How do you feel about people complaining about the shrines in the new EP? To me it seems kinda hypocritical because in the sim world everyone agreed that human history didn't really happen. Including stuff like slavery and the holocaust. So if other minorities are asked to forget their pain I feel like the shrines shouldn't be a problem.
Hey there, thank you for the ask! First of all let me start by saying I DO NOT think we should expect minorities to just forget their pain. The Korean simmers deserve to be respected and listened to. It is not right for us to tell other people how to feel and react. It is our duty to hear and understand and DO BETTER.
I do not find it hypocritical at all. The lack of sensitivity on EA's part has been an issue since the release of the sims 4. From skin tones to the haphazard Hispanic Heritage update we got recently, they time and time again coloquilaize cultures they are not privy to. Quite frankly, we're (minority communities) tired of being tokenized.
East Asia is massive with it's own nuanced history. To put Shintoism in the game despite the absence of literally any other form of religious worship reads as orientalism to me. They think it's a cute, quirky part of our culture. In reality, Shintoism is our oldest religion, dating back even BEFORE Buddhist missionaries came to our island. It has just as much history and meaning to us as the Catholic church and their iconography have in the western world.
Indeed, the sims is just a game. But to deny its impact on the people that play it (esp the younger simmers) is damaging. Please open your perspective to include the minorities around you and actually listen to what they have to say. Take it to heart. Learn. Grow. Do better.
That is all we are asking of EA.

List 5 facts about your favorite sim, and send this to 10 people whose sims you adore! ❤
thank you so much for the tag, @strawberrysimsforever! 🖤
i’m not sure that i have a favorite sim - but one i truly adore is rosalie, probably bc her story is so rich. i’m excited to talk about her bc my “legacy” i’m posting never really talked about her own history, we just dived right into her children.
rosalie triplett
erratic, romantic, foodie
1. her maiden name is dangereux - means dangerous in french. i gave her that name bc she has creole roots and she and her twin were quite the dangerous pair growing up.
2. which brings me to fact #2, rosalie has a twin, cykeem. he is a lover boy, heartbreaker player in every since of the word. speaking of words - commitment, is not apart of his vocabulary. he has two children from random hook-ups, giving rosalie two nephews. you’ll see them pop up at holiday gatherings.
3. rosalie was born in willow creek (hence, the creole roots) but grew up in oasis springs. it was there she lived in a studio apartment community with her twin brother, and their roommate naomi as young adults. she met her husband, jared living here.
4. rosalie and jared eloped and then got a house built in the more expensive neighborhood of oasis springs. it was here where things started to get crazy. they got pregnant with jonah, then came the twins, rosalie’s drinking problem, and then they went bankrupt. it was so hard to take care of a house and also maintain the bills with 3 babies in this new home. they were forced to sell everything and start fresh in willow creek.
5. moving was the best thing they could’ve ever done. they were able to get back on their feet financially, grow an abundant garden, and their family - they had one more unplanned pregnancy, having nadia. rosalie was also able to climb to the top of the culinary career, becoming a celebrity chef, and then she opened her own restaurant (in oasis springs of course). she still balances them both and will retire as a chef once she becomes an elder. oh, and after the opening of the restaurant they had ONE MORE unplanned pregnancy, resulting in baby number 5, kaylie - after all of their other children were gone and had graduated from uni. 🙃
the tripletts family tree (i need to update the kids photos)
whew, okay so maybeeee i snuck in more than 5 facts. but i’ve always wanted to share more about rosalie, even before i’d ever heard of simblrs. so now is the perfect time!
a lot of people have done this challenge already, and i can’t remember who hasn’t so i tag whoever else would like to share about their sims!!

Kimono vs. Yukata:
This is a coming of age kimono! Notice the very long sleeves called furisode, which can only be worn by a maiden (unmarried woman). Once you are married, you can no longer wear furisode. Also yes that is me at age 20 lol. I am wearing my mother's kimono, which is a family heirloom.
Here I am in a rental kimono for my cousin's wedding. The purple gown she is wearing is her afterparty outfit, which was inspired by Disney's Rapunzel. This is after my husband (pictured on the left) and I were married, so my sleeves are much shorter.
My cousin again but we are much younger here lol. These are a couple of the yukata I own. Unlike kimono, yukata can be purchased at very affordable prices. Both of these yukata are from Uniqlo. If you look closely you will see my obi (the thick band that wraps around your waist) is different. For younger children/teens the stiff obi can be substituted for a lighter material that is less restrictive and more youthful looking. The fashion today is to tie such lacey wraps into dainty bows, though this is not traditional.
This is just a random picture of Japanese people I took while at a firework festival with my friends. We go early, before the sun even begins to set, to get a good spot. Then we basically picnic in our yukatas until the fireworks begin!

They moved into their new home straight after graduation.
side note: I like to imagine these two are moving into Asuka’s late grandmother’s most recent home (the one she lived in after Asuka moved out up until she passed away), which her granduncle (grandmother’s younger brother) kept for her as a graduation gift. Therefore the downstairs space is furnished in a way that isn’t quite to either of their tastes... but as freshly graduated university students with very little savings they can’t complain.

Hello! Firstly, I really appreciate you answering people's questions about Japanese culture since the release of Snowy Escape! I was wondering, would a kimono be something that would make sense for sims living in Mt. Komorebi to wear for their formal outfit? And for yukata, my impression was that they're more casual and often worn during summer festivals, but are there other situations they're worn as well? tysm if you answer this, again, I really appreciate it!! 💞✨
Hello there and thank you for the thoughtful ask! This is a very good question and one I've received before, so I'll do my best to answer this here.
In today's Japan, kimono are really only worn on special occasions. Much like gowns (esp. wedding gowns) in the western world, most people simply rent kimonos for a day or for photos. Rarely do they actually own a kimono themselves, as they are expensive and can be bulky to store. Most Japanese people will only wear a kimono for one of the following reasons: a wedding (close family members and the bride and groom are the only ones that should be in a kimono if they so choose, other guests should wear appropriate dresses/suits), coming of age ceremony when you turn 20, at the ages of 7, 5, and 3 for children (this is called shichi-go-san and is a way to celebrate a child's health through their early years), funerals (muted kimonos in dark tones with no patterns), graduation from university, and photoshoots.
Kimono are not treated as simply formal attire - they are culturally significant and deeply important to us as a people. Wearing a kimono is not the same as wearing a fancy dress, so please be incredibly mindful when dressing your sims in one.
That being said, I think most Japanese people would agree with me when I say the race/ethnicity/background of the individual wearing the kimono is not important. Anyone can wear a kimono, they do not have to be Japanese. It is the situation in which the kimono is worn that is important. Is your sim attending the wedding of a close family relative (a sibling, even cousins is okay - I wore a kimono to my cousin's wedding)? My white father (I am biracial) wore a kimono to his wedding, for example. Or maybe your sim is in fact Japanese and is celebrating their coming of age ceremony? These are formal occasions in which the wearing of a kimono is appropriate.
You are correct about yukata! Yukata are basically summertime kimono and are much more casual. The average Japanese person will wear a yukata way more often in their lifetime in comparison to a kimono. We wear yukata multiple times throughout the summer, usually for firework festivals (which are super popular in Japan, we love fireworks lol) but sometimes just for fun as well. I believe Tokyo Disneyland even does a summertime campaign where if you and your friends wear a yukata to the park you can get a discount on entrance. I'm not sure if they still do this though.
I apologize for the super long answer but I hope this was helpful! If you or anyone else have further questions please let me know.♡

Hello there! Sorry for the unannounced hiatus once again >_<; I mentioned it in a previous text post of mine but I have a chronic illness that sometimes leaves me bedridden for a few days, and my flare-ups have been difficult lately. It makes it hard for me to keep any sort of strict schedule, and almost impossible to work a 9 to 5 desk job (hence why I’m a freelance writer that works from home). I’ve been trying really hard to take this blog somewhat seriously, as I’ve always wanted to be an active member of the sims community. That being said, I’ve been stressing myself out recently over posting on this blog, which really shouldn’t be a source of stress at all. I may not be the most consistent simblr, but I really enjoy being a part of this internet community and that should be enough. I have a tendency to try and make everything I do perfect, and I need to realize that it’s not only unrealistic but ultimately unhealthy of me to do so. With that, I just wanted to say that I will no longer be trying to post on a daily schedule. I will still be as active as I can on this blog, but I’m not going to stress myself out if I don’t have things queued up for the week. I hope you understand where I’m coming from.
ps. my asks are still open in regards to Japan and Japanese culture if you’re interested xoxo
