How to Study Smart by Using Google Lens' Text to Speech Feature
To help myself #studysmart, I always get documents read to me out loud. That way, all I need to focus on is listening to audio (just like listening to a podcast) instead of forcing my eyes to read texts entirely. I can also steer away from information overload as I get to absorb only details that I need. It's a guaranteed time-saver, too, as I can segue to taking notes while listening to the audio and formulating questions in my head.
Get to know more about this #studytip by watching this short clip where I made use of #GoogleLens, which is only one of my favorite #TextToSpeech #TTS tools.
1. Open Google Lens. (If you don't have it yet, simply download it from Google Play Store).
2. Tap on the Text tab.
3. Wait for the text sensors, then snap a photo.
4. Tap on Listen.

Getting back on track doesn't seem so easy if you're starting it off with no less than the #finalexam. 🤣
Next up: #LMS #backlog, a decent (and, hopefully, publishable) research paper, two more essays, and a critique paper.
#Execom ka pa sa dalawang orgs sa school...
Okay ka lang? San mo ba kinukuha ang tapang mo, girl? 🥲🥲🥲

Think Aloud
Do you talk with yourself too when solving math problems or when making complex decisions? If you would ask me, yes, I do. 🙋‍♀️
I tend to #thinkaloud in situations where I want to strictly focus like:
1) when planning out details of a project
2) when completing written assignments like the one below (drawing a tree diagram to represent structures of sentences, which, I honestly feel, is like dealing with a complicated math equation)
3) when trying to find quick workarounds for tech issues I encounter, and
4) when faced with daily dilemmas
Tumblr media
Basically, it is like instructing myself what to do, so I can come up with a plan, strategy, or technique to solve problems. 🤯🤓🧐💡
How about you? Have you tried #thinkingaloud while performing a task? In which situations do you find yourself doing it? 🤔

Book Assignment #2: Pedagogy of the Oppressed (1970) by Paulo Freire
Posting these snippets for I know some people who need to read these messages and this book, particularly, kasi nga "the existence of the oppressed is necessary to their [oppressors'] existence". Periodt.
Tumblr media
For me, truly, the unloved are not the oppressed but the oppressors. Sila talaga yung mga kulang sa aruga eh.
Tumblr media
And they dehumanize themselves too in the process.
Tumblr media
They are the 'entitled' ones, too.
Tumblr media
Our oppressors only live for us—those whom they oppress.
Tumblr media
Smells like COVID, eh?
Tumblr media
It's a cycle, you see.
For this reading, I would like to reflect on my favorite part of the book which made me realize a lot of things.
Tumblr media
I am linking this to the impostor syndrome, which, I think, I have. I am self-diagnosed, though. Not sure if this deserves a proper diagnosis, but I only feel that the signs match with what I have been experiencing throughout my life. This has sprung from the inferiority I had back when I was not yet open to the public about my stutter—a speech impediment that disallows me from being fluent in my speech, causing me to have involuntary blocks and repetitions of either words or syllables. This speech impediment, later on, gave me speaking anxiety, where there are times I could blurt out words properly and have no stutter but feel intensely nervous instead.
In my teenage years, I had known myself to be someone who totally lacked confidence most especially when facing people in public to the mere point that saying my name, introducing myself during JS prom had stressed the hell out of me and put me in a state of complete humiliation.
Later on in my life, also connecting it to my stutter and speaking anxiety, people I would tag as “my oppressors” would think I am lying, am not sure about my answers or whatever I'm saying, am a fraud, am not qualified to do what I have been asked to do, or, simply, have poor memory, and would tend to distort my reality by framing it to whichever way they want to—which, has a clearer term now, gaslighting.
Tumblr media
This, consequently, led me to struggle with saying no to people and choose my friends carefully, thinking they’d only be a burden to my life if I’d always deal with helping them. It’s a long story to tell but I think it deserves proper sharing when given the chance to.
Tumblr media
I wish that people knew more about these things that I read from the book, so they can spare themselves from being "the oppressed" or at least somehow help in alleviating the pain and suffering brought about by oppressors to others.

Book Assignment #1: Leadership Theory and Research by Christian Harrison
The concept of leadership, no matter how vague and indescribable it may seem to others, has been clearer to me now, having participated in last week's virtual exchange of ideas with my classmates and our professor, Dr. Abenes.
Tumblr media
Our productive learning session has allowed me to review my own practices as a leader that which is critical for my personal leadership development. It has helped me revisit the way I preach about leadership to other people through my actions—to the school and to the community at large, particularly to my fellow Happy Members in JCI Baras, to my co-members in DepEd Rizal Leadership Core Team, and to my advisees, our school’s Supreme Student Government (SSG) Officers.
Tumblr media
With the learnings I gained from the exchange, I was able to examine my current level of skills—what I am good at and the areas of my life I need to work on more as far as leadership and management are concerned, the way I get along with others as well as my behavioral patterns, and how I constantly seek to inspire others and ignite positive change.
❝Mahirap kasing magbigay ng inspiration nang walang laman. 'Yun 'yung mahirap... because as a leader, in Aquinas' sense, 'You cannot give what you do not have.'❞ 💗 — Dr. Rodrigo D. Abenes / Aklatan ni Tasyo

Trapped in between writing my final paper with an extensive RRL for two subjects and completing my overdue assignment for another got me like... 🙄
Tumblr media
Ano na, teh? Hahaha. Tbh, I don't feel like Term 1 is over yet, but here I am—already braving into a new one. It's like breaking up with a lover without a proper closure, ganorn!
This sounds so embarrassing, but did you know I almost forgot that it's our first synchronous class for the new term (Term 2)?
Tumblr media
I got off from work at exactly 5, bearing in mind that I'd spend an hour preparing for our class with the University Vice-President. Mygaaaaad yes! Vice-President lang naman ng PNU!
So ayooon... Upon arriving home, I got preoccupied with a package my mum received for an online purchase. It was already half past five when I remembered about logging into our LMS. Such a shame!
And so, two minutes before 6 pm, I was literally rushing into the Zoom call, feeling all nervous, like, my palms are getting entirely sweaty that I can no longer move my ergonomic mouse properly.
Tumblr media
I was wondering how my face would have looked like had the class been on an F2F basis. I could just imagine. 😂
Oh, good Lord. Thank You for those last two minutes. ✌️🙏✨
Tumblr media
P.S. And yes, that mouse cursor is a sword—just to remind me that this laptop I'm using right now is my prize from the recently held Gawad Kampilan 2020, where I was awarded as Most Outstanding Module Evaluator for Grades 7-12.
Fun fact: In the Philippines, "kampilan" is a type of single-edged sword, traditionally used by various ethnic groups in the Philippine archipelago. It has a distinct profile, with the tapered blade being much broader and thinner at the point than at its base, sometimes with a protruding spikelet along the flat side of the tip (Wikipedia).
