YANKEES VS. DODGERS

_en It’s not that long since the Opening Day of the new Major League Baseball season took place. The first games are always accompanied by high fans turnout and special events. One of those related to the sneakers community was, similarly to the previous year, the release of the Vans x MLB collection featuring selected teams.

To get the history in tact first, one of the best creations Vans has ever produced in collaboration with MLB was the Opening Day pack under Vault in 2010. Selected stores in various cities were offering the shoes and the jersey of their home team on that day. Unfortunately, the quantities were limited to 12 pairs per one team. Nowadays, they still occasionally pop up somewhere and their resell price is around 1000 dollars for the complete pack.

However, last year we were presented with a much more obtainable release brought by the collaboration of Vans and MLB. The silhouettes in question were the Authentic and Sk8-Hi in team colors of the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Cubs, Padres, Giants, Astros or Red Sox. The release was obviously limited to the US market, but it was possible or still is to get some of the pairs outside of Vans.com, whether on the MLB website or stores shipping outside the US.

This year, the number of teams was slightly reduced, the colorways changed a bit and the Old School model was added to the silhouettes’ palette. You can also find the team colors in Vans Customs and the execution is in GR quality with the prices set accordingly. Apart from the team branding on the shoe’s surface which is made of canvas, the MLB logo is placed on the insole right next to the Vans one inside the shoe. Of course, the product still remains US only. This year’s release is not available on mlb.com, however you can buy it on vans.com or in verified stores such as Undefeated.

_cz Není to tak dlouho, co proběhl Opening Day nové sezóny Major League Baseball. První zápasy vždy provází vysoká návštěvnost a speciální eventy. A jedním z těch, co se týkají sneaker komunity, byl stejně jako v loňském roce release Vans x MLB kolekce pro vybrané teamy.

Abychom se odrazili trochu od historie. Jedním z nejlepších počinů, jaký kdy Vans ve spolupráci s MLB udělal, byl Opening Day pack ve Vault kolekci v roce 2010. Vybrané obchody v jednotlivých městech měly ten den v nabídce boty plus dres jejich domácího teamu. Bohužel, počet kusů byl limitován na 12 pro jeden team. Občas někde vyskočí a resell se pohybuje kolem 1,000 dolarů za kompletní pack.

V loňském roce jsme se dočkali daleko dostupnějšího releasu, který vzešel ze spolupráce Vans a MLB. Jednalo se o Authentic a Sk8-Hi v barvách Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Cubs, Padres, Giants, Astros či Red Sox. Samozřejmě, release byl limitován na US trh, ale dali či některé se ještě dají sehnat mimo Vans.com, ať už na webu MLB nebo na storech shippujících mimo US.

V letošním roce je týmů o pár méně, trošku se proměnily colorways nebo změnily siluety, ke kterým přibyl Old Skool. Teamové barvy naleznete i ve Vans Customs a provedení je v GR kvalitě, čemuž odpovídá i cena. Mimo teamového brandingu na povrchu boty, který je tvořen canvasem, je unvnitř boty na vložce vedle loga Vans i logo MLB. Samozřejmě stále platí, že produkt je US only. Letošní release není dostupný na mlb.com, dá se však sehnat na vans.com nebo na prověřených storech jako Undefeated atd.
