Hi. My band has a gig in France in June, which is crazy and awesome, but I'm a bit worried about binding. They both know I'm trans, but I definitely don't feel comfortable with them (or anyone) without a binder on, and I'm pretty sure we're sharing a hotel room. Any advice on not dying from binding or heat? Thanks. 🙂

Sleeping in a binder is very much not advised, so it’s best to do all that you can to avoid doing so.  A compressive sports bra under a loud and loose shirt might be enough to make you feel a bit more comfortable while giving you something of a break from binding.

You could try to get changed out of your binder after they’ve turned the lights out and before they turn them back on in the morning so that you’re only without a binder in the dark, although that will mean wearing a binder for longer than is recommended.  If you have a looser binder then it would be better to wear that whenever you can if you absolutely can’t go without a binder at all during the day.

Leo felt stupid. He felt so incredibly stupid. He turned his head to the monitor set up in the PT room playing silent footage of the game, wincing a little at the answering sting that flashed across his face. He adjusted the ice pack held against his nose in effort for some relief. The game was halted for a few moments because of review for some penalty or other that Leo missed. The commentators came up on screen, the captions sprawled below them. 

Well, it looks like the game is paused for a moment, let's go back to an earlier moment in this game. 

Video started to play. It showed Leo in slow motion butterflying to stop an incoming puck. It showed how he leaned too far forward. It showed him trying and failing to readjust. It showed him falling face first onto the ice. It showed the puck colliding with his nose, and bouncing towards the edge of the goal where he then accidentally kicked it in with his leg. Leo's face started to burn for an entirely different reason. He was so stupid. He felt too small for his gear in that moment, far too gangly and young for the NHL. He feared what Kasey thought. He feared what coach thought. Who the fuck makes a mistake like that over the age of twelve? Did he even deserve to be in the NHL after that mistake? What was he even doing here, among all these clearly talented players? Tears started to prick at the corners of his eyes, his face felt extra hot against the ice pack. He was such a disappointment. A soft knock sounded against the door, Logan peaked his head through a moment later. 

“Peanut? Hey! How are you feeling?” Logan walked towards the table Leo was sitting on, picked up his hand, and gently played with his fingers. Leo let his hand holding the ice pack fall to his lap. Logan looked at him for two seconds before encircling him in a bone crushing hug. “Stop. I am having absolutely none of that.” 

“I didn’t even say anything.” 

Logan pulled back and cradled Leo’s head in his hands, rubbing the pad of his thumb across the highpoint of Leo’s cheek. “You didn't have to.” Logan kissed the space on Leo’s forehead directly below his gray tuft of hair. 

Leo’s lip started to wobble and tears started to roll down his cheek and onto Logan’s hand. “I’m so stupid .” Leo hid his head in the crook of Logan’s neck. 

“There is nothing further from the truth than that.” 

“But it is true! Who makes mistakes like that?! And all of you were counting on me, and I’m supposed to be at the NHL level! And all of you are so talented and im just this stupidkid who got lucky and-” 

Logan cut him off with a soft kiss. “Everyone makes mistakes like that, that's who. The other day I tripped on the ice while skating backwards and fell on my ass. Do you think I’m not talented?” 

“No, but-” 

“Exactly. We are all human mon soleil, and when we are talking about talent you have it in spades. Did you or did you not win The Stanley Cup,” Logan interrupted himself to knock on wood three times. Leo bit back a smile. “during your rookie year?” 

A small, shy smile broke through the sadness on Leo’s face. “I did.” 

“And don’t get me started on the saves that you make each game! Mon dieu, you made fifteen saves this game alone, and the first period has just ended. And you do that all while being young. Please, the hockey stats nerds rave about you online for how talented you are for someone so young.” Leo chuckled a bit at the last one. 

Logan gently pulled Leo’s head away from his neck to look him in the eyes. “You’re not stupid, you’re wonderful.” Leo’s hands covered Logan’s where they cupped his cheeks. “Répète, mon amour.” 

Leo felt like crying for an entirely different reason. “I’m not stupid, I’m wonderful.” 

Logan kissed him firmly for several seconds. The cold dissipated from Leo’s skin and mind. Logan peppered kisses all over his face, avoiding his nose. “You’re not stupid, you're wonderful, and amazing, and talented, and good at cooking, and smart, and kind, and wonderful, and you’re my boyfriend, and I love you.” Logan embraced him again, grounding him in a sea of worries. 

Finn burst through the door and immediately stopped in his tracks. A look of mock betrayal crossed his face, his mouth agape, and his hand clutching his chest in horrified shock. “Leonardopher Kunt and Loganberry Tremblay, I cannot believe you are cuddling without me!” Leo burst into laughter that didn't seem to stop. 

Logan smiled wide while he rolled his eyes. “Get over here you idiot.” Finn walked over to them and enveloped them both in a warm hug. He kissed the top of Leo’s head before softly running his hands through Leo’s hair. Leo looked up to meet Finn’s eyes. 

Finn smiled and wiped the last remaining tear off Leo’s face with his thumb. “You ready to kick some ass out there mahn amore?” 

Leo smiled. “Yeah. Yeah I am.” 

Logan sighed and rubbed his palm across his face before grumbling “We’ve been over the French thing” in French. Leo laughed so hard he snorted, frantically trying to catch his breath between Finn’s repeated exclamations of “What’s so funny!?” and “Tell me what he said! This isn’t fair! Leo tell me what he said!”
