Day 4 was a bit of a bust, the Nordic House and Library of Water were closed for some reason and the Volcano Museum is permanently closed. So I had to pivot, so instead I hiked two "mountains", visited a Shark Museum and tasted Greenland shark, did a bit of walking through a long cooled lava field and basically walked every block in the town of Stykkisholmur.
From the picture, you can see that it is not a big place.
Nice Viewpoint at the top of this hill and a clear view of the town.
Greenland Shark meat, hangs outside without preservatives for 6ish months. They do not cook it, just eat it raw after hanging out. If you were to eat it before processing, it is toxic and it would kill you. Had an interesting after taste, unlike anything I have had before, but not bad.
Found the town cemetery, only 3 people have died here in hundreds of years, which checks out, as I have only seen one oldish person.
Tomorrow I am off to the West Fjords, which means about 4ish hours of driving. A few sites I will visit along the way.

Tag fünfzehn: Von den Westfjorden zurück Richtung Süden
Westfjorde letzter Tag. Wir gehen in den Old Bookstore in Flateyri
Und sind gedanklich immer noch in "Blackport"! 🤣
Dann nochmal baden ...
https://www.seatours.is/, one way ISK 21500 für 2 Personen incl FK-Truck.

Iceland a Land of Contradiction
From photography trip to Iceland before Covid.
Perhaps the most glaring example of this is their reverence for churches. For such a small country, considered to be one of the most atheistic in the world today, why are there so many?
This small wooden church has big history. The church itself dates back to 1859, but the site itself was home to the Althing parliamentary general assembly, meeting there between 930 and 1798. It has also been…
