I had to look a certain type of strange, being told I had to keep pure but if a priesthood holder said something I better listen even if it wasn’t a good idea, not being allowed to be me but having to be some image of a woman that everyone else wanted me to be, seeing men as both saviours i needed to get into heaven and the demons we were meant to fear and if we showed off our knees men would go from one straight to the other.
The overly cuteness of the little heart symbol jewellery was a part of femininity I never resonated with and for a long time because of that I felt like I was nothing. Now I know there’s just nothing for me in a church that only allowed me one way to express myself and kept telling me what myself was when it wasn’t that at all.

@crossedwithblue prefacing this with a warning that its zero-research only vibes but here is how I would want hair if I was doing a TV series based around Mansfield Park. Sorry if its a bit sloppy I'm ill and it's gone midnight :
-Sir Thomas- Wig/close cropped blonde hair. I want him wearing his wig in most scenes but I need him to have it off when he's offering to break Maria's engagement to Rushworth.
-Lady Bertrm- covered with fancy caps.
-Mrs Norris- second hand fron Lady Bertram
-Maria and Julia- identical until their rivalry over Henry Crawford gets going, then diverging in to two different styles. Julia's hairstyle returns to "normal " Once she's over Crawford, but Maria's "heart eyes at Henry" do is here to stay
-Fanny- Good cases have been made for Fanny having short hair and I could go with that, but pre-haircut (and post if it grows out again) her hairstyle needs to be something that she could do herself.
-Edmund's hair- your classic Darcy or Bingley, but blonde. You want to give the impression that Edmund's not "in" to fashion as such, but he's aware and without slavishly following the new fads of society, he keeps abreast enough to cut a respectable figure. He's not flashy, he's just....a little more vain than perhaps he realises.
-Tom: long, slightly curling. Tied out of his face for the most part. Think Romantic Poet/Gothic hero. It might not be wholly fashionable but it suits him and it draws attention. Bonus points if he's nicked one of his father's wigs to play the rhyming butler and has that on his head when Julia runs in to tell them all that Sir Thomas has come home.
Rushworth- canonically speaking, dude's good looking. Fashionable, well cared for hair that suits his face. Brief attempt at wearing a wig that matches Sir Thomas' after their first meeting
Mary Crawford: dark, pretty, stylish. Her hairstyle should change fairly frequently- Mary tries new things, and she gets bored. The Mary of London should not wear her hair drastically differently to the Mary of Mansfield, however- the same dos, though perhaps a bit more polished or dressed with accessories, should appear in the City as the country.
Henry Crawford- Edmund's, but black. Possibly a bit floofier. Girls who are inclined toward men generally want to run their fingers through it or something idk...

The 1920s - part 2
The Look
Typical underwear of the 1920s
This advertisement for the new freedom corset helped women to achieve the flat shapes and less figure hugging look required to make the fashions of the 1920s look good on the every day woman.
The new stylish look of the 1920s
The Eaton crop was a revolution in hair styles.
Feathered headbands and turbans were the look of the era, they were often the image associated with the La Garconne / flapper look in which was inspired by the art nouveau style left over from the 1910′s and by the mid 1920′s. If you chose to wear one, you pushed it well back and lost the feathers. Sequined caps were also a big thing and heavily ornamented were also popular. Hat Fashion went side by side with hair styles. The big decision facing many women was to Bob or not to Bob, to Crop or not to Crop, or just play safe go with the Fingerwave style.
Menswear
The Prince of Wales was the ambassador for British fashion and fabrics across the world.
In 1922, Fair Isle knits were made fashionable by the Prince of Wales when he wore one on the golf course at St Andrews.
The Prince’s support of the Fair Isle sweater probably helped to save the knitting industry that remains to this day on the small Scottish island.
During 1925 the men wore ‘bum freezer’ length jackets. Here we see gentlemen at the races in the new relaxed jackets.
