Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Favorite town in Colorado to date. This is where I would move, if I were to choose to move to Colorado. Everyone has a bike, downtown has more biking spots, than parking spots. We pulled into town around lunchtime, and caught the Farmers Market just as it was nearing closure. We were able to catch the Buffalo Rancher and the Bakery stand before they wrapped up. We spent about 20 minutes talking to the Buffalo rancher about the work effort, process, etc. that goes into raising buffalo, his advice was 'if you know anything about donkeys, then raising buffalo is easy', we informed him that we knew nothing about donkeys, and he proceeded to tell us that buffalo will never forget being wronged. If for any reason they feel mistreated or are actually mistreated, they will wait it out and someday get back at you. We will heed his advice if we ever take up buffalo ranching, but we learned a lot and the cooked roast we bought has been delicious on sandwiches. The bakery stand sold us two fresh loaves of Garlic Bread and Asiago Jalapeño loaves. We have been eating them everyday for the last few days for breakfast, and they are so good! We walked all through downtown the remainder of the afternoon, caught an Arts Sidewalk Sale going on, which was quite interesting and overpriced. I must have said a dozen times to each vendor to stave them off, 'if I only had a wall to hang this on'. That confused the heck out of them, and they knew we were not going to be buying anything, but that we were just browsing. We grabbed some margaritas and guacamole (Mexican seems to be our go to out here, which is funny, because we don't really each much of it at home) and then headed over to the Rodeo. There was about 2 hours in wait time for the rodeo, so we passed and headed over to the river, where we found some fly fishermen. It is surreal to just sit down at the rivers edge and just watch time pass. No place to be, no appointment to make, no deliverable to complete, just time to pass. Public Lands welcomed us once more and we scored a favorable spot on a mountain top just as the sun was setting, unfortunately, I was not able to capture any pictures. Star Gazing was pretty awesome from high above the trees, and we were able to see several satellites, planets, and attempted to find some comets to no avail. We saved the best for last, Jay has been talking about Strawberry Park for several years, and we finally made it there together. This is a natural hot spring that is available for $15, and we took full advantage of it on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. A true New Englander, I spent most of my time in the cold river water vs. the hot springs, but it was very enjoyable and we had a great time! Off to Wyoming!
