Our family always knows when the striper start to show up in the south Delta because my dad always ties up a bunch of his favorite 4in wool baitfish. Tonight’s flavor is bluegill (a big source of food for stripper in the delta are bluegill) he plans on a bunch of Shad tomorrow. This year he’s trying it some 2/0 @ahrexhooks TP610 Trout Predator Streamer hooks. By the amount of blood on one of these bluegill they’re sharp. After seeing the awesome chatterbait fly that @rusuperfly ties up I had to play with it myself. One of my favorite delta weed line colors tied on a 1/0 @gamakatsu.usa hook behind a @flymenfishingco big game shank and topped of with their #6 Fish-Mask and Fire living eyes. One of our favorite flies in the delta is a bucktail Clouser Minnow and when the big stripper show up in fall it never hurts to make it articulated. In the late fall through the winter the a lot of largemouth bass in in the delta look for deep cover. One of our favorite ways to catch these deep bass is to drag and hop a heavy fly right in there faces. This 7in game changer on @flymenfishingco Articulated Fish Spine and the @harelinedubbin Double Pupil lead eyes it will get down there quick.
