Strike Boogie is back on the scene with a hot new single, “What Say You.”

April 2020, Toronto, Ontario - Hailing from Canada, Strike Boogie is more than just a recording artist. He is someone who might be considered a jack-of-all-trades in the artist and creative world. In fact, this charismatic individual has so much to offer and he can seamlessly swing from different scenes and roles, while still performing like a true master at anything that he set out to accomplish. Strike Boogie is a creative director, author, comic book artist, video games enthusiast, animator, and even an actor and a filmmaker! More importantly, he makes great music that truly connects with people from all walks of life. Recently, Strike Boogie announced the release of a new single, “What Say You,” which is also featured on his upcoming new EP. Thankfully, Bandcamp Diaries had the opportunity to check out this release as an exclusive first listen! The album name is to be announced in the coming weeks leading to the release of the single.

“What Say You” is a really amazing introduction to Strike Boogie’s sound and unique approach as an artist. This track has a lot of texture and the atmosphere is truly edgy, combining aesthetics as diverse as R&B, Hip-Hop, and Chill-wave. The artist himself wrote, performed, composed and co-arranged the song. Strike Boogie also worked with Lvca Leon, a producer from Germany who helped him bring this amazing song to life. Ultimately, this song is great because it sets the bar higher with a sound that feels spontaneous and very easy to relate to for people of all backgrounds. The quality of the lyrics is truly excellent, and what I love about this song is that there is so much realness and honesty in every word. The vocals are soulful and direct, yet catchy and emotionally driven, at times blinking an eye to the work of artists like Lupe Fiasco and Kendrick Lamar. You do not have to be a chill-wave or hip-hop fan in order to fully appreciate the quality and care that went into this astonishing song. Any true fan of quality music is going to feel at home with this sound, and it is easy to connect with the innovative spirit and authentic passion that drive Strike Boogie’s work.
